Strunk, Meyer, Griffith, Kaplan, Roe and Leeman Winners on Tolle Automotive Night at the Hamilton County Speedway

    Tolle Automotive of Webster City presented night number eight at the historic Hamilton County Speedway Saturday Night. Stock Cars also featured a King of the Hill and the fans were treated to some great racing for the top spots all night long.
    Like last week but this week it was the Stock Cars running a King of the Hill. Drivers in the Stock Cars class battled it out with two car grudge matches.  The final four included Mark Elliott, Lance Deal, Jason Vansickel and Jim Mitchell. Vansickel beat Mitchell in the semifinals meanwhile Elliott and Deal battled it out both cars cutting a tire down with Elliott getting the tire fixed and had to face off with Vansickel in the final. Vansickel pocket the extra money for winning the King of the Hill.
    First feature of the night was the Oberhelman Trucking IMCA Sport Compacts feature. Adam Strunk grabbed the lead but had to deal with Dustin Haggard the entire distance. Strunk went on to take win second win of the season. Strunk was followed by Haggard, Kalan Guthrie, Danny Sassman Jr. and Hunter Benson.
    The next feature on the speedway was the Chalfant Plumbing Stock Car division.  Dennis Plain grabbed the lead on lap one but it was Adam Silvey grabbing the lead away on lap two. Silvey lead until Vansickel took the lead on lap five. Vansickel’s lead was short lived as Steve Meyer worked his way from the eighth place to the lead on lap seven. Meyer cruised on to the win with Vansickel finishing 2nd. Mark Elliott, Lance Deal and Jim Mitchell rounded the top 5.
    Motor Inn of Webster City IMCA Late Models feature saw the yellow wave when Carey Umbarger broke and got into the wall in turn 2. When the race finally got started it was Ryan Griffith grabbing the lead. Griffith didn’t look back as he went on to take win number two. Darrel DeFrance grab runner up honors and Jeremy Grady was third. Jason Hahne and Curt Schroeder finish fourth and fifth respectively.
    The George White Chevrolet Modified feature saw last week’s feature winner Devin Havlik grab early lead but Havlik hit a tire and that allowed Beau Kaplan to sneak by. Kaplan began to pull away meanwhile Mark Elliott was working his way through the field. Havlik fell back to third. Bill Crimmins and Greg Elliott rounded out the top five.
    The Casady Brothers Implement Inc. IMCA Hobby Stock feature came down to the wire between Cory Roe and Ty Griffith for the second week in a row. Roger Haupt lead the first three laps before the caution waved. Griffith grabbed the lead on the restart, Griffith lead through a red flag for darkness as turns 1 and 2 and backstretch had no lights. then two late race cautions on lap 11 and 13. Griffth and Roe battled it out the last two laps including the final lap, both racing hard for the win made contact in turn 2 kept going and battle it out to the checkers. Roe grabbed the win over Griffith at the line, it was Roe’s first at Hamilton County this season. Griffith came across in second but refused post-race tech inspection so that gave second to Randy Embrey. Daniel Ayers, Nate Bonin and Allen Dixon rounded out the top 5.
    The final race of the night was Conley’s Trucking Inc. IMCA Sportmod feature and last week’s feature winner Jared VanDeest grabbed the lead. VanDeeest experience some troubles that handed the lead over to Brandon Leeman on lap four. Leeman was slowed a few times by the caution on lap five and two cautions on lap ten. Leeman made sure he was going to be the first to cross the line to grab the win as he got great restarts. Matt Lettow worked his way from tenth to second. Aaron Benson was third, Ben Kates was fourth and Carter VanDenBerg was fifth.
    The Historic Half Mile in Webster City begins a very action back month of July next Saturday Night with $5 Fan Appreciation Night thanks to Hy-Vee of Webster City. Hot Laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing to follow. We hope to see everyone back next Saturday night at the Hamilton County Speedway.

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 28th, 2013) – Strong northerly winds caused a lot of issues and concerns to track officials but the track made up as there was strong multi grooved racing surface that produced some close finishes.

