"Crowd Pleaser" Craig Dollansky Takes NSL and Johnston Takes RaceSaver Sprints at ISF
So when i created my scheduled back in April the original plan was to work the Ron Little Memorial at Stuart but after being let go from Stuart, the week before I was able to pick up the National Sprint League and RaceSaver IMCA Sprints Special. I thought I was only going to announce the RaceSaver Sprints portion but i was granted the rights to all announcing duties on Sunday which meant i got to announce the National Sprint League portion and it was so much fun words can describe it.
I hope i made a good friend of the Iowa State Fair Speedway, who we lost a few weeks ago really proud of me last night announcing the 410 Sprint Cars. The National Sprint League and Knoxville Raceway Staff was fun to work with all night along with the crew from the Iowa State Fair Speedway.
IMCA RaceSaver Sprints
Heat Winners was Jason Martin of Lincoln, Nebraska; Tyler Thompson and Mike Moore, both from Des Moines.
In the 18 lap feature event, it was Tyler Drueke taking advantage of the pole postion and appeared to be pulling away just before the caution came out on lap five for Blain Petersen in turn four. Drueke continued to set the pace but a caution came out again just after the completion of lap eight for Mike Dapra coming to a stop on the backstretch. Drueke experience mechanical issues and came to a stop in turn four that handed the lead over to Michael Johnston. Johnston led the remaining laps to take his first win of the season at ISF. Mike Moore came home second, Tyler Thompson was third, Mike Houseman was fourth and Clint Benson was fifth.
National Sprint League 410 Sprints
Deberg Concrete/Slade Shock Technology Quick Timer was "The Crowd Pleaser" Craig Dollansky from Elk River, Minnesota with a time of 19.138. Ian Madsen, "Dude" Danny Lasoski, Brooke Tatnell and "Blackjack" Brian Brown rounded out the top five in time trials.
"Mad Man" Kerry Madsen won the Walker Performance Filtration Heat one and "Taz" Tasker Phillips won the Kaeding Performance Heat two.
Top eight in points took part of the Nehring Construction Pole Scramble and in the final round it was Dollansky beating out Lasoski for $1,000 and the right to choose inside or outside front row for the 20 lap feature.
Dollansky chose the outside lane and led from start to finish in the 20 lap feature event. Only thing slowing Dollansky was lap traffic which allowed Lasoski to try to make the move but Dollansky was like Superman as he went on take the win ahead of Lasoski. "Slammin" Sammy Swindell was third, Kerry Madsen was fourth and Ian Madsen was fifth.
Next up for the National Sprint League 410 Sprints is a doubleheader at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota on Friday Night and Knoxville Raceway on Saturday Night.

Stanton Remains Perfect at Marshalltown
Mother Nature has played many games this week, which lead to the Iowa State Fair Speedway to fall victim to early morning rain on Friday. So after Des Moines cancelled the decision was made to make a five minute trip across town to the Marshalltown Speedway for Minute Man Printing Night. Six classes including the Outlaw Quads and the official car count was 108 cars checked in to tame the high banked quarter mile.
Eric Stanton remains perfect at Marshalltown in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Other feature winners included Mike Morrill (Mod Lites), Jared Van Deest (IMCA SportMods), Donavon Smith (IMCA Stock Cars), Eric Elliott (IMCA Modifieds) and Dan Needels (Outlaw Quads).
Before the features the scary incident of the night was in the 1st heat race of the night when Joe Luethje, piloting Jason Whitehead's Mod Lite would roll the car hard of the top of turns one and two. Luethje was taken to Central Healthcare Medical Center in Marshalltown and was treated and released with a broken collarbone. Hope for a speedy recovery.
First feature of the night was the Mod Lites feature minus Luethje so the 12 lap feature rolled to the speedway. "Huggie Bear" Joel Huggins grabbed the early lead but that was short lived because on lap two, Huggins ran the bottom and Mike Morrill ran the top and it was Morrill taking the top spot away. A lap later, the only caution came out for Angelo Montgomery spinning in turn two. Morrill would cruise on to take his first win at Marshalltown in 2016 ahead of Travis Stensland, Randy Bryan, Huggins and Joe Glick.
