Marshalltown, Iowa (November 16th, 2013) – After taking a week off it was back to the Thunder Dome for Race number three of the eight race winter season. A lot of exciting and close finishes in several races on the day, we even had a short delay be heavy rain.
Before Main events could go we had a last chance qualifer for the Clone Heavy and it was Travis Hatch and John Hyman grabbing the final two transfer spots in the Clone Heavy feature.
First Feature of the day was the Jr Two Medium feature which saw Mark Maas complete a sweep by leading all 12 laps. Second wented to Michael Pfalzgraf, who also was credited with the win in the Jr Two Animal Division. Colton Runyan was third but got second in the Jr Two Medium division.
Only one Restricted Box Stock on the Day and that was of Bradyn Greubel, who experienced motor issues in hot laps.
JP Strawn was the only Kid Kart on the day so he would take home the win.
Open four Cycles saw Casey Greubel grab the early lead in the feature event and appeared to be going on to the win until his go-kart was getting a strong push in the corners that allow Bryan Nevins Jr to catch up to himm. Greubel and Nevins would make contact in turn two on lap 11 forcing a restart with four laps to go. Greubel and Nevins battled out for the lead and came across the line side-by-side but it was Nevins with his bumper just barely in front of Greubel to take the win. Gary Stark came home third meanwhile Jason Purvis was fourth.
In the Quad C Trophy Class it was Riley Onofre grabbing the early lead but on lap six, Jeremy Polson experienced troubles when he was unable to get his quad to turn in the corners. At the same time, Onofre exited to the infield with a flat left front tire that handed the lead over Jamie Gilbert. Gilbert lead until lap eight when Brandon Gillette got by. Gillette went on to take the win, Gilbert was second, Justin Sutherlin was third, Onofre was fourth and Polson was fifth.
Rookie Beginners saw three entries this week but it was the "Little Flying Deuce" Chase Atcher taking another feature win by leading the entire ten laps. Tyler Fessler came home in the runner-up position and Jake Riddle was third.
The Rookie Adavanced class saw Ty Solverson completing a sweep by leading all ten laps in the feature. "Toledo Terror' Kinzer Jaennette was second.
Jr. Quads Beginners (0-90cc) had a total of nine entries so they were split into two races. First feature was called "The Fast" Feature and this race saw the young man named Valley True lead from start-to-finish. Brody Northway finished in the runner up spot. Jackson Misel was third, Carter Kruse was fourth and Jake Riddle was fifth.
The "Slow" Feature saw Davonte Polson lead from start-to-finish. James Anderson finished second, Izabell Purvis was third and Lily Pike was fourth.
The second Jr. Quads Beginners feature was called "The Fast" Feature and it was Jake Riddle leading the first two laps before Conner Ruge got by to take the top spot. Ruge took the win over Riddle, Jackson Misel, Carter Kruse and James Anderson.
In the Advanced class (0-125cc), it was Conner Ruge leading all ten laps in the feature to complete the sweep. Tristian Rethmeier was second and Ashton Gilbert was third.
Mad Dogg Bikes were lead from start to finish by Clayton Webster. Justin Lichty finished second, Brian Kauffman was third and Leighton Potter was fourth.
Up next was the Jr One Amateur division and it was Braydn Greubel leading the first handful of laps before Jackson Bresson was able to grab the top spot away. Bresson went on to take the win over Greubel, Aaron Lyon, Drake Badker and Seth Stacey.
For the third race only one Jr. Bike was signed in to battle and that was of Young Kaden Kauffman from Cedar Rapids. Kaden however got a little competition again by his dad Brian Kauffman. Brian would get a head and then slow down let Kaden by through out the entrie race, the black flag was pointed at Brian. Kaden crossed in first barely to win.
Quad B feature saw Blake Miller lead all 15 laps to take the win. Vance Misel came home scond, David Petithory was third, Brandon Gillette was fourth and Riley Onofre was fifth.
Finally the Unlimited All-Stars (UAS) class had some entries. "Toby" Matt Webb lead the entire feature event to take the win. "Handsome" Rob Crandell finish second.
Jr One Medium feature saw Brady Kohrs take advantage of starting on the pole as he lead all 12 laps to take his second win of the season. Dayton Filloon came home in the runner up spot. Amy Thomas, McKinzie Culbertson amd Walker Ashton rounded out the top five.
Clone Heavy division 16 entries on the day and after the feature field was dwindled down to 12 for the feature it was time for the 15 lap event. Al Wolfgram grabbed the lead and appeared to be going on to the win but several cautions came out at the mid-way point of the race. First caution came out when Josh Banzhaf got pinched up against the wall and rolled his kart on the front stretch. Banzhaf was okay meanwhile when the race resumed things started getting heated again. Cole Janssen and Dean Mahlstedt got into eachother in turn three, which after a little altercation in turn three. Racing resumed and few laps later the caution came out again this time for Wolfgram when he had a wheel break off.