Adam Gates jumped to the lead on lap one in the IMCA Sport Compacts feature. Gates and Merv Chandler race wheel to wheel with Chandler grabbing the lead on lap two. Gates didn’t give up as he grabbed the lead back on lap three and went on to take his fourth win of the season. Chandler finished second, John Gill came home third, Travis Losenicky was fourth and Chad Larson in fifth.

In the Toby K’s Hideaway Mod Lite feature it was Dusty Masolini grabbing the early lead. Masolini lead until lap five when Mike Morrill and Andy Hennigar sneak by Masolini. Morrill and Andy Hennigar battled for the lead until Hennigar was able to grab the top spot on lap ten. Hennigar went on to take his fourth win. Morrill, Josh May, Randy Bryan and Mike Kennedy rounded out the top 5.

The Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA SportMods feature saw Bill Hildreth grab the early lead. Just after the completion of lap one the caution waved when Paul Nagle lost a rear spring in turn 2. Hildreth held on to the lead until the next caution on lap two when a handful cars get together in turn 4. Brandon Williams sneaked by Hildreth on the restart and went on to take the win despite a late race caution on lap 15. Ben Kates came home in the runner-up, Ryan Ashton in third, Geoff Olson was fourth and Jared Van Deest in fifth.

Eric Stanton grabbed the lead in the Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Hobby Stock feature and despite a caution on lap one and four it appeared to be heading on the win until Nick Murty chased him down. Stanton and Murty race wheel to wheel the last four laps but it was Stanton holding off challenges until the last lap. Murty made the pass on the last lap to take the win and Stanton finished 2nd. Garrett Eilander, Eric Larson and Austin Luellen rounded out the top 5.

Amsoil IMCA Stock Car Feature saw Derek Reimer grab the lead from his second row outside starting position and appeared to be cruising on to the win before the caution waved on lap 7. On the restart, Jay Schmidt grabbed the lead and had to deal with four more cautions on laps 10, 13, 15 and 16. Schmidt was able to hold of challenges for Reimer, Steve Meyer and Tracy Gienger. Meyer got 2nd, Reimer was 3rd, Tracy Gienger was 4th and Eric Knutson was 5th.

Final Feature of the night was the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds feautre and it was Scott Simatovich grabbing the early lead. Simatovich lead until Ronn Lauritzen worked his way through the field from his eighth place starting position and grab the lead on lap six. The only thing that slowed down Lauritzen was the caution on lap seven. Lauritzen went on to take his second win of the season at MoTown. Racer Hulin worked his way from seventh to second. Zach Rawlins, Kyle Brown and Jon Snyder finished third through fifth.

Next week will be a busy week of racing at the Marshalltown Speedway as Tuesday Night The Big Ticket Clash Stock Car Shootout. Also racing IMCA SportMods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts. Grandstands are $12 for Adults, Children 11 and under is $5. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing to Follow.

Then Next Friday Night the weekly racing returns with KMJ Performance and Bud Night at the Races. Youngsters are reminded to bring out there bicycles as the annual Kid Bike Races will take place at intermission. Grandstands are $9 for Adults, Children 11 and under is $2. Hot Laps at 7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm

Lowry Cashes Big on Titan Machinery, Vital Men and John’s Tree Service Night at Osky

Oskaloosa, Iowa (June 26th, 2013) –  No surprise mother nature wasn’t going to play nice as just about an hour before the gates were to open up mother nature decided to drop a good rain shower but that didn’t damper the plans of racing at SIS. The night sponsored by Titan Machinery, Vital Men and John’s Tree Service featured the IMCA Sport Mod Special rescheduled from last month and also Trick or Treating for the kids.

In the IMCA Sport Compacts feature it was Brandon Lambert lead the first three laps before Bill Whalen Jr. sneaked by on lap 4. Whalen appeared to be heading to the win until Merv Chandler worked his way past Lambert on lap six and then set his sights on Whalen. Whalen and Chandler battled it out for the lead but on the last lap it was Chandler crossing the stripe first to take his 5th at SIS. Whalen finish 2nd, Lambert was 3rd, John Whalen came home 4th and Duayne Herb finish 5th.

