By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (August 14th, 2015) – Many have asked when the IMCA Late Models was going to take to the high banks of Marshalltown again, well on Friday Night was the night. A very beautiful Friday Night saw great two, three and four wide racing on Central Iowa Snowmobile Club Night.

Richie Gustin (IMCA Late Models), Chris Abelson (IMCA Modifieds), Damon Murty (IMCA Stock Cars), Curt Hilmer (IMCA Northern SportMods), Eric Stanton (IMCA Hobby Stocks) and Josh May (Mod Lites) all made visits to victory lane.

Todd Cooney grabbed the early lead In the Rumours Sports Bar & Grill IMCA Late Models 20 lap feature but just after one lap the caution came out when Mark Hurst spun in turn two. Cooney had to contend with Paul Nagle and Richie Gustin on the restart. Cooney got a great restart but so did Gustin and began to battle for the lead before the caution came out when Nagle slid off the top side of turns three and four. Cooney and Gustin raced wheel to wheel for the lead but it was Cooney still leading at the stripe. Gustin was able to complete the pass for the lead on lap 11 and would not let the caution on lap 14 deny him the victory. Cooney settled for second, Darren Ackerman took third from crowd favorite Darrel DeFrance. Chad Holladay was fifth.

Jake Strayer started inside row two of the Coors Light IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature but by the end of lap one, Strayer found himself in the lead. Strayer held off several challenges from Joel Rust in first half of the feature but when the caution came out on lap ten, Strayer and Rust saw Chris Abelson. Abelson took the lead away on the restart but just after lap 11 was scored the caution came out when Rust spun in turn two. Abelson went on to take the win ahead of Jimmy Gustin, Strayer, Nick Deal and Ronn Lauritzen.

Matt Deaton led the first three laps of the Miller Lite IMCA Stock Cars feature but it was Damon Murty taking the lead away on lap four. Murty saw Tyler Pickett, Steve Meyer, Robert Stofer and Jeff Wollam battling for position behind him until a caution came out on lap nine. Murty held on to take the win. Steve Meyer edged out Michael Jaennette for second. Donavon Smith was fourth and Robert Stofer was fifth.

Before a single laps was completed in the Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks feature, the caution came out for Justin Lovig spun in turn two. Tim Barber grabbed the lead but by lap three, Eric Stanton worked his way up to the top spot. Stanton went on to take win six at Motown. Austin Luellen held off Bill Bonnett for second. Gary Pfantz was fourth and Eugene Nicklas was fifth.

Ethan Braaksma and Bill Hildreth led the field to the green in the 18 lap IMCA Northern SportMod feature and by the end of lap one, Hildreth was the lead. That lead was short lived because Curt Hilmer took the top spot away just before a pair of cautions. Hilmer saw Jake McBirnie work his way to second and Sam Wieben to third by the time the caution came out on lap seven. Hilmer went on to take his second win at Motown on his final Friday Night free as next week begins coaching football. Brandon Williams, Austin Kaplan, Jared Van Deest and Dan Drury round out the top five.
