Lautenbach, Johnson and Aikey Take Home Wins at the Red Dralle Memorial

After having fun the night before at the Marshalltown Speedway at Toby K's Hideaway 1K, i made the decision to make the trek to the Independence Motor Speedway for the Inaugural Red Dralle Memorial.

Before that could happen i headed to the Team 3W race shop to help get the car ready. I helped change a gear, put the driveshaft back on , radiator back in after it was patched up after it suffered the damage from the night before after all of that we got the car put together and on the trailer and arrived at Independence at 6:30pm.

At Independence it was the Inaugural Red Dralle Memorial for the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models, World Product IMCA Stock Car Shootout Series Night #2 and the IMCA Sport Mods were also on hand to compete.

IMCA Sport Mods were up first for $504 to win 20 lap feature. Ken Kositzky and Racer Hulin would lead the field to the green and it was Hulin that would take the early race lead and it look as if the feature would run caution free but then the caution came out on lap 12 for Kositzky going around in turn 4. Hulin would now have Brad Lautenbach from New Franken, Wisconsin and Tyler Droste on his back bumper. Hulin would have to battle with Lautenbach, Lautenbach would make the pass for the lead on lap 14 and go on and take the win. Hulin would take 2nd, Droste was 3rd, Danny Dvorak was 4th and Tyler Hackett from Algoma, Wisconsin in 5th. Drew Fish, Joel Rust, Ray Lundry, Jim Buhlman and Kim Siems rounding out the top 10.

Next up was the "Class To Tough To Tame" IMCA Stock Cars for their 30 lap feature after 4 heats and 2 b-features dwindle the field down from 35 to 24 cars for the feature. Damon Murty and Justin Temeyer would lead them to the green and it was Temeyer taking the lead on lap 1 but then the caution would come out after 1 lap was down for Derek Green going around. On the restart Temeyer would have to deal with Murty and Sean Johnson, it was Johnson getting a wonderful restart as he would make the pass on Murty and Temeyer to take the lead on lap 2. The caution again would come out on lap 3 for Ryan Leeman as he would slide off the top of turn 3. Johnson wouldn't let that caution bother him as he would remain out from even after the final race caution with 9 laps to go for Tony Ritterbush going off turn 1 and 2 and getting in to the guard rail. Johnson would still go on and take the win, Murty was 2nd, Donavon Smith took 3rd, Devin Snellenberger was 4th and 21st place start Trent Murphy would take 5th. Rounding out the top 10 was Temeyer, Larry Karcz, Jeff Wollam, Jay Schmidt and John Heinz.

The finale of the night was the 84 lap Red Dralle Memorial for the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Models. It took 5 heats, 2 b-features and 3 provisionals to determine the field of 24. Joe Zrostlik and Nate Beuseling would lead the field to the green. Zrostlik would lead the first 15 laps before Beuseling would make the pass and take the lead on lap 16. The first caution would then come out on lap 17 for Brian Klein in turn 2. Beuseling would still continue to lead until lap 31 when Justin Reed would make the pass for the lead but the caution would again fly on lap 34 for Dan Shelliam spinning on the frontstretch.  On the restart, Reed would have Beuseling and  Jeff Aikey right there behind him. Aikey would make the pass on Beuseling and then make the pass on Reed on lap 36. A lap later on lap 37 the caution would come out for a single car incident in turn 3. Aikey would resume command and the only thing that look like would slow the leaders was the lap traffic but then the final race caution flew on lap 62. Aikey would still manage to hold on to the lead the final 22 laps despite Reed trying to take it away in the end it was Aikey taking the $5,004 to win pay check. Reed, Stephan Kammerer, Colby Springsteen and Beuseling rounding out the top 5. Ray Guss Jr, Brian Klein, Terry Neal, Andy Eckrich and Nick Marolf in positions 6th through 10th.

Racing action came to and end at 11:20p. Thanks to Tyler and Jeff Wollam, Dusty Van Kirk and the whole Wollam Racing team that worked on the race car. Thanks for letting me tag along and we should definately do it again some time. Thanks to IMCA for giving some great racing action as well at Marshalltown and Independence.

