Sobbing, Carter, VanDenBerg and Anderson Take Checkers at Osky’s Frostbuster

Iowa (April 10th, 2014) – Mother Nature did not cooperate this spring
which forced the originally scheduled Musco Lighting and Supreme Lawn
and Landscaping Frostbuster to be postponed one week but that made for a
great night of racing. The track was in amazing shape thanks to
Promoter Mike Van
Genderen doing his magic to the racing surface.
First feature of
the night was the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature and it Shannon Anderson and
Dustin Griffiths leading the field to the green. Anderson jumped to the
lead but saw several challenges by Griffiths in the early going. The
only caution was displayed on lap ten when Jason See spun in turn two.
On the restart, Eric Stanton got by Griffiths for second and set his
sights on Anderson but was unable to pass Anderson. Anderson took the
win, Stanton was second, Griffiths third, Danny Thrasher fourth and John
Watson fifth.
Before a lap was completed in the IMCA Northern
Sport Mods feature, the red flag was displayed as several cars got
collected up in turn four, all of them was unable to continue. When the
race finally got started it was Jenae Gustin grabbing the lead and she
started to pull away only to see the yellow displayed again on lap five
and ten. This time though, Gustin saw Carter VanDenBerg and Jason
McDaniel pass her. VanDenBerg went on to take the win with McDaniel and
Gustin in second and third respectively. Justin Medler from North Dakota
was fourth and Clint Luellen was fifth.
In
the IMCA Stock Car feature it was Cayden Carter grabbing the lead but
just after the completion of lap two the caution came out when Corey
Stout got into the outside wall in turn four. That would not bother
Carter as he pulled away on the restart and went on to taking the win.
Damon Murty came home in second, Brad Pinkerton finished third after
starting 11th, Todd Reitzler was third with Donavon Nunnikhoven working
his way to fourth and Cody Agee came home fifth.
Final feature
of the night was the IMCA Modifieds, after seeing outside front row
starter Luke Wanninger experience motor issues Cayden Carter moved up to
the front row. Carter took advantage as he grabbed the early lead from
Richie Gustin. Carter continued to lead meanwhile Jesse Sobbing was able
to get by Gustin for second. Sobbing set his sights on Carter and was
able to take the lead after lap nine. Sobbing went on to take the win
over Carter, Richie Gustin, Jimmy Gustin and Jacob
Murray.
Next Wednesday Night will be the start to weekly points
as it will be Pro-Line Buildings and WCM Metalworks Night at the races.
Also on hand will be the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing 360 Sprint
Invaders Series. Hot Laps at 6:30 p.m. and Racing at 7:15 p.m.
