Cook Wins Tune-Up To The Stock Car Shootout at Southern Iowa Speedway

Cook Wins Tune-Up To The Stock Car Shootout at Southern Iowa Speedway
By Jeremy Fox

Oskaloosa, Iowa (June 25th, 2014) – With the 19th Annual Budweiser Stock Car Shootout and Inaugural Merv Chandler Memorial only a week away this was the final week to tune them up. The track produced some great racing all night and the Stock Cars seem to always leave the fans on their feet on Kelli Steil State Farm Insurance and Titan Machinery Night.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts ten lap event. On the first lap, they would go four wide entering turn one but when things settle themselves out it was Austen Beccera grabbing the lead. Beccera saw Shaun Slaughter take the lead away on lap three and never look back. Beccera finish second, John Whalen was third, Cody Cleghorn was fourth and Bill Whalen was fifth.

Out next was the "Class to Tough Tame" the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars for their 18 lap feature. Brandon Jay jumped to early lead but Jason Cook was knocking on the back side until the only race caution came out on lap two when Damon Murty got side aways and collecting Todd Reitzler, Doug Sylvester and Brock Welch in turn two, Murty was able to get moving before the yellow coming out. On the restart, while Jay continued to lead, Cook saw Damon Murty take the second spot away. Cook did not give up though as he took back the second spot on lap four and took the lead away from Jay on lap five. Cook appeared to be heading on to the win but he saw Murty and Cayden Carter try to take the win away. Carter grabbed the lead coming to the white flag but Cook took back coming to the checkered to pick up his first win at Osky. Carter, Murty, Corey Stout and Jay rounded out the top five.

In the KBOE Radio IMCA Sport Mods 16 lap feature, it was Colton Livezey leading the first lap. Curtis VanDerWal after having a bad week the week before found his way to the top spot on lap two and then the caution came out on lap six for Rich Vogt and Kelly Buckallew in turn two. VanDerWal would go on and take the win over Brayton Carter, Jason McDaniel, Logan Anderson and Carter VanDenBerg.

Rookie AJ Johnson led the first lap in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds 15 lap feature. Andrew Schroeder worked his away around on lap two. The only race caution came out on lap nine when Dakota Hayden lost the left front wheel on the exit of turn four. That did not bother either one but Johnson saw Cayden Carter take second away on lap 13. Schroeder held on to take the win, Carter was second, and Johnson was third. Casey Greubel and Scott Dickey was fourth and fifth respectively.

Final Feature of the night was Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks for 15 laps. Travis Bunnell grabbed the lead early only to see the caution come out after the completion of lap one when Brandon Cox spun in turn two. Bunnell conitnued to lead until Mike Hughes worked his way up to take second on lap six. Hughes was then able to get by Bunnell for the lead on lap seven and would lead the remaining laps to take the win. Craig Brown worked his way to second on lap nine and tried to chase down Hughes but was unable to so he settled for second. Bunnell was third, Nick Ulin was fourth and Danny Thrasher was fifth.

Aikey Cashes in Big During the Deery Brothers Summer Series Miller Lite 50 in Motown

Aikey Cashes in Big During the Deery Brothers Summer Series Miller Lite 50 in Motown
By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 24th, 2014) – As the 50th Anniversary season continues at the Marshalltown Speedway on Tuesday, it was the return of the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series fueled by Casey's.  The track was in great shape for 34 Late Models, 13 Stock Cars, 27 Northern SportMods and seven Dirt Trucks to do battle on the high banked quarter mile.

The Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks opted to run two ten lap features as oppose to the normal heat and feature format. Lou Siplot took the lead and never looked back to take the win. Pat Fagen was second, Kevin Sather was third, Brad Moyer was fourth and Carl Knight was fifth.

In Feature two, AJ Nelson grabbed the early lead but got crossed up allowing Bret Moyer to get by on lap three. Bret Moyer continued to lead until his brother Brad tried to take it away on lap nine, they made contact and that allowed Kevin Sather to take the lead away. Sather took the win over Fagen, Brad Moyer, AJ Nelson and Bret Moyer. The series points awarded was determined by average finish in the two races.

Scott Pippert jumped to the race lead in the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car feature but just after the completion of lap two the caution came out when Dwayne Herb spun in turn four. On the restart, Pippert saw David Smith and Russell Damme but he was able to hold them off. The caution came out again on lap nine for Russell Damme in turn two. Pippert went on to lead the remaining laps despite a caution on lap 18 and several challenges from David Smith. Devin Smith was third, Damon Murty was fourth and Donavon Smith was fifth.

