Mohawks Dominate Bobcats Matmen

Mason City, Iowa (February 5th, 2016) - Mason City and Marshalltown duel was orignially scheduled for Tuesday night but was postponed because of mother nature and rescheduled for Friday Night. Mohawks dominated the Bobcats to take the final regular season duel 54-18.
After the duel began with an opening forfeit by the Cats at 132 pounds, Reese Hageman (138 lbs) followed up with a pinfall over Chris Harper just before the second period expired to tie the duel at 6-6 but the Mohawks took the next five matches. Lucas Deinhart beat Mitch O'Hare (145 lbs) by a 7-5 decision, eighth ranked Mac Spotts (152 lbs) won by forfeit, sixth ranked Jacob Carlson won by a 15-0 Tech Fall with 11 seconds to go in the third period over the Cats Jordan Fox (160 lbs).
Boston Draper pinned Chayton French (170 lbs) at 5:12, Isaac Bartel won in a Tiebreaker 4-3 over Josh Edel (182 lbs), Edel is ranked third at 170 but wrestled up Friday Night. Mohawks led the duel 29-12. Devan Mann (195 lbs) ended the Mohawks run with a pinfall on Logan Davis at 3:10. Mohawk's Hunter Miller won 220 pounds by Forfeit. Troy Monahan beat the Cat's Spencer Finch (285 lbs) by a 4-1 decison.
Zach Percy got a pinfall on Jacob Bitker at 106 lbs with less than second to go in the third period. Ryan Bitker responded with a pinfall at 113 lbs over Keegan Warner at 3:45. Mohawks took the last two matches of the duel with at 16-6 major decision by Caden Koerber over Keygan Hansen at 120 lbs and a pinfall by John Kraft over Zach Howell at 2:56. Mohawks took the duel 54-18.
Up next for the Bobcats wrestling team is the district tournament in Waverly next Saturday against Cedar Falls, Mason City, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Waterloo East, Waterloo West, Cedar Rapids Xavier and host Waverly-Shell Rock.
