Oskaloosa, Iowa (July 9th, 2014) – A start to a busy week of racing at the Southern Iowa Speedway as the Dave Lowry Memorial sponsored by Monte Motor Parts, your NAPA Auto Parts Store in Montezuma. It was also Trick or Treat in July Night where the youngster was asked to wear costumes and do a little trick or treating on the frontstretch at intermission.
First feature of the night was the KBOE Radio IMCA SportMods 16 lap event. Ryan Fullenkamp started outside row number two but the end of lap one he found himself out front. Fullenkamp led the entire distance in the feature that would go caution free taking his first win of the season at Osky. Curtis Vanderwal finished in the second spot, Vanderwal had his shocks claimed by Tony Johnson and he accepted. Points Leader Jason McDaniel finished third, Brett Lowry was fourth and Brayton Carter was fifth.
Out next was the Pepsi Cola Mahaska Bottling Company IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature. Steve Allen lead the first lap but "The Dude" Danny Thrasher took the lead away on lap two. Infortunately for Thrasher the lead was short lived because as he came to the completion of lap three, the power plant blew up. That forced a caution and that would hand the lead over to Mike Hughes. Hughes saw Dustin Griffiths knocking on his back side the rest of the way including after the final race caution on lap seven for Shannon Sherwood experienced troubles. Hughes went on to take his seven win of the season and third win in a row at SIS. Griffiths, Craig Brown, Nick Ulin and Aaron Osweiler rounded out the top five.
In the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, it was Michael Peterson leading the first four laps. Bob Lynch grabbed the lead on lap four before the caution came out for Brock Welch in turn two. Lynch lost the lead to Corey Stout. Stout lead until he saw the "Orange Crush" Team right behind him. Cayden Carter took the lead away on lap eight and lead the remaining laps to take his third win. Stout held off Zack Vanderbeek for the second spot. Donavon Nunnikhoven was fourth and Kris Walker was fifth.
Bill Whalen lead all ten laps in the IMCA Sport Compacts to take his fourth win of the season at SIS. John Whalen ran second the entire way meanwhile Tim Bevins took the third spot away from Matt Moore on lap three. Moore was fourth and Matt Beal was fifth.
Final Feature of the night was Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds feature. Cayden Carter jumped to the early lead and never looked back as he went on to take his first win of the season. Scott Dickey ran second to Carter the entire distance. Colt Mather took the third spot away from Jesse Sobbing on the last lap. Andrew Schroeder finished fifth.
Next week the Southern Iowa Speedway will have back-to-back nights of racing during the Southern Iowa Fair sponsored by KBOE Radio and Pepsi Cola Mahsaka Bottling. Also the first class of the Southern Iowa Speedway Hall of Fame which includes Bobby Greiner Jr, Aaron Brown, Randy Schroeder, Bill Davis Sr and Denny Banks will be inducted during the Southern Iowa Fair.
On Tuesday Night, the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds make a trip to the Monster. Also racing is the IMCA Late Models, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Hobby Stocks. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
Then On Wednesday Night, the IMCA Modifieds will run for a top prize of $1,000 meanwhile the IMCA Late Models return for another night. Also racing is the IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