Brad Pinkerton grabbed the lead early in the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car feature but the yellow came out on lap seven when Donnie Pearson came to a stop in turn 2. Pinkerton had to deal with Rich Vogt and Corey Stout on the restart and 2 laps later it was Vogt grabbing the lead. Vogt and the field saw the yellow come out on lap 11 when Ryan Leeman had his power plant expire and on the restart, Nathan Wood got by Pinkerton for second. Vogt held of challenges from Wood to go on to take the win. Todd Reitzler, who started 16th, got by Wood on the last lap to finish second. Stout finished fourth and Kris Walker finished fifth

In the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA Sport Mods 30 lap feature, which was split up into two 15 lap segments with a 10 minute pit stop in the middle. Tyler Gross grabbed the early lead but just after the completion of lap 3, Ben Kates and Eric Flander came together in turn 3 forcing an early exit for Kates. Gross continued to lead until coming to the completion of lap 12 when he experienced troubles and  pulled in handing the lead over to Glenn Gladson. Brett Lowry grabbed the lead from Gladson a lap later. Lowry led until the caution waved for the mid-way pit stop.

Lowry, Gladson, Jason McDaniel, AJ Johnson and Rick Goldsberry was the top 5 at the mid-way point. Lowry began to pull away until lap traffic slowed him down and this allowed McDaniel who worked his way by Gladson on lap 18. Lowry held off McDaniel to take the win which was worth $750 for the win, another $250 bonus for racing before making it a $1,000 win for Lowry. McDaniel finish 2nd, Matt Lettow started 14th and finish 3rd, Curtis VanDerWal started 20th and finish 4th and Gladson finish 5th.

Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks feature saw Aaron Osweiler lead the first 2 laps before “The Dude” Danny Thrasher grabbed the lead away. Thrasher lead until a late race caution on lap 9 for Dale Porter in turn 2. Thrasher had to deal with Bill Bonnett on the restart and these two raced wheel to wheel and produced a photo finish at the line. Bonnett grabbed the win by a bumper at the line over Thrasher. Mike Hughes came home in 3rd, Craig Brown was 4th and Jamie Songer was 5th.

Bill Davis Jr. jumped to the lead in the final feature of the night which was the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds feature. Davis appeared to be heading on to the win before Colt Mather chased him down on lap 11 and Mather grabbed the lead away on lap 12. Mather went on to take the win with Davis in second. Tyler Gronenendyk grabbed third away from Tyler Vandekamp on the last lap and Bill Gibson came home 5th.

Next Wednesday Night will be the start to a very busy month of racing at the Southern Iowa Speedway as the speedway will host the 18th Annual Original Budweiser Stock Car Shootout as the IMCA Stock Cars will race for $1,500 to win and $100 to start. Also racing will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.   There will be a special start time with Hot Laps at 6pm and Racing at 6:30pm because City Of Oskaloosa’s fireworks will follow the races that night.

Wild Racing as the Temperatures Heated Up on Clement Heating and Cooling Night at MoTown

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 21st, 2013) – As Summer has finally arrived the temperatures rise and the racing action heats up on the track. The race track produced two, three and four wide racing all night with a full moon in the sky.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts ten lap feature and it had its largest car count of the season as eight cars signed in too do battle. Adam Gates started in sixth but by the end of lap one, Gates found himself in the lead. Merv Chandler, David Moorman and John Gill battled for 2nd through out the feature event as Gates pulled away to take his 3rd checkered of the season at Motown. Chandler finish 2nd, Moorman in 3rd, Gill in 4th and young A.J. Whitten finish 5th in his first visit to the track.

In the Toby K’s Hideaway Mod Lite feature it was Eric Hendrickson grabbing the early lead but Mike Morrill worked his way from his fifth place starting position to grab the lead away on lap 5. Morrill lead until the caution waved on lap 10 when Russ Hall spun in turn 2. On the restart, Morrill dealt with Josh May and Andy Hennigar. Hennigar grabbed the lead and went on to take his 3rd win of the season. Morrill held off May for second. Charlie Brown and Hendrickson rounded out the top 5.

The Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA SportMods feature took three attempts to complete a lap and it was Coty Albers leading the first lap. Carter VanDenBerg worked his way by on lap 2 and after three more cautions on laps 3, 4 and 6 began to pull away. However a caution came out on lap 14 forcing VanDenBerg to have Brad Iverson and Eric Elliott right behind him, VanDenBerg managed to hold to take the win. Iverson, Elliott, Brett Lowry and Geoff Olson finished second through fifth respectively.

