Berry Double Down and Takes Two on Night 2 of the World Nationals

Hard to believe the 2023 racing season at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway has come to an end, its also hard to believe my first season back as announcer has come to an end. Honestly back in March, I had no idea if I would last all season announcing races in Marshalltown again but I survived and we will see what my future for 2024 brings because I really want to flag some races this fall or next year some where.

One hundred and nineteen cars signed in for Night 2 of the World Nationals, the Local UAW 893 Cliff Chambers Memorial Saturday Night Spectacular. Once again there was great racing action all night long as they were going two and three wide, running from top to the bottom on a fantastic racing surface. Racing action wrapped up around 10:35pm putting a bow on the racing season in Marshalltown.

First feature of the night was the Drury Automotive and Truck Repair IMCA Stock Cars 30 lap feature event. Austin Kaplan out wrestled pole sitter Dillon Solum for the race lead but that was short lived as Tom Berry Jr., driving the Dilly Bar Special took the top spot away on lap three. Berry started to pull away as Kaplan, Kaden Reynolds, Dallon Murty, Damon Murty and Solum battled behind him. The caution came out on lap 11 for Austin Schuring in turn four but that did not faze Berry as once again he started to pull away. However the caution came out again on lap 14 when Gage Neal spun in turn four. Two more cautions came out, Lap 19 for Leremy Jackson in turn three and then debris in turn two on lap 23. Berry hung on to take the $1,000 win and is qualified for the B&B Chassis All Star Invitational at next years Super Nationals. Dallon Murty finished second, Kaden Reynolds came across in third but was docked 2 spots for nose height infraction in tech moving Damon Murty to third. Austin Kaplan was credited for fourth and Reynolds in fifth.

A caution came out before a single lap was scored in the Rugged Radios IMCA Sport Mods 25 lap feature event when Scott Williams, Kyle Olson, Jenae Gustin, Craig Dorner, Tom Lathrop, Kyle Free and Ty Rogers on the front stretch. Todd Dykema led the first lap when the race did get rolling but Shane Paris took the top spot away on lap two. Paris remained out front until Matt Avila took the race lead away on lap 11. The caution came out on lap 14 for Curt Smeins and Michael Miller in turn four. Avila held off Jenae Gustin, Paris, Brayton Carter and Logan Anderson on the restart and led the final 11 laps to take the feature win. Paris came home second, Carter was third, Gustin in fourth and Anderson in fifth.

In the Tire Demon by Love Tap Fabrication 30 lap feature event, it was all Tom Berry Jr as he led from start-to-finish. Berry fought off Jake McBirnie before pulling away. The caution came out on lap five for Riley Simmons spinning in turn four. Berry got a great restart and checked out, not evening lap traffic would slow him down as he went on to win by a margin of 8.734 seconds. The win was $2,000 to win and qualified TBJ for the Fast Shafts All Star Invitational. Ethan Braaksma, Todd Shute, Cody Laney and Tripp Gaylord rounded out the top five.

Bryan Vannausdle led the first two laps of the Hy-Vee of Marshalltown IMCA Sport Compacts 15 lap feature event before last night's winner Cristian Grady took it away on lap three. Grady, Vannausdle and Blake Driscol went two and three wide for the top spot with Grady hanging on until two laps to go. Driscol was able to take the top spot away on lap 13 and went on to take the feature win. Grady finished second, Vannausdle was third, Mark Smith in fourth and Matt Miller in fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event and before a single lap was scored the caution came out twice, first one for Briar Kriegel in turn one and then Ray Hill spun off the back stretch. Dalton Weepie grabs the race lead but he slipped up just enough to allow Nebraska's Adam Wasserman take the top spot away on lap five. Weepie received pressure from Corey VanDerWilt for runner up spot. The caution came out again on lap six when Jim Ball Jr and Nic Shearer spin turn four. Three more cautions came out on lap nine, fourteen and eighteen but none was going to deny Wasserman the win. VanDerWilt, fourteenth place starter David McCalla, "Squishy" Solomon Bennett and Trenton Neuhaus rounded out the top five.

