Thanks For the Support.....Out Goes 2021, In Comes 2022

As 2021 comes to a close and we get ready to enter 2022, looking back at this past year truly showed its ups an downs for me mentally. I lost two people, my friend Tammy Stevens and my brother Jesse, who both meant the world to me.

After not announcing anywhere full-time in 2020, I had a few fill in at various tracks. I returned to being behind the microphone again in 2021 at the Independence Motor Speedway, thanks to Mick Trier and Justin Temeyer and I enjoyed having the microphone in my hand again but sometimes I felt mentally exhausted trying to prepare myself every week to announce races.

I even got to fill in one night on the flag stand at the Independence Motor Speedway and I had blast because that week I need it more mentally since earlier that week, I lost my younger brother Jesse. It allowed me to take my mind off it for a little while.

I continued to spend my off nights at the Brooklyn Raceway in Brooklyn. I helped out in 2020 and was excited Don and Shelley Wauters let me come back to lend a hand when I could in 2021. Most of the times was spend as an assistant scorer but one week, the plan was to go support a Softball tournament in my brother’s honor and then go to Independence, however after Independence rained out, my focus turned to going to Brooklyn and help score races. That turned into me being the head scorer for the night since their normal scorer was not feeling well, It was a very stressful night but again, Don and Shelley continue to support me for my willingness to jump into action.

In October I had chance to be a part of the Inaugural Battle at the Brooklyn Raceway for the Midwest Micro Series as an assistant flagman. I was incharge of the caution lights on Night 1 but on Night 2, I was promoted to head flagman since the other one was not feeling well. I had a blast flagging once again.

I attend other races in 2021 at Marshalltown Speedway, Sports Park Raceway, Kossuth County Speedway, Mason City Motor Speedway, Hamilton County Speedway, Keokuk County Expo, Stuart International Speedway and Boone Speedway. Many times I took pictures to relieve stress and help with my mental health.

One night in August, the night before I filled in as flagman in independence, was very special to me since earlier that day my brother was lied to rest, I decided to go to the Marshalltown Speedway and hang out with my support group and hang out with some friends. My buddy Jeff Wollam finally got that monkey off his back and got the win, the touching moment was when he asked for a picture of just me and him in victory lane.

What is in store for 2022, I  am not sure if Mick wants me back at Independence Motor Speedway because I honestly haven’t heard much from him since racing season.

I have a few offers on the table for the 2022 season : New Warren County Speedway Promoter Brandan Long has asked me to be their announcer, Midwest Micro Series has asked me to be their full time flagman (traveling to all their races and flagging their series races) & Brooklyn Raceway wants me to be the guy in charge of keeping the points updated and doing some other various stuff.

In January and February 2022,  I will be grabbing the microphone a few times as the PA Announcer for Marshalltown High School Wrestling Home Meets. I grabbed the microphone a few of times in 2021 during Allie Morrison Dual Tourney, JV Wrestling Tourney and Bobcat Hall of Fame Night.

What I want to do is announce and flag races in 2022. A dream of mine is to get the opportunity to do it for a big time special event race featuring a big time racing series, maybe sometime.

There is far too many people to thank for all their support in 2021, honestly I don’t know what I would do with out all you guys. Thanks for being there for me this year.

So stay tuned to what I decide to do for the 2022 season.

Hahne, Sorensen, Crimmins, Toftee, Clinton and Stahl Snag Up Fall Futurity Wins

There was a pair of options for racing action this weekend within in 2.5 hours, Calvin Meyer Fall Nationals at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri and 20th Annual Fall Futurity at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. This time of the year is hard because as Farmers wrap up Harvest season and hunting seasons beginning there is more deer on the loose. I made the decision to make the hour and 20 minute drive to the historic half mile for the Fall Futurity because of more four lane highways on the drive increase my chances of avoiding deer, as oppose to the 2.5 hour drive to Memphis, Missouri with a lot of two lane highways.

This was also my first visit to the Hamilton County Speedway in 2021, with working on Saturdays in Independence or Brooklyn, it was hard for me to make the trip up and I was glad I did because it was fantastic night despite being on the chilly side. I will try to make it down to the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri next year.

