First off, let me apologize for the delay in getting the blog recap from the Hoker Trucking FloRacing Night in America event presented by Rookie's Rockin' Sports Bar and Malvern Bank at Mason City Motor Speedway, powered by Pritchard Family Auto Stores, posted. Going into the night, I had set a 10:00 p.m. alarm, or planned to leave as soon as the Late Model feature was completed, for the drive back to Marshalltown. I had plans to get up bright and early the next morning to head to the Iowa State Fair, which I did. My plan was to catch up on the blog and finish the recap afterward. However, I also needed to watch the replay to capture notes from the Hobby Stock feature. After spending the early part of the day at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, I was completely exhausted. Rather than rush through the recap, I decided to wait until Friday to sit down, gather my notes, and properly put the blog together.

Eighty-three cars signed in for Wednesday night's special, taking on the 1/3-mile, semi-banked dirt oval located on the North Iowa Fairgrounds and promoted by Ryne, Todd, and Janet Staley. The field included 27 FloRacing Night in America Super Late Models, down from the 30 that competed at Marshalltown the night before. USRA B-Mods brought 32 cars, while 27 USRA Hobby Stocks also signed in. I’m not sure of the exact time, but it appears the final checkered flag waved around 10:30 p.m.

Following the heat races, Todd and the track-prep team decided to bring out the road grader to work in the pesky layer of dirt that simply refused to pack in. It turned out to be the right decision, as the track produced some fantastic feature racing throughout the night.

A big kudos also goes out to Jeff Hoker of Hoker Trucking, Jerry VanSickel of Marshalltown Speedway, Todd Staley of Mason City Motor Speedway, and Ben Shelton of FloRacing Night in America for putting this event and Iowa Super Late Model Speedweek together. I also have to say that working with the FloRacing Night in America and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials on Tuesday night at Marshalltown was an absolute blast. It was a great group to work alongside, and I truly appreciated the opportunity.

𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥, 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬 & 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐬 & 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐲

Saturday marked five years since my brother passed away on his 32nd birthday. He would have been 37 this year. I wasn't sure where I would end up going racing this week, but after giving it some thought, I got ready for one of three possibilities: Dallas County Fairgrounds Speedway in Adel, Boone Speedway in Boone, or Independence Motor Speedway in Independence. I still wasn't sure which track I would visit until I climbed into the car and started driving. In the end, I decided to make the trip to Adel for the night's racing action.

The race night also brought an end to the community's annual Sweet Corn Festival, along with the Stars & Cars Party. Stars & Cars gave fans an opportunity to get up close with the drivers, collect autographs, and pick up plenty of free goodies. Once the festivities wrapped up, it was time to turn the attention to the racing action.

A total of 61 cars signed in to take on the 1/5-mile, high-banked dirt oval at the Dallas County Fairgrounds. Kudos to promoter Jimmy Keenan and the entire staff for putting together a fantastic race night, as fans were treated to plenty of action and excitement throughout the evening.

A big thank you goes out to the great sponsors who helped make the Open Figure 8 feature a $1,000-to-win event, while the Front-Wheel Drive class paid $500 to win. Special thanks to S&N Plumbing, Hilburn Trucking, John & Nicole Hilburn, and Means Racing for their support and for helping make the night even more exciting for the drivers and fans.

Final checkered flag waved at 10:21 p.m., but the night wasn't quite over. A Bags Tournament followed shortly after the races in the pit area. Once the racing wrapped up, I headed for home and arrived back in Marshalltown right around midnight.

The first feature of the night was the Castellano Racing Open Figure 8 15-lap feature, with a $1,000 top prize on the line. Dylan McKasson wrestled the lead away from his sister, Aubrey McKasson, in the early going, while Aubrey settled into a battle with "The Iceman" Raymond Cornelius for second.  The first caution flew on lap three when the yellow tires marking the center of turns three and four in the Figure 8 were knocked onto the racing surface. Dylan McKasson got a great restart, but behind him, Aubrey McKasson and Cornelius made contact. The incident resulted in Aubrey slowing on lap four with a left-front flat tire. From there, Dylan McKasson remained in control and drove on to capture his third win of the season. Cornelius, piloting his Pro Stock car, finished second, while Casey McKasson took third. Levi Mathes finished fourth, and "The Boogieman" Braden Anschutz rounded out the top five.

