Marshalltown Speedway Wrapped Track Championships and Turns Focus to Special Events

Friday Night at America's Bucket List Track was supposed to be the Historic North 3rd Avenue Dairy Queen Larry & Barb Wollam Memorial Season Championships; however, Mother Nature had other plans as rain rolled in and the lightning in the area forced speedway officials to cancel the races. The final night of track points in Motown is in honor of a great man, Larry Wollam, who raced, owned race cars, and was a promoter at the Speedway before he passed away on August 30th, 1999; this year was to mark the first year honoring his lovely wife, Barb, who passed away on Mother's Day (May 11th), 2025. Unfortunately the races were cancelled, meaning it put a bow on the track championships at Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway.

Larry's view of life still rings true today; some need a reminder of those wise words. I never got to meet Larry in person, but I know his family and the race team live by those words every day.

THE LARRY WOLLAM VIEW OF LIFE

If you think you're beaten, you are, If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win, but think you can't, It's almost a cinch that you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost. For out in the world we find - Success begins with a fellow's will, It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are, You've got to think high to rise. You've got to be sure of yourself, Before you can win the prize.

Life's battles don't always go, To the strongest or fastest man. But sooner or later the person who wins, Is the person who thinks he can.

Back to talk about the track points wrapping up, Motown track champions: Kollin Hibdon (Modifieds), Jimmy Gustin (Stock Cars), Brayton Carter (SportMods), Kolby Sabin (Hobby Stocks), Bryan Zehm (Mod Lites), and Spencer Roggentien (Sport Compacts).

Mills and Smith Capture Feature Wins and Track Titles in Boone

Races on Friday night got rained out at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway; it was scheduled to be the Historic North 3rd Ave Dairy Queen Larry & Barb Wollam Memorial Season Championships. Just as things were supposed to begin, they changed, putting a bow on the track championships. Motown track champions: Kollin Hibdon (Modifieds), Jimmy Gustin (Stock Cars), Brayton Carter (SportMods), Kolby Sabin (Hobby Stocks), Bryan Zehm (Mod Lites), and Spencer Roggentien (Sport Compacts). Marshalltown now turns their focus to specials, including the 8th Annual Dale DeFrance Memorial presented by Vinyl Cup Records featuring the Malvern Bank SLMR Late Models ($4,500 to win). IMCA Modifieds ($1,000 to win), IMCA Stock Cars ($850 to win), IMCA Sport Mods ($600 to win), and IMCA Hobby Stocks ($600 to win), but the hope is to get all four IMCA classes to $1,044 to win before this Friday. Then the following Friday, August 29th, is the Karl Showdown at Motown, with the Harvest Hustle October 23rd through 25th.

Iowa's Action Track, the Boone Speedway, had a far different fate, as they were able to put a bow on their track championships on Saturday night. With both Brooklyn Raceway and Warren County Speedway off, my schedule was open to go somewhere, and with it being extremely hot outside, it made sense to make the short drive to Boone for the races to take in their season championships, the first-ever visit by the American Iron Racing Series (A.I.R.S.), and the John Logue First Time Winners Race in the Sport Mods.

One hundred and ninety-seven cars signed in to tame Boone Speedway on Saturday night, including 21 A.I.R.S. cars. The top 6 in points of each IMCA class were locked in to the A-main with them inverted (6th place pole, 5th place 2nd place, etc.), and everybody else (7th on back) would go to qualifiers to determine the starting order and transfers. Jeremy Mills, Devin Smith, Mike Smith, Brandon Bombardo, Garrett Barber, John Logue, and Gage Hilgenberg captured feature wins. Mills, Johnathon Logue, Smith, Joe Doran, and Austin Gray claimed track championships. The racing action was hot and heavy from the qualifiers through the features. The first green flag was waved at 7pm, and the final checkered flag was displayed at 11:37pm.