Originally it was scheduled to be two nights of racing at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City for the 20th Annual Fall Futurity, however mother nature had other plans as an early afternoon rain shower on Friday leaving the racing surface wet forced speedway officials to cancel Friday Night's show along with  early Saturday's Activities like the 1st Annual Candy Cornhole Tournament, BBQ Cook-Off, Pancake Breakfast and trick-or-treating for the youngsters. Racing on Saturday was still planned with the first green flag waiving at 5pm and the speedway added a live DJ in the Van Diest Building after the races for all fans and drivers to go to if they wanted something to do afterwards.

It was a beautiful day and night for racing on Saturday at the Hamilton County Speedway and the racing did not disappointed. One Hundred and sixteen cars checked in to race the 20th Annual Fall Futurity. The racing surface was nice and smooth and produced some fantastic racing all night long. The first green was right at 5pm, the last checkered flag was waived at 8:35pm meaning the races was completed in 3 hours and 35 minutes with the only pause between the heats and features to finish getting the lineups completed plus the final chuck a duck of the season.

Jason Hahne took the win in the Super Late Models powered by Jerry Goebel State Farm, Dustin Sorensen won in the Olsen Family USRA Modifieds. Other feature winners included : Bill Crimmins in the Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Cars, Brandon Toftee in Stein Heating & Cooling USRA B-Mods, Dylan Clinton in Diamond in the Rough USRA Hobby Stocks and Brad Stahl in the MyRacePass USRA Tuners.

First feature of the night was the Diamond in the Rough USRA Hobby Stocks 18 lap feature event. Fort Dodge's Danny Sassman Jr and Bryce Sommefeld led the field to the green flag with Sommerfeld grabbing the race lead on lap one. Carter Koop worked his way around both Sommerfeld and Sassman to take over the race lead on lap two. Sassman was not going away as he took over the top spot on lap four just prior to the first race caution. The caution was for Danny Ayers getting into the turn two wall. Sassman held on to the race until lap six when Dylan Clinton took over the race lead. Clinton started to pull away only to see the caution come out on lap nine for Chris Elliott in turn two and then Lincoln Miller in turns one and two on lap ten. Clinton went on to take the feature win ahead of Dylan Nelson, 2021 Track Champion Scott Dobel, Sassman and Sommerfeld.

In the 20 lap Super Late Models powered by Jerry Goebel State Farm, hometown favorite Jason Hahne and Curt Schroeder led the field to the green flag. Hahne grabbed the race lead but the caution came out just after one lap scored when Todd Johnson, Kirby Schultz and Jake Timm got together in turn two. Hahne was not fazed and held off Jeff Aikey and Schroeder on the restart but the caution came out again on lap three when Johnson spun in turn one. Hahne held off Aikey and Charlie McKenna and pulled away. Hahne looked to be cruising to the easy win until lap traffic slowed him down allowing Aikey and Lance Matthees to reel him. Hahne got by the lap traffic and held off Aikey and Matthees to take the feature win and pocket $1,800 for his efforts. Matthees got by Aikey for second moving Aikey back to third. McKenna came across in fourth and Schroeder was fifth.

Jayden Larson led the first three laps of the Olsen Family USRA Modifieds 20 lap feature before Jeff Aikey took over the race lead on lap four. The caution came out on lap five for Stacey Jennings and Brandon Shahan getting together. Aikey held tough and continued to lead until the caution came out again on lap eight for Darwin Karau spinning in turn four after clipping an infield tire. Aikey had to contend with Josh Angst and Dustin Sorensen on the restart. Angst took over the race lead on lap ten and look to fend off Sorensen. On the last lap, Sorensen made the move and stole the lead away. Sorensen took the win, Angst was second, Aikey was third, Jason Cummins was fourth and Dennis Elliott was fifth.