Next up was the Mitchell's Mobile Repair Pro Stock Figure 8 15-lap feature. After breaking his own car in the staging area, Chris Mitchell was grateful when his good friend Ryan Langille loaned him a car for the feature. Mitchell made the most of the opportunity, leading all 15 laps to capture the feature victory. Raymond Cornelius chased Mitchell throughout the feature but couldn't find a way around him and settled for second. Seth Parker finished third, Garrett Shinn was fourth, and Damon Bennewitz rounded out the top five.

Blake Mitchell led the opening two laps of the Tori's Timeless Captures Junior Front-Wheel Drive feature before the race's only caution came out. Rowan Cumpton briefly took over the lead from Mitchell, but slight contact from Mitchell sent Cumpton spinning. Race officials penalized Mitchell and returned Cumpton to the lead. Cumpton took full advantage of the opportunity, holding off Mitchell for the remainder of the feature to score his first career feature victory.

The J & A Trucking Dirt Trucks were next on the schedule for their 15-lap feature, but it took a few attempts to get the race underway. Before a lap could be completed, the caution flag flew when Will Shivers jumped the start. On the following restart, Quinten Shivers developed a fuel leak, bringing out another caution. Once the race finally got going, Will Shivers grabbed the lead, with Travis Shivers running third and making it look like it could be a Shivers family sweep of the podium. However, the caution came out on lap six when Quinten Shivers spun in turns three and four with a flat tire. On the ensuing restart, Will Shivers spun in turn two, handing the lead to Travis. Travis maintained control despite another caution on lap nine for debris on the backstretch at the entrance to turn three. He held on the rest of the way to capture his first victory of the 2026 season. Will Shivers recovered to finish second, Jason Collins took third, Dustin Boles was fourth, and Quinten Shivers rounded out the top five.

Before the New World Trailer Front-Wheel Drive 15-lap feature, promoter Jimmy Keenan offered an additional $100 to any driver willing to start from the tail. Dennis Hoover declined the offer, giving Blake Fineran the opportunity to make the bold move. Fineran accepted, electing to start at the back and put on a show. His decision moved Matt Pool to the outside of the front row, and Pool took full advantage by grabbing the early lead. Logan Stevens stayed close behind Pool, but shortly after lap one was completed, the caution flag flew when William Post came to a stop on the backstretch. Pool held off Hoover and Stevens on the restart, while Fineran quickly worked his way into fourth. Pool continued to lead as Fineran methodically moved forward, passing Stevens and Hoover to take over second before the caution came out on lap six when Hunter Stanley spun in turns three and four. Pool remained in command until lap eight, when he left the door open and Fineran capitalized, taking over the lead. The final caution came on lap 11 when Joseph Carolus made contact with the wall in turn two. Fineran remained in control through the final laps to score his seventh victory of the season at Adel after starting from the rear of the field. Pool finished second, Stevens was third, Matthew Howard crossed the line in fourth, and Hoover rounded out the top five.

The father-daughter duo of Ryan and Julia Langille led the opening six laps of the Van Wyk Garage Cruisers 15-lap feature before the father-son team of Corey and Raymond Cornelius raced their way into the lead. The Cornelius duo went on to capture their fourth victory of the season, but the win came with plenty of drama. With approximately six laps remaining, heavy smoke began pouring from their car. The pair admitted in victory lane that the engine had finally given up as they approached the checkered flag. Ryan and Julia Langille finished second, while Chris and Audrey Nigon crossed the line in third. The husband-and-wife team of Chris and Shelbie Mitchell was awarded fourth after overcoming an earlier breakdown.

Gerald Ford led the opening three laps of the Gregg's Garage Crown Vic 15-lap feature before Greg Dollens of Dallas Center raced his way into the top spot. The only caution of the feature came on lap four when Isaac Norton made contact with the wall in turn two. Dollens handled the restart with ease, holding off Ford and pulling away from the field. He went on to capture his fourth victory of the season. Ford finished second, TJ Fickbohm crossed the line in third, Nate Fountas was fourth, and Chris Tolle rounded out the top five.

