Eckrich finish 1 and 2 in Late Models, Gustin and Morrill win again at Marshalltown

The speedway was back to action on Tuesday Night and on this night the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models would make their appearance at Marshalltown along with IMCA SportMods and Mod Lites.

The heat races were run without any major incidents and all of the heat races would be completed in an hour. In the Late Model B-Main however would see 2 rollovers the first was Curt Martin rolling on the front stretch, Martin would be okay and then a few laps later it was Jeff Mitrisin rolling off turn 2. Mitrisin would also be okay.

O’Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites feature would see Josh May take the lead and as it appeared May would be going on to the win the caution would come out on lap 8. On the restart, May would have to deal with Andy Hennigar and Mike Morrill. Morrill would make the move and take the lead from May and end up going on to the win. Hennigar would also get by to take 2nd and Dusty Masolini would end up 3rd as May would end up 4th after experiencing trouble coming off turn 4 and Bryan Zehm rounded out the top 5.

In the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods feature it was Andy Tiernan taking the early race lead but Jenae Gustin would make her way to the lead on lap 3. The first race caution came out on lap 5 for a car sitting in turn 2 and on the restart Gustin would have to deal with Sam Wieben and Eric Elliott. Gustin and Elliott would start to battle before Gustin was able to make the move and start to pull away until the final race caution came out on lap 15 for debris on the front stretch. Gustin would manage to hold off several challenges by Elliott to take the win. Racer Hulin would race his way up from 12th to 2nd. Austin Kaplan came home in 3rd after starting 10th. Elliott and Joel Rust rounded out the top 5.

The final feature of the night was Miller Late 50 for the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series and it was Bryan Klein and Andy Eckrich winning the card game to start on the front row. Andy Eckrich would take the lead early and would hold the top spot until lap 16 when he got slowed by lap traffic. That opened the door for Denny Eckrich to get by and take the lead. Denny Eckrich would go on and take the win in the green-to-checkered feature despite several challenges from Andy Eckrich. Finishing behind the Denny and Andy was Jeff Aikey, Tyler Bruening and Mike Murphy Jr.