Travis Peterson started on the pole in the IMCA SportMods 15 lap feature event and he took advantage by grabbing the lead on lap one just before a caution came out when Taylor Musselman and Scott Williams got together on the frontstretch. Dakota Sellers and Curt Hilmer in tow but Peterson remained out front until the caution came out again on lap three for Blair Simmons in turn four. Peterson now saw Hilmer and Cory Rose trying to take the lead away, and Rose was successful on lap five. Rose, Jared Van Deest and Peterson began a three car battle then for the top spot with Rose remaining out front event after a lap ten caution. Van Deest was able to make the pass on Rose for the top spot with two laps to go, would go on to take his third win of the season at Motown. Peterson came home second, Johnathan Logue worked his way up to finish third, Carter VanDenBerg was fourth and Jake McBirnie was fifth.
David Simpson lead the opening lap of the IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature but it was Kevin Derry grabbing the lead on lap two but then the caution came out when Derry and Simpson got together on the backstretch. On the restart, Derry saw Jamie Songer go on by before a trio of cautions came out on lap three. Songer maintained the lead until Eric Stanton worked his way on by and took the top spot away on lap six. Stanton led the remaining laps and the only thing slowing him to take his fifth win in as many point nights was a caution on lap 11 for Allen Fleener in turn two. Songer finished second ahead of Gary Pfantz, Doug McCollough and Leah Wroten.
The IMCA Stock Cars lived up to the name of class to tough to tame as on lap one, they were three and four wide racing and by the end of lap one it was Jerry Schipper leading. Matt Deaton wrestled the lead away on lap two but Kyle Everts grabbed the top spot on lap four just before caution when Schipper spun in turn one. Everts saw Donavon Smith work his way to the lead on lap seven just before Curt Balmer spun in turn two. Donavon Smith would go on and take his first win at Marshalltown in 2016. Damon Murty, Michael Jaennette, Donavon Nunnikhoven and Trent Murphy rounded out the top five.
Eric Elliott grabbed the top spot early in the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature event that was caution filled. The race caution came out on lap for Aaron Benz in turn two. Elliott held off several challenges by Trent Jackson and Joel Rust on the restart but the caution came out again on lap seven for Adam Larson and Scott Simatovich getting together in turn one. Elliott remained out front but the caution came out on lap nine collecting Simatovich, Rod Clement, Colby Heishman, Jenae Gustin, Tyler Gross, Kyle Brown, David Brown and Andrew Kinser in turn four. Elliott ramained out front but the caution came out again on lap 13 for Joel Rust going off turn three and then on lap 17 for Adam Larson doing the same. Elliott held off challenges from Jimmy Gustin and Jacob Murray to take home the win. Gustin edged out Murray for second. Racer Hulin was fourth and Ronn Lauritzen with a fifth place finish.
The final feature of the night was the Outlaw Quads and it was Dan Needels getting the wholeshot victory leading from start to finish. Tyler Owens, George Hood, Adam Streeter and David Petithory completed the top five.
Racing action continues next Friday Night as the speedway with State Center Night / Salute to Marshalltown Firemen. Then the following Tuesday Night the speedway hosts the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models, Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds and $500 to win IMCA Stock Cars. On Friday June 10th, the first weekly points night appearance for the IMCA Late Models.

Lowry and the field saw the caution come out on lap nine when Curtis VanDerWal spun exiting turn four and collecting Austin Paul, both would continue. Lowry was not going to be denied the win though as he went on to take his first win of the season at Osky. Ackerman Takes Late Model Checkers in Vinton
Well after learning that I would not be returning to the Stuart International Speedway to announce races the rest of the year on Sunday morning, it did not dampen my spirits as i decided to make a slightly shorter trip over to the Benton County Speedway in Vinton for a weekly Points Night.