This handed the lead over to Paul Nagle, Nagle lead the remaining laps to take the win. Clair Messor, Tyler Havens, Jared Daggett and Casey Luke rounded out the top five.
Again there was Only one Pro-Am Bike on the day so he opted to run with the Pro Bike Class which there was also only one entry. Clayton Webster grabbed the win in the feature and also credited with the Pro Bike win meanwhile Younger Brother Brandon Webster finished second and was credited the win in the Pro-Am Bike.
Final feature of the day was the Quad A Feature. Just like he did in Quad B, it was Blake Miller leading from start-to-finish. Vance Misel again came home second. David Petithory was third, DJ Robinson and Rick Reeves rounded out the top five.
Next race inside the Thunder Dom will be on Saturday December 7th at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds in Marshalltown. After that race the next one will be on February 1st. Gates Open at nine am, Sign-In from nine to 11:30 am, Drivers Meeting at 11:45 am, Hot Laps at Noon and Racing to Follow. Pit Pass is Fifteen dollars for all Adults and Kids (8 & Under Participant), meanwhile Kids (8 & Under non-participant) are Free.

Lighting Fast Racing Once Again Inside the Thunder Dome / Race #2 Recap
Marshalltown, Iowa (November 2nd, 2013) – For the second consecutive week, the Thunder Dome Indoor Dirt Racing saw some lightining fast racing action. Several Races during the day saw exciting and amazing finishes. As there was 72 entries on the day to take on the lightining fast bull ring.
First class of the day was the Jr Two Medium and it was Mark Maas from Epworth completing the sweep by leading the entire 12 lap feature. Kobe Moriarty came home in the runner up spot.
Kid Karts were up next and it was Cason Fitch completing a sweep of his own by leading all ten laps. The Mystery Rider in the number 62 kid kart, last year drove by Kinzer Jaennette, came home in the runner up spot. JP Strawn came home third.
In the Quad C Trophy Class before a lap was completed the red flag was displayed when Richard Blom had his throttle stick and he went flying off turn three, he and the quad when flying toward a guard rail. Blom was okay and walked away. When the race restarted it was Brandon Gillette leading all 15 laps to take the win and complete the sweep. Jamie Gilbert, Justin Sutherlin and Richard Blom finished second through fourth.
Rookie Beginners saw only two entries on the day and it was the "Little Flying Deuce" of Chase Atcher taking the sweep over "Toledo Terror" Kinzer Jaennette.
The Rookie Adavanced class saw Keagan Thompson finally able to get by Ty Solverson on the start and hold off every challenge from Solverson preventing him from clean sweep on the day.
Jr. Quads Beginners (0-90cc) had a total of eight entries so they were split into two races. First feature was called "The Slow" Feature and this race was very exciting as JP Strawn grabbed the early lead and then his quad shut off and after it was restarted the quad died again that handed the lead over to Lily Pike just beyond the half way point. Pike held off Turner Bennett to take the win.
The second Jr. Quads Beginners feature was called "The Fast" Feature and it was Jake Riddle leading the first two laps before Conner Ruge got by to take the top spot. Ruge took the win over Riddle, Jackson Misel, Carter Kruse and James Anderson.
In the Advanced class (0-125cc), it was Ashton Gilbert leading the first two laps before Conner Ruge took the top spot away. Ruge went on to take the win just like he did in the beginner class. Last Week's Winner Tristian Rethmeier finished second and Gilbert was third.
For the second week in a row, Keeton Fleener got the whole shot victory in the Mad Dogg Bikes. Brandon Webster finished second, Patrick Decook was third, Brian Kauffman was fourth and Kyle Busch was fifth.
Up next would be the Jr One Amateur division and it was Dayton Filloon leading all 12 laps to complete another sweep of the day. Aaron Lyon of Independence finish second and Seth Stacy was third.
Again Only One entry in the Jr. Bike Class and that was of Young Kaden Kauffman from Cedar Rapids. Kaden got some good track experience as dad Brian joined him on the track for a little fun again and Kaden is defintely got the hang of it as he held off dad every lap.
Quad B feature saw Eric Vanderploeg lead all 15 laps to take the win. David Petithory had a better outcome this week as he finished second. Brandon Gillette, Vance Misel and Blake Miller rounded out the top five.
Amateur Bikes feature saw Patrick Decook taking the win over Promoter Brian Kauffman.
Jr One Medium feature saw the yellow flag come out before a single lap was completed when Ashton Gein and a few others got together in turn four. On the restart, it was Blaine Webster leading the first lap but it was Brady Kohrs taking the top spot away on lap two. Kohrs cruised on to the win, despite a charging Nick Rose that caught up to Kohrs just as they were catching lap traffic late in the race. Webster finished third, McKinzie Culbertson was fourth and Brandon Way was fifth.