The IMCA Northern SportMods feature saw the caution flag come out before the completion of lap one when Logan Anderson spun in turn two. Andy Tiernan grabbed the lead on the restart but that was short lived as Clint Luellen worked his way from six starting spot to take the lead away. On Lap five, Luellen and the field saw the caution come out. First time was for Tony Olson spinning in turn four collecting Michael Strait, who ended upside down in turn four. Then on the restart when Matt Lettow experienced troubles collecting Brett Lowry in turn two. Luellen would not let any of that bother him as again he pulled away on the restart only to see the caution one more time this time on lap 14. Luellen led the remaining six laps to take the $1,000 prize. Sam Wieben, Taylor Musselman, Andy Tiernan and Carter VanDenBerg rounded out the top five.

Save the best feature for last as the Deery Brothers Summer Series Miller Lite 50 presented by H&F Distributing and Rumor's Bar & Grill. Tyler Bruening and Jason Hahne redrew the front row with a pair of veterans Jeff Aikey and Curt Martin right behind them. Aikey took the lead from the inside row two and pulled away however another veteran Ray Guss Jr worked his way to second by lap two. Guss tried to chase down Aikey and would just as Aikey was encountering lap traffic on lap 12.

Aikey was able to hold off Guss as they continued to tick off lap cars and just as it appeared the lap traffic was getting heavier or the feature was going to go caution free. The caution came out on lap 43 when Denny Eckrich saw something break in the front end of his race car sending towards the billboards on the front stretch. Aikey, Guss, Andy Eckrich, Bruening and Martin was the top five on the restart and when the caution came out again two laps later, on lap 45 for Joel Callahan coming to a stop in turn three. It set up an exciting five lap shootout but it was Aikey holding on to take his 62nd Deery Series win and his 4th at Motown in the series. Not only did Aikey take the $3,000 to win but he also picked up the extra $1,000 for being a veteran that raced at Marshalltown from 1985 to 1990. Andy Eckrich worked his way from 12th to finish in the runner-up spot meanwhile Guss took third. Justin Kay after starting 12th and nearly being lapped he managed the last two restarts perfectly and found his way to a fourth place finish and Curt Martin was fifth.

Speedway is back to action on Friday Night as it will be Shawn's Custom Hay Grinding Night at the races. Hot Laps at 6:45pm and Racing at 7:30pm.

Then on Friday Night July 4th, it will be Fan Appreciation Night with Fireworks, as well as the 50th Anniversary Celebration will take place. There will be activities rain or shine all day. Races will start at 7:15pm.

Irvine, Cordes, Wacha, Gustin and Ackerman Take Checkers at Indee

Another Saturday off where i did not have to work at a race track so the original plan was to attend the races at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. However mother nature had different plans this week as a lot of rain was dumped across the state of iowa forcing rivers to rise and cause minor flooding. The infield was covered in water Saturday Morning so Track Manager Jason Van Sickel and the Hamilton County Fairboard decided to pull the plug.

So that again left my Saturday Night free so i made my choices to go watch races at the Boone Speedway or the Independence Motor Speedway. After i got an invitiation from Track Announcer/Race Director and for one race last night the honorary starter Ryan Clark i decided to make the 1.5 hour drive to Indee for Karsyn's Krusaders and Three Wide Media Night. I was glad i did because there was great racing all night and the track was in great shape thanks to Track Prep Expert Don Burkey.

The First feature of the night was IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap event. After having its initial start called back it was Jason Hocken taking the early lead but that was short lived as the caution came out three times on lap four. First time for Justin Temeyer in turn two and the second time for a handful of cars in turn three. The final lap four caution was for Aaron Matthias, Tim Helle, Bob Ahrendsen and Phil Holtz in turn three. On the first two restarts, Hocken continued to lead but on the third restart he lost the lead to Phil Holtz. Hocken spun in turn three collecting Justin Hanson, Russell Damme and Adam Gebel. Holtz saw a driver from nearby Oelwein by the name of Brian Irvine take the lead. Irvine would not look back and go on to take his second win of the season at Indee despite a couple of more cautions on lap six and ten. Jarod Weepie, Holtz, Norman Chesmore and Temeyer rounded out the top five.