Smith and Carter take $1,000 in Toby K's Hideaway 1K

It was suppose to be night #2 of Iowa Speedweeks but with mother nature taking Alta away on Monday it was night #1 now. There was 138 cars signed in to do battle on the high-banks of Marshalltown. 56 IMCA Sport Mods and 47 IMCA Stock Cars were signed in to race for $1,000 to win.

The first feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts. Dallas Chandler and Nathan Chandler would lead them too the green but before a lap could be completed the yellow would come out for debris. On the restart it was Nathan Chandler taking the lead but just after 1 lap was in the books the red flag would come out as Bill Whalen Jr would roll off the top of turn 2. Whalen would climb from the car and be okay. The last 11 laps would be run caution free and it was Nathan Chandler taking the win. Merv Chandler would finish 2nd, Tyler Whalen was 3rd, Jer Pederson came across the line in 4th but disqualifed in post race tech so that moved up John Whalen to 4th and Dallas Chandler to 5th.

IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature was up next, Kevin Fee and Calvin Dhondt would lead the field to the green. Fee would take the early race lead but would have somebody on his back bumper every lap. The caution would come out on lap 2 for a few cars getting together on the frontstretch. Fee again would maintain control but the caution came out on lap 8 for David Castellano in turn 2. Fee and the field would again see the caution come out on lap 11 for Andy Boeckman coming to a stop in turn 4. The final caution would come out the next lap for Dhondt going around in turn 4. On this restart though Fee would have to deal with Brandon Pruitt, Pruitt would make the pass and go on to take the win. Michael Murphy, Randy Embrey, Dustin Elliott and Eric Stanton would finish 2nd through 5th.

Toby K's Hideaway 1K for the IMCA Sport Mods was up next. Before 1 lap was completed there would be 3 cautions, Cory Rose would go around in turn 2 then 3 cars would get together in turn 2 and the final one was a single car incident. When racing got going it was Madrid's Scott Davis taking the early lead but 3rd row inside starter Cayden Carter would make the pass on lap 2 but would have to worry about Davis in the later stages in the races again after the red flag came out on lap 13 for David Schlicht, Schlicht would climb from the car okay after he rolled on the frontstretch after contact with Doug Smith. Carter would hold off Davis and take the win. Randy Roberts took 3rd, Austin Kaplan was 4th and Kyle Brown was 5th.

The final feature would  make this class live up to its name of "Class Too Tough To Tame" IMCA Stock Cars. Before 1 lap would be completed in the 30 lap feature the yellow would come out forcing the straight up restart. On the restart it was Mike VanGenderen taking the early lead but then after 3 laps were down the caution would come out again for Mike Nichols in turn 4.  VanGenderen would still remain out front until the next caution on lap 7. VanGenderen would now have Sean Johnson, Donavon Smith, John Heinz, Jay Schmidt, Schmidt started the feature 16th.  Jay Schmidt would make the pass and take the lead from VanGenderen on lap 9. Schmidt would hold on to that lead until lap 27 depsite a caution on lap 19. On lap 28, Schmidt would slide up and open the door for Donavon Smith would make the pass for the lead. The caution would come out of a single car incident on lap 28 setting up a green-white-checkered. Smith would take the win but 3 cars would get together in turn 2 to make it finish under yellow. 16th place starter Jay Schmidt got 2nd, 19th place start Trent Murphy took 3rd, Sean Johnson and Damon Murty was 4th and 5th.

Racing action came to an end at 11:20pm. Iowa Speedweek's will continue at the Independence Motor Speedway tomorrow night with IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Late Models and IMCA Sport Mods.

Friday Night at Marshalltown will be Leytham Racing Night and Kids 11 and Under are reminded to bring their bikes for bike races!

Kyle Suter Memorial at The Beaver Was Weather Out

I was looking forward to making my first trip up to "The Beaver" Buena Vista Raceway in Alta but mother nature wouldn't let it happen as she would dump 4.5 to 5 inches in Alta/Storm Lake Area forcing the cancellation of the Kyle Suter Memorial Stock Car Shootout.