The first feature of the night was the IMCA Mod Lites 20-lap season championship event. After the initial start was waived off, the caution came out again before a lap was scored when Ryder Hartley and Robert Moore spun together in turns three and four. Josh May jumped out to the race lead on the following restart, fending off challenges from Bryan Zehm and Austin Gray. May lead the way through the lap eight caution for Austin Glick going off the top of turns one and two. The final caution was a red flag when Cole Paul rolled in turn two. Zehm took the lead away from May on the restart, while Garret Barber worked his way to third and challenged May for second. Barber made the move and got by both Zehm and May to take the lead with one to go. Barber hung on by .025 seconds over May to capture his 2nd feature win of his career, both coming in back-to-back weeks. May finished 2nd, Gray was third, Joel Huggins was fourth, and Zehm was fifth. Gray captured the 2025 track championship. Steve Hartley was the rookie of the year in the Mod Lites.

Next up was the IMCA Northern Sport Mods 23-lap season championship feature event. Camdan Vincent outdueled Ryan Leeman for the race lead early from his outside front row starting spot. Vincent grabbed the race lead, while Leeman had to contend with Randy Havlik and Mike Smith. Smith threw a haymaker on Vincent to take the race lead away on lap 15. Vincent refused to go away and tried to take the top spot back but came up short as Smith led the final eight laps to capture his fifth feature win in his rookie campaign. Smith also captured the track championship and rookie of the year honors with the win. Vincent came across in second, seventh-place starter Matt Avila was third, Cory Pestotnik was fourth, and eleventh-place starter Brett Thomas was fifth.

The American Iron Racing Series (A.I.R.S.) is a division of restored classic racing cars and a class to just have fun while racing. They made their first-ever appearance in Boone, and they produced a wild 15-lap feature event. Dan Thompson took the top spot early and fended off John Logue. Shortly after lap one was scored, the caution came out when Bruce Ferguson slowed in turn three. Another caution came out a lap later when Warren Wethington spun in turn three. Thompson held off Logue and Bart Miller until the final caution came out on lap 8 for Connor Quigley, after he made contact with Leighton Potter in turn one before taking a tumble when his rear end snapped out of the car. Logue snatched the lead away from Thompson on the restart. Logue cruised on to the feature win; he thanked his son Johnathon for pushing him to jump behind the wheel to capture one more feature win. Thompson, tenth-place starter Tracy Quigley, Bart Miller, and Roger Cielsielski rounded out the top five.

In the IMCA Modifieds 25-lap season championship feature event, a caution came out before a lap was scored when Dave Solberg spun in turn four on the start. Izac Mallicoat grabbed the top spot early and was followed by Todd Shute. The caution came out again on lap four when Jesse Patterson, Robert Moore, Trevor Fitz, and Zane DeVilbiss went together in turn four. Mallicoat held off Shute and Jeremy Mills on the restart and looked to be heading on to the win until the final caution came out on lap 11; the caution was for Fitz going off the top of turn two. Fitz was not happy and showed his displeasure with Russ Dickerson during the yellow. Mallicoat led until lap 16, when Mills would get by. Mills went on to capture his seventh feature win of the season, along with the 2025 track championship. Mallicoat, Shute, Jake McBirnie, and DeVilbiss rounded out the top five. Garrett Nelson was the rookie of the year.

Doug Smith grabbed the early lead in the IMCA Stock Cars 25-lap season championship feature event, with Tyler Pickett, David Smith, and Devin Smith battling for second. The first caution came out on lap three when a piece of body paneling came off of Devin Smith's car after he flirted with the infield tires. Doug Smith led until lap seven, when older brother David Smith took the top spot away. David Smith fended off the initial challenges from Devin after he got by Doug. The final caution came out on lap 11, with Kevin Gyles and Russ Byriel stopping on the exit off the top of turn one. It continued to be the Smith show out front until Doug exited on lap 16. Devin Smith took the lead briefly on lap 16, but David regained it a lap later. Devin again led lap 19, but David returned to the top spot on lap 20. Devin Smith grabbed the race lead coming to the white flag and hung on to capture his 4th win of the season. David Smith finished second, Josh Daniels was third, Johnathon Logue finished fourth, and Buck Schafroth was fifth. Logue captured the 2025 track championship, and Doug Smith captured rookie of the year honors.

