Car Show and Practice This Weekend in Marshalltown

This Weekend will be fun filled for the Marshalltown Speedway as the 2010 Racing Season gets underway unofficially with the Annual Car Show at the Marshall Town Center. The Race Cars entered the Mall at 9p on Thursday when the Mall Closed and the fun began getting all the race cars in the mall.

I took pictures of the cars as they entered the mall and as they were getting put in place and you can check them out at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=211250&id=502511214. I will take some more pictures of the cars at the mall this weekend.

The cars are on display Friday 10a-9p, Saturday 10a-8p and Sunday Noon-5p and then its off to the race track for the practice session from 5-8p where Grandstands are Free, Pit Pass $25. Pictures will also be taken at the practice as well on Sunday.

2010 Racing Season Schedules!

Well have finally arrived to the racing season to begin here in the upper midwest and as promotors are eager to get ready just as the drivers are. The snow is melting but rain starts coming and that brings spring flooding but lets not hope we have what happen in 2008 here in 2010.

But lets not talk about the weather lets talk about racing now so here is the race track schedule notes.

Buena Vista Raceway "The Beaver" will start racing action on Wednesday Night May 5th. Special events at the Beaver is the USMTS "Battle at the Beaver" on Wednesday June 16th and Kyle Suter Memorial Great American Shootout on Tuesday June 29th.

Southern Iowa Speedway will start racing action on Wednesday Night May 12th. Special Events include Stock Car Special on May 19, 9th Annual Spring Challenge for the USMTS on May 26, Hobby Stock Special on June 2, B-Mod Special on June 9, O'Reilly MARS DIRTcar Series on July 1, Deery Brothers Summer Series on July 21, Front Row Challenge on August 9, Ultimate Challenge on August 10, 7th Annual Southern Iowa Challenge for USMTS on September 1, 24th Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge on October 8 & 9.

Hancock County Speedway moves to thursday nights in 2010 and will begin racing action on Thursday May 20 with the 305 Sprints also on the card. The 305 Sprints will also race May 27 and June 10 in Britt. Special Events include IMCA Stock Car Special on June 3, IMCA Hobby Stock Special on June 24, IMCA Sport Mod Firecracker Special on July 1 and on Tuesday Night July 27 during the Hancock County Fair, 16th Annual Night of 1000 Stars for IMCA Modifieds (Hawkeye Dirt Tour Race), 7th Annual Iowa Summer Challenge for USMTS on August 19. IMCA Modifieds will also join the program on July 8, July 15, July 27 and August 5.

Clay County Speedway on the Clay County Fairgrounds is back with a limited scheduled, they will race on off nights at the Hancock County Speedway. Dates of Racing at Clay County are June 17, July 22, August 19, September 19 (Sunday-Clay County Fair). Special races include ASCS Sprints on Friday July 9 and World Of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Friday September 17.

Algona Raceway in Algona, IA will open its season on April 3. The special events in Algona will be the USMTS at the Kossuth County Fair on August 3, Kossuth County Fair and Hall of Fame Night on August 7 and the Hunter Hope Foundation Fall Special on September 25.

Calhoun County Speedway in Rockwell City, IA expanded their track from a 1/5 mile race track to a 1/4 mile race track this year plus have their normal figure 8 racing schedule. The Cirle Track has 10 race nights and will run Thursday Nights beginning May 13 and also run on May 27, June 10, June 24, July 8, July 29, August 5, August 26, September 16, September 23. Figure 8 Racing will happen on Saturday Nights beginning June 12 and also run on July 10, July 31, August 14, September 4 and September 18.

Cresco Speedway in Cresco, IA will return back into the hands of the Mighty Howard County Fairboard and its Race Committee to be in charge for the 2010 Racing Season after the contract ended with the previous promoter and no new promoter was hired to be in charge so in 2010 they will run a limited schedule. Cresco will run races on Thursday May 13 with the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Tour plus Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, B-Mods/Sport Mods, Sunday June 13 with $1000 to win Hobby Stocks plus 4 Cylinder Hornets, Stock Cars, B-Mods/Sport Mods, Thursday June 24 with the Mighty Howard County Fair featuring the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds plus Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars, B-Mods/Sport Mods, Sunday July 18 with $1000 to win Stock Cars plus 4 Cylinder Hornets, Hobby Stocks, B-Mods/Sport Mods, The USMTS return on Wednesday August 4 with support classes to be announced and Sunday September 5 with $1000 to win B-Mods/Sport Mods plus 4 Cylinder Hornets, Hobby Stocks, Stock Cars and Modifieds. They will also have a Enduro on Sunday June 26 a part of the Mighty Howard County Fair.