With the 2023 Racing Season at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway over, keep your eye out for information about the 2023 Racing Banquet and the 2024 Racing Schedule. It was announced that IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Mod Lites and IMCA Sport Compacts will all return for 2024. The Schedule is expected to be released around November 1st.

Ward, Murty, Carter, Irvine and Grady Win Night 1 of the World Nationals in Motown

After taking a week off for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals 41 fueled by Casey's at the Boone Speedway, the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway came back to life for the first of two nights during the World Nationals. Friday's Nights show was called J&M Fabrication Friday Night Lights.

One hundred-twenty six cars signed in to tame the high banked quarter mile on night one of the World Nationals, J&M Fabrication Friday Night Lights. The racing surface produced some great side-by-side racing action all night and saw some exciting finishes. The final checkered flag came out around 10:30pm.

First feature of the night was the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 30 lap feature event presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair. Dave Atcher led the opening lap but it was the "Chelsea Charger" Damon Murty took the lead away on lap two. Damon was followed by his son, Dallon Murty. Dallon Murty was able to take the lead away from his dad on lap four. The caution came out on lap 12 when Dru Kueker and Dustan Fenton in turn four. The following restart saw the caution come out again when Blake Lehman, Kylie Rawlins and Fenton get together. Damon Murty encountered some trouble on the restart and retired to the infield leaving his son Dallon to battle with Tom Berry Jr. The caution came out again on lap 13 but Dallon Murty held off Tom Berry Jr and Austin Kaplan on the restart and tried to pull away only to see Berry to chase him back down, Berry tried to take the top spot away prior to the caution on lap 22 when Brett Maasdam spun in turn three and four. Dallon Murty slipped up on the white flag lap allowing Berry to pull a haymaker slider but Murty was ready for it and out dueled Berry to the feature win worth $1,000 and making him qualified for the B&B Chassis All-Star Invitational at Super Nationals next year. Berry came home second, twenty-third place starter Kaden Reynolds was third, Kaplan came home in fourth and Gage Neal in fifth.

Logan Anderson grabbed the lead early in the Rugged Radios IMCA Sport Mods 25 lap feature event ahead of "Speedy Bray" Brayton Carter. Anderson paced the field and pulled away as the battle for second on back. Anderson pulled away until lap traffic allowed Carter to reel him back in. The caution came out on lap 14 for Josalyn Elmquist in turn two. Anderson held of Carter, Kyle Olson, Ben Chapman, Matt Avila and Jenae Gustin on the restart. Carter was able to take advantage of a slip up by Anderson to take the race lead away on lap 18. On lap 20, the caution came out when Avila and Olson got together in turn two resulting Avila to get the black flag. Restart saw a caution for debris on the front-stretch. Carter held on to take the feature win ahead of Ben Chapman, Cam Reimers, Anderson and Gustin.

Up next was the Tire Demon by Love Tap Fabrication IMCA Modifieds 30 lap feature event, it was "T-Dub" Tim Ward grabbing the race lead and holding off Dylan Thornton and Tom Berry Jr early. Ward pulled away and only thing slowing him down was race cautions. The first caution on lap seven for Maguire DeJong in turn two, the following restart for DeJong and Zack Rawlins in turn four, debris caution on lap 21 and when Izac Mallicoat and Garrett Wilson spun in turn two. Ward claimed the win with Berry finishing runner-up, Todd Shute was third, Thornton in fourth and sixteenth place starter Joel Rust in fifth.

