LaCrosse has 10,000 Reasons To Be Happy at the World Nationals

LaCrosse has 10,000 Reasons To Be Happy at the World NationalsBy Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (September 20th,  2014) –
As the 50th Anniversary season ended at the Marshalltown Speedway on Saturday night the race fans were left in awe and wanting more racing but will have to wait until 2015. 160 cars signed in to compete on night two of the World Nationals that included 13 different states.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Northern SportMods 20 lap feature. Logan Scott and Clint Luellen redrew the front row and they took full advantage as the race wheel to wheel. Luellen took the lead tho and shortly after lap one the caution came out when several cars got together in turn four and then again on the initial restart. Luellen got a great restart and pulled away meanwhule they were battling behind him and the only thing slowing down Luellen was lap traffic the final six laps. Luellen went on to take the win over 8th place starter Tracy Wassenberg, Logan Scott, 14th place starter Austin Kaplan and Sam Wieben.

Cayden Carter grabbed the lead early in the Modifieds Final Four race to determine the final four starters for the 50 lap feature. After the completion of lap one, Joel Bushore and Jay Noteboom got together in turn one. Carter got a great restart and never looked back taking the win putting him in the big dance. Justin O'Brien moved up four spots to finish second. Scott Olson a new arrival for night two was third and Darin Duffy started 12th and finish fourth to make the dance.

Kyle Parizek took the early lead in the 20 lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Parizek lead until the first race caution came out on lap three for Gina Greubel in turn four. On the restart, Parizek had to contend with Dustin Elliott and Eric Stanton. It was Stanton taking the lead away on lap five. Only ting that seemed to slow Stanton's route to win was a trio of cautions on lap six, seven and eight. Stanton was not to be denied as he took the $700 to win courtesy of Bulldog Motorsports. Austin Luellen charged his way from tenth to second. John Watson, Elliott and 13th place starter Benji Irvine rounded out the top five.

The IMCA Stock Cars feature lived up to their name of the Class to Tough Tame for their 25 lap feature as they ran three and four wide through out the race. Kyle Vanover started outside row two but by the end of lap one he found his way to the top spot however David Brandies worked his way from eighth starting spot to second. Vanover and Brandies battled for the lead for several laps before Brandies took the lead away. Shortly after a pair of cautions came out on lap eight and nine bunching up the field. Brandies and Vanover again battled for the lead which saw Vanover taking it back. Vanover went on to take the win over Brandies, Jason Minnehan, Dave Atcher and 21st place starter Damon Murty.

The final feature of the night was the World Nationals 50 lap Modified feature presented by PBM, Erson, and World Products.   This feature did not disappoint as there was great three and four wide racing all thru the field. Brookfield, Missouri Driver Hunter Marriott took the early lead. Marriott and field saw the caution come out on lap three for Adam Larson and Justin O'Brien getting together in turn four. On the restart, it got hot and heavy but Marriott continued to lead only to see the caution come out on lap five. Marriott saw Benji LaCrosse take the lead way on lap seven. Meanwhile several battles through out the field was three or four wide racing. LaCrosse looked to be cruising away only to caution lap traffic on lap 20 and three laps later the caution came out. Caution came out two more times on laps 25 and 29 but LaCrosse was happy to take the $10,000 back to Wisconsin.

Ryan Gustin worked his way up from 11th to second and last year's winner Jacob Murray worked his way from 17th to third. Marriott slipped back to fourth and Jeff Taylor worked his way from 16th to fifth. Justin O'Brien, Mike Jergens, JD Auringer, 24th place starter Darin Duffy and Kurt Kile rounded out the top ten.

Gustin, Watson and Vanover Winners on Night #1 of World Nationals

Gustin, Watson and Vanover Winners on Night #1 of World Nationals
By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (September 19th,  2014) –After Thursday's Night practice the 8th Annual World Nationals roared to life and nobody left disappointed Friday Night. There was a total of 173 cars from 11 different states represented on Night #1 of the World Nationals.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature. Andy Hick and Dustin Elliott led the field to the green, Elliott took full advantage grabbing the lead on lap one. Elliott, Hick and Tyson Overton went three wide for position on lap two but still Elliott maintained the lead. Just as the racing was heating up going two and three wide the caution came out on lap six for Dustin Lynch. Elliott saw John Watson and Overton right behind him but Elliott continued to lead until Watson made the move on lap 12. Watson wound up leading the final eight laps to take the win over Eric Stanton and Elliott. Austin Luellen started 12th and finish fourth with Hick in fifth.