Brad Stahl and Jade Lange led the field to green in the MyRacePass USRA Tuners 12 lap feature event. Brad Stahl took the early lead but the caution came out when Desiree Sells experience issues forcing her to exit off the the front stretch under the flag stand. Brad Stahl held off Trent Reed and Lange on the restart and pulled away. Reed reeled Brad Stahl back in and appeared to take over the race lead however the caution came out on lap 11 when Mitchell Monthei spun in front of the race leaders forcing a green-white-checkered. Brad Stahl held off Reed to take the feature win. Reed, Lange, Chris Wilson and Katie Stahl rounded out the top five.

Next on the speedway was the Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Cars 20 lap feature event with Josh Monthei and Tyler Pickett leading the field to the green flag. Third place starter Mark Elliott, driver nicknamed "The Terminator" got bye both of them to take the early race lead. In a rare situation, Elliott got passed by Bill Crimmins on lap three. Crimmins held off Elliott and pulled away until cautions on lap nine. First caution was for Larry Knight in turn two and on the restart, Tyler Pospisil spun on the front stretch. Crimmins held off Elliott and Brady Link on the restart but cautions again on lap 11. The first caution was for Tyler Pickett after he pancaked the wall in turn one and two, then on the restart Bob Daniels and Nathan Roiger got together in turn four. Crimmins held off eleventh place starter Todd Staley and Elliott to go on an take the feature win. Tenth place Chanse Hollatz was fourth and twentieth place starter Mitch Hovden was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Stein Heating & Cooling USRA B-Mods 20 lap feature, Brandon Maitland and Brandon Toftee led the field the the green. Maitland led the first two laps before Toftee took over the race lead on lap three. The first caution came out on lap five but that did not faze Toftee as held off Maitland and 2021 Track Champion Ty Griffith  on the the restart. Toftee looked to be taking the easy win but the caution came out again on lap 15 when Jeremiah Reed spun  around and then again the caution came out when Justin Klynsma spun in turn four. Toftee went on to take the feature win ahead of Brandon Hare, Maitland, Dan Hovden and Griffith.

That puts a wrap on the 2021 season for the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. The racing was fantastic and the track was in pristine condition. Keep your eye out on their website and social media pages during the off season to find out their exciting 2022 schedule. Todd and Janet Staley along with Sarah and Brad Ratcliff are doing amazing job with improvements and keeping the historic half mile at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds on the map. Missed hearing Ryan Bergeson behind the microphone but his co-announcer Bryan Denekas did a great job holding the fort down last night, Braxton Flattery also did  a great job doing the Tuners and victory lane interviews.

Its proof no matter what the sanctioning body is whether it be IMCA, USRA, WISSOTA or unsanctioned, fans need to get out and continue their support of local dirt racing because there is no better place to be then at the races. So go support the Shiverfest in Donnellson on October 30th, Dirt in November at the Davenport Speedway on November 5th or Turkey Dash at the CJ Speedway on November 6th to hold you over until March when Specials begin the 2022 season.

Not sure yet but I am pretty sure this may have been the last race in 2021 season that I will be attending, although the Shiverfest in Donnellson this upcoming week sounds tempting the drive by myself does not. Same goes for the following week as their is two races in the first weekend of November in Iowa, in Davenport and Columbus Junction. I do want to thank everybody for the continued support of the Trackside Report by Foxman, I love racing and very rarely do I ever get in free to the races unless I am working them to make some money because I choose to support the racers. Remember I do everything for the Trackside Report by myself and have no outside help so if you enjoy my photos or blogs and offer up a free pit pass for me I am not going to pass that up, I mean I would probably except any donations. If I do not see at the races again this year, hope to catch you at the races in 2022.

As for what my plans for the 2022 season, we will wait to see what happens. I want to thank Independence Motor Speedway (JJAM Racing), Brooklyn Raceway (Don & Shelley Wauters) and Mike Van Genderen for having me help out this season when I could and hope to get to do it again next season. If you need somebody to announce, flag or score races, contact me because I can do all three. Will I be anywhere weekly or semi-weekly I guess we will find out before the season starts.

I took the camera along and captured pictures at the Fall Futurity, all pictures are posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman Facebook Page in a photo album : Hamilton County 20th Annual Fall Futurity 10-23-21.