Eric Larson lead the first two laps in the Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Hobby Stock feature but Eric Statnton worked his way from the fifth starting position to grab the lead away on lap 3. Stanton went on to take the win the feature that went green-to-checkered. Larson finish second, Nick Murty was third, Bill Bonnett worked his way up from ninth position to fourth and Gary Pfantz was fifth.

Amsoil IMCA Stock Car Feature saw Jay Schmidt grab the lead from his second row inside starting postion and appeared to be cruising on to the easy win until lap traffic started slowing him down. Schmidt was getting through them but the yellow came out on lap 15 when Chuck Davis was trying to exit the race track and Michael Jaennette had no where to go and broke the radiator dumping a lot of water. On the restart, Schmidt was passed by Steve Meyer, who worked his way from his 7th starting position. Meyer added on to his point lead as he took his 1st feature win of the season at Motown. Schmidt held off Damon Murty for 2nd. Tracy Gienger finish 4th and Eric Knutson in 5th.

Final Feature of the night was the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds feautre and it was Cayden Carter leading from start to finish but the true battle was through the field for second through fifth position. Ronn Lauritzen worked his way up to grab second and began to chase down the youngster but fell short. Jimmy Gustin held off challenges with Jon Snyder until Snyder had a flat tire, Gustin finish third. Kyle Brown and Kyle Krampe rounded out the top 5.

Next Friday Night will be Leytham Racing Night at the Marshalltown Speedway. Grandstands are $9 for Adults, Children 11 and under is $2. Hot Laps at 7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm

Marolf Dominates Late Models on Drost Equipment and Jerry Pro Collision Center Night at SIS

Oskaloosa, Iowa (June 19th, 2013) –  A Beautiful day made for a great night at of racing at the Mahaska County Monster located at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds. There was two, three and four racing through out the night and that made for some great races. Also on hand for the night was the Mississippi Valley Vintage  Racing Association for exhibition races.

In the IMCA Sport Compacts feature it was Trent Orwig grabbing the early lead before Merv Chandler grabbed the lead on lap 4. Chandler went on to take his 4th win of the season over John Whalen, Bill Whalen Jr., Kassidy Kirkpatrick and Matt Moore.

Todd Reitzler grabbed the lead in the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car feature but just after the completion of lap one the caution waved. Reitzler resumed command but had his handsful the remainder of the way as he had Damon Murty and Zack Vanderbeek on his back bumper when it came to end. Reitzler took the win with Murty in second, Vanderbeek in third, Rich Vogt in fourth and Brad Pinkerton in fifth.

Nick Marolf started on the pole and took full advantage of that in the KBOE Radio IMCA Late Models feature. Marolf had pulled away until lap traffic slow him down a bit that allowed Todd Cooney to chase him down. Just as it appeared Marolf was going to take an easy win the caution waved forcing a green-white-checkered finish when Dylan Book lost a drive shaft coming off turn 4. Marolf held off Cooney on the restart to take the win. Tommy Elston, Spencer Diercks and Darrel DeFrance rounded out the top 5.

Richie Gustin jumped to the lead in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds feature and just after one lap was completed the caution waved for Casey Greubel losing the handle. Gustin didn’t let that bother him as he resumed command and appeared to be going on to the easy win until the caution waved two more times on lap 14 and 15. Gustin held off challenges from Cayden Carter and Scott Dickey the remaining laps to take the win. Carter finished second, Dickey was third, Brandon Banks came home fourth and Tyler Vandekamp was fifth.

Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks feature saw Bobby Greene lead the first 6 laps before Mike Hughes worked his way from his 5th row outside starting position to take the lead on lap seven. Hughes went on too take his 4th win of the season at SIS. Greene gets his best finish this season in the runner up position. Justin Hook, Bill Bonnett and Danny Thrasher finish third through fifth respectively.