They tried to pump water out of the infield and off the race track after it caused flooding but it was ultimately called off at 1pm.

“There just wasn’t enough time to get the infield pumped out and the racing surface ready for this evening,” explained IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “BVR will hold their Kyle Suter Memorial program at a later date. The decision to reschedule the Stock Car series date will be made this week.”
A $1,500 point fund will be paid regardless of whether or not the Alta date Is rescheduled.
Both the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will run for $1,000 to win when the series travels to Marshalltown Speedway Tuesday, June 28. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $400 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $150.  The grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

Another $1,000 to win show for the Stocks is scheduled for Wednesday, June 29 at Independence Motor Speedway. That evening’s Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models totes a $5,004 top prize while Northern SportMods chase a $500 check.  Indee opens the grandstand at 4 p.m. and starts racing at 7 p.m.

See you all at Motown, I think because Alta cancelled i should put my June Stats for Marshalltown together and post it on here!

Marco Andretti win the Iowa Corn Indy 250

After a great night of racing it was off to see the open wheel drivers in the Star Mazda Series, Firestone Indy Lights Series and the IZOD Indy Car Series compete at the Iowa Speedway on Saturday. As I started to make the drive to the Iowa Speedway it was raining but by the time we arrived at the speedway it wasn't raining.

We did some walking around first and then it was time for the first race of the day. The Star Mazda Championship Series for the Pizza Ranch 100. Martin Scuncio would lead the first lap but 16 year old Sage Karam took the lead on lap 2. Karam would have to battle with Scuncio in the early going when Scuncio would take the lead back on lap 6 and then Karam would regain the lead on lap 7. Karam would go on to the win meanwhile Scuncio would end the day in the garage. J.V. Horto took 2nd, Gustavo Menezes was 3rd, Tristan Vautier was 4th and Tatiana Calderon was 5th.

After that race was the Firestone Indy Lights Series Sukup 100, 115 lap race or 100 miles. The Original start would be called back as the cars weren't together and side by side. Esteban Guerrieri would lead the that lap along with the next lap. On lap 3, Guerrieri would get together with Gustavo Yacaman  in turn 3 but still able to keep the lead despite the yellow coming out. Guerrieri would hold on to the lead until Josef Newgarden made the pass on lap 26 for the lead. Newgarden wouldn't look back as he would take the win. Yacaman, Bryan Clauson, Victor Garcia and Duarte Ferreira rounded out the top 5.

The final race of the day was the featured race. The Iowa Corn Indy 250 presented by Pioneer for the IZOD Indy Car Series. Takuma Sato and Danica Patrick earned front row honors after qualifying on Friday. Sato would take the early lead but on lap 8, 2007 & 2009 Winner at Iowa Dario Franchitti would take the lead from Sato. The only things that would slow down Franchitti were the cautions. The first caution came out on lap 24 for James Jakes in turn 2. The 2nd caution came out on lap 42 for Ana Beatriz and Mike Conway in turn 2.

The next caution wouldn't come out until lap 91 for Will Power putting his car in the turn 2 wall and then the 4th caution came out on lap 115 for Sebastian Saavedra in turn 2 after contact with the wall. After that caution is were things start to heat up. Marco Andretti would take the lead on lap 157 from Franchitti. Franchitti would resume the lead on lap 161 but then pit stops had to be made and JR Hildebrand took the lead on lap 184 in the meantime the caution came out for Takuma Sato after putting his car in the turn 2 wall. Hildebrand would come in so it would hand the lead over to Andretti. 2010 winner Tony Kanaan would take the lead on lap 203.

Kanaan lead would be short lived as Andretti took it back on lap 208. Andretti's lead would be short lived because Kanaan took it back on lap 212. Kanaan would hold on to the lead until lap 232 when Andretti would get by after using a push to pass. Andretti would go on take his first win since 2006 at Infineon Raceway. "TK" Tony Kanaan finished 2nd, Scott Dixon was 3rd, JR Hildebrand was 4th and Dario Franchitti was 5th. Ryan Briscoe, Helio Castroneves, Ryan Hunter-Reay, James Hinchcliffe and Danica Patrick rounded out the top 10.