Marshalltown Speedway "What Friday Nights are Made For" will get its season started with the Marshall Town Center Car Show on March 26-28 followed by a Practice. Racing action begins on April 2 with The Tri-County Heating S&B Trailers Frostbuster while track points will open track points on April 9. Other special events will include Cliff Chamber Memorial on May 14, Deery Brothers Summer Series on May 18, Great American Stock Car Shootout on June 28, Budweiser Showdown at Mo'town on July 9, USMTS returns on August 31st, Larry Wollam Season Championships on September 3, 4th Annual Havoc on the High Banks (Hawkeye Dirt Tour Races) on September 17 & 18.

Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway will get its season under way on April 3, IMCA Late Models Season Opener will be on April 24. Special Events will include the USMTS on Friday June 18th (NO Late Models), Deery Brothers Summer Series at the Iowa State Fair on August 16.

Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, IA season will start with the Car Show Riverside Casino & Golf Resort on April 3, Racing action will begin on April 9. Special events include Corn Belt Clash Late Models on Tuesday May 25, Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders at the Cedar County Fair on July 15, Cedar County Fair Races on July 16.

CJ Speedway in Columbus Junction, IA on the Louisa County Fairgrounds will have its season start on Friday April 23 and race every friday night through September 3 but will have some specials. The specials will include Sprint Invaders on May 28, Firecracker 25 for IMCA Stock Cars on July 2, Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series on July 29, Sprint Invaders on September 3.

Davenport Speedway will begin its season on April 9 with a practice but racing action begins April 16 with the Deery Brothers Summer Series, track points begins on April 23.

Jackson County Speedway will begin its season on April 3 with a Car Show, Practice on April 10 and Racing action gets under way on April 17 with the Deery Brothers Summer Series, track points begin on April 24.

Farley Speedway in Farley will begin its season April 30 with a Banner Valley May Day 2 Track Classic. Corn Belt Clash Late Models make apperarance on May 7, Tornado Tuesday Special on June 15, Tornado Tuesday on July 13, Deery Brothers Summer Series Tornado Tuesday Special on August 3, 33rd Annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic on September 15-18 are among the Specials.

West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty will begin its season on April 17 with Sperry Engines Spring Championships. Banner Valley May Day 2 Track Classic on May 1, Modified Special on July 17, Muscatine County Fair Races on July 24, Tornado Tuesday Special on August 10, Liberty 100 on September 24 & 25 are among the specials.

The Dubuque Speedway on the Dubuque County Fairgrounds will begin its season on April 18 with Casey's General Stores Deery Brothers Summer Series Special. Other special events include Spring Championship on May 16, Dubuque County Fair Races on July 28 and August 1, Open Late Model Shootout on September 5.

Fayette County Speedway in West Union will return for its 2nd full season in 2010. Racing action will begin on Friday May 7 and run weekly through August 20. The specials include Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series on Wednesday June 9, Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds on Tuesday June 15, Fayette County Fair Races with the return appearance of the Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series on Tuesday July 27.

Upper Iowa Speedway "Saturday's Night Racing At It's Best!" will begin its racing season on Saturday May 1 and run through August 28. Special Events include the Winneshiek County Fair Races on Thursday July 8 and The Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds on Wednesday July 28.

Lee County Speedway in Donnellson will begin its racing season with a car show on April 10, Practice on April 16 and their first racing event will be on Saturday April 17 with The "Modified Smackdown" and Track Points will begin on Friday April 23. Track points will run through August 27. Other Specials include 3rd Annual Liberty Cup -Hawkeye Dirt Tour and Great American Stock Car Shootout on July 1, Sprint Invaders at the Lee County Fair on July 9, Deery Brothers Summer Series "Drive for Five" Finale on September 4, Sprint Invaders on September 25, Heartland Challenge on October 9, Shiverfest on October 24.

Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge will begin its racing season on April 30 and run every friday night through September 3. The Specials include USMTS on Wednesday on June 23 and Bruce Sommerfeld Memorial on September 24 & 25.

Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids season will start on Friday April 30 and run weekly through September 3. The ASA Midwest Tour Series will return on July 2.

34 Raceway in West Burlington get its racing action under way on April 3 with the Brian Hetrick Memorial for 305 Sprints, track points begin on April 24. Other big events include Brent Slocum Memorial 5o for Deery Brother Summer Series Late Models on April 10, Sprint Invaders Challenge on April 17, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on May 21, Sprint Invaders on May 29, USAC Non Wing & USAC Midgets Double Header Iowa Challenge on June 26, Firecracker 50 for IMCA Late Models on July 3, Sprint Invaders Night of Twins on August 21, Labor Day Weekend Sprint Shootout on September 4 or 5, 19th Annual Pepsi USA Late Model Nationals on September 17 & 18 and The Hawkeye Dirt Tour Season Finale on September 25.