Bill Livery lead the opening lap in the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA Sport Mods feature but just before the completion of lap 2, Livery lost the handle in turn 4 forcing the yellow that handed the lead over to AJ Johnson. Johnson’s lead was short lived as on the restart it was Curtis VanDerWal grabbing the top spot, who worked his way through from his ninth place starting position. VanDerWal went on to win by a whole straightway to claim his 4th win of the season and his 2nd in as many weeks. Carter VanDenBerg passed Ben Kates on the last lap to claim 2nd. Eric Flander finish 4th and Jason Hall was 5th.

Next Wednesday Night will be Titan Machinery, John's Tree Service, and Vital Men Night featuring the IMCA Sport Mods Special that was rained out last month. It will also be Halloween in June as youngsters are invited to come trick or treat before the races on the front stretch. Also racing will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.   Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm every Wednesday Night.

The following Wednesday Night the Southern Iowa Speedway will host the 18th Annual Original Budweiser Stock Car Shootout as the IMCA Stock Cars will race for $1,500 to win and $100 to start. Also racing will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.   There will be a special start time with Hot Laps at 6pm and Racing at 6:30pm because City Of Oskaloosa’s fireworks will follow the races that night.

Griffiths Wins Exciting Finish on Fan Appreciation Night at Southern Iowa Speedway

Oskaloosa, Iowa (June 12th, 2013) – Thanks to many great sponsors like WCM Metalworks, Yaw's Auto Salvage, McDonald's, Pepsi, KBOE, Nutz Graphics, Slideways Karting Center,  Supreme Lawn & Landscaping and Bank Iowa fans were treated to free admission in the grandstands. The stands were packed and Ronald McDonald was also in the house. For track crew the weather was questionable as it was upper 80‘s all day but about the time the races finished the temperatures where in the mid 60‘s.

In the IMCA Sport Compacts feature it was Bill Whalen Jr. grabbing the lead on the opening lap before Merv Chandler grabbed the lead on lap 2. Chandler went on to take his 3rd win of the season at SIS over Bill Whalen Jr, John Whalen and Shawn Cooney.

Dale Porter lead the first 3 laps in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks feature but he was passed by Bill Bonnett on lap 4. Bonnett continue to lead through a couple of cautions,  one on lap 8 and the other one on lap 10. Bonnett had his hands full the last 5 laps though as Mike Hughes, Dustin Griffiths and Porter were all right there and made for a crazy and exciting finish that placed every fan in the stands on their feet. Griffiths was credited with the win, Dale Porter finish 2nd, Mike Hughes was 3rd, Bonnett was 4th and Craig Brown was 5th.

Logan Anderson lead the opening lap in the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA Sport Mods feature but 8th place starter Curtis VanDerWal worked his way up to grab the lead on lap 2. VanDerwal went on to take the win over 6th place starter Jason McDaniel. Tony Johnson finish third, Brett Lowry started ninth and finish fourth and Ben Kates finish fifth.

In the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car feature just before a lap was completed the caution waved for debris in turn one. On the restart it was Alan Van Gorp grabbing the lead but his lead was short lived as Rich Vogt grabbed the spot away on lap 2. Vogt held on to the until 8th place starter Nathan Wood had worked his way through the field on lap 5. Wood was only slowed down by a caution on lap 14 forcing Jason Minnehan, Jeff Joldersma and Kris Walker right there. Wood held on to the win with Walker finishing second, Derek Kirkland finish third after starting tenth, Corey Stout finish fourth and Jason Cook was fifth.

Scott Dickey lead from start to finish in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified feature and a late race caution forcing the red flag when a few cars got together in turn 4 wanted to spoil that for Dickey. Dickey was able to hold off challenges from Jesse Sobbing and Jacob Murray to take the win. Sobbing finish 2nd, Jacob Murray finish 3rd, Todd Shute was 4th and Cayden Carter was 5th.

Next Wednesday Night will be Drost Equipment and Jerry's Pro Collision Center Night with IMCA Late Models for third appearance of the season plus for the kids there will be race car rides. Also racing will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.   Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm every Wednesday Night.

Wild Night of Racing on Karl Performance Night at Marshalltown Speedway

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 7th, 2013) – The race track produced several lines of racing all night long which in turns produced some wild and crazy finishes on Karl Performance Night at the Speedway.