Five Star Classic Day 1 Recap and Results + Day 2 Results

Well it had been two weeks since I was last at the races, that weekend I was assistant flagman one night and the second night as the flagman during the Inaugural Battle at Brooklyn Raceway so I was determined to get back to the races and explored my options for Saturday. The options for the weekend was the 35th Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Inaugural Iowa Dirt Nationals at the Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway in Dubuque or the Five Star Classic at  Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City.

I made the decision to make the 2 hour trip to Mason City for some great racing action, they had to start the races around two in the afternoon because they have been in the progress of putting in new lights, thanks to the help from Linahon Electric. However a needed part to finish the project has been on back order and they were hoping to get it in time to be able to run Friday and Saturday Night but that did not happen so they moved the show to Saturday and Sunday Afternoon, a decision that did not disappoint. More on that in little bit but lets recap the winners of the other specials this weekend.

Thirty-fifth Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa saw  One hundred seven cars checked in on Friday and 99 cars on Saturday. Friday Night feature winners included ; Johnny Spaw (Stock Cars), Luke Ramsey (Hobby Stocks), Maguire DeJong (Sport Mods), Glen Saville (Non-Wing Sprints) and Nathan Moody (Sport Compacts). Feature winners on Saturday : Spaw (Stock Cars), Curtis Vanderwal (Sport Mods), Colton Fisher (Non-Wing Sprints), Luke Ramsey (Hobby Stocks), Kolby Sabin (Sport Compacts) and Doak Allen (A.I.R.S).

At Dubuque County Fairgrounds was the Inaugural Iowa Dirt Nationals promoted by Darkside Promotions LLC (Timmy Current and Ryan Duhme). Thursday's winners included Andy Nezworski (Late Models), Richie Gustin (Modifieds), Tyler Pickett (Stock Cars), Tony Olson (Sport Mods) and Jimmy Doescher (Hobby Stocks). Friday Night's winners was Tim Ward (Modifieds), Jeff Mueller (Stock Cars), Tyler Soppe (Sport Mods), Jake Benischek (Hobby Stocks), Benischeck (4 Stocks) and Corey Vanderwilt / Brett Maasdam (Cruisers). Saturday Night's winners include Bryce Garnhart (Modifieds), Aaron Stolp (Stock Cars), Soppe (Sport Mods), Brett Vanous (Hobby Stocks), Jimmy Dutlinger (4 Stocks) and Don Erger (Micro Mods).

Back to talking about the racing action at the Mason City Motor Speedway for the Five Star Classic. One Hundred and eighteen cars signed in on Saturday afternoon including twenty five Rookie's Rockin' Sports Bar USRA B-Mods, 23 Christie Door Company USRA Stock Cars, 23 Wrightz Auction Co Outlaw Mini Mods, 20 Busch Light USRA Modifieds, 14 Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks and 13 USRA Tuners. It was absolute beautiful afternoon for racing with the racing action being completed in right around four hours as the final checkered flag was waived by Flagman Kyle Roose at 6:20pm. The racing surface was in fantastic and produced some great racing during the afternoon sunshine.

First feature of the day was the Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature event. Greg Sidles started outside the front row and grabbed the top spot early. Sidles led until the only race caution came out on lap four when Zac Smith came to a stop on the front-stretch. Riley Crimmins took the lead away on the restart but it was short lived as eighth place starter Dylan Clinton took the lead away on lap six. Clinton pulled away and went on to take the feature win. Crimmins finished second, Dustin Gulbrandson was third, Levi Sand was fourth and Danny Sassman Jr was fifth.

In the Rookie's Rockin' Sports Bar USRA B-Mods 20 lap feature. Noah Grinstead led the first four laps before the caution flags slowed the event. The first caution was for George Nordman in turn two. Nate Whitehurst took over the race lead on the restart but the caution again came out after lap five was scored when Taylor Skauge spun in turn two. Whitehurst continued to lead through the lap eight caution however on lap ten, Matt Beerbower spun in turn four forcing the caution to come out again, Beerbower went to move just as the leaders was coming by and Whitehurst ended up with heavy contact on the right side of this car forcing his night to come to an end. That gave the race lead over to Josh Roney. Roney and the field saw the caution one more time on lap 11 for Corbin Erickson and Taylor Bass in turn one. Roney went on to take the feature win ahead of Grinstead, Brandon Hare, Brian Mahlstedt and Jason Bass.

