Foxman Racing Weekend Recap

After mother nature washed out Wednesday Night's races at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa that meant my racing week would begin on Friday. Despite the cold weather and very windy conditions the decision was made to make the five minute drive across town for the rescheduled Frostbuster at the Marshalltown Speedway.

Friday Night, Josh May won the Mod Lites ahead of Mike Morrill, Randy Bryan, Bryan Zehm and Erin Turner. Dustin Elliott held off Challenges from Eric Stanton in the Hobby Stocks. Randy Roberts took the win ahead of Sam Wieben in the SportMods. Donavon Smith made a last lap pass on Damon Murty to take the win in the Stock Cars. Kyle Brown won the Modifieds ahead of Josh Gilman and David Brown.

Saturday Morning, the alarm was set for 6 am so i could get up get showered, warm the car up and get all my stuff loaded so i could hit the road at 7 am for the Midwest Dirt Kart Challenge Series Spring Specatuclar Season Opener at the Show-Me Speedway in Downing, Missouri. I arrived at 9:30 am and there was already a good number of trailers in the pit area with them still rolling in. After setting the PA System up the it was time for me to begin my duties by running through somethings and calling for pre-tech. Yes Pre-tech line was rather long and took a little while and with drivers still coming in it became clear that Noon Hot Lap time was not going to happen but we made sure everybody was checked in and through pre-tech and called for a drivers meeting at 12:15pm with the hot laps beginning right around 12:30pm. There was 192 entries signed in to compete and everybody on the staff appreciated the amount of people that came out and made the event successful. Special Thanks to everybody on the staff of the Show-Me Speedway for making the facility so amazing. Results will be posted on the Midwest Dirt Kart Challenge Series Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Midwest-Dirt-Kart-Challenge/969970309681491) sometime later this week would be my guess as Kyle and Karson Roose have do deal with a death in their family so please give them your Condolences.  Next up for the Series is coming up on Saturday May 7th at the Newton Kart Klub in Newton, Iowa.

The races ended at 9:30 pm and after getting all my stuff put away i was on the road just before 10:30 pm. Made a quick pit stop in Bloomfield to grab something to drink for the drive home which saw me arrive back in Marshalltown at 1 am.

Since i was unable to go to Boone for the Frostbuster you can get the story and results at https://www.imca.com/2016/04/10/thornton-races-to-boone-frostbuster-checkers/ and http://www.raceboone.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/April-9-2016-Frostbuster.pdf !

On Sunday, I made the decision to head off to the Benton County Speedway for their Frostbuster and arrive just after 2 pm only to encounter a slight rain shower but nothing to dampen the spirits of racing in the Final Night of the Frostbuster. After taking the entry fees as drivers checked in, i headed down to the infield where i was assigned the task of doing the Redraw after each heat race. Did not keep a whole lot of notes because of that so go read the Press Release by IMCA : https://www.imca.com/2016/04/10/thornton-outruns-brown-for-imca-frostbuster-checkers-at-benton-county/ .