Sunday Night in Vinton featured the IMCA Late Models for their second of five appearance to the Benton County Speedway. Officially 95 cars checked in to race including 12 IMCA Late Models.
After having the initial start called back twice for Russ Olson jumping the start, Olson was sent to the tail with a complete restart in the BCS Micro Mods feature. On the restart, it was Don Erger grabbing the top spot and never looking back taking his third win in Vinton this season. Cole McNeal came home second, Josh Havlik was third, Scott Beatty was fourth and Carson Less was Fifth.
Ryan King led the first three laps of the IMCA SportMods feature event but Joey Schaefer took the top spot away on lap four just before a caution came out for Mitch Manternach sitting in turn two. Schaefer continued to set the pace out front but Tony Olson was working his way through the field and would grab the top spot just before another caution on lap 12 for Manternach again in turn two. Olson saw the caution come out two more times on lap 13 but it was Tony Olson completing his weekend sweep (Davenport Friday, Indee Saturday and Vinton Tonight) with the win ahead of hard charging Sam Wieben, Schaefer, Danny Dvorak and Curt Hilmer.
Shane Ebaugh led the first nine laps of the IMCA Stock Cars feature but Damon Murty managed to grab the top spot away on lap ten. Murty would go on take his 199th career IMCA Stock Car feature win over Ebaugh, Justin Stander, Jared Daggett and Scott Pippert.
A Caution for Josh Barta and Chris Snyder in turn four would force a complete restart in the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature. When the race final got started, it was Mike Burbrudge grabbing the top spot but he had to fend of several challenges until Patrick Flannagan was able to take the top spot on lap seven. Another caution came out on lap eight for Burbridge in turn two, a lap later it was Dennis Betzer in turn two as well. Meanwhile JD Auringer took the top spot away on lap nine and went on to take the feature win ahead of Flannagan, Tony Snyder, Zach Less and Troy Cordes.
Daniel Wauters led lap one of the IMCA Hobby Stock feature but it was August Bach taking it away on lap two. Bach and the field saw the only race caution come out on lap five when Nathan Ballard broke an axle in turn four. Bach went on to the win, Justin Wacha came home second, Brett Vanous in third, Leah Wroten in fourth and Zach Swanson in fifth.
Final feature of the night was the IMCA Late Models and it would go green-to-checkered. Ben Seeman led the first eight laps meanwhile Darren Ackerman would take the lead away on lap nine and never look back. Joe Zrostlik took second away from Seeman. Jerry King came home fourth and John Emerson got by Bobby Hansen late for fifth.
Next Week two nights of racing action will occur. First on Sunday Night it will be Cancer Awareness/Frank O'Meara Night at the races featuring $1,000 to win/$100 to start draw/redraw IMCA Modifieds. by Jeremy Fox
Des Moines, IA (May 20th, 2016) - For the second time in three days the Iowa State Fair Speedway roared to life with some horsepower racing action. 113 cars signed in to race on the half mile oval.
Todd Inman grabbed two features (IMCA Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks). Other feature winners were Glenn Gladson Jr (IMCA SportMods), Josh Foster (IMCA Modifieds), Shannon Anderson (IMCA Hobby Stocks), Clint Benson (IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars) and Ben Nading (IMCA Late Models).
First feature of the night was the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks 12 lap feature event. The time limit had expired so the field was told the next caution or checkered would finish the race. Moro saw Todd Inman sneak to the inside and took the lead away coming out of turn four to complete lap three. Inman went on to take his fourth win ahead of Brad Comegys, Lou Siplot, Rick Clark and John Davis.
Before a single lap was completed in the IMCA SportMods feature event the caution came out for debris in turn one, DJ Robinson Hood flew off and then on the restart Ty Griffith experienced trouble. Robert Moore grabbed the lead early when the feature finally did get started but Glenn Gladson Jr worked his way up to take the top spot away on lap six. Gladson went on take his second consecutive win ahead of Robinson, Brandon Williams, Jack Housley and Taylor Musselman.
