Carter, Murty, Carter, Cox and Vannausdle Take Ag Hub Midwest Frostbuster Victories in Stuart

After watching all the fun the last two weeks at Bristol Motor Speedway with the Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals on Racexr or the NASCAR Races on Fox......It was finally time for race cars to get up the dust in Iowa as the annual Frost Buster Series got rolling at the Stuart International Speedway in Stuart.

Normally Stuart races on Wednesday nights but for the Frostbuster Series it opens up the 2021 racing season on a Tuesday Night. It was scheduled to be the first of five straight nights of racing, AgHub Midwest from Menlo, Iowa was Night one Frostbuster sponsor. One Hundred Nine cars signed in to tame the quarter mile bullring in Stuart.

First feature of the night was the 18 lap feature for the Spangler Automotive IMCA Northern Sport Mods. Before a single lap was scored the caution came out when several cars got together in turn turn four, forcing a complete restart. Brock Beeter grabbed the lead on lap one but the caution came out again when Zach Davis spun in turn four. "Speedy Bray" Brayton Carter took the lead away on the restart on the high side. Carter led through a couple of cautions on lap six and the final caution on lap 14. Carter held off challenges from Jake Sachau to take the win. Sachau finished second with hard charging Izac Mallicoat in third. Skylar Woods and Cole Fenske was fourth and fifth.

Rookie Miciah Hidlebaugh and John Watson led the field to green in the 20 lap Affordably Quality Roofing & Exteriors IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature event. Watson led until the caution came out on lap four when Damon Murty spun in turn three. On the restart, Watson was passed by Bristol Dirt Nationals Winner, known as the "Game Changer" Dallon Murty on the bottom side. Todd VanEaton got by Watson for second on lap six. The final caution came out on lap eight when the "Moose" Shawn Mouzakis spun in turn two. Dallon Murty went on to take the easy win despite VanEaton closing in late. VanEaton came home second with "Buckwild" Buck Schafroth, Kyle Brown and Watson finishing third through fifth.

In the VIP Contractors & Karl Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds 25 lap feature saw Tony Hilgenberg and Jake McBirnie led the strong field to green but it was the "Money Man" Clay Money grabbing the race lead on lap one. Derrick Stewart grabbed second on lap three as Money continued to lead. The caution waived three times on lap nine slowing the feature down and tightening the field. "The Gasman" Cayden Carter, started tenth and ran down the the leaders. Carter used a slide job in turn three on the last lap to take the lead and the win making the Carter Brothers both winners. Money finished second with Stewart, McBirnie and Tim Ward rounding out the top five.

John's Tree Service IMCA Sport Compacts was up next for their 14 lap feature event. Dustin Grout and Hunter Patrick started on the front row, Grout led the opening lap. Bryan Vannausdle started third but took the lead on lap two. Grout and Vannausdle battled it out with Vannausdle grabbing the win. Kolby Sabin and Mitchell Bunch wrestled second and third respectively away from Grout. Grout was fourth and Drake Bohlmeyer was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Rick's Towing IMCA Hobby Stocks 16 lap feature event. Randy Lamar led the first two laps before a caution came out on lap two, Aaron Martin spun on front stretch. Dillon Richards took the lead away on the restart but 2020 track champ Brandon Cox worked his way from eleventh to the race lead on lap six. Cox pulled away only to see a pair of late race cautions forcing a three lap dash to the checkers. Cox held off Richards and Solomon Bennett to take the win. Bennett, George Reeh, Lamar and Richards finished second through fifth respectively.

Final checkered flag flew on Night 1 of the Frostbuster Series at 10pm allowing me to roll back in to my driveway at just after 11:30pm. Pictures I took are now posted on the Trackside Report Facebook Page in a photo Album called Stuart AgHub Midwest IMCA Frostbuster 3-30-21

Frostbuster Series next race will be Friday Night at the Marshalltown Speedway after Wednesday's Frostbuster was moved to Sunday and the Thursday's Frostbuster was cancelled. Benton County Speedway in Vinton was originally scheduled for Wednesday but moved to Sunday to allow for more time to work on the track. Independence Motor Speedway was scheduled for Thursday Night but cancelled because of extreme cold temperatures.

Stuart Speedway opens up Track Points on Wednesday April 7th for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Sport Compacts, IMCA Mod Lites and Outlaw Mini Mods. The following week the bullring will be invaded by the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models.