Cristan Grady led all fifteen laps of the Hy-Vee of Marshalltown IMCA Sport Compacts. Grady fended off Spencer Roggentien early and Blake Driscol the rest of the way to take the feature win. Driscol finished second, Mark Smith came home in third on his first night out in 2023. Bryan Vannausdle and Roggentien finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Final feature of the night was the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event. David McCalla grab the race lead and held off Trenton Neuhaus and Jake Nelson until the caution came out on lap seven for Brayden Fahrni in turn two. McCalla continued to lead as they were going four wide behind him, one of those drivers was Benji Irvine. Irvine was able to wrestle the lead away from McCalla on lap eleven. Irvine started to pull away but the caution came out on lap 18 when Carl Ellis in turn two. Irvine held on to take the feature win. Seventh place starter Joren Fisher, tenth place starter Calvin Dhondt, McCalla and track champion Corey VanDerWilt rounded out the top five.

Friday Night the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway hosted the Karl of Marshalltown Showdown in Motown. One Hundred-thirty four cars signed in from 19 different states and one Canadian province to tame the high banks. States represented in Marshalltown was Iowa, California, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Texas, Nevada, Nebraska, Utah, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas, Minnesota, Indiana, Florida, New York and Kentucky with Saskatchewan representing the 1 Canadian province.

The racing was exciting and intense leaving fans excited as they were going two, three and four wide. Late race cautions in most of the features produced exciting finishes. Modifieds was a Fast Shaft All Star Invitational Qualifier and the Stock Cars was a B&B Chassis All Star Invitational Qualifier, the final attempt for drivers to become eligible for the upcoming events at the Super Nationals in Boone. Racing action came to an end at 10:59 pm allowing several to get on the road for Boone.

First feature of the night was the 15 lap Stealth Racing IMCA Stars Mod Lites presented by Knight Sanitation feature event and before a single lap was scored in books the caution came out when Brad Harris in turn two. Illinois's Jon Padilla out dueled Florida's Ben Blalock for the race lead, shortly after lap one scored the caution came out when Riley Clem spun in turn three. Padilla flexed his muscles and showed why he will be a top contender in Boone as he fended off RJ Gonzales several times. Padilla went on to capture the feature win ahead of Gonzales, Joel Huggins, Jason Masengarb and Josh May.

Tyler Bannister from California led the first three laps of the Friesen Performance IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature event presented by Rugged Radios. Jenae Gustin, hometown favorite, was able to take the top spot away and never looked back. Gustin claimed the feature win. "Speedy Bray" Brayton Carter worked his way from eighth to second. Tyler Bannister was third, Jason Bannister was fourth and tenth place starter Logan Anderson was fifth.

Before a single lap was scored in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars 25 lap feature event presented by Drury Automotive & Truck Repair, the caution came out when Jerry Flippo, Austin VanHoff and Dustan Fenton got together in turn four. California's Troy Fougler took the race lead early but received heavy pressure from Nebraska's Jeff Ware. Ware was able to take the top spot away on lap four. The caution came out on lap five, VanHoff spins on the front stretch with a broken front end. Ware held off Fougler, Jake McBirnie and Damon Murty until the caution came out on lap 13 when Rick Diaz went off the top of turn two. McBirnie applied pressure on the restart and took the lead away on lap 16. McBirnie received pressure from Murty and Todd Reitzler after they worked into second and the third. The cautions came out on lap 20 for Austin Kaplan going off turn three and then on lap 23 when Dylan Schriner spun in turn two. McBirnie held off every challenge and took the feature win. Murty came home in second. Reitzler came across in third but was disqualified in post race tech for weight jack bolt placement so that moves up Jeff Ware to third. Garrett Corn and Tommy Fain was fourth and fifth respectively.

Cody Laney lead from start to finish in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds 25 lap feature event presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap. Laney had almost a five second lead over second place until a pair of cautions on lap 22. The first caution was for Ayden Steffans in turn two. On the restart, Buddy Kniss, Mitchell Hunt, Rod Clement and Andrew Pearce got together exiting turn four. Laney was not fazed and capture the feature win. Joel Rust applied pressure on the restart but came home in second. Tripp Gaylord, Ricky Alvarado and Troy Foulger rounded out the top five.