The Initial start of the 20 lap Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds feature was called back. On the restart, it was third place starter Ed Thomas grabbed the early lead. The caution came out on lap three for Patrick Flannagan in turns three and four. Josh Sherbon and Brennen Chipp was on Thoma's back side but remained out front on lap four. Right after the completion of lap four the caution came out on lap four for Josh Barta in turn three. This time, Thomas saw 11th place starter Troy Cordes sneak by for the lead on lap five. On lap seven, the caution came out when Ronn Lauritzen spun inside turn four. Cordes manage to lead the remaining laps to take his first win of the season at Indee.  Fifth row starters J D Auringer and Tyler Droste finish second and third respectively. Thomas settled in to fourth and Sherbon in fifth.

Before a lap was completed in the IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature but this time actually for four cars getting together in turns three and four. When the race finally got going it was Chad Albert taking the lead but on lap four it was Jim Ball taking it away. The only other race caution came out two laps later, on lap six for debris on the backstretch. Ball continued to lead meanwhile Benji Irvine worked his way from ninth place starting position up to take the lead away on lap nine. Irvine appeared to be heading on to the win but lap traffic started to slow him down and that allowed Justin Wacha to chase down. Irvine and Wacha race side by side the last three laps and it would be Wacha beating Irvine to the line to take the win. Jeremiah Wilson was 3rd, Leah Wroten was 4th and Ball was 5th.

Lucas Lundry lead the first lap in the 15 lap IMCA Sport Mod feature event but the caution came out shortly after for debris in turn two. Lundry got a great restart only to have it wiped away when the caution came out again this time when Kyle Bentley experienced troubles infortunately Colby Heishman made contact and hit him in the right side. Lundry again got a great restart and began to pull away and appeared to be heading toward his first win of the season at Indee but ninth place starter Jenae Gustin worked her way up and began a wheel to wheel battle for the lead. Gustin finally took the lead away and went on to take her fifth win of the season at Indee meanwhile Lundry came home in second. Jim Aschenbrenner, 15th place starter Alex Zwanziger and Matt McCahen round out the top five.

Final feature of the night was the 25 lap IMCA Late Models feature. Rookie Sean Johnson took full advantage of his outside front row starting spot by taking the lead. Johnson appeared to be heading on to the win but the caution came out on lap 13 for John Emerson spinning on the front stretch. Johnson continued to lead until  Darren Ackerman worked his way up to battle for the lead. Ackerman took the lead on laps 17 and 18 with Johnson again on lap 19. Finally the leaders were able to get through lap traffic and Ackerman went back on by Johnson to take the win. Jon Passick, Luke Pestka and Bobby Hansen was third through fifth respectively.

Races were completed at 9:51pm and after visting with a few friends in the pits after the races i got home around 12:15 am. Thanks to Ryan Clark and the staff at the Independence Motor Speedway with getting the show over at a decent time.

Kudos goes out to Jessica and Andy Miller of Karsyn's Krusaders for their great support towards cancer surivors by picking honorary starters.

Those honorary Starters were:
Hobby Stock: Ryan Clark, in memory of his father, Dwayne Burkey. Dwayne was a driver and long time race fan. Lung cancer took his life on 5/15/11, just 3 weeks after his first visit to the hospital.

Stock Car: Emmale Schnelle, age 11, was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer in July 2013. After treatment, surgery, and a skin graft at Mayo Clinic, she is proud to say that she Kicked Cancer's Butt!

Sport Mod: Harry Snyder (a/k/a OHB), an engine builder, long time race fan, and father of a drivers racing tonight: Jason, Tony, and Chris Snyder, was diagnosed March 2013, and is currently "Kickin' Esophageal Cancer's Butt".

Modified: Gary Wilgenbusch, CPA and Karsyn's Krusaders treasurer, is throwing the green flag tonight in memory of his mother who passed away from liver cancer when she was just 45 years old.

Late Model: Julie O'Connor with 3 Wide Media, and a strong supporter of Karsyn's Krusaders is starting our late model feature in memory of Brady Dove, the son of Byron and Laura Dove of New Hartford, who will be in the stands tonight. Brady was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma in 2001 at just 2 years old. After multiple rounds of chemo, radiation, and a stem cell transplant, the cancer went into remission. Sixteen months later, Brady relapsed and passed away in 2004 at just 5 years old.