Just as the Wrightz Auction Co Outlaw Mini Mods powered by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair 15 lap feature was getting started, the caution came out when Dane Birkholz and Kaden Rice got together exiting turn four. Troy Ihrke grabbed the race lead and pulled away until he experience some mechanical issues on lap seven forcing him to slow down. That allowed Kamdyn Haggard to take over the race lead just prior to the caution coming out  when TJ Findlow spun turn one. The caution came out again on the restart when Ihrke, Bobby Ruehlow, Cole Bennerotte, Alexander Kenward and Bobby Daniels get together in turn four. Haggard held off Nathan Kilwine to take the feature win. Kilwine, Dalton Faber, Birkholz and Jerry Larson round out the top five.

Eric Knutson and Todd Staley led the field to green in the Christie Door Company USRA Stock Cars 20 lap feature.  Fourth place starter Blake Adams got by fellow second row starter Bill Crimmins and then edged out Knutson and Staley to lead lap one just before the caution came out for Kevin Opheim and Joe Schmit get together on the front-stretch. The feature had a little trouble getting back going as the caution came out three more times before another lap was scored. That forced speedway officials to start counting caution laps to get the feature completed. Adams pulled away from Staley and Eric Knutson on the final restart but two more cautions came out on lap five and eight. Adams was determined to not be denied the win. Craig Berhow worked his way to the runner-up spot. Lynn Panos was third, Staley fell back to fourth and twentieth place starter Paul Conrad finished fifth.

Before a lap was scored in the USRA Tuners 15 lap feature event, the caution came out when John Gill spun in turns one and two. Max Heimbuch and Josh Harms led the field back to the green flag with Heimbuch taking the early race lead. Heimbuch led until lap 12 when tenth place starter Brad Stahl had worked is way through the field. Stahl grabbed the lead away and went on to take the feature win. Heimbuch, Ryan Brant, Braiden Schaufenbuel and Jaedon Erickson rounded out the top five.

Final feature of the night was the Busch Light USRA Modifieds 20 lap feature event, Cory Crapser and Dustin Sorenson led the field to the green flag. Sorenson wrestled the lead away early and never looked back  in the feature that saw only one caution for debris in turn two. Sorenson took the feature win ahead of Josh Angst, Duke Erickson, Rodney Sanders and Dennis Elliott.

Mason City Motor Speedway race action on Sunday Afternoon, I did not make the trip up for Day two but wish I had because I heard the racing was fantastic.  Feature winners on Sunday was  Josh Angst (Busch Light USRA Modifieds), Bill Crimmins (Christie Door Company USRA Stock Cars), Ben Moudry (Rookie's Rockin' Sports Bar USRA B-Mods), Dustin Gulbrandson (Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks) and Max Heimbuch (USRA Tuners) and saw One Hundred three cars sign in to tame 1/3 mile.

Great job by the Todd, Janet, Ryne and Logan Staley on the improvements continued to be at Mason City Motor Speedway. Nice job by track announcers Bryan Denekas and Braxton Flattery, and flagman Kyle Roose. I had a blast Saturday afternoon and will try to make plans to make a return visit again next year because I see a great and positive future for USRA Racing and Mason City Motor Speedway.

I took the camera along and captured pictures on Saturday, all pictures are posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman Facebook Page in a photo album : Mason City Five Star Classic Day One 10-16-21.

Racing may be over at the Mason City Motor Speedway for the season but its not over yet for its sister track the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. What has the Foxman been up to?

I know I haven't written a blog recap since August in large part because I have been spending a lot of time at the Brooklyn Raceway in Brooklyn working as scorer or flagman along with occasionally doing victory lane photos for them so the notes keeping was to the bare minimum with the exception of having the results to update points.

Outside of that has also been very tough for my family since August because my brother Jesse passed away unexpectedly making tough emotionally on me and my family. Going to the races helped but many times the camera and clipboard stayed home just to enjoy a night to clear my mind which helped a lot.