The initial start of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature event presented by Big 8 Tyre Center was called back. Nebraska's Tristan Grape jumped out to the race lead and started to pull away meanwhile David Norquest and Derrick McNeece battled behind him. Grape looked strong out front before and after the cautions. The first caution came out on lap five for Ethan Dirks and then on lap seven for Brayden Fahrni in turn two. Grape remained strong but a caution on lap 13 for Ben Newhouse in turn two forced a green-white-checkered finish. Grape held off twelfth place starter Eric Knutson to take the feature win. Knutson came home second, David McCalla ran in the top five entire way and came home third. Zach McNeese and eleventh place starter Tucker Richardson was fourth and fifth.

Just like the feature proceeding the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts 15 lap feature presented by Hy-Vee of Marshalltown, the initial start was called back. Mitchell Bielenberg led the first three laps but the caution came out on lap three for Bryce Bartel spinning in turn two. Jake Durbin Memorial Suicide Awareness Night, Season Champions and Hall of Fame filled Fever Heat Classic at Stuart

On Thursday Night, I headed to the Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway for the Fever Heat Classic presented by Bob Harris Enterprises. It was also Season Championship Night along with the Jake Durbin Memorial Suicide Awareness Night. If you are thinking about taking your own life call the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline before you do by simply pressing 988 in your phone.

As many drivers are rolling into Iowa for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals 41 Fueled by Casey's at the Boone Speedway, The Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway looked to cash in some of those visitors with their Fever Heat Classic presented by Bob Harris Enterprises. It was a beautiful night of racing under a full moon, as the month of August came to an end. Final checkered flag was displayed at 9:39pm.

At Intermission, the 2023 Stuart Speedway Hall of Fame Class was Inducted into the Stuart Speedway Hall of Fame. This year's inductees was Richard "Bones" Welch, Rex Parkison, Jack Gyles and Dave Baugh. Bones was a long time track official and drove the water truck and would do just about anything you needed done at the track, he lost his life doing things he loved. "Sexy" Rex Parkison, Jack Gyles and Dave Baugh all raced at the Stuart Speedway.

First feature of the night was the Hawkeye Auto Salvage IMCA Sport Compacts fourteen lap feature event. Texas' Randy Martin led the first 8 laps before Track Champion Kolby Sabin was able to apply pressure. Sabin used the high lane to get by Martin, who was on the bottom side. Sabin was able to grab the lead and pull away going on to take his eight win at Stuart this season. Martin came home second, Nebraska's Anthony Simants, Craig Furstenau and Calle Gaston was third through fifth respectively.

Arizona's Ty Rogers out dueled "Too Cool" Taylor Kuehl for the race lead in the Karl Chevrolet of Stuart IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature event. Kuehl was able to steal the lead away from Rogers just before the caution came out on lap five when Anthony Goldsberry and Chester Kniss spun in turn four. Kuehl fended of Rogers on the restart but the caution came out again on lap six for Adam Baker in turn four. Kuhel got a great restart and pulled away from Rogers until two more cautions late. The first caution on lap 17 for debris in turn one and then for Mike Dullard spinning in turn one. Kuehl was able to hang on and take her third feature win in Stuart. Devyn Peterson, David Schwartz, seventeenth place starter Brayton Carter and Mitchell Morris was second through fifth. Mitchell Morris claimed his first ever track championship.

In the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" Affordable Quality Roofing & Exteriors IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature event, it was Josh Daniels taking the top spot early fending off Jake Sachau. The caution came out on lap two for debris on the back stretch. Daniels engaged in a battle with Sachau as Tom Berry Jr was working his way through the field. As Daniels and Sachau was side by side they left an opening in the middle and Berry took advantage to get by both of them. Berry went on to take the feature win qualifying him for the B&B Chassis All Star Invitational at Super Nationals. Sachau, Josh Daniels, Brock Badger and Brandon Pruitt rounded out the top five. Austin Bouzek was the 2023 track champion.

