By Jeremy Fox

Oskaloosa, Iowa (May 15th, 2013) – First time this season, the weather on Wednesday night was beautiful and Speedway Officials wasn’t worry about looking at the radar. Temperatures where in the eighties all day long and that made for the task of keeping moisture in the track but the crew did and the racing was fantastic come feature time on Kelderman’s Hobby Shack Night.

Also on the night we had all of the heat race winners race RC cars on the frontstretch during intermission as well other drivers walked through the crowd to collect money for Mark Widmar, a race car driver that was injured a few weeks ago. There was several items auction off that drivers donated to go toward the cause. The total collection on the night was $2,497.65 with $1,420.65 coming from the drivers walking through the crowd and $1,077.00 came from the items auction off through out the night. There will be more items off over the next couple of weeks.

Jeff Waterman grabbed the early lead in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified feature but Jacob Murray and Todd Shute chased him down. Murray jumped the cushion and that allowed Shute to get by for second, Shute then set his sights on Waterman. Shute made the pass on Waterman on lap 12, Murray got by Waterman 2 laps later. Murray tried to get by Shute but failed until coming to the white flag on lap 17. Murray took the win with Shute finishing 2nd and Waterman in 3rd. Cayden Carter and Adam Larson rounded out the top 5.

In the IMCA Sport Compacts feature it was Merv Chandler leading from start to finish. John Whalen and Bill Whalen Jr battled behind for the second and third position behind Chandler. John Whalen grabbed the second spot on the last lap, Bill Whalen Jr. finished 3rd. Trent Orwig was fourth and Shawn Cooney was fifth.

Ryan Fullenkamp jumped to the lead in the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA Sport Mods feature but then the caution waved on lap 4 when several cars spun in turn 2. Fullenkamp pulled away on the restart and appeared to be pulling away until he had his hands full as Brett Lowry, Carter VanDenBerg and Curtis VanDerWal was right there, Fullenkamp held off any challenges to take the win. Lowry finish second, VanDenBerg was third, VanDerWal was fourth and Jason McDaniel was fifth.

Jason See lead the first 2 laps in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks feature but he was passed by Dale Porter. Porter look to be pulling away until Mike Hughes started to chase him down. The caution waved on lap 6 when Travis Bunnell lost a driveshaft. On the restart, Mike Hughes grabbed the lead away from Porter and pulled away. Porter finish second over Dustin Griffiths. Bill Bonnett and Jamie Songer rounded out the top 5.

In the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car feature it was Brad Pinkerton leading the first 5 laps before the yellow flag waved when Jeff Joldersma spun on the frontstretch. Zack Vanderbeek made the pass on Pinkerton on the restart, Pinkerton exited to the pits on lap 10 with some mechanical issues. Vanderbeek went on to the win with a hard-charging Nathan Wood finishing 2nd. Jason Cook, Kris Walker and Shane Richardson finished 3rd through 5th.
