Mother Nature takes Checkers in Three of Four Features at Boone’s Frostbuster

Boone, Iowa (April 12th, 2014) – Mother Nature tried not once but twice to take checkers in boone and the second she was successful. That did not stop 140 cars signing in to battle on Iowa's Action Track.
First rain delay came after all the qualifying heat races were completed and b mains in the Hobby Stocks and Sport Mods. Modified b mains were on the track when it rained out. After the rain delay they finished the b-mains and ran the IMCA Northern SportMods.
Ben Kates led the first lap in the IMCA Northern SportMods feature but the caution came out for debris in turn one. Kates jump out to the lead again only to see the caution came out lap three. Kates again grabbed the lead and pull away and started to see lap traffic before another caution was displayed on lap 13 when Tara Longnecker spun in turn two. Kates and the field finished the last seven laps with a little sprinkle falling out of the sky. Kates took the win, Smith finished second, Jon Schultz was third, Clint Luellen was fourth and Tim Love was fifth.
Just as the IMCA Modifieds feature came out on the track it started to rain the second time and this time mother nature would win.
Boone Speedway Officials have opted to make up the rained out features next Saturday as a part of the season opener next Saturday. The will be a Racing Rascal Eggstravaganza and Adult Bunny Hop. During the month of April, Hot Laps at 5pm and Racing at 6pm.
