Racing In Iowa Gets Underway This Weekend

Well after a long winter we have finally made it to racing season in iowa once again. Now my winter has been filled with racing action because i attended and then later announced go-kart races but now its time for the start of stock car season in iowa.

This weekend will get underway with the Tripleheader Frostbuster Weekend, Deery Series Season Opener at Dubuque and Season Openers at Mason City in Iowa this weekend.

There will be a Practice Session on Thursday March 31st at the Marshalltown Speedway with the gates open at 5p, Practice from 7-9p, Pit Pass $10, Grandstands Free.

Then the Tripleheader Frostbuster Weekend will get rolling at the Marshalltown Speedway "What Friday Nights Are Made For" on Friday Night April 1st with the gates opening at 4p, Draw Closes and Hot Laps at 6:15p, Racing at 7p with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and Mod Lites competing. In the history of the frostbuster at Marshalltown, mother nature has won 5 times (2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2010) and the Modifieds, Sport Mods and Mod Lites have had no repeat winners during their features in the other years since 2002. Sport Mods and Mod Lites have only ran in 2008 and 2009 because of the weather out shows in 2006, 2007 and 2010.

Then after Marshalltown they will make the 53 mile trek from Marshalltown to the "Home of IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals" Boone Speedway on Saturday April 2nd with the gates opening at 2p, Hot Laps at 4p, Racing at 5p with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Hobby Stocks competing.

After Boone they will make the 113 mile trek from Boone to the "Birthplace of IMCA Modifieds" Benton County Speedway in Vinton on Sunday April 3rd with the gates opening at 3p, Hot Laps at 3:30p, Racing at 4p with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts competing.

Pit Pass $25 each night, Entry Fees each night are $30 for the Modifieds, $25 for the Stock Cars, $20 for the Sport Mods & Hobby Stocks, no entry fee for the Mod Lites and Sport Compacts. $1,000 to win and Fast Shaft All-Star Invitational Qualifer for the IMCA Modifieds, $500 to win IMCA Stock Cars, $400 to win IMCA Sport Mods, $250 to win IMCA Hobby Stocks each night and $500 to win Mod Lites in Marshalltown and $125 to win IMCA Sport Compacts in Vinton. The Mod Lites are actually on a progressive pay scale and you can check that out at http://www.madcra.org/

Meanwhile on Saturday April 2nd 196 miles away from the Boone Speedway, the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series open their 25th Anniversary season at the Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway in Dubuque. Also competing will be SPI Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Compacts, Pit Gates Open at 4p, Grandstands at 5p, Hot Laps at 6:30p, Racing to Follow.

Meanwhile on Sunday April 3rd 120 miles away from the Benton County Speedway the I-35 Speedway in Mason City opens its 2011 racing season with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Pro and Novice Hornets with Hot Laps at 6p and Racing to Follow.

The one thing common about all these shows is they all are mandatory to have a RACEceivers so if you don't have one yet make sure you stop by Speedway Motors, JR Motorsports or Peformance Bodies and get one for this weekend.

Well until next week when i recap the weekend's racing action....this is Foxman aka Jeremy Fox saying, "See you at the races!"

Up next for me is the Marshalltown Speedway Car Show and Practice this weekend and then next weekend's Tripleheader Frostbuster Weekend at Marshalltown, Boone and Vinton. With all that Racing that means my ramblings will happening every week.