Todd Shute was definitely "Toddzilla" in the VIP Contractors IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event, as he led from start to finish to victory, Shute was already qualified for the Fast Shaft All Star Invitational. The only thing slowing Shute down was the caution on lap 15 when Scott Bash spun in turn three. Shute took the win ahead of Zack VanderBeek, Jesse Dennis, Josh Gilman and Martin Bennett.

Rick's Towing & Transport IMCA Hobby Stocks 16 lap feature event saw Payce Herrera, 14 year old driver from Price, Utah leading from-to-finish to take his first ever IMCA Feature win. The feature went caution free. Solomon Bennett ran in the runner up spot, Skylar Pruitt was third, Buddy Haidsiak was fourth and Travis Cavin was fifth. Pruitt took the 2023 track championship.

Final feature of the night was the Outlaw Mini Mods 15 lap feature event. Spencer Nelson led the opening lap but the caution came out shortly after when he spun in turn two, collecting Troy Ihrke. Chase Daniels inherited the lead and tried to pull away but the caution came on lap four when Bobby Daniels and Joel Roberts in turn four. More cautions came out on lap nine when Kaden Rice spun in turn four and then on lap 11 when Megan Daniels spun in turn two. Chase Daniels went on to take the feature win ahead of Bobby Daniels, Justin Winkler, Zachary Dunham and Lucas Daniels.

Walk Off Ending to the 2023 Season at Warren County Speedway

So Friday night I was asked if I was planning to head to Warren County Speedway for the Little League Night / Season Championships because they may need me to fill in if their primary announcer could not make it because of work. I said yes I had planned on it so I prepared to take pictures or announce if needed.

Once it was known I was not needed to announce races, it meant I was prepared to take pictures instead so I ended up taking almost 600 pictures in hot laps and heat races before putting the camera away to keep notes during the feature. All pictures are posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman Facebook Page in a photo album called Warren County Little League Night / Season Championships 8-26-23

It was a beautiful cool night compared to the rest of the week for the 2023 season to walk off on in the sunset at the Warren County Speedway. The track showed character but a large part of that was due to the extremely high humidity all week, Brandan Long and the crew worked it in and it made for some fantastic racing. Final checkered flag came out at 10:22pm.

First feature of the night was the Micro Sprints 20 lap feature event, The Initial start called back as Brady Edwards stalled in turn two. On the restart, Brantley "The Bullet" Tjaden grabbed the top spot and pulled away from the rest of the field and appeared to be heading on to take the win. Tjaden caught lap traffic and unfortunately on lap 15, Tjaden rolled in turn four after encounter a lap car and tractor tire. That gave the lead over to Travis Rewerts and he would hang to take his third win at Warren County this season. Luke Lane came home in second, Jackson Gray was third, Matt Botts in fourth and Derrike Clark in fifth. With Tjaden going out on lap 15 and falling back to a tenth place finish, that allowed Lane to take the track championship by 5 points.

The caution came out as they was a parking lot in turn one and two of the TruBank Cruisers 16 lap feature event. Jason and Clay Collins took the race lead on the restart and managed to lead from start-to-finish to claim their second win of the season. Chris and Shelbie Mitchell was second, Will Aldridge and Co-Driver was third, Will Shivers and Travis Shivers was fourth, Isaac Seger and Co-Driver was fifth. Chris and Shelbie Mitchell would take the 2023 track championship.

