Snyder, Smith, Smith and Watson are the Winners at the Boone Speedway Frostbuster

Well after the long night the night before it was time for me to make the annual trek west to the Boone Speedway "Home of Super Nationals" in Boone for the 2nd Night of the Tripleheader Frostbuster Weekend. Along with the IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and Sport Mods racing some of the Mod Lites were on hands to get ready for the upcoming season.

Before the features would get going the Mod Lites would have a quick hot lap session and the Mod Lites that were in attendance were 4L Larry Sorenson, 76 Terry Sorenson, 9 Rick Taylor, 09 car, 64 Randy Bryan, 15 Andy Hennigar and 3C Duane Coffman.

The first feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Mod 20 lap feature. Doug Smith would nab the top spot early  on and hold on to the top spot until lap 5 when he was passed by Clint Luellen. Luellen would hold on to the top spot until lap 14 when Smith would take the lead back over. Smith would go on and take the win in the feature that went green to checkered. Luellen was 2nd, Austin Lucas was 3rd, Scott Davis was 4th and Eric Mahlik from Wisconsin was 5th.

IMCA Modifieds were up next for their 25 lap feature. Jon Snyder would take the lead but after 1 lap was in the book the first race caution came out when Davin Emmel would spin out in turn 4. Snyder would continue to lead the field and would see another caution on lap 6 when Mark Elliott, Ed Turnbull and Russ Dickerson got together. That wouldn't faze Snyder because he would remain out front only to see 3 more cautions on lap 9 and 10. There was 2 cautions on lap 9, first for Austin Wolf spinning in turn 2 and then on the restart when Denny Pittman in turn 2. Snyder and the field would get another lap completed before the final race caution came out on lap 10 when Cale Sponsler spun in turn 1 and 2. Snyder would not let them bother him as he would go on and take the win. Jimmy Gustin would take 2nd, Todd Inman was 3rd, Richie Gustin was 4th and Jeremy Mills was 5th.

Next up was the IMCA Stock Cars for their 20 lap feature and it was a track regular at the Independence Motor Speedway "Stormin" Norman Chesmore jumping out to the race lead. Chesmore would lose the lead though on lap 3 to Ryan Rose. Rose and Chesmore would battle and Chesmore would take the lead back over on lap 4 and 5 but then it was time for Donavon Smith start battling with Rose and Chesmore for the lead. Smith would make the pass on lap 8 and the only thing slowing him down was a caution on lap 16 when Stefan Sybesma would spin out in turn 4. Smith would still manage and cruise on to the win, Trent Murphy would end up 2nd, John Heinz was 3rd, Norman Chesmore was 4th and Ryan Rose was 5th.

The final feature of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stocks for their 15 lap feature. It was Boxholm's Tyler Pickett taking the lead on lap 1 but then it was the racing veteran Randy Embrey leading on lap 2. Then the first of 3 cautions came out on lap 2 when Chris Hupp came to a stop on the front stretch. Embrey would have to do battle with Vince Buchholz on the restart and Embrey would lead lap 3 but then it was Buchholz taking the lead. 2nd race caution came out on lap 6 when  Blake Miller would spin in turn 4. Buchholz would remain out front but then on the next lap he would have his throttle stick and go off the top of turn 4 and would bring the caution out on lap 7. So since we techincally didn't have a leader since he went off the top of turn 4, we would see John Watson and Devin Smith battle for the lead. Watson would win that battle and go on and take the win with Smith in 2nd, Cody Nielsen in 3rd, Eric Stanton in 4th and Michael Murphy was 5th.

Racing would come to and end at 10:33p. Tripleheader Frostbuster Weekend would then head off to the Benton County Speedway on Sunday to wrap it up.

Track points begin on Saturday Night April 9th with Pit Gates opening at 5:30p, Grandstands at 6p, Hot Laps at 6:45p, Racing at 7:30p.
