Eighty-three cars signed in for Wednesday night's special, taking on the 1/3-mile, semi-banked dirt oval located on the North Iowa Fairgrounds and promoted by Ryne, Todd, and Janet Staley. The field included 27 FloRacing Night in America Super Late Models, down from the 30 that competed at Marshalltown the night before. USRA B-Mods brought 32 cars, while 27 USRA Hobby Stocks also signed in. I’m not sure of the exact time, but it appears the final checkered flag waved around 10:30 p.m.
Following the heat races, Todd and the track-prep team decided to bring out the road grader to work in the pesky layer of dirt that simply refused to pack in. It turned out to be the right decision, as the track produced some fantastic feature racing throughout the night.

The Window World USRA B-Mods were first to the track for their 20-lap feature. After three heat races and one B-Feature narrowed the field to 28 starters, the green flag flew on the main event. Thirteen-year-old Miken Iverson, nicknamed "Mr. Excitement," wrestled the early lead away from Jackson Hale. The first caution came after lap one was completed when Ashton Pankow got crossed up on the frontstretch after experiencing what appeared to be a front-end issue. Iverson continued to lead, while Hale, Brayden Ahlers, and Oliver Sackett battled for position behind him. The next caution came on lap eight when Jayme Hiller spun in turn two. Iverson and Hale continued their battle for the lead, making slight contact in the process. The contact allowed Ahlers to capitalize and take over the top spot on lap 12. Ahlers' lead was short-lived, however, as the caution came out shortly afterward when Jeremiah Reed spun on the frontstretch, leaving Corbin Erickson with nowhere to go and resulting in contact. On the ensuing restart, a five-car incident broke out in turn two as Iverson and Hale again made contact. Iverson managed to work his way back around Ahlers on the restart and never looked back, driving on to capture the feature victory. Ben Moudry finished second, Ahlers crossed the line in third, Taylor Skauge was fourth, and Jake Richards rounded out the top five.
The field of 27 FloRacing Night in America Super Late Models was whittled down to 24 starters for the 50-lap Hoker Trucking feature, with a $20,000 payday on the line. Hudson O'Neal jumped out to the early lead, followed by Nick Hoffman, Brandon Sheppard, and Devin Moran. O'Neal looked strong out front in the opening laps, but Hoffman was able to take the lead on lap seven. Hoffman remained in command until the caution came out on lap nine when Tyler Erb slowed with a right-rear flat tire. Hoffman fended off O'Neal and Sheppard on the restart, but another caution came just after lap 20 was completed when Erb spun in turn four. O'Neal reclaimed the lead on the restart, dropping Hoffman back to second. Behind them, the battle for third heated up between Sheppard, Moran, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Bobby Pierce. As the laps wound down, O'Neal found himself dealing with heavy lapped traffic while Hoffman and Pierce closed in, both looking for an opportunity to steal the lead. O'Neal remained composed under pressure and held on to capture the $20,000 victory in the first-ever FloRacing Night in America Super Late Model visit to Mason City. The victory also provided redemption for O'Neal after a strong run slipped away from him at Motown on Tuesday night. Hoffman finished second, followed by Pierce, Thornton, Moran, Sheppard, Jason Feger, Dan Ebert, Kyle Bronson, and Erb to round out the top ten.
The final feature of the night belonged to the Busch Light USRA Hobby Stocks, with 20 laps on the schedule. Rylan Curtin and Jade Lange led the field to the green flag, with Curtin quickly jumping out to the early lead. Lange settled into second before Junior Boyer moved into the runner-up position, while Zac Smith worked his way into third. The first caution came on lap seven when Johnathon Hynes spun in turn two. Curtin handled the restart and continued to lead, appearing to be on his way to the feature victory. However, the caution flag flew again on lap 10 when Max Jones spun in turn four. Curtin remained determined to hold onto the top spot, but Zac Smith was just as determined to take it away. Smith made his move on lap 13, powering into the lead and pulling away from the field to capture the feature victory. Joshua Monson worked his way past Curtin to finish second, with Curtin settling for third. Parker Anderson finished fourth, and Boyer rounded out the top five.
Racing action continues at Mason City Motor Speedway, powered by Pritchard Family Auto Stores, on Sunday, August 23, with First Responders Night presented by Summit Fire Protection. USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks, and Outlaw Mini Mods will all be in action. Pit gates open at 3:00 p.m., grandstands open at 4:00 p.m., the pit meeting begins at 4:30 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 4:40 p.m., and racing gets underway at 5:00 p.m.
The season continues with Season Championship Night, presented by Canadian Pacific Kansas City, on Sunday, August 30. The Five Star Classic, Jon Tisor Memorial, and USRA Late Model Nationals are scheduled for October 16-17, followed by Cheater's Night on October 25.

Hoker Trucking Iowa Super Late Model Speedweek continues Friday and Saturday, August 21-22, at Maquoketa Speedway, featuring the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the Hawkeye 100. Brandon Sheppard enters the Maquoketa event with an eight-point lead over Hudson O'Neal in the Speedweek standings.
While Speedweek comes to an end at Maquoketa, the Super Late Model action in Iowa is far from over. Following the Hawkeye 100, the World of Outlaws will head to Southern Iowa Speedway on Wednesday, Adams County Speedway in Corning on Friday, and Shelby County Speedway in Harlan on Saturday for another weekend of exciting racing.