Next up was the DeYarman Ford Junior Front Wheel Drive 15 lap feature event and before a lap was scored the caution came out when a chain reaction that resulted in Emberli Van Clark spinning around in turn two. Gabriel Hoover out wrestled Wyatt Routh for the race lead early. The caution came out again on lap four for debris in turn two and then again on the restart for Julia Langille in turn two. Hoover was determined to not be denied the victory as he hit his marks and went on to take his second win at Warren County. Katelynn Watts made a strong surge but came home with a second place finish, Van Clark came back to finish third, Langille in fourth and Routh was fifth. Watts claimed the 2023 track championship

The pattern continue with the caution coming out before a single lap scored in the eighteen lap Williams Machine Shop Open Figure 8 feature when Aubrey McKasson and David Burnell spun under the flag stand. Dylan McKasson jumped out to the race lead on the following restart after out dueling his sister Aubrey McKasson. The caution came out again on lap three when Colton Wicker came to a stop in the figure eight. Dylan McKasson got a great restart and fended off a challenge from David Burnell until the caution came out on lap 11 for heavy smoke coming out of Casey McKasson hot rod. Burnell got by Dylan McKasson on the restart and went on to take his six feature win of the season. Dylan McKasson finished second, Aubrey McKasson was third, Casey McKasson in fourth and Colton Wicker in fifth. Burnell was the 2023 track champion.

The caution came out before a single lap was completed in the 16 lap Bussanmas Heating & Cooling Stock Figure 8 feature event when J Milton Tarter Jr broke the front end after clipping a infield tire. Joey Young got a great restart and fended off Chris Mitchell, Young pulled away however lap traffic late in the race allowed Mitchell to get to the back bumper of Young. Young held on to take his fifth win of the season in Indy. Mitchell, Brock Bush, Joe Grubbs and Seth Parker rounded out the top five.

Mitchell and Bush tied for the 2023 track championship in the Stock Figure 8. So unofficially, If they use a similar tiebreaking procedures it goes down by finishes. Both of them had 1 feature win so then you move on to second place finishes, that goes to Mitchell as he had five with Bush having 1. So unofficially the 2023 track champion is Chris Mitchell.

Matt Breeden took the race lead early in the Phillips's Floor Trucks 18 lap feature event. The first caution came out on lap four for debris from Robby Dittmer in turn tone and two as Travis Shivers had a flat tire. Breeden continued to lead until the caution came out again on lap seven for Dittmer slowing in turn three and four. The following restart saw the caution come out again when Clay Collins pulled out of line and Joe Graves nose cover came off. Cole Becker would Intimidate his way around Breeden on the restart and never look back going on to claim his third win of the season. Breeden, Cole Edgington, Collins and Graves round out the top five. Breeden took the 2023 track championship.

Hawkeye Auto Salvage Hobby Stocks 16 lap feature event saw Michael Eddinger fend off Garrett Croy and Travis Fenton early for the restart. Eddinger pulled away only to see the cautions come out on lap seven when Kylea Ren was spun in turn one by Taylor Wood. Eddinger fended off the challenges on the restart but shortly after a lap was scored the caution came out when Braelynn Long spun in turn two. Eddinger was determined to take the win and he held on to claim his first of the season in Indy. Croy finished second, Fenton came home third, Jason Collins was fourth and Blake McCann was fifth. Croy won the 2023 Track championship.

Final feature of the night was the Front Wheel Drive 16 lap feature event, Terry Bickford jumped out to the race lead and pulled away until the caution came out on lap six for Cody Howe stopping in turn four. Bickford got a great restart and the caution came out again on lap nine for Jerry Glass. Bickford held on to claim his fifth feature win and that also gave him the 2023 track championship. Michael Gardner, Michael Gardner III, Colbin Funke and Matt Pool rounded out the top five.

That puts a wrap on the 2023 Racing Season at the Warren County Speedway in Indianola. So be on the look out in the off season for the 2024 racing schedule.

Murty Family Affair In Victory Lane and Gustin Gets Redemption During the Showdown Shakedown in Motown

The Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway wrapped up track points in all classes except the Mod Lites last week so this week was the IMCA Mod Lite Championship Event. It was also the Iowa's Best Country KIX101.1 / KFJB 1230 AM 93.9 FM Showdown Shakedown in Motown since the rain date for season championship night was not needed, it became a draw/redraw special.