A multi car incident happen in turn three before a single lap was completed in the IMCA Modifieds feature but once the race got going it was Nick Roberts taking the lead. Roberts look comfortable out front in the lead despite Josh Foster chasing him down but a caution came out on lap 11 for Matt Waugh in turn four. That allowed Foster to compete for the lead, Foster grabbed the lead away on lap 13 meanwhile Roberts experienced mechanical issues. Foster went on take the win, ninth placer starter Mark Elliott was second. Todd Shute race his way back up to finish third, Andrew Schroeder was fourth and Greg Cox was fifth.

That allowed racing veteran Bill Bonnett to take the lead away on the restart. Bonnett and August Bach battled for the top spot with Bonnett holding on to the lead until Bach took it away on lap nine. Bach time out front was short lived as Shannon Anderson grabbed second from Bonnett and the lead from Bach on lap 11. Anderson remains perfect he would take his fourth feature win of the season at ISF. Bonnett, Bach, John Watson and Brandon Cox rounded out the top five.

Damon Murty started seventh but found his way through the field to take the lead from Killen on lap three. Murty was out front in pursuit of the win to put him one shy of 200 career stock car wins but Todd Inman, started 10th, worked his way through and began to battle with Murty and grabbing the lead away on lap six. Inman went on to take his second Stock Car feature win at ISF. Murty came home in second ahead of Fisher, Gary Bass and Donavon Nunnikhoven.
Craig Jacobs and Ben Nading led the field to the green in the Larry Fleck & Sons Trucking IMCA Late Models 18 lap feature event and they would battle for the lead most of the way. Nading lead the first three laps but a caution came out when Charlie McKenna got slideways stacking up the field resulting in Jeremy Grady and Allan Hopp getting together in turn four. Jacobs took the lead away on the restart but Nading took the lead back on lap seven. Jacobs grabbed the top spot one more time on lap ten. The final caution came out on lap 12 for Paul Glendenning in turn two and Jason Hahne on the backstretch. Nading took the lead back on the restart and had to hold off late race challenges from Darrel DeFrance to take the win. Jacobs fell back to third, McKenna was fourth and Ryan Griffith was fifth.

Steven Struck moved up from ninth to third, Lukas Yoder was fourth and Jake Benischek was fifth.
Colton Livezey and Matthew VanGelder started on the front row in the 16 lap IMCA SportMods feature event. Livezey grabbed the lead and Brayton Carter grabbed second. Carter held off Curtis VanDerWal for second, Jason McDaniel and Carter VanDenBerg rounded out the top five.
In the IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, Louis Lynch took the early lead ahead of Nathan Wood and Donnie Pearson. Lynch had to hold off several early race challenges from Wood but then Wood opened the door on lap seven for Derrick Agee and Todd Inman to get by for second and third. Just after the completion of that lap the caution came out for debris in turn one. Lynch now had to hold off Agee and Inman, that was short lived as Agee grabbed the top spot on lap 11. Cayden Carter, started seventh and worked his way to fourth on lap 11 and then third on lap 12. Agee saw the Carter work his way to second by lap 14 and knew he would have to hangout for the remaining distance. Carter took the lead away coming to the white flag and went on to take his third feature win in a row at Osky. Agee, Lynch, Damon Murty and Inman finished second through fifth respectively.
Bradley Graham and Mike Kincaid started the 16 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks feature event on the front row and by lap one it was Kincaid grabbing the top spot. Steve Allen took the lead on lap three but Dustin Griffiths worked his way from tenth to lead by lap five. Griffiths went on to take his second win of the season in Osky ahead of Bill Bonnett, Allen, Danny Thrasher and Brad Stephens.