The IMCA Hobby Stocks 20-lap season championship feature event was caution-filled. Will Smith took the top spot early in the feature, fending off "Topless" Joe Doran. The first caution came out on lap 2 when Mason Burkman spun in turns three and four. Will Smith continued to lead the way, only to see the caution on lap four for debris on the front stretch. Lap eight saw the caution come out three times: Brianna Osterson in turn three; Wade Gilliland and Brandan Long getting together on the front stretch; and Tyler Smith spinning in turn four. Will Smith continued to lead the way and appeared to be heading on to the win until Doran was able to make the pass and take over the top spot on lap 15. The caution came out one more time on lap 18 when Joe Wollenhaupt came to a stop at the top of turns three and four. Doran had to battle with Smith and fourteenth-place starter Brandon Bombardo on the restart. Bombardo stole the lead away and went on to take the feature win. Dorah finished runner-up, Braden Gifford took third, Corey VanDerWilt was fourth, and Solomon Bennett was fifth. Doran captured the track championship, and Kolby Sabin took rookie of the year honors.

The final feature event of the night was the John Logue First Time Winners Sport Mod Race for 20 laps; this feature was lined up by age (oldest in the front). Dennis Pittman led the first lap before Travis Kleindl took the lead on lap two, before the first caution came out when Jackson Elmquist, Chris Onstot, and Kamdyn Haggard got together in turns three and four. Kleindl continued to lead through the caution on lap three for Jacob Ashley in turn two. Keindl looked to be heading on to the race win, but two more cautions came out on lap five: Camdan Vincent, Onstot, and Bradly Ivy got together in turn three, and then Elmquist in turn two on the restart. Kleindl again was not fazed; meanwhile, Gage Hilgenberg worked his way through the field, and Hilgenberg took the lead away on lap 17. Hilgenberg went on to capture the win, with Kleindl, Jessiah Taylor, Pittman, and Vincent rounding out the top five.

Next week at the Boone Speedway is the 11th Annual P1P Modified Challenge plus the Watermelon Classic featuring two $1,000-to-win Modified Races. IMCA Stock Cars are $1,000 to win, IMCA Sport Mods $600 to win, IMCA Hobby Stocks $500 to win, and IMCA Mod Lites $300 to win. Pits open at 4:30p, grandstands open at 5:30p, hot laps at 6p, and racing at 7p. Grandstands $20 for Adults, Youth (13-17) $5 and Kids 12 & under Free. Pit Pass is $30.

The following week begins 8 straight nights of racing, starting with the Napa Auto Parts Prelude to the Super Nationals on August 30th and 31st, plus the IMCA Mod Lites Super Nationals Champion Crowned. Then September 1st through 6th is the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals Fueled by Casey's.

Braaksma, Sachau, and Reynolds Take Harris Clash Crowns

This past weekend, I worked races at "America's Bucket List Track," Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway (flagging), and "The Figure 8 Capital of the World," Brooklyn Raceway (race directing/scoring). That means no blog recaps from those races, but when I don't work the races and I adventure to the track, that means a blog recap.

When it was announced the Harris Clash was moving back to Iowa from the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, it was immediately back on my schedule; however, the original date wasn't going to work, but when it got postponed to August 5th, it was a no-brainer. So on Tuesday night, I made the trip to Boone for the 34th Annual Harris Clash presented by Wehrs Machine and Racing Products at the Boone Speedway.

It was the 34th year for the IMCA Modifieds, the 19th for the IMCA Northern Sport Mods, and the 1st ever appearance for the IMCA Stock Cars. Harris Clash returned to Boone for the first time since 1994, when Bill Davis Sr. won the 3rd annual event. Since the last time it was in Boone, it was in Harlan in 1995, Knoxville 1996-2014, Webster City 2015-2017, and Deer Creek 2018-2024.

A total of two hundred and thirty-one cars signed in for the Harris Clash: 79 IMCA Modifieds, 81 IMCA Stock Cars, and 71 IMCA Northern Sport Mods. The racing action was hot and heavy all night long with a combined 25 heat races, 12 B-features, and 3 feature events; first-time Harris Clash winners took the checkers. The final checkered flag waved at 12:18 am.

Job well done goes out to Bob and Bobby Harris and their amazing team at Bob Harris Enterprises, Brett Root and the team at IMCA, Coty Mallicoat, Sara Robbins, and the rest of the amazing team at Boone Speedway. The racing surface was in amazing shape all night, so a round of applause to "Dirt Doctor" Rod Robbins and the track prep team. Fantastic job by Chad Meyer and Jerry Vansickel on the announcing duties all night.