A total of eighty-six cars including eight outlaw cruisers checked into tame the high banks of the Marshalltown Speedway for the Showdown Shakedown in Motown. The racing action did not disappoint as during the features they went two, three and sometimes four or five wide on the night. Racing action started later than normal to avoid the final day of the heat wave, the first green was a little after 8pm and the final checkered flag was displayed at 10:18pm.

First feature of the night was the Knight Sanitation IMCA Mod Lites 15 lap Championship feature event for track points. Darrick Knutsen jumped out to the race lead and fend off pressure from Cory Sonner. Knutsen held the top spot until lap seven when Jon Padilla worked his way through the field to take the top spot away. Padilla was able to hold on and take his fourth win in Motown. Sonner finished second, Josh May finished third, Joe Glick was fourth and Brandon Freeburg was fifth. May clinched the track championship.

Brady Hilmer grabbed the race lead early in the Rugged Radios IMCA Sport Mods 18 lap feature event from the pole position. That was short lived as Logan Anderson took the top spot away on lap three. The only race caution came out on lap five when Carter VanDenBerg came to a stop in turn four. Anderson held off Jenae Gustin and Hilmer temporarily because Gustin was able to claim the top spot away on lap ten. Gustin was able to pull away and get redemption after losing last week's feature, for Gustin that was win number four in Motown this season. Anderson, Hilmer, Brayton Carter and Joe Docekal rounded out the top five.

In the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" IMCA Stock Cars presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair 20 lap feature event, it was Terry "Scooter" Dulin leading the first two laps. The "Chelsea Charger" Damon Murty took the top spot away on lap three and never looked back going on to claim his third win in Motown. Jake Sachau tried to make a late race challenge on Murty but ran out of time and settled for second. Dave Atcher came home in third, Todd Reitzler was fourth and Austin Kaplan was fifth.

Dallon Murty led from start to finish in the 20 lap Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Modified feature event. After fending off Charlie Mohr and Dylan Thornton, Murty pulled away until cautions came on lap nine for Austin Mehmen in turn two. Murty had to contend with Joel Rust following that caution, he was able to fend him off until Rust was able to make the move before lap 16 was scored the caution came out for Kyle Roose in turn one, that gave Murty back the lead. Murty held off the pressure from Rust to claim his first win in Motown this season. Rust came up short and finished second. Mohr, Thornton and Paul Nagle rounded out the top five.

Last week, Corey VanDerWilt claimed the 2023 Track Championship, this week he lead thirteen of the fifteen laps of the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks, this was the first win of the season for VanDerWilt in Motown this season. Eric Knutson was able to lead laps eight and nine before VanDerWilt regained it on lap ten. Knutson settled for second, Bradly Graham was third, Brett Maasdam in fourth and Logan Andrews in fifth.

James Haring led the first three laps of the Hy-Vee of Marshalltown IMCA Sport Compacts 15 lap feature event before Kolby Sabin was able take the top spot away. Sabin looked to be heading on to take the feature win but Devin Jones worked his way from seventh. Jones applied pressure on Sabin as they encountered lap traffic, Jones was able to make the move and take the top spot away on lap 14. Jones took the feature win ahead of Sabin, James Haring, Stephen Randall and Korey Lana.

Final feature of the night was the 15 lap Outlaw 2 Man Cruiser feature event. Corey VanDerWilt and Brett Maasdam nicknamed Thunder and Lightening jumped out to the race lead. VanDerWilt / Maasdam was never really challenged until a lap car slowed them up allowing the father and son team of Jerome and Preston Kline was able to catch. VanDerWilt and Maasdam went on to take the feature win. Kline / Kline was second, Kerry Davis / Corey Davis was third, Ray Hill / Austin Schuring was fourth and Jacob Lehman / Laverne Lehman was fifth.
