Walker, Chandler, Hughes, Schroeder, Sobbing and Reitzler Winners on McDonalds Night

After taking 2 weeks off because of Southern Iowa Sprint Week and the drivers voting to take a week off, the Southern Iowa Speedway return back to action on McDonald's and Mahaska Bowl Night. There would be a Candy Dash and Car Rides for the youngers that were in attendance despite many kids going back to school. Also on hand would be Ronald McDonald himself.

First feature of the night was Iowa Sportsman Series 20 lap feature. Dave Scrandrett took the early race lead but he would expierence some troubles and give the lead over to Dave Rodda. Rodda would lead until lap traffic would start to get in the way and that would allow Kris Walker from Oskaloosa to sneak by to take the lead. Walker would go on and take the win with Rodda in 2nd. Gene Tish was 3rd, Aaron Martin was 4th amd Travis Dawson was 5th.

Autocrafters/Whalen Racing IMCA Sport Compacts feature was up next and it would be a great start as John Whalen would take the lead on lap 1 but coming by to finish the 2nd lap Whalen would blow up and give the lead over to Brad Chandler, who would get by his dad Merv Chandler the lap before for 2nd. Brad Chandler would hold on to take the win over his father Merv Chandler and Bill Whalen Jr.

In the Tracy Elevator IMCA Hobby Stock feature it was Justin Hook leading the first 2 laps before Craig Brown would take over. Brown would lose the lead to Mike Hughes on lap 5. Hughes would lead the remaining laps to take the win. Shannon Anderson would work his way up and end up finishing 2nd, Brown was 3rd, Hook was 4th and Adam Bonnett was 5th.

Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds would be short handed on cars so the feature was cut down in laps too. Andrew Schroeder took full adavantage as he would lead all the laps to take the win. Dakota Hayden has his best finish at Osky by finishing 2nd. Mark Widmar was 3rd, Brandon Banks was 4th and Scott Dickey was 5th.

Bill Gibson would lead the first lap in the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA SportMods feature but it was Eric Flander taking the lead on lap 2. Flander appeared to be cruising away when the yellow came out on lap 12 for debris in turn 3 and that would put Jesse Sobbing on Flander's bumper. Flander would hold Sobbing off for a couple of laps but finally Sobbing was able to get by and then the yellow would come out for oil on the track. Sobbing would hold on to take the win, Curtis VanDerWal was 2nd, Bill Gibson was 3rd, Flander was 4th and Carter Vandenberg was 5th.

Final feature of the night was the Carter's Manufacturing IMCA Stock Cars feature and it was Todd Reitzler leading from start-to-finish in the feature that would go green-to-checkered. Zack Vanderbeek worked his way up and finishing 2nd right behind Reitzler, Matt Griener was 3rd, Brad Pinkerton was 4th and Corey Stout was 5th.

Next Wednesday Night will be KBOE Radio/Pepsi Cola Season Championship night with all 5 regular classes runninng plus the Mod Lites join the program. All feature winners in the top 4 classes will receive extra money courtesy of Edel Lawncare. Also any resident of Newton or Grinnell with the proof of residence they can get in for $5. That won't be the final race of the year though as the 26th Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge on October 5th and 6th.