Racing came to a finish around the 10pm. Simona de Silvestro, who is a regular on the series was not cleared to compete this week do to the concussion at Milwaukee the week before so see had to take 5 pts.

Next race weekend at Iowa Speedway is July 15th and 16th. On Friday July 15th its a Iowa Speedway Fan Fest along with practice sessions for the ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. On Saturday July 16th its the Prairie Meadows 200 for the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 200.

Up next for Foxman is 3 nights of the Stock Car Shootouts at Alta, Marshalltown and Independence so until next time!

Hennigar would go on and take the win in the feature that would go green-to-checkered. Randy Bryan would pass Obermebt for 2nd, Josh May was 4th and Joel Huggins came home in 5th.

Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks were up next for their 12 lap feature and just like the Mod Lites this feature would go green-to-checkered. Jennifer Hulin would let the first 4 laps but would be passed by Brandon Brinton on lap 5. Brinton would take the win, Eric Larson got 2nd, Hulin fell back to 3rd, Michael Murphy got 4th and Jake Nelson took 5th.

After 4 heats and 1 b-feature helped get the field down to 24 cars the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods were up next for their 15 lap feature. Jenae Gustin would take the early race lead but then the only race caution came out on lap 5 when a several cars got together in turn one and two. Gustin would have to battle with Cayden Carter on the restart and Carter would make the pass for the lead on lap 7. That pass would also allow Carter to cruise to victory lane. Scott Davis, Dylan Book, Gustin and Dane Larson.

In the Mike's Hard Lemonade IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, we saw some great three and four wide racing.Michael Jaennette would lead the first 6 laps but Jay Schmidt would make the pass for the lead on lap 7. It looked like the only that was going to slow Schmidt was the lap traffic but then the yellow came out on lap 16 for a car in turn 1 setting up a green-white-checkered. Schmidt would still manage to hold off the challenges from Damon Murty to take the win. Jaennette came home in 3rd, Donavon Smith and Kevin Rose was 4th and 5th respectively.

The final feature of the night would be a very exciting 20 lap feature for the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds. Joel Bushore would lead the first lap but the only race caution came out after a completion of 1 lap for a couple cars getting together in turn 4. On the restart Bushore would be passed by Todd Shute. Shute look to be pulling away but Jimmy Gustin was coming and go up to second and start to chase down Shute. Shute and Gustin would be battling it after a little contact between the 2 they both kept battling for the lead. Shute would maintain the lead but coming off turn 4 on the final lap, Gustin would make the pass and take the win at the line with Shute coming home in 2nd. Adam Larson, Joel Bushore and Jon Snyder rounded out the top 5.

After that though it was time for the Spectator Eliminator Races and it was a guy named Blake taking the win. Racing action came to and end at a little after 10p.

Its Back to the Speedway on Tuesday for "Toby K's Hideaway 1K" for the World Products IMCA Stock Car Series and IMCA Sport Mods each competing for a $1,000 to win, IMCA Hobby Stocks $400 to win and IMCA Sport Compacts $150 to win. Hot Laps at 6:15p and Racing at 7p.

Murphy Brothers Win Arnold Motor Supply Mid-Season Championships at Marshalltown

After a week off it was back to racing at the high-banked Marshalltown Speedway on Arnold Motor Supply Mid-Season Championship and KMJ Performance Night at the Races. We had 90 cars signed in to do battle including 21 year old Zach Hensley from Green River, Wyoming. The amazing story here is Hensley was born without legs and was told he wouldn't make it this long and his father told him if he graduated high school he would get him a race car so thats where we are as it was great to see this amazing story.