First feature on the track for the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts ten lap feature and it was David Moorman grabbing the lead on lap one. Moorman, Merv Chandler and John Gill battled for the lead and Chandler grabbed the top spot on lap two. Chandler held off several challenges from Moorman and Gill to take the win. Toby Denning was fourth and Jeremy Lerch, first time vistior finish in fifth.

Bret Moyer grabbed the early lead in the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Truck feature  but just after the completion of lap two the caution waved when Carl Knight lost the handle collecting Tony Moro. Moro rolled three to four times in turn 2 forcing the red flag, both drivers were okay. Moyer got a great restart and went on to lead the last thirteen laps with no problem to take the win. Brad Moyer finish second, Pat Fagen held off Carl Moyer for third and Rick Clark was fifth.

In the Toby K’s Hideaway Mod Lite feature it was Mike Kennedy getting an awesome start from his inside second row starting spot to take the lead. Kennedy and the field saw the only yellow wave on lap 2 but that didn’t faze Kennedy. Josh May started ninth and worked his way up through the field to take the lead away on lap 8. May went on to take the win over Andy Hennigar, Eric Hendrickson, Charlie Brown and Randy Bryan.

Coty Albers snagged the early lead in the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA SportMods feature but the caution waved on lap 2 when Mike Stark slipped up hit the wall and came back down collecting Johnathan Logue. Albers resumed command out front but the caution waved three more times over the next 2 laps. Clint Luellen grabbed the lead away from Albers on lap 6. Luellen opened up the door for Austin Kaplan on lap 11 and Kaplan grabbed the lead. Kaplan looked to be heading on to the win but he slipped up a bit and it allowed Travis Peterson to sneak around to grabbed the top spot on lap 17. Peterson went on to take his 2nd win of the season at Marshalltown over Kaplan, Clint Luellen, Jared Van Deest and Ty Luellen.

Mitchell Thomas lead the first five laps in the Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Hobby Stock feature but the caution waved when Eric Larson and Jennifer Hulin got together in turn 3. On the restart, Thomas was passed by the Racing Veteran Bill Bonnett. Bonnett went on to take the win over Nick Murty, Austin Luellen, Garrett Eilander and Brandon Pruitt.

The Amsoil IMCA Stock Car Feature saw Justin Temeyer grab the early lead but the caution waved on lap two. Temeyer was passed by Jay Schmidt on the restart. Despite the pair of cautions on lap four or lap traffic late in the race, Schmidt was not to be denied the win. Steve Meyer stated nineth and finish 2nd, Derek Reimer was 3rd, Damon Murty started twelve th and finish 4th meanwhile Tracy Gienger came home fifth.

Final Feature of the night was the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds feautre and it was Cayden Carter grabbing the lead in which he held on to until the caution came out on lap 9. Carter had to deal with Ronn Lauritzen and Jon Snyder on the restart, Lauritzen grabbed the lead on lap 10, Carter again on lap 11. Lauritzen took the lead back on lap twelve but Jon Snyder said it was his turn as he took the lead on lap 13. Carter didn’t give up as he came back to grab the lead on lap 15 and just shortly after the yellow waved again setting up a 5 lap dash to the finish. Carter and Snyder battled it out for the lead again on the restart, Snyder took the lead away on lap 17 but Carter came back to take the lead on lap 19. Snyder and Carter battled but it was Carter taking the win with Snyder in 2nd. Luke Wanninger, Richie Gustin and Lauritzen rounded out the top 5.

Next Friday Night will be Wolf Seeds Night at the Marshalltown Speedway. Grandstands are $9 for Adults, Children 11 and under is $2. Hot Laps at 7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm

Action Pack Night of Racing on Minute Man Printing and Evening Optimist Club Night at the Races

Marshalltown, Iowa (May 31st, 2013) – Mother Nature defintely wasn’t too kind with us this week causing flooding in Marshalltown. The race track was in great shape all night long produced some great racing action on Minute Man Printing and Evening Optimist Club Night.