The first feature of the night was the Inaugural IMCA Stock Car Harris Clash 25-lap feature event presented by B&B Chassis. David Smith and Kaden Reynolds, former King of the Katwalks winner, led the field to the green flag. Reynolds jumped out to the early lead and set sail away as Smith battled with Jay Schmidt for second. Reynolds built up a large lead only until the first caution came out on lap nine for a spring in turn one. Reynolds got a great restart and again cruised away until a caution on lap 22 when Kyle Olson came to a stop in turn two. Reynolds hung on to take the feature win and pocket a $3,000 prize. Schmidt finished second; Lucas Oil Late Model Racer Ricky Thornton Jr. was the hard-charger, passing 13 cars to finish third. Smith fell back to fourth, and Braden Richards was fifth.

In the IMCA Northern Sport Mods 20-lap Harris Clash feature event sponsored by Fast Shafts, Ben Reierson checked out early. Reierson led the majority of the feature until a caution on lap ten for Brandon Dale spinning in turn one bunched the field up. Reierson had to contend with Tyler Nerud and Jake Sachau. Nerud took the top spot away on the top side and looked to be heading on to capture the win, but a caution came out on lap 19 for Chris Webb in turn two, forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Nerud left the bottom open on the restart, and Sachau pounced as they made contact coming to the white flag. Sachau went on to capture the $2,000 top prize and the feature win, becoming the 15th different Sport Mod Harris Clash winner since 2006. Rookie Mike Smith battled from 8th to finish runner-up. Twelfth-place starter Brayton Carter, Nerud, and Matt Avila rounded out the top five. Hard-Charger was Jayden Pavlicek from Casselton, North Dakota, moving up ten spots, from eighteenth to eighth.

The Nightcap was the IMCA Modifieds 30-lap Harris Clash feature event presented by Wehrs Machine and Racing Products. When the green flag waved, Ethan Braaksma jumped to the race lead from the outside starting spot of the three-wide formation. Braaksma pulled away, and not even a caution on lap ten would prevent him from victory. The caution was for Scott Simatovich spinning in turn two. Braaksma pulled away from Tim Ward and Todd Shute, cruising on to the $4,000 payday to become the 26th different winner in the Modifieds. Ward finished second; fourteenth-place starter Joel Rust used the bottom after the restart on lap ten to work his way to a third-place finish. Jake McBirnie came across in fourth, and twentieth-place starter Jordan Grabouski came across in fifth. Cayden Carter was the hard-charger after starting thirty-first and coming home in tenth, moving up 21 spots.

Racing action continues at Iowa's Action Track on Saturday, August 9th, with Elmquist Towing Night. IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, and Mod Lites all chase for their Saturday Night Weekly Series titles. Pits open at 4:30p, grandstands open at 5:30p, hot laps at 6p, and racing at 7p.

The following week, August 16th, is Season Championship Night plus the John Logue First Timer Race in the Sport Mods. American Iron Racing Series vintage cars will join the fun for the first time along with the other 5 IMCA classes.

Then the IMCA Super Nationals Tune-up, P1P Challenge, and Watermelon Classic are on August 23rd; the NAPA Auto Parts Prelude to the Super Nationals is on August 30th and 31st; and the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals Fueled by Casey's is September 1st through 6th.

Thornton, Shryock, Sachau, and Pruitt Claim Salute to Veterans Win in Boone

When I saw that my schedule was open for the Salute to Veterans Night at the Boone Speedway; it was a no-brainer that I would make the trip over to capture the night with pictures and a blog recap. I got in the car around 2:45pm and arrived a little after 3:30pm to check out the Salute to Veterans Fan Zone; the final checkered flag was waved at 12:55am, and by the time I got back to the car and drove home, I pulled into my driveway at 2am.

Hunting with Heroes Salute to Veterans Tour was supposed to get started on Wednesday night at the Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer; however, that night was postponed and will be made up on Wednesday, August 6th, part of IMCA Iowa Speedweek. So instead it got It started at the Kossuth County Speedway in Algona, the birthplace of the Salute to Veterans race. Then after taking Friday night off, it returned to Iowa's Action Track, Boone Speedway, on Saturday. Hunting with Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports veterans through patriotism and outdoor pursuits in Lakota, Iowa.