Moorman, May, Stanton, Williams, Smith and Wanninger Take Checkers on Wolf Seeds Night
By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 20th, 2014) – This week mother nature was mean as she dropped over four inches of rain at the Marshalltown Speedway leaving track crew to scratch their heads. However they worked their magic and Wolf Seeds along with Jim's Johns Challenge Night took place.

The IMCA Sport Compacts six lap feature was out first and only two cars were able to take the green as the car of John Gill experienced transmission problems in staging area. Aaron Miller led the first three laps before David Moorman took the lead away coming to two to go. Moorman took the win with Miller in second.

Eric Hendrickson lead the first three laps in the 15 lap Mod Lites feature before Charlie Brown worked his way up to take the lead away on lap four. Brown continued to lead until lap nine, shortly after Jimmy May took it away on lap 10. May went on to take his second win of the season at Motown. Andy Hennigar tried but settled in to second, Brown was third, Hendrickson was fourth and Daniel Keltner was fifth.

Rookie Andy Hick grabbed the early lead in the 12 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks feature. The first race caution came out on lap two when Steve Fricke spun around right in front of the field only to collect Mitchell Thomas, Jennifer Hulin and Tyson Overton. Hick saw Brice Udelhoven and Eric Stanton right behind him but Hick continued to lead on lap three. Stanton took the lead away on lap four and three laps later saw the caution come out again this time when John Housley went spinning off top of turn one. Stanton and Austin Luellen began to battle it out the final five laps with Stanton leading all but lap ten. Stanton took the win by a bumper at the line over Luellen. John Watson came home in third, Hick was fourth and Udelhoven was fifth.

The IMCA Northern SportMods feature normally runs 18 laps but would go 23 laps because Clint Luellen, the only heat race winner to take the challenge. Luellen had a shot at a bonus of $500 if he could win. Tom Rawlins lead the opening lap before Shawn Simatovich took the lead away on two. Simatovich lost the lead on lap four too Brandon Williams. Williams was not to be denied the win his first this season at Motown. Sam Wieben tried several times to take the lead away but finish in the runner up position. Luellen, Jenae Gustin,  Carter VanDenBerg and Taylor Musselman rounded out the top five.

Dave Atcher lead fhe first two laps before the caution came out in the IMCA Stock Cars 23 lap feature which again is normally 18 laps. The first caution came out when Jared Daggett, one of two drivers to take the challenge, spun out in turn four. Atcher continued to lead until Donavon Smith worked his way through the field to take it away on lap five. Smith and the field saw the caution come again on lap seven but ran the final 16 laps caution free. Smith picked up his seventh win of the season at Motown. Steve Meyer finished 2nd meanwhile Michael Jaennette, the other to take the challenge, finished 3rd. Atcher and Daggett finish fourth and fifth respectively.

Final feature of the night was the IMCA Modifieds feature, it also saw two drivers win their heat races and chose to go the tail for a $1,000 bonus as it went unclaim in the previous three divisions. Those two drivers were Ronn Lauritzen and Tyler Droste meanwhile Scott Simatovich lead the first five laps before the caution came out when Lauritzen and Kyle Krampe got together in turn two. On the restart, Rookie Joel Rust took the lead way from Simatovich and appeared he was pulling away only to see the caution come out on lap 12 when Kyle Brown experienced trouble. Rust and Luke Wanninger began an epic battle with the Rookie lead most of the laps. Wanninger took the lead for good on lap 21 to take the win. Rust, Lauritzen, Adam Larson and Racer Hulin rounded out the top five.

Morrill and Hulin Pick Up First Wins of the Season on Karl Performance Night at Motown

Morrill and Hulin Pick Up First Wins of the Season on Karl Performance Night
By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 13th, 2014) –  Racing action was hot and heavy on a beautiful Friday the 13th at the Marshalltown Speedway, that also saw a full moon. Every race saw exciting battles from start to finish on Karl Performance Night. Two Drivers picked up their first win of the season meanwhile four others made a return trip to victory lane.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts eight lap event. John Gill started on the outside front row and he took full advantage as he led all eight laps to take his third win of the season. David Moorman came across in second, Josh Modde was third, Aaron Miller was fourth and Mike Tedesco was fifth.