After six heats and three b-features settled the field down to 24 cars it was time for the 20 lap IMCA Sport Mod feature but before they could complete a lap the caution came out. Hunter Parsons from Wisconsin grabbed the early lead but Doug Smith took the lead away on lap two. Smith began to pull away only to see the caution come out on lap 11 for debris in turn two. Smith now had 15th place starter Jenae Gustin and Parsons right behind him. Smith held on until lap traffic slowed him down on lap 15 which allowed Gustin to sneak by for the lead. Gustin went on to take the win over 10th place starter Clint Luellen and 12th place starter Carter VanDenBerg. Finishing fourth and fifth respectively was 19th place starter Brayton Carter and Sam Wieben.

"Class to Tough to Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 25 lap feature saw Kyle Vanover grabbing the lead early but it was not easy as he had to battle with Fort Dodge's Lance Deal.  Vanover lead until the caution came out for debris in turn four on lap six. Vanover saw Rookie Devin Smith and Damon Murty on the back fender, it was Smith taking the lead away on lap eight. Vanover did not give up as he took it back on lap nine. The only thing slowing Vanover was a caution on lap 12 and 19 but he went on to take the win over Donavon Smith, Damon Murty, Devin Smith and Trent Murphy.

Meanwhile the Modifieds ran two sets of heat races on Friday Night earning points for the position they finished in plus 1.66 points in passing points for each car the went by. Then the top ten in points from the heat finishes being locked in to the feature for Saturday Night. Round one heat winners were Kyle Krampe, Mike Jergens, Benji LaCrosse, Cayden Carter; Richie Gustin; Nick Nevins, Chris Abelson and Hunter Marriott. By Jeremy Fox

Oskaloosa, Iowa (September 17th, 2014) –Wednesday night track points wrapped up at the Southern Iowa Speedway on Pepsi Cola Mahaska Bottling and KBOE Radio Season Championships. Fans were able to see the stars driving the hot rods because there was out of the car introductions before the features. Track Champions determined and one driver had a special surprise for somebody in victory lane.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts ten lap feature and Matt Girdley jumped into the lead. Girdley would pull away and take his first win at Osky. Track Champion Bill Whalen Jr came home in the runner up spot. John Whalen finished third, Matt Moore was fourth and Nick Van Hamert was fifth.

Racing Veteran Jerry Pilcher grabbed the early lead in the 16 lap Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds feature. Rookie AJ Johnson and Tyler Groenendyk each tried to get by Pilcher but was unsuccesful meanwhile Track Champion Andrew Schroeder was working his way through the field. Schroeder took second away on lap 11 and when Pilcher left the door open on lap 12 it was Schroeder taking the lead. Schroeder went on to take the win over Pilcher, Johnson, Groenendyk and Brandon Banks.

In the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature, Mike Kincaid grabbed the lead early but shortly after lap two was scored the caution came out for Mike Hughes and Adam Bonnett getting together in turn two. Kincaid continued to lead until he slipped up on lap nine allowing Craig Brown to sneak on by. Brown lead the remaining laps despite a hard charging Mike Hughes to take his third win of the season at Osky. Hughes finished second, Brad Stephens was third, Kincaid fell back to fourth and Track Champion Dustin Griffiths came across in fifth.

Todd Phillips started on the pole in the 18 lap Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars feature and he took advantage grabbing the lead. Phillips had his handsful the entire distance battling with Louis Lynch for the seven laps. Lynch experienced troubles on lap eight resulting in the only caution. Phillips then saw Corey Stout behind him but still manage to hold off the challenges and held off late race challenges from Gary Harward to take the win. For Phillips it was not the only victory of the night as after his victory lane interview he proposed to his girlfriend Krystal and she accepted. Harward, Nathan Wood, Shane Weller and Stout rounded out the top five. Track Champion was Cayden Carter.

Final Feature of the night was 16 lap KBOE Radio IMCA SportMods feature and it was Colton Livezey grabbing the early lead which he held on to until Curtis VanDerWal worked his way up to take the lead away on lap six.