Final feature of the night was the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event and it was Jason Hall grabbing the lead ahead of Dennis LaVeine. With Hall out front and LaVeine knocking on his back side, Josh Foster was charging up to make it a three car battle for the top spot but on lap seven the caution came out for Foster in turn one. Hall had LaVeine and Shryock right behind him on the restart, Shryock took second away and then took the lead away from Hall on lap nine. Cayden Carter worked his way up to take second from Hall on lap ten. Shryock and Carter ran one and two but then a caution came out just after the completion of lap 18 forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Shryock held off Carter to take the feature win. Colt Mather edged Zack Vanderbeek out for third and LaVeine came home fifth.

Oskaloosa, Iowa (May 18th, 2016) - After taking last week off because of mother nature not cooperating it was back to racing at the Southern Iowa Speedway for KISS 101.5 FM of Ottumwa Night. 64 cars checked in to tame the monster half mile to even the total of races as rain outs at four.
Feature winners included Bill Whalen (IMCA Sport Compacts), Colton Livezey (IMCA SportMods), Cayden Carter (IMCA Stock Cars), Dustin Griffiths (IMCA Hobby Stocks) and Kelly Shryock (IMCA Modifieds).
First feature of the night was the ten lap IMCA Sport Compacts feature. Lincoln Schrock and Bill Whalen led the field to green and the driver nicknamed "Happy Feet" grabbed the top spot. Whalen pulled out to a commanding lead and never looked back in route to taking his first win of the season at Osky. Tenth place starter Cody VanDusen worked his way up to second by lap eight but came up short chasing down Whalen.
Livezey looked to be comfortable out front until lap traffic on lap ten, Livezey did not let that deny him his first win at the Southern Iowa Speedway.
Next Wednesday Night, there will be extra money on the line in all five IMCA Classes thanks to the night's sponsor Bill and Ray's Truck Repair & Wrecker Service. There will also be a Candy Toss at Intermission for the youngsters, thanks to Bill and Ray's. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.

On Tuesday Night decided to make the trek up to the big half mile, the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City for the first ever Central Iowa Stock Car Showdown. 42 Stock Cars, 26 Hobby Stocks and seven Mod Lites signed in.
Cayden Carter won the IMCA Stock Cars, John Watson took the IMCA Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan won the Mod Lites feature event. Both the IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks saw a halfway pit stop.
First feature of the night was the Mod Lites ten lap feature event and it was Randy Bryan taking the early lead and looked to be heading on to the easy win but then the only race caution came out for Dennis Graffunder in turn two. Bryan was not going to let that bother him and held off late race challenges from Josh May. Bryan edged out May at the line by a slim margin for the win. Justin Rankin, Kevin Grisham and Erin Turner rounded out the top five.
Matt Mundt and John Watson started on the front row of the 30 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks feature. Watson grabbed the lead early meanwhile behind him Mundt, Andrew Borchardt and Jamie Songer battled it out for position. The first caution came out on lap six for Tommy Beekman in turn four. Watson held off every challenge in the first half of the race and would lead at the halfway point ahead of Songer, Borchardt, Sommerfeld and Seth Janssen.
Watson continued to lead but the second half of the race struggled to get momentum going as the caution came out just after lap 17 and 18. Watson and the field saw one more caution come out on lap 22 for Ron Downing and Dustin Tapp getting together in turn four. Watson went on to take the win and take home $1,000 for his efforts. Borchardt, Songer, Sommerfeld and Myles Michehl rounded out the top five.
Final feature of the night was the 36 lap IMCA Stock Cars feature event and it was Derek Green and Matt Ring leading the field to the green flag. Green maintained the lead until lap 16 when Cayden Carter, started 12th, took the lead away. Carter lead at the half-way point ahead of Todd Inman, Green, Dan Mackenthun and Steve Meyer.
Carter was only slowed by a caution on lap 25 for Donavon Smith in turn four. Carter would go on and take the car nicknamed "Orange Crush" to the win ahead of Inman, Kevin Opheim, Mackenthun and Jay Schmidt.