On to the racing action up first for their feature event was the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites for 15 laps. After the intial start being called back it was Tim Hennigar taking the lead. Josh May would make the pass on Hennigar on lap 4 for the lead and shortly after that  the caution flag would wave but it was Josh May taking advantage on the restart and going on to the win, Hennigar would end up 2nd. Finishing behind May and Hennigar was Mike Morrill, James May and Joel Huggins.

Next up was the Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hoby Stocks for 12 laps. Rookie Brice Udelhoven would lead the first lap but shortly after the completion of lap 1 we woul see the yellow fly as Jennifer Hulin and Eric Larson would both go off turn 2. On the restart it was Gary Pfantz taking the lead but his lead would be short lived as Michael Murphy would make the pass on lap 5 and go on and take the win. Kevin Fee was 2nd, Pfantz ended up 3rd, Eric Knutson got 4th and Josh Saunders came home in 5th.

Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods 15 lap feature was up next but only after 4 heats and a b-feature help dwindle the field down to 24 cars. DJ Robinson would take the early race lead but then 2 caution flags came out, first one on lap 5 and then on lap 6. Robinson would still remain the lead but on the restart of the 2nd caution, Scott Davis would make the pass and that would end up as the winning pass on lap 7 as Davis would go on to the win. Cayden Carter started 12th and end up 2nd, Carter Vandenberg was 3rd, Fred Leytham was 4th and Jake Strayer was 5th.

In the Mike's Hard Lemonade IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, we would see why this class is known as the "Class To Tough To Tame" because this feautre would go green-to-checkered. Trevor Titus would lead the first 6 laps before Jay Schmidt would make the pass for the lead on lap 7. Schmidt would then deal with lap traffic and this would open the door for Trent Murphy. Murphy would make the pass for the lead on lap 14 and take the win joining his younger brother Michael in victory lane. Jay Schmidt would end up 2nd, Damon Murty got 3rd, Curt Hook was 4th and Jeff Wollam was 5th.

The final feature of the night was the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature. "Toddzilla" Todd Shute would lead the first 9 laps but Jon Snyder would use the high line and make the pass for the lead. Snyder would start to pull away but then 2 cautions would come out, first on lap 14 for Andrew Kinser losing the handle and then on lap 18 for Todd Shute losing the handle in turn 1. Snyder would not let the cautions bother him as he would prove why his nickname is "Showtime" as he would go on to the victory. Adam Larson, Ronn Lauritzen, Jimmy Gustin and Josh Truman would round out the top 5.

Racing action came to and end at 9:56pm. Next Friday will be Clement Heating and Cooling Night and fans can get in for $5 grandstand admission if they say "Clement Heating and Cooling" at the ticket booth. Along with the IMCA Modifieds will run for $500 to win and we will have the Spectator Eliminator Races as well. Hot Laps at 6:45p and Racing at 7:30p.

Stensland, Davis, Durbin, Gifford and Murphy Win on Little League Night at Boone

Since Friday night rained out i decided to go somewhere for racing on Saturday Night and that choice was the Boone Speedway "Iowa's Action Track" or "Historic" Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. I decided to head to Boone and a good choice that was for me.

At the Boone Speedway it was Little League Night at the races where they had batting practice in the infield which delayed the start of the races and delayed the start of features also along with that all students 19 & under were admitted free.

Only 1 class would need a b-feature and that would be the Mod Lites/Dwarf Cars. Tim Hennigar would come across the line in first but would come across the scale 2 lbs too light so he was disaqualifed so that would give the win too Terry Sorenson, Tim Milner was 2nd and now Larry Sorenson was 3rd.

After a farming session and some infield batting practice again it was feature time and first up was the Mod Lites/Dwarf Cars for 15 laps. Joel Huggins and Travis Stensland battled for the lead through the early going with Huggins the leader. On lap 8, Stensland made the pass for the lead and would go on to the win in the feature that went green to checkered. Huggins would pull into the infield on the final lap and that would hand 2nd place over to Travis's dad Jeff Stensland. Josh May, Charlie Brown and James May rounded out the top 5.

