By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (July 12th,  2013) – Multi grooved racing surface produced some great racing on the initial start of many races tonight and that produced some great racing all through the night. Fans in attendance experience extra excitement when the spectators race their personal cars in spectator eliminators. One driver gets his first win in four years, another driver gets his first win of the season at MoTown.

After the initial start was called back in the IMCA Sport Compacts feature, John Gill grabbed the early lead. Gill slid up the race track on lap 3 and that opened the door for David Moorman to grab the lead. Moorman slides off the backstretch the next lap but still continued to lead before Merv Chandler finally worked his way to the lead on lap 6. Chandler went on to take the win, Moorman tried to work it so hard to take the win on the last lap coming off of turn 4 but failed when he hit the wall that allowed John Gill to sneak by for second. Duayne Herb was fourth and Chad Larson was fifth.

Mike Kennedy grabbed the lead on lap one in the Toby K’s Hideaway Mod Lite feature but Randy Bryan took the spot away. Bryan held on to the lead until Andy Hennigar, who worked his way from eighth to second was able to grab the lead way on lap six. Hennigar went on to take his sixth win of the season at MoTown despite challenges from Josh May late in the race. Josh May finish second and Bryan was third. Dusty Masolini and Jimmy May rounded out the top 5.

Before a lap was completed in the Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Hobby Stocks feature, the caution waved when Eric Stanton spun in turn two. On the restart it was Dustin Tapp grabbing the lead but on lap two, Tapp slide off the race track handing the lead over to Eugene Nicklas. Nicklas lead the rest of the way to take his first win since May 29th, 2009 at MoTown. Gary Pfantz, Eric Stanton, Garrett Eilander and Bill Bonnett finish second through fifth.

The Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA SportMods feature had some troubles getting started when the race did there was some great 3 wide racing. Chad Ryerson grabbed the lead on lap one and shortly after the field was scored the caution waved when a handful of cars got together in turn two. Ryerson was able to hold on to the top spot until the next caution waved on lap four. Ryerson lost the hand on lap five in turn 2 that also collected a handful of cars in turn 2 this handed the lead over to Johnathan Logue. Logue lost the lead to Joel Rust on the restart and it was Rust that lead the rest of the way despite a couple of cautions late. Travis Peterson came home in the runner-up position. Paul Nagle was third, Geoff Olson was fourth and Jenae Gustin was fifth.

For the second week in a row it was Jay Schmidt grabbing the lead right away in the Amsoil IMCA Stock Car feature but just after the completion of lap two the caution waved. Schmidt got a great restart and they were racing hard behind him though for positions as they were getting 3 wide at times before settling down just before the caution waved for the final time when Tracy Gienger had something break. Schmidt went on to take his third win in a row at MoTown. Damon Murty worked his way to finish second, Steve Meyer finished third, Jeff Wollam was fourth and Scott Pippert in fifth.