After Independence wrapped up the season, I took time to reflect back on my season there which I spent most of the nights behind the microphone announcing and had the chance to fill in as flagman one night. I had fun being back behind the microphone again and enjoy filling in as flagman, would love to have the opportunity to flag more races in 2022.

On August 28th, Independence rained out Season Championship Night meaning the Points Battles Ended much like Marshalltown Speedway did the night before.

Following week the plan was on Friday Night September 3rd attend the Showdown at Motown but once again Marshalltown rained out and all other Friday night options did not look promising so stayed home and then set my sights on going racing on Saturday September 4th.

The decision after looking at the weather was decided to attend the Keokuk County Expo Figure 8 Races in Sigourney since they were running a double show, Friday's show was postponed to Saturday Afternoon and then the normal Saturday Race. Mostly took pictures and did very little note keeping

Once again took another week off from racing to enjoy the Marshalltown's Fall Festival Oktemberfest including taking in the Grand Parade Saturday morning. I was asked to fill in at Scotland County Speedway on Saturday September 25th because the originally scheduled announcers Tony Paris and Ryan Bergeson was busy, however I turned the opportunity down because I had already made plans to hang out with family.

We move into last week, I was not sure where I would end up going racing last weekend until last Monday September 27th, I get a message from Tim Young and Midwest Micro Series Director Kenzie Young about being assistant flagman for the Inaugural Battle at the Brooklyn Raceway this past weekend October 1st and 2nd. Assistant flagman duties meant I was in charge of the caution light all night which was extremely fun feeling the rumble of the micro sprints going below us. The final checkered flag that night came after midnight.

Personally I want to thank Mick Trier and Justin Temeyer for trusting me announcing in Independence this season. Thanks to Don and Shelley Wauters from The Brooklyn Raceway for letting me be a part of the staff all season long when I was available, a big shout out to Carrie for letting me help you out on most nights. Thanks to the Midwest Micro Series for letting me be apart of the Battle at the Brooklyn Raceway in important role.

Where will I end up attending races yet this fall its up in the air yet? Taking Pictures? Flagging? Announcing? I know I would love to have the opportunity to flag and announce one more time this year.

What is the plan for 2022 season? Not sure yet going to take time to look back on this season before I make a commitment next season but if you are a race track and interested in my services from flagging or announcing contact me.

I had so many words where I wanted to say but just can't put it in the words to type it up in this blog entry.

Thanks for all the support this season again, just maybe you will see me or hear me one more time this season!

Thomas Claims First Win in Indee

Track crew did a great job getting the racing surface ready for night number 13 of weekly racing at the Independence Motor Speedway after just over one inch of rain fell late Friday Night. One Hundred and eight cars signed in to tame the 3/8 mile race track and the racing did not disappoint even though there was a full moon out. They were two, three and four wide racing all night.

Brett Thomas and Ryan Maitland made their first tips to victory lane in the Sport Mods and Modifieds. Cole Mather (Stock Cars), Chad Dugan (Indee Cars), Cristian Grady (Sport Compacts), Kaden Reynolds (Hobby Stocks) and Logan Duffy (Late Models) all made a return trip to victory lane. The last checkered flag was displayed at 9:36pm.

Brett Thomas wrestled the early race lead from Tim Fobian in the Burco Sales IMCA Sport Mods 15 lap feature event. Thomas flexed his muscles early and pulled away from Fobian, who was under attack from Vern Jackson, Kyle Olson and Brandon Tharp. The first caution came out on lap five when 50H spun in turn two. Thomas got a great restart and held the field off again but the caution came out again on lap seven for Troy Burkhart in turn four. Thomas held off Jackson and Tony Olson on the restart but four more cautions came out on lap eight, ten, restart of lap ten and eleven. Thomas determined to claim his first win on Saturday Night fending off Jackson, Tony Olson and Kyle Olson to take the win. Jackson finished second, Kyle Olson finished third. Brandon Tharp was fourth and Tony Olson came back to finish fifth after slipping up with a few laps to go. Kyle Olson leads cousin Tony Olson by one point going into season championship night.