Clone Heavy feature was up next and well fireworks was the common thing in this race. Tyler Havens lead the first seven laps but when a caution came out on lap six when John Hyman got in the wall in turn two and then again for debris. Havens had to battle with Ryan Gustin on the restart and Gustin was able to sneak by on lap eight to take the lead. Gustin would slip up and Havens snuck by on the last lap but in turn four Gustin got into Havens coming to the checkered. Just before the checkered was displayed the race went back to the last completed lap with Havens being credited the win. Eddie Brose in second, Johnny Emerson was third. Clair Messor was fourth and Al Wolfgram was fifth.
Again there was Only one Pro-Am Bike on the day so he opted to run with the Pro Bike Class. Brandon Webster was the winner in the Pro-Am Bike Class meanwhile in the Pro Bikes for the second week in a row it was Older Brother Clayton Webster taking the clean sweep win over Keeton Fleener.
Final feature of the day was the Quad A Feature. Eric Vanderploeg lost wheel on the initial start forcing a restart. Blake Miller jumped to the lead and never looked back in route to the win. David Petithory came home second for the second time today. Vance Misel grabbed third away from Rick Reeves.

The Rookie Adavanced class saw Keagan Thompson finally able to get by Ty Solverson on the start and hold off every challenge from Solverson preventing him from clean sweep on the day.
Jr. Quads Beginners (0-90cc) had a total of eight entries so they were split into two races. First feature was called "The Slow" Feature and this race was very exciting as JP Strawn grabbed the early lead and then his quad shut off and after it was restarted the quad died again that handed the lead over to Lily Pike just beyond the half way point. Pike held off Turner Bennett to take the win.
The second Jr. Quads Beginners feature was called "The Fast" Feature and it was Jake Riddle leading the first two laps before Conner Ruge got by to take the top spot. Ruge took the win over Riddle, Jackson Misel, Carter Kruse and James Anderson.
In the Advanced class (0-125cc), it was Ashton Gilbert leading the first two laps before Conner Ruge took the top spot away. Ruge went on to take the win just like he did in the beginner class. Last Week's Winner Tristian Rethmeier finished second and Gilbert was third.
For the second week in a row, Keeton Fleener got the whole shot victory in the Mad Dogg Bikes. Brandon Webster finished second, Patrick Decook was third, Brian Kauffman was fourth and Kyle Busch was fifth.
Up next would be the Jr One Amateur division and it was Dayton Filloon leading all 12 laps to complete another sweep of the day. Aaron Lyon of Independence finish second and Seth Stacy was third.
Again Only One entry in the Jr. Bike Class and that was of Young Kaden Kauffman from Cedar Rapids. Kaden got some good track experience as dad Brian joined him on the track for a little fun again and Kaden is defintely got the hang of it as he held off dad every lap.
Quad B feature saw Eric Vanderploeg lead all 15 laps to take the win. David Petithory had a better outcome this week as he finished second. Brandon Gillette, Vance Misel and Blake Miller rounded out the top five.
Amateur Bikes feature saw Patrick Decook taking the win over Promoter Brian Kauffman.
Jr One Medium feature saw the yellow flag come out before a single lap was completed when Ashton Gein and a few others got together in turn four. On the restart, it was Blaine Webster leading the first lap but it was Brady Kohrs taking the top spot away on lap two. Kohrs cruised on to the win, despite a charging Nick Rose that caught up to Kohrs just as they were catching lap traffic late in the race. Webster finished third, McKinzie Culbertson was fourth and Brandon Way was fifth.
Clone Heavy feature was up next and well fireworks was the common thing in this race. Tyler Havens lead the first seven laps but when a caution came out on lap six when John Hyman got in the wall in turn two and then again for debris. Havens had to battle with Ryan Gustin on the restart and Gustin was able to sneak by on lap eight to take the lead. Gustin would slip up and Havens snuck by on the last lap but in turn four Gustin got into Havens coming to the checkered. Just before the checkered was displayed the race went back to the last completed lap with Havens being credited the win. Eddie Brose in second, Johnny Emerson was third. Clair Messor was fourth and Al Wolfgram was fifth.
Again there was Only one Pro-Am Bike on the day so he opted to run with the Pro Bike Class. Brandon Webster was the winner in the Pro-Am Bike Class meanwhile in the Pro Bikes for the second week in a row it was Older Brother Clayton Webster taking the clean sweep win over Keeton Fleener.
Final feature of the day was the Quad A Feature. Eric Vanderploeg lost wheel on the initial start forcing a restart. Blake Miller jumped to the lead and never looked back in route to the win. David Petithory came home second for the second time today. Vance Misel grabbed third away from Rick Reeves.
Thunder Dome Race number three takes place on Saturday November 16th at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds in Marshalltown. Gates Open at nine am, Sign-In from nine to 11:30 am, Drivers Meeting at 11:45 am, Hot Laps at Noon and Racing to Follow. Pit Pass is Fifteen dollars for all Adults and Kids (8 & Under Participant), meanwhile Kids (8 & Under non-participant) are Free.
Full Throttle Promotions, Brian & Dolly Kauffman, are also putting on the first coke syrup race at the North Iowa Event Center located at the North Iowa Fairgrounds in Mason City called the Rumble in The River City on November 22nd and 23rd.