Drivers racing the Salute to Veterans themes included Tripp Gaylord, Nick Meyer, and Cody Knecht in the modifieds; Shelby Williams, Ryan Roath, and Troy Jerovetz in the stock cars; Payce Herrera, Matt Avila, and Justin Klynsma in the sport mods; and Dylan Nelson, Josh Sidles, and Skylar Pruitt in the hobby stocks. The overall best Salute to Veterans car winner and Modified car winner voted on by the veterans went to Modified driver Nick Meyer from Whittemore with his US American Legion scheme. Stock car driver Shelby Williams of Bonham, Texas, won the Stock Cars vote with his "We The People" scheme. ripp Gaylord had the D-Day Invasion on June 6th, 1944 tribute; Cody Knecht had the Lifetime of Service scheme; Ryan Roath had the Coast Guard Tribute; Troy Jerovetz had Vietnam and the Orange Haze scheme; Payce Herrera had the 9/11 Tribute; Matt Avila had the "Happy Birthday Marines" and 2nd Combat Engineers scheme; Justin Klynsma had the Operation Iraqi Freedom Tribute; Dylan Nelson had the Hunting with Heroes Flush; Josh Sidles had the "We Build. We Fight!" U.S. Navy Seabees scheme; and Skylar Pruitt had the Iowa National Guard 34th Infantry - Camp Dodge scheme. Smith Farms from Lake City gave $2,000 from a fundraising BBQ they held, and Mike Smith bested his father, David Smith, in the Hunting with Heroes Facebook Fan Vote. All the Salute to Veterans wraps and drivers suits was presented by Rush by Austin Witt with support from Sybesma Graphics.

A total of two hundred thirty-eight cars checked in for the Salute to Veterans Night at Boone Speedway sponsored by Woodruff Construction and Elmquist Towing. 49 IMCA Modifieds, 49 IMCA Stock Cars, 52 IMCA Sport Mods, 61 IMCA Hobby Stocks, and 27 IMCA Mod Lites; all classes had 6 heats and at least 2 B-features except for the Mod Lites. The racing action was exciting and intense all night long; Dirt Doctor Rod Robbins and his team need to give themselves a pat on the back, as Super Nationals are a month away. Last night's track was fantastic and in Super Nationals form.

One special race was on the card for the night, and that was the Stock Cars Salute to Veterans Race of Champions presented by Gary Myers and Family. $1,000 top prize and a veteran-carved trophy to the winner. Kevin Opheim outdueled Shelby Williams for the race lead early and never looked back, going on to take the win. Johnathon Logue came home second, David Smith was third, Williams slipped back to fourth, and Troy Jerovetz was fifth.

First up was the IMCA STARS Mod Lites 15-lap feature event. "Huggie Bear" Joel Huggins grabbed the top spot early, fending off Austin Gray and Dillon Raffurty. Raffurty managed to take second away from Gray on lap three and then the race lead on lap four. Raffurty's time out front was short-lived, as he experienced mechanical issues on lap eight and exited to the infield. Gray reclaimed the lead and tried to pull away from the rest of the field. The only caution came out on lap 12 when Garrett Barber spun in turns one and two; as the yellow came out, it was quickly replaced with the red flag when Cory Sonner rolled in turn two. Gray held off Ben George and Bryan Zehm in the final eight laps to capture his sixth feature win in Boone. George finished second, Zehm was third, Jaxon Carr came across the line in fourth, and Huggins was fifth.

Colorado Springs, Colorado, racer Danny Concelman and Kelley's Cam Reimers led the field to the green flag in the IMCA Northern Sport Mods 20-lap Salute to Veterans feature event. Reimers grabbed the top spot and looked strong out front as he pulled away; meanwhile, Randy Havlik and Jake Sachau battled it out for second and third. The first caution came out on lap eight when David Schwartz and Payce Herrera got together in turn two. Sachau ended up taking the lead away from Reimers on lap 13. The final caution came out on lap 16 for debris (spring) in turn two. Sachau held off several challenges from Reimers, Matt Avila, and Mike Smith late to capture the feature win worth $1,000. Smith, Reimers, eleventh-place starter Alec Fett, and Lonsdale, Minnesota's Zach Davis, rounded out the top five.