The final feature of the night was the Sta-Rite Transmission Hobby Stocks 15-lap main event. Zachary Cleghorn jumped out to the early lead, with Phil Castellano close behind applying pressure. The first caution came on lap two for debris on the backstretch. Cleghorn continued to control the race after the restart, fending off Castellano and looking like he was on his way to another victory. However, the complexion of the race changed on lap eight when Matthew Kopaska spun in turns three and four directly in front of the leader. Cleghorn was unable to avoid the incident and suffered front-end damage, forcing him to retire from the race. Castellano inherited the lead, but the caution flag flew once more on lap nine when Alex Fickbohm spun in turn four. Castellano remained in control through the final laps to capture the feature victory. Points leader Travis Fenton finished second, Garrett Croy crossed the line in third, "Cupcake" Jacob Reiter was fourth, and Alex Willemsen rounded out the top five.

The next race at Dallas County Fairgrounds Speedway is Saturday, August 29, featuring Kids Rides Night. Young fans will have the opportunity to ride around the track in race cars before hot laps begin. Gates open at 4:00 p.m., the draw closes at 5:30 p.m., hot laps begin at 6:00 p.m., with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. Pit passes are $25 for ages 11 and older and $15 for children 10 and under.

The season continues with Season Championship Night on Saturday, September 5. The evening will also feature a Pit Party following the races, along with a Bags Tournament.

For more information about the Dallas County Fairgrounds Speedway check out the Dallas County Fairgrounds Speedway on Facebook.

I took photos throughout the night, including the Stars & Cars Party, hot laps, heat races, and a few shots during the features. They are all posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman page in a photo album titled Dallas County Speedway Sweet Corn Festival Races 8-8-26.

𝐀 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐉 𝐁𝐢𝐨 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 & 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐊𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤

Another Sunday meant making the nearly 100-mile trip to Sports Park Raceway in Fort Dodge. Some people may wonder why I continue to make that drive, but the answer is simple. I appreciate the support and respect I receive from track owner Jeff Frevert and track manager Sarah Stewart, and it's a place where I enjoy being part of the race-day experience.

Like many race tracks lately, the on-track action has been intense at times, with emotions and tempers occasionally running high. Through it all, I choose to remain positive. Track officials are human, and while they won't see every incident, they work hard and care deeply about putting on a safe, competitive racing program. Taking frustrations to social media rarely solves anything. If you have concerns about something that happened at the track, the best approach is to pick up the phone, have a respectful conversation with track officials, and give them the opportunity to address those concerns. They care far more than many people realize.

CJ Bio America of Fort Dodge sponsored Sunday night's racing program, while Kids Night was presented by Kemna Auto of Fort Dodge. The evening began with a driver autograph session outside the front gate from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Following the drivers' meeting, the kids took to the track for their races at 5:00 p.m. before the night's racing action got underway. Throughout the evening, young fans enjoyed bike giveaways and a variety of other kid-friendly activities, making it a memorable night for families in attendance.

A total of 63 cars signed in to tackle the 4/10-mile dirt oval. Fans were treated to an action-packed night filled with exciting racing from start to finish, with the final checkered flag waving at 7:49 p.m.

The first feature of the night belonged to the Matt's Tyre Service IMCA Sport Compacts, who contested a caution-free 10-lap main event. Charles Prime jumped out to the early lead but faced constant pressure from Brooke Osler and Rece Hayes. Hayes nearly wrestled the lead away from Prime on lap four, but as the two battled side-by-side, they left the door open for Osler. She capitalized on the opportunity, driving into the lead on lap five. From there, Osler held off repeated challenges from Prime and Hayes to score her first Sports Park Raceway feature victory. Prime finished second, while Carson Hayes edged out his brother, Rece, for third. Rece Hayes settled for fourth, and Josh Winegarden rounded out the top five.

Culver's of Carroll and Fort Dodge 4.6L Crown Vic 10-lap feature began with Nick Hogan jumping out to the early lead, while Nate Hogan settled into second. Nick Sawdy soon joined the battle at the front and took over the top spot on lap five. Sawdy appeared to be on his way to a comfortable victory, but Nate Hogan closed the gap in the closing laps. As the leaders raced to the checkered flag, the two made contact coming to the finish, sending Sawdy spinning across the finish line. Despite the dramatic finish, Sawdy was credited with his fourth Sports Park Raceway victory of the season. Nate Hogan crossed the line in second but was penalized two positions by race officials for rough driving, promoting Jim Hogan to the runner-up spot and Nick Hogan to third. Nate Hogan was officially scored fourth, while Cyle Marsh completed the top five.

