Great Racing All Night  on U.S. Cellular Night at the Hamilton County Speedway

Webster City, Iowa (July 13th, 2013)
– Another great night of racing at the historic half mile, the Hamilton County Speedway on U.S. Cellular Night. The race track saw some great three and four wide which produced some great racing for the fans in attendance.

Ryan Bryant jumped into the early lead in the IMCA Sport Compacts feature before Adam Strunk chased him down and grabbed the lead away on lap seven. Strunk went on to grab his third win in a row and fourth of the season at Hamilton County. Dustin Haggard passed Bryant for second. Danny Sassman Jr. came home in fifth.

In the George White Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds feature it was Devin Havlik grabbing the lead and Havlik was hooked as he pulled away until the caution waved on lap six when Rodney Slagle, driving Greg Elliott’s car, got in to the turn one wall. Havlik pulled away again on the restart to go and take his second win of the season at HCS. Scott Olson, Mark Elliott, Bill Crimmins and Tyler Prochaska finished second through fifth.

Roger Haupt grabbed the lead early in the Casady Brothers Implement IMCA Hobby Stocks feature meanwhile behind him they were racing three and four wide. Haupt lost the lead to Myles Michehl on lap two. Michehl was eventually chase down by Cory Roe but every attempt by Roe to grab the top spot failed. Michehl took his second win in as many weeks, Roe came home in the runner up position. Craig Graham, Ty Griffith and Cody Nielsen rounded out the top 5.

Ben Nading took the early lead in the Motor Inn Of Webster City IMCA Late Models feature but the caution waved when Darrel DeFrance and Craig Jacobs got together in turn two. Jacobs pulled in meanwhile DeFrance rejoined the field. On the restart, Nading had Ryan Griffith and Jeremy Grady on his back bumper. Griffith grabbed the lead away on lap four meanwhile Grady grabbed second away from Nading. Griffith went on to take his fourth win of the season. Jeremy Grady, gets his best finish with a runner up finish. Ben Nading was third, Jason Hahne came home in fourth and Al Johnson was in fifth.

Chase Ellingson started right where he left the week before by grabbing the lead on lap one in the Conley Trucking IMCA Sport Mods feature. Brandon Leeman grabbed the lead away on lap two from Ellingson, a lap later the caution waved when Ellingson made contact with the outside wall in turn four. On the restart the caution waved again when three other cars got together in turn three. Leeman had Joel Rust and Bob Sutherland on his back bumper, Rust grabbed the lead away on lap five. Rust and the field saw the caution waved three times on lap six and seven. Rust however didn’t let them bother him as he went on to take his first at HCS and second win of the weekend. Bob Sutherland, Aaron Benson and Brandon Leeman finished second through fourth. Matt Lettow, worked his way from twenty-third to fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Chalfant Plumbing Stock Car feature and it was Dennis Plain leading lap one but Jim Mitchell grabbed the lead away on lap two. Mitchell and the field saw the caution wave on lap three when Plain spun in turn one. On the restart, Mitchell had to deal with Mark Elliott and Ryan Caquelin, Elliott eventuall made the pass on Mitchell to take the lead. Meanwhile Damon Murty and Steve Meyer worked their way through the field, both got by Mitchell for second and third. Elliott crossed the line in first but was disqualified in post race tech inspection giving the win over to Damon Murty. Meyer was credited with second, Jim Mitchell with third, John Campbell and Ryan Leeman in fourth and fifth.

A Busy week of racing is ahead at the historic half mile as on Wednesday Night the speedway will host the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Models and United States Modified Touring Series. Then its back to weekly racing as it will be Gridiron Sports Bar and Grill Night at the Races.
