It was supposed to be the fifth and final night, but the tour was unable to get four nights in at Worthington, Spencer, Park Jefferson, and Stuart. Buena Vista Raceway in Alta rained out. One hundred and twenty-eight cars signed in to see if they could put their names in the history books.
Mike Van Genderen and the track crew produced a fantastic racing surface that created exciting racing action all night. Jeff Kropf did amazingly up on the flag stand; Tony Paris and PJ Pedersen did an amazing job announcing. I guess that Jamie Songer guy did good with the victory lane and champion interviews. The final checkered flag waved at 10:18 pm, meaning by the time I got out of there and fought on-and-off heavy downpours on the way home, I pulled into my driveway at 12:05 am.
The first feature of the night was the Hawkeye Auto IMCA Sport Compacts 15-lap event presented by Culver's of Carroll and Fort Dodge. Beatrice, Nebraska racer Johnny Thomas and Des Moines' Michael Gardner led the field to the green flag. Thomas jumped out to the race lead right away and was followed by Stuart's Tyler Fiebelkorn. Corbin Funke worked his way from tenth to second by lap five. Thomas looked strong and led all 15 caution-free laps to take win number two of the year in Stuart. Funke made several attempts to get past Thomas but came up short and hung on to finish second. Fiebelkorn was third, Gardner fell back to fourth and Daniel Clayton was fifth. Tyler Thompson finished tenth, but that was just enough to win the Midwest Madness Tour Champion Crown by 4 points over Fiebelkorn.
Matt Avila jumped out to the early race lead in the Karl Chevrolet of Stuart IMCA Northern Sport Mods 22-lap feature presented by Spices Galore! Tommy Tanner ran second in the early going. The first caution came out on lap two when BJ Charlson and Preston Bright spun in turn four. Avila fended off Tanner and Martin Bennett on the restart. The caution came out two more times, both on lap six: first for Mitchell Morris in the turn two wall after contact from David Schwartz and then on the restart when Brett Vanderheiden, Matt Morrow, Josalyn Elmquist, Joe Feyen, Austin Hardisty, and Mike Dullard got together on the front stretch. Avila lost the lead briefly on lap eight when Bennett was able to take it away, but that was short-lived as Avila got back by and cruised on to take win number two in Stuart. Eleventh-place starter Caleb Woodard, Willy Kirk, Cam Reimers, and Bennett rounded out the top five. Kirk was named the 2026 Midwest Madness Tour Champion by beating Reimers by 7 points.
The Class Too Tough To Tame Diversified Towing & Recovery IMCA Stock Cars for their 25-lap feature event presented by B&B Chassis. Sioux City's Greg Peck started fourth, but by the end of lap one, he had gotten by front-row starters Chris Pruitt and Ryan Grochow to lead the race. Shortly after the caution came out for debris in turn two. Peck held the top spot until "Buck Wild" Buck Schafroth worked his way from eighth to second; Schafroth took the lead away on lap 11. The caution came out on lap 15 for Dillon Solum, and then the final caution came out on lap 16 for Mike Hansen spinning in turn four along with debris. Schafroth led the final nine laps and went on to capture win number three. Damon Murty got within a car length but couldn't get by Buck, so he managed to finish second. Peck finished third, and that allowed him to capture the Midwest Madness Tour Champion crown by 6 points. Todd VanEaton finished fourth and was the Midwest Madness Tour runner-up. Mike Albertsen was fifth.
Before a single lap was completed in the Rick's Towing & Transport IMCA Hobby Stocks 20-lap feature event presented by Road Rage Bike Works, there was a caution. It came out when Nathan Ashe was spinning on the front stretch. When the race got going, it was Sioux Rapids' Korbin White grabbing the race lead, but he was flanked by Kael Koch from Marshalltown. Koch managed to capture the race lead on lap seven and looked as if he were going to get the win, but thirteenth-place starter Tom Killen Jr. had other plans as he worked his way through the field. Killen began to challenge Koch and would manage to take the lead over on lap 15. Killen held on to capture win number two. Koch finished second, Kaylb Brunssen was third, Dylan Nelson was fourth, and White was fifth. Brunssen took the Midwest Madness Tour Crown.
The final feature of the night was the Diversified Sales & Service IMCA Modifieds 25-lap event presented by DCS Underground of Hays, Kansas. Todd Shute outwrestled Owen Barnhill for the race lead at the drop of the green. Hays, Kansas, and defending Midwest Madness Tour Champion Dakota Sproul worked his way into second. Shute looked strong and pulled away, but when lap traffic began to get heavy, Drew Janssen and Sproul reeled in Shute. Janssen was able to capture the top spot on lap 22 and lead the remaining laps to capture the feature win. Sproul came home second, allowing him to capture the Midwest Madness Tour crown. Shute, Chaz Baca Jr., and Izac Mallicoat rounded out the top five.