Dylan Thornton took full advantage of his pole starting position in the IMCA Modifieds 30-lap Salute to Veterans feature by taking the early lead. The first caution came out shortly after the completion of lap one when Nick Meyer spun in turns three and four. Thornton held off Kelly Shryock but couldn't get separation because the caution was displayed again on lap three when Colton Nelson spun in turn two. Thornton was able to pull away, but one more caution came out on lap 11 when Josh Most and Meyer got together in turns three and four. Thornton this time was able to get a great restart and pull away and cruise on to take the $3,000 to win feature win. Kollin Hibdon was second, a nineteenth-place starter. Tom Berry Jr. came home in third, twenty-first-place starter Todd Shute was fourth, and eighteenth-place starter Jake McBirnie was fifth.

In the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 25-lap Salute to Veterans feature event, the veteran Kelly Shryock from Fertile jumped out to the race lead. John Oliver Jr. from West Burlington tried to apply pressure but couldn't get by, allowing Shryock to pull away. Only one race caution came out on lap 19 for debris (pipe) on the top side of turn two. Shryock was not going to be denied as he held off Oliver and Cayden Carter to capture the feature win worth $2,000. Carter got by Oliver for second, Oliver was third, Jake Master took fourth, and tenth-place starter Jimmy Gustin captured fifth.

The final feature of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stocks Salute to Veterans 20-lapper. Skylar Pruitt outwrestled Adam Hensel early for the race lead and pulled away. Pruitt then fought off eighth-place starter Dylan Nelson and "Topless" Joe Doran, tenth-place starter, late in the race. Pruitt went on to capture his second feature win in Boone this year, but this one was worth $1,000 and had a special meaning. Nelson, Doran, Hensel, and eleventh-place starter Will Smith rounded out the top five.

Next week, the month of August kicks off with a Saturday Night Series Weekly Race Night, plus the IMCA Sport Compacts swarm in for their Pre-Super Nationals Tune-Up. Dale DeFrance Memorial Race Postponed; Grundy County Fair Races?

With the rain early in the week and Thursday morning, the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway was forced to postpone the Dale DeFrance Memorial presented by Vinyl Cup Records featuring the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing Series to Friday, August 22nd, because the grounds were extremely saturated.

Marshalltown has adjusted their August schedule: August 1st will be Midwest Liquid Systems Night featuring $1,000 to win Stock Cars, August 8th will be KIX101.1 Make-up Night, August 15th will now be the North 3rd Avenue Dairy Queen Larry Wollam Season Championships, the Dale DeFrance Memorial will be on the 22nd, followed by the Karl Auto Group Showdown at Motown on August 29th.

IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, and IMCA Hobby Stocks will be all the nights. IMCA Sport Compacts and IMCA Mod Lites race all nights except for the rescheduled Dale DeFrance Memorial.

So that meant my Friday night was open to go somewhere else for racing. My initial plan was to head to the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City for the Malvern Bank 360 Sprints or head to the Cedar County Raceway in Tipton for the Gary Reinhart Memorial, but after it was apparent that I was not going to make it in time for either of those races, there was only one option left. The Grundy County Fairgrounds in Grundy Center was having Grundy County Fair Figure 8 Races, so the decision was made to make the 30-minute drive and capture some pictures.

I say capture images because I did not get names of the drivers, so there won't be much of a blog recap. I arrived around 5:45pm, walked around the pits for a bit, grabbed something to eat, and then got ready to take pictures. I want to thank the Grundy County Fairboard for letting me come and capture some pictures.

A total of one hundred and three entries checked in over 5 classes. The largest class was the Small Cars with 40, so they were split into 2 features. Old School Figure 8 class had 20 entries, Mini-Madness had 21 entries, Cruisers had 12, and Open Figure 8 had 9 cars. All cars transferred out of the heats with no b-features since they had Tyler Richton & The High Bank Boys playing after the races in the 1851 Pavilion. The Grundy County Speedway Figure 8 Races are working in conjunction with the Butler County Figure 8 Races in Allison, and they share the same rules.

One More Race is a 2-day special at the Grundy County Speedway on August 22nd and 23rd. Bands after the Races are No Smoking on the Grounds on the 22nd and The Smokin' Yotes on the 23rd in the 1851 Pavilion.