Before a lap was completed in the Mod Lites, Andy Hennigar saw Friday 13th become unlucky when he had his driveshaft break which sent him rolling in turn one during the pace lap, he climbed out okay but it ended his night. When the racing got going it was Eric Hendrickson leading the first lap but then the caution came out when four cars got together on backstretch. On the restart, it was Mike Morrill sneaking by and Morrill held off challenges from Tim Hennigar and Jimmy May after a pair of cautions for Amber Coffman on lap four and six. Morrill went on to take his first win at Motown since September 21st, 2012, his first weekly win at Motown since August 24th of 2012. Jimmy May, Charlie Brown, Tim Hennigar and Terry Brown rounded out the top five.

Racing Veteran Steve Fricke started on the front row along with Mitchell Thomas in the 12 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks feature. Brice Udelhoven thought he was the leader of lap one but it was determined he jumped the start so that actually credited Mitchell Thomas with lap one. Austin Luellen worked his way around Thomas to take over the lead. Luellen worked his way through the lap traffic late in the race to take his fourth of the season at Motown. John Watson worked his way from 11th to 2nd meanwhile Benji Irvine was credited with a 3rd place finish. Tyson Overton was 4th and Brice Udelhoven was credited with a 5th place finish after being docked two spots.

The IMCA Northern SportMods 18 lap feature seems never to disappoint as they have been amazing to watch. Neil Follett took the early lead and appear to be holding off everybody until the caution came out a couple of times for Siraj Thomason on laps two and six. Follett saw Ryan King and Sam Wieben right behind him but did not have to worry about because it was Clint Luellen. Luellen found the top side just the way he wanted and he worked his way to the top spot on lap ten. Just after the caution came out for Austin Schuring coming to a stop on the exit of turn three. Luellen and Musselman battled it out the last eight laps but it was Luellen going on to take his fourth win at Motown. Musselman finished a close 2nd, Jared Van Deest worked his way from 10th to 3rd. Sam Wieben was 4th and Follett ended in the 5th spot.

Robert Stofer led the first lap in the "Class To Tough To Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature. Michael Jaennette worked his way from fifth to second and took the lead away on lap two. Jaennette had a full straight-away lead before lap traffic slowed him down but it was not enough to deny him his second win at Motown. Brian Irvine worked his way around Donavon Smith for second. Trent Murphy and Steve Meyer finish fourth and fifth respectively.

Final feature of the night was the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature and it saw some great two and three wide racing through the field. Eric Elliott grabbed the lead on lap one and led until lap four. Racer Hulin took the lead away from Elliott on lap four and had a large lead to take his first win at Marshalltown. Adam Larson found his way to the runner up spot. Luke Wanninger was third, Rookie Brandon Leeman was fourth, and Elliott was fifth.

Next week it will be Wolf Seeds and Jim's Johns Challenge Night at the Races. Hot Laps at 6:45 p.m. and Racing at 7:30 p.m.

Then on Tuesday June 24th, the Deery Brothers Summer Series Miller Lite 50 will take to the high banks.  Do not forget about Fan Appreciation Night with Fireworks, as well as the 50th Anniversary Celebration on Friday July 4th.

Anderson Takes the MLRA Late Models at Osky
By Jeremy Fox

Oskaloosa, Iowa (June 12th, 2014) – It was back to life at the Southern Iowa Speedway after last week's rain out but just a few things were different. Taking the traditional Wednesday Night off to race on a Thursday Night produced for a great night of racing with around 100 cars signed in to do battle including the Lucas Oil MLRA/Corn Belt Clash Late Models on DOC360 and KBOE Radio Night.

First feature of the night was in the IMCA Sport Compacts eight lap event. Matt Moore led the first three laps before Bill Whalen Jr grabbed the lead away on lap four. Whalen took his fourth win at Osky this season over Moore, Shaun Slaughter, Austen Beccera and Trent Orwig.

In the KBOE Radio IMCA Sport Mods 15 lap feature, it was Logan Anderson grabbing the early lead. Anderson continued to lead until coming to complete lap nine when he spun in turn four collecting Cory Van Zante. That handed the lead over to "Mighty Mouse" Jason McDaniel, a lead he would not give up. McDaniel took his first win at SIS meanwhile Point Leader Curtis VanDerWal finished second. Carter VanDenBerg, Brayton Carter and Brett Lowry rounded out the top five.

Up next was the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models 30 lap feature and before a single lap was completed the red flag came out when a handful of cars got together in turn four. After the mess was all cleaned up it was John Anderson taking full advantage of starting on the outside front row as he took the lead. Anderson was only slowed by lap traffic late which allowed Chris Simpson to chase him down but it was Anderson taking the win. Simpson beat his brother Chad Simpson for second. Matt Furman was fourth and Jason Utter was fifth. Ryan Gustin finished sixth after starting 22nd because he was forced to a back up car.

The Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds 18 lap feature saw Dakota Hayden take the lead on the opening lap but just after the lap was scored the caution came out for Jesse Sobbing in turn four. On the restart, Hayden began to pull away only to see Colt Mather work his way to second and chase down Hayden. Mather and Hayden battled it out on lap 15 before Mather took the lead away with two to go. Mather went on to take the win over Hayden, Casey Greubel, Scott Dickey and Jim Lynch.

Jamie Songer lead the first five laps in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature. Mike Hughes took the spot away on lap six and just after that Songer spun in turn two. On the resart Hughes would see Dustin Griffiths on the back side and those two began to battle for the lead.  The caution came out again on lap eight but that did not bother either one. Hughes and Griffiths continued to battle until the checkered flag flew which also saw the checkered for Shannon Sherwood in turn two. Hughes took the win and Griffiths was second. Brad Stephens was third, Bill Bonnett was fourth and Justin Hook was fifth.

Final Feature of the night was Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars 16 lap feature. They live up to the name of Class To Tough To Tame. Donnie Pearson lead the opening lap but it was Todd Reitzler taking the lead away on lap two but it was not easy for either one to take the lead. Reitzler lead until Damon Murty took the top spot away on lap eight, just after that the caution came out when Donavon Nunnikhoven spun turn four. Murty lead the remaining eight laps to take the win over Brad Pinkerton, Justin Temeyer, Cayden Carter and Nathan Wood.

Luellen Brother Double Up at MoTown

Luellen Brothers Double Up at MoTown
By Jeremy Fox

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 6th, 2014) –  A New week but similar story as the Marshalltown Speedway is living up to some great racing action from start to finish during its 50th Anniversary season. Also in attendance was Traxxas Torc Off Road Series Driver Cam Reimers from Ogden putting on an expedition for the fans.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts eight lap event. John Gill led the opening lap before Adam Gates took the top spot away on lap two. Gates took the checkered first with David Moorman in second, Aaron Miller in third and Gill in fourth.

In the Mod Lites 15 lap feature it was Mike Kennedy taking the early lead but it was short lived as Jimmy May took the top spot away on lap three. May saw his son Josh May experience troubles on lap five forcing the caution to come out. May did not let that get to him but the final race cation came out on lap 12 when Charlie and Terry Brown make contact in turn two that ended Charlie's night. Jimmy May went on to take the win over Andy Hennigar, Terry Brown, Tim Hennigar and Dusty Masolini.

Rookie Andy Hick went on a spin cycle in front of the field in turn two forcing the caution to come out before the completion of lap one in the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature. Gary Pfantz lead the first two laps before Austin Luellen worked his way to the lead on lap three. Luellen and the field saw the caution one more time on lap seven. Luellen took the win over Garrett Eilander, John Watson, Dustin Elliott and Eric Larson.

Another week the IMCA Northern SporMods 18 lap feature was one to watch. Ryan Ashton led the opening lap before Jenae Gustin took the lead away. Gustin lead through a pair oc cautions on lap four and eight. But after the caution on lap 11, Clint Luellen and Gustin battled it out for the lead. Luellen sneaked by to take lead away on lap 13 and go on to take win three at Motown. Gustin, Andy Tiernan, Brett Lowry and Taylor Musselman round out the top five.

Once again the "Class To Tough To Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature did not disappoint any one. First three laps saw three different leaders, Dave Atcher, Robbie Merkle and Michael Jaennette. Jaennette lead until the caution came out on lap five when Jeff Wollam and Paul Shepherd spun in turn two.  On the restart, Jaennette experienced issues forcing him to the infield on lap seven when Donavon Smith took over the lead. Smith pulled away until he caught lap traffic which allowed Trent Murphy to chase him down on lap 11. Smith was able to get a great restart on the final restart on lap 12 to take the win. Murphy came home 2nd, Justin Temeyer finished 3rd, Steve Meyer was 4th and Atcher was 5th.

Final feature of the night was the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature and before a lap was completed the caution came out when front row starters Scott Simatovich and Eric Elliott got together. On the restart it was "Downtown" Kyle Brown taking the early lead. Jon Snyder founded his way up to second and was able to take the lead away on lap three.