In the Dominator Chassis IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature, "Mrs. Dominator" Leah Wroten grabbed the race lead fending off Kellie Drury. Wroten held off several early race challenges from Drury and Philip Holtz. Drury took the top spot away from Wroten on lap eight and hung on to the race lead until Cole Mather worked his way from seventh starting spot. Mather took the race lead away on lap sixteen and would go on to take his seventh win of the season in Indee. Drury finished second, Holtz was third, Tom Schmitt took fourth and Jacob Ellithorpe was fifth.

Kolton Osborn led the first four laps of the Waterloo Auto Parts Indee Cars 12 lap feature before Chad Dugan worked his way through the field. Chad Dugan took the top spot away from Osborn on lap five. Chad Dugan pulled away and went on to claim his fourth win of the season in the Indee Cars. Osborn had his best finish of second. Carson James, Dale Schwamman and Matt Dugan rounded out the top five.

Up next was the Waterloo Auto Parts Sport Compacts 12 lap feature event. Timothy Hanson grabbed the early race lead fending off several challenges from Jay Crabill. The first caution came out on lap three when Joseph Hempstead spun in turn two. Hanson had pressure from Crabill and Cristian Grady on the restart but held them off until lap six when Grady took the race lead away. The caution came out again on lap seven when Zeke Wheeler spun on the back-stretch after contact with Travis Losenicky. Grady held off Crabill and Hanson but the caution came out one more time on lap nine for Noah Beenken spinning in turn three meanwhile Hanson and Ashley Reuman trying to spin each other out was both black flagged for questionable driving. Grady hung on to claim his second win of the season in Indee. Crabill settled up for the runner-up finish. Blake Driscol, Joseph Hempstead and Justin Hempstead was third through fifth.

Rod McDonald led the first lap of the Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature before a caution came out when Mark Schulte spun in turn one. McDonald hung on to race lead until Ryan Maitland made the right move and took over the top spot on lap four. Maitland pulled away until the caution came out on lap seven for Terry Johnson in turn two. Maitland looked to cruising to victory until Troy Cordes worked his way through the field. Cordes reeled in Maitland and showed his nose a few times until a caution came out forcing a green-white-checkered restart. Maitland held off Cordes and Mike Burbridge to take the feature win. Cordes, Burbridge, Brennen Chipp and Mark Schulte rounded out the top five.

In the Albert Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature event, Dalton Weepie led the first twelve laps after wrestling the lead from fellow front row starter Russ Olson. Weepie got a little separation but had to know Kaden Reynolds was working his way through the field. Reynolds made the right move and took over the top spot away from Weepie on lap 13, and led the remaining laps to claim his seventh win of the season in Indee. Weepie was second, Olson was third, Shawn Kuennen was fourth and Andrew Burk was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the 25 lap Dunlap Motors IMCA Late Models feature. Chase Jermeland took the early race lead holding off Darren Mish and Leah Wroten early. Jermeland then held off Logan Duffy until the caution came out on lap 13. The caution was for Austin Russell spinning in turn three. On the restart, Duffy and Sean Johnson put pressure on Jermeland, Jermeland spun in turn four forcing the yellow to come out before another lap scored in the books. Since Jermeland was the leader and he was the yellow it meant per Indee Rules, It would be straight up restart with Jermeland to the tail. Duffy grabbed the lead on the restart held off Johnson until the last caution came out on lap 23 when Jermeland spun in turn four. Duffy hung on to take his third win of the season giving him a 3 point lead heading into season championships. Braaksma, Murty, Schrage and Reynolds Among Winners on Toby K's Hideaway Night in MoTown

Its been a few weeks since I wrote a blog recap after a night at the races, I had a family funeral so I opted to not take notes to keep my mind clear and then last Saturday Night instead of announcing races in Independence I was filling in for the normal flagman Wes White, as he was down in Texas doing some flagging. Finally on Friday Night is back to keeping notes a writing a recap.