Rex Jansonius led all 10 laps to capture the Pickett Salvage Vintage Cars feature in dominant fashion. Brent McClendon finished as the runner-up, followed by Phillip Abrahamson in third and Bill VanHauen in fourth. Josh McClendon ran as high as second before exiting the race on lap eight but was still credited with a fifth-place finish.

Brian Ashburn jumped out to the early lead in the 15-lap Pickett Salvage IMCA Hobby Stocks feature, with Drew Barglof settling into second. Behind them, pole sitter Tyler Pederson and Macon Robinson made contact in turn two while battling for position. Ashburn quickly built a comfortable advantage as Barglof found himself in a heated battle with Bryce Sommerfeld, Will Smith, Max Pogeler, Nathan DeRagon, and Jade Lange. The first caution flew on lap five when Robinson spun on the frontstretch after suffering a right-rear tire failure. Ashburn maintained the lead on the restart, but the race was slowed again on lap eight for debris in turn three and once more on lap 10 for debris in turn four. On the final restart, disaster struck for Ashburn as his car failed to fire, forcing him to the pit area with mechanical issues. Sommerfeld inherited the lead and never looked back, driving away to score his first Sports Park Raceway victory of the 2026 season. Lange finished second, DeRagon crossed the line in third, Barglof was fourth, and Smith rounded out the top five.

The 15-lap White Transfer & Storage IMCA Northern SportMod feature began with Otho's Jeremiah Reed leading the opening lap. Kamdyn Haggard quickly took command, driving past Reed for the lead on lap two before steadily pulling away from the field. Reed held onto the runner-up position for most of the race before pulling into the pit area with less than two laps remaining. That allowed Josh Blom of Sioux City to move into second, while Haggard cruised to his fourth Sports Park Raceway victory of the season with a commanding 8.344-second margin of victory. Blom finished second, Jacob Hanus crossed the line in third, Arizona's Crystal Hemphill claimed fourth, and Preston Bright completed the top five.

The 15-lap Marsh Concrete IMCA Stock Car feature got off to a rocky start, as the caution flag flew before the opening lap could be completed. Jamie Andreasen, Daniel Ayers, Tyler Pickett, Blaine Hanson, and Izaac Richter were involved in a multi-car incident in turn two. On the complete restart, Devin Tripp jumped out to the early lead, but another caution came out after the first lap was officially scored when Kyle Rose spun in turn two. The ensuing restart was also short-lived, as Heath Tulp, Scott Olson, and Rose tangled in turn four, bringing out yet another caution. Once the race settled in, Tripp put together a strong run and built a comfortable advantage before the final caution flew on lap 10 when Richter spun in turn three. On the restart, Tripp held off a late charge from points leader Ryan Roath to earn his first Sports Park Raceway victory of the season. Roath finished second, Daniel Ayers crossed the line in third, Tyler Pickett was fourth, and Blaine Hanson completed the top five.

The night's final feature belonged to the United Plant Services IMCA Modifieds, who closed out the program with a 15-lap main event. Andy Tiernan grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and quickly opened a comfortable advantage while Chaz Baca worked his way into second. As the laps clicked off, Baca steadily reeled in the leader, and a few small mistakes by Tiernan allowed him to close the gap. The race's only caution flew on lap nine when Robert Bennett came to a stop exiting turn two. On the restart, Baca wasted little time making his move, taking the lead from Tiernan and driving away to score his fifth Sports Park Raceway victory of the season. Tiernan finished as the runner-up, Robert Moore claimed third, Scott Bash crossed the line in fourth, and Bennett was credited with fifth.

I was running a tad behind so I did not get any pictures from the Autograph session before the races but did make sure to capture the moment of the kids rides, hot laps and heat races, and they are all posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman Facebook Page in a photo album titled Sports Park Raceway Kids Night presented by Kemna 8-2-26.