IMCA Sport Mods were up next for 18 laps and it was Stacy Clark taking the early lead but then a caution would come out on lap 6 for Jason Purvis spinning in turn 4. Clark would remain out front until lap 10 when Brian Miller made the pass for the lead but then Miller and the field would see the yellow come out with two laps to go so that would put Scott Davis on his back bumper on the restart. Davis would make the pass on the last lap and take the win from Miller. Nick Roberts took 3rd, Stacy Clark was 4th and Tara Longnecker was 5th.

In the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature it was Craig Carlson taking the early race lead but Jake Durbin would charge up and take the lead on lap 5. Durbin look to be cruising away but then two cautions came out on lap 16 and 17. Durbin wouldn't let that bother him as he would go on and take the win. Josh Gilman, Craig Carlson, Cale Sponsler and Randy Havlik would round out the top 5.

The class "Too Tough To Tame" IMCA Stock Cars were up next for their very competitive 18 lap feature. Eric Brown would lead early and looked to be in confortable form until a caution on lap 8 that resulted in a red flag. Terry Corneilson would find his world go upside down and sideways and come to a rest on his side on the backstretch. Corneilson was not injured. Brown would continue to to lead but Richards would take the lead on lap 15 only to lose it to Jerry Gifford then the final caution came out on lap 16. On the restart Gifford, Brown, Richards and Donavon Smith would battle for the top spot and it would an exciting final 2 laps. Gifford would lead the final 2 laps and take the win with Richards in 2nd, Brown in 3rd, Smith in 4th and Trent Murphy was 5th.

Final feature of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stocks 12 lap feature. Brandon Brinton would lead the first 7 laps despite cautions on lap 3 and 5. The caution on lap 5 was for Tyler Pickett, who would lose the rearend out of his car going into turn 3. Michael Murphy would make the pass on Brinton on lap 8 for the lead and then another race caution would come out. Murphy would continue to lead and just after he took the white flag the red flag would come out for Eric Stanton, as Stanton would roll his car in turn 1, he wouldn't be injured. Brinton was 2nd, John Watson was 3rd, Austin Luellen was 4th and Danny Watson was 5th.

Racing action came to an end at 11pm. Next Saturday Night will be Pat Clemons Inc. & Harris Auto Racing Mid-Season Championships Night at the Races. Check out http://www.raceboone.com/ for racing results and points standings.

Hot and Steamy Weather led to Hot and Steamy Racing in Mo'Town

Temperatures rose to the upper 90's, racing action heated up on the high-banks of the Marshalltown Speedway. 98 race cars checked in to do battle on Minute Man Printing Night.

The first feature of the night after the heats and a Sport Mod b-feature was the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites for 15 laps. Tim Hennigar would take command early from his pole position but then a caution would come out on lap 3. Hennigar wouldn't let it bother him but he would have Colby Oberembt and James May right there. Oberembt would take the lead from Hennigar on lap 6, Hennigar wouldn't give up thought as he would come back and take the lead on lap 12 when Oberembt would have some mechanical issues forcing a caution. Hennigar would go on and take the win with Mike Morril, Josh May, Randy Bryan and Joel Huggins right behind rounding out the top 5.

Next up was the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods 15 lap feature only after 4 heats and a b-feature determined the 24 cars for the feature. Jenae Gustin would take the early race lead from the pole position but that lead would be short lived as Dane Larson would take the top spot on lap 4. The only thing to slow Larson down was race cautions on lap 4, 5, 10 and 11. Larson would take the win, Nick Roberts was 2nd, Kyle Brown was 3rd, Cayden Carter was 4th and Tyler Droste was 5th.

In the Mike's Hard Lemonade IMCA Stock Car 18 lap feature it was Last Week's Winner Steve Meyer taking the lead early after starting 4th row inside. Meyer and that field would see the first caution come out on lap 2 for debris and on the restart Meyer would be passed by Trent Murphy for the lead. The caution would again come out for a couple of cars sitting on the back stretch. Murphy would continue to lead but his lead would be short lived as Donavon Smith would take the top spot on lap 6 and not look back despite a caution on lap 12. Finishing behind Smith was Meyer, Murphy, Curt Hook and Kevin Rose.

Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature was up next and it was "Toddzilla" Todd Shute taking full advantage of the pole position and lead the feature from start-to-finish in the green-to-checkered feature. Adam Larson was 2nd, Scott Simatovich was 3rd, Jimmy Gustin was 4th and Jon Snyder was 5th.

The final feature of the night was the Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks 12 lap feature. Before the field could complete 1 lap the caution would come out for a car in turn 2 when the race did get going it was Gary Pfantz taking early command. Pfantz's lead would be short lived though as Donavon Nunnikhoven would make the pass for the lead and go on and take the win. Pfantz, Eric Knutson, Gene Nicklas and Brandon Pruitt was 2nd through 5th.

Racing action came to a finish at 10pm. Next Friday Night will be JR Motorsports Night at the Races also their will be the Annual Faster Paster Races.

Van Genderen wins Modifieds at Highway 3 Raceway

Just 6 days after the USMTS Special at Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, the speedway would roar back to life with another great night of racing at the Home of the Giant Tenderloin. The night saw 3 and 4 wide racing action and a very smooth race track a little dusty by the time features came on to the speedway.

10 USRA Stock Cars, 16 USRA B-Mods, 9 USRA Hobby Stocks and 24 IMCA Modifieds signed in to do battle on the big half mile.

First up in the features was the USRA Stock Cars for 15 laps. Tory Reicks would get a wonderful start and lead the race from start to finish depsite a race caution on lap 14 for Dan Feltus coming to a stop in turn 3 & 4 setting up a green-white-checkered and now making the event 16 laps. Reicks would still take the win, Dan Trimble was 2nd, Arlen Hoy was 3rd, Tom Schmitt was 4th and John Emerson was 5th.

USRA B-Mods were up next for 15 laps and Michael Grantham took the early lead but then after the completion of lap 5 the yellow came out for Jamey Ayers in turn 3. On the restart Grantham would have Joel Rust and Dan Tenold but it wasn't those 2 he had to worry about because Alex Zwanziger would take the lead on lap 10 and go on to the win. Mike Jaeger was 2nd, Grantham was 3rd, Brandon Hare was 4th and Joel Rust was 5th.

The 12 lap USRA Hobby Stock feature was next on to the track and it was Stac Schroeder taking the early lead and never looking back depsite a late race caution for one of the Wiltse cars spinning in turn 4. Finishing behind Schroeder was Chris Hovden, Austin Wolfgram, Adam Gebel and Ryan Bochmann.

The final feature was the $1,000 to win IMCA Modified Special 25 lap feature where 24 cars would take to the track. Duane Peterson would lead lap 1 but "Downtown"David Brown would take the lead on lap 2 and Brown look to be having fun out front and then the yellow came out on lap 5, first for Dave Doughty stopping in turn 2. On the restart ther would be a pile up in turn 1 which also saw a car go over . Jason Snyder would roll his car but be okay, Jerry King, JJ Wise and Levi Nielsen would also be involved. Brown would continue to set the pace but then a caution would come out on lap 14 for Nielsen in turn 4. On the restart, Brown would have some issues and that would give the lead over to Van Genderen and then the caution came out for Kurt Krauskopf, Jeremy Brogaard and Duane Peterson in turn 2. Van Genderen would lead the final 10 laps and take the win. Ron Barker was 2nd, Richie Gustin was 3rd, Troy Cordes was 4th and Scott Olson.

Racing action started at 7p, Heat Races finished at 8p, Features started at 8:15p and Racing came to an end at 9:31p.

Special Thanks to the Highway 3 Raceway Staff for letting me attend another race at the Speedway. Thanks to the sponsors of the nights racing action, Cooper Motors of Allison and Schroeder Racing Products of Iowa Falls.

Next race at Highway 3 Raceway will be the Butler County Fair Races on Tuesday June 21st with USRA B-Mods and USRA Stock Cars competing for $600 to win, USRA Hobby Stocks $300 to win and Hornets $100 to win.