Adams County Speedway begins on April 24 and runs every saturday night through September 11. Lucas Oil MLRA Late Models, NCRA Late Models and MARS DIRTcar Series will race on July 3, USMTS will race on August 21 and the 12th Annual The Tradition on September 25.

Boone Speedway "Home of the Supernationals" will begin its season with its Annual Frostbuster on April 3 with track points beginning April 10. Other Special Events include Memorial Day Special for Deery Brother Summer Series and the 28th Annual Speedway Motors Super Nationals on September 6 through 11.

Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City will begin its season on April 3 with its Frostbuster Special, Track points begin on April 17, Late Models begin track points on April 24. Some Specials this year include Summer Spectacular for IMCA Late Models on June 29, Thursday Night Thunder at the Hamilton County Fair on July 22, Hamilton County Fair Classic on July 24, USMTS returns to the 1/2 mile on August 18, Fall Challenge on October 1 & 2.

Independence Motor Speedway in Independence will begin its season with a car show and practice on April 10, Racing action begins on April 24 and runs every Saturday night through August 28. Specials include Modified Mayham at Indee (Hawkeye Dirt Tour) on May 11, Deery Brothers Summer Series and Great American Stock Car Shootout on June 30, Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series Buchanan County Fair Race on July 14, Dick Frye Memorial at the Buchanan County Fair on July 17.

Knoxville Raceway begins its racing season on May 1 and runs through September 4 on Saturday's. World of Outlaws Hall of Fame Classic on June 3, 4 & 5, Harris Clash on July 6, 7 & 8, 20th Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals on August 5 through 7, Casey's General Stores USAC Wingless 410 Knoxville Nationals, 50th Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals on August 11 through 14, Lucas Oil Later Models Nationals on September 30 through October 2.

Shelby County Speedway will begin its racing season on April 24 and run every saturday night through September 4. SLMR Late Models will make an apperance on June 12, Charlie Leuck Memorial at the Shelby County Fair on July 17, Dwight Wrich Memorial on August 7, Tiny Lund Memorial on September 16 through 18.

Echo Valley Speedway will return in 2010 as well but their schedule has not been released at the time of this blog.

Benton County Speedway in Vinton will get its season underway on April 4 with its West Edge Auto Salvage Frostbuster, Track points begin on April 11. Hogan Memorial will be on July 11, Benton County Fair Modified Madness on July 22, Benton County Fair Races on July 25 are also among the specials.

Stuart Speedway in Stuart will notice some new faces at the ownership and promotor line as Chuck Vanderheiden bought the track from Everett Sather this past winter and Chuck will also take over the Promotor role which was taken by Billy Davis. Their will be a Practice on April 18 to start the season off, Racing action begins on April 25 and run every sunday night through September 5. Ron Little Memorial on May 30 and Stock Car & Hobby Stock Special on September 19 are also on the schedule.

Highway 3 Raceway on the Butler County Fairgrounds in Allison, IA will be back with a limited schedule again in 2010. Highway 3 will open its action with a Members Only Practice on May 20, Racing action will begin on May 27 with the USMTS making a stop. Other races include the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series on June 10, Butler County Fair Races on June 22, 6th Annual Firecracker Special on July 1, July 22 Late Model Special, August 5 Late Model Special, USMTS return on September 2.

Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, IA gets it season underway on May 7 and race every week through August 20.

Sioux Speedway in Sioux Center, IA will race a limited schedule as well, the season begins with the 2nd Annual 9:1 Nationals on Thursday June 3. Sioux Couuty Youth Fair Event on July 13, Sioux Speedway Special on August 26, 2nd Annual Sioux Speedway Stock Car Nationals on September 23.

Bloomfield Speedway in Bloomfield, IA will be promoted by Ron & Jerry Potts again in 2010 and they will run Modifieds, B-Mods, Stock Car, Hobby Stocks and 4 Cylinders a part of the program. The Season gets underway on April 23 with Early Special. Other Race Nights are May 14, May 21, June 4, June 11, June 25, July 8 Sprint Invaders and B-Mods, July 9 Davis County Fair Races and July 23.

Eldon Raceway in Eldon, IA will race a limited Schedule as well in 2010. The dates planned to race are May 15, June 17, July 17, September 17 & 18.