Marshalltown Speedway was able to run an efficient show in 2 hours and 35 minutes as the last checkered flag came out at 10:05pm. The racing was exciting and you would have thought the full moon was tonight. One hundred and six cars signed in the pit gate to tame the high banked quarter-mile race track.

Jake Benischek, Dillon Raffurty, Austin Schrage, Kaden Reynolds, Ethan Braaksma and Dallon Murty all took feature wins on the Night sponsored by Toby K's Hideaway of Boone.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Sport Compacts 12 lap feature event. Dayton Filloon led the first lap before Jake Benischek took over the race lead on lap two. Benischek held off Filloon, Kolby Sabin and Mark Smith before pulling away. Benischek went on to take the feature win in the only feature to go with out a caution. Sabin finished second, John Gill was third, Timothy Hanson finished fourth and Smith was fifth.

Before a single lap scored in the books of the IMCA Mod Lites 15 lap feature, there was a caution. The caution was for Cody Yaw spinning in turn two. On the restart, National Points Leader Dillon Raffurty jumped out to the race lead meanwhile Michael Raffurty and Josh May tried to take the lead away. David Raffurty made it a four car battle up from but Dillon Raffurty hung tough. Dillon Raffurty went on to take the feature win ahead of May, Dustin Ford, Michael Raffurty and Douglas Byers.

The IMCA Sport Mods 18 lap feature had a little trouble getting a lap scored as the caution came out just as soon as the race started. Jessiah Taylor, Izac Mallicoat and Tyler Inman got together in turn one meanwhile Joe Luethje went off the top of turn two bring out the caution. On the restart, the caution came out when Andrew Sneller spun on the front stretch. Brian Schrage took the lead on the third start attempt but Brady Hilmer race side-by-side and took over the top spot on lap two. Hilmer's lead was short-lived as Brian Schrage took back the lead on lap five. Brian Schrage looked heading on to the win until son Austin Schrage was able to make the move and take the top spot away on lap 14. Austin Schrage went on to take the feature win, Brian Schrage finished runner-up. Jenae Gustin, Hilmer and Kyle Olson round out the top five.

Kyle Parizek took the early lead of the IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature event and fended off Jeremiah Andrews, Scott Ellis and National Points Leader Kaden Reynolds until the caution came out on lap six when Ellis spin in turn two. Parizek led lap seven but Reynolds made the move and took over the top spot on lap eight. Reynolds followed by Andrews into second. The last caution came out on lap 13 when Kevin LeBeau spun in turn two. Reynolds went on to take his twelfth win of the season in Motown. Andrews finished second, Parizek took third, John Watson was fourth and Luke Schluetter was fifth.

Ethan Braaksma jumped out to the early lead of the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature and pulled away only to see the caution come out. The caution was for an infield tire ripped out of the ground was sitting in turn four before rolling down the front stretch. Braaksma held off Joel Rust and Jake Pike on the restart and once again got a little seperation but the caution again came out on lap 17 for debris on front stretch. Braaksma went on to take feature win ahead of Ronn Laurtizen, Pike, Rust and Tim Ward.

Final Feature of the night was the 20 lap IMCA Stock Cars feature. The Class Too Tough Too Tame lived up to the that slogan but in a wild way as the race had a total of seven cautions. Kenzie Ritter led the first lap before David Atcher led lap two. Steve Meyer took the lead away on lap three and held off Atcher and Tyler Pickett. The first caution came out on lap eight when Hayden Hartwick in turn two. Meyer had to contend with National Points Leader Dallon Murty and Pickett on the restart. Dallon Murty took over the race lead but the caution came out again on lap 13 when Tonia Stevens spun in turn two. The next caution on lap 15 when Jeff Wollam had his throttle stick heading in turn one forcing him to make a hard right that collected Jay Schmidt sending him into a soft roll off the top side of turn two, Both drivers would be okay but ended their night after they both made their way through the field.

The cautions were not done as they came out two more times on lap 17 for debris in turn two and then on the restart when the restart called back. After lap 18 scored, the caution came out for Tom Cannon, Kylie Rawlins and Mitchell Evens in turns one and two. Dallon Murty hung on to take his six win of the season in Motown.