First feature on the track for the night was the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods feature with five laps down and thirteen laps to go.  Brandon Brinton resumed the point and was pulling away until he bobbed a little bit that allowed Ben Kates and Andy Tiernan to make it a 3 car battle for the lead. Kates grabbed the lead on lap 15 before Brinton grabbed it back on lap 16. Brinton and Kates got together and opened the door for Andy Tiernan, Tiernan made the move and grab the win coming off turn 4 to the checkers. Brinton finish second and Kates was third.

In the make-up Amsoil IMCA Stock Car Feature it was Matt Deaton grabbing the early lead. Eric Knutson grabbed the lead away on lap four but finally Michael Murphy sneaked by on lap 8 to take the lead. Murphy went on to take the win over Knutson, Tracy Gienger, Steve Meyer and Jeff Wollam.

Brice Udelhoven lead the first four laps in the make-up Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Hobby Stocks feature before the Bandit Brandon Pruitt got by to take the lead and ultimately the win. Udelhoven finished second, Bill Bonnett was third, Eric Stanton and Austin Lullen rounded out the top 5.

David Brown grabbed the early lead in the make-up Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds feature but Ronn Lauritzen drove it in and grabbed the lead from Brown on lap seven. Lauritzen pulled away to take the win with Jon Snyder finishing in the runner up spot. Brown, Zach Rawlins and Luke Wanninger finished third through fifth.


Just like John Gill did last week he lead the first three laps in the IMCA Sport Compacts feature before Merv Chandler finally got by to take the top spot. Chandler went on to take th win with John Gill in second, Chad Larson in third and Josh Keller in fourth.

In the Toby’s K’s Hidaway Mod Lite 15 lap feature, Terry Brown grabbed the race lead. Brown lost the lead to Eric Hendrickson on lap 4 before the yellow came out when Joel Huggins spun in turn 2. Hendrickson able to hold on to the lead until Josh May worked his way up through field and it was May taking the lead on lap 8. May took the win over Mike Morrill and Andy Hennigar.

Shawn Albers grabbed the early lead in the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods but a caution on lap 3 stacked the field up. Albers held off the initial challenge because another caution waved after lap 4 was completed. Eric Elliott made the move on the restart on Albers to take the spot away before  three more cautions waved on laps six and seven. Elliott held everybody off before the caution waved again on lap 14. Elliott dodged all of the cautions to take the win over Clint Luellen, Ty Luellen, Jenae Gustin and Brett Lowry.

Dustin Lynch lead the first lap in the Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Hobby Stock feature but the caution waved and Luynch experienced some troubles and handed the lead over to Gary Pfantz. Bill Bonnett passed Gary Pfantz on the restart and it appeared it was going to be Bonnett taking the win but Brandon Pruitt chased him down and made move to take the lead on lap 8. Pruitt and Bonnett battled but it was Pruitt taking the win and Bonnett was second. Donavon Nunnikhoven, Chris Lulof and Garrett Eilander round out top 5.

The Amsoil IMCA Stock Car Feature was a wild one from start to finish, Sean Johnson grabbed the early lead and dodged four early race cautions including one on lap four when Dusty Vis saw his rear end come a part, before Jay Schmidt was able to get by on lap eight. Schmidt and the field saw the caution wave just after the completion of lap 9, on the restart it was Michael Murphy seeing his rear end come forcing the red flag. When the race resumed it was Johnson taking the lead back but Schmidt stayed right there until they got together on lap 16 that allowed Chris Wiltse to take the lead. Wiltse lead was short lived as Damon Murty made his way from his eleventh place starting poistion to grab the lead. Murty took the win over Wiltse, Scott Pippert, Todd Reitzler and Johnson.

Final Feature of the night was the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds feautre and it was Zach Rawlins grabbing the early lead. Rawlins lead was short lived as Richie Gustin sneaked by on lap 3. A lap later on lap 4 the caution waved for Adam Larson. Gustin got a great restart but the caution waved again on lap 14 stacking the field up. Gustin didn’t let that caution both him as he pulled away to take the win. Jon Snyder worked his way from twelve th starting position to finish 2nd. Luke Wanninger, Jimmy Gustin and Larson rouned out top 5.

Next Friday Night back to normal night as it will be Karl Performance Night at the Marshalltown Speedway. Also racing will be the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks. Grandstands are $9 for Adults, Children 11 and under is $2. Hot Laps at 7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm
