Holladay Dominates the SLMR Late Models During the Gary Wilson Memorial in Osky

Every year, I try to make it back to the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, a track I called home on Wednesday's from 2012–2017. On Wednesday night, I did just that as I attended the Gary Wilson Memorial presented by Outer Limits Truck Repair. Racing action was exciting all night, and it was a rather fun night. Final checkered flag waived at 11:13 p.m. You can watch the replay from last night on Done Right TV

Ninety cars signed in to tame the monster half mile during the Gary Wilson Memorial, including 23 Malvern Bank SLMR Late Models. Besides the Gary Wilson Family and Outer Limits Truck Repair, there were other great sponsors to help increase the purse in the four weekly classes: the Southern Iowa Fairboard & Race Committee, the Wilson Family, C&C Carpentry, Vans Racing, Bunnell Trucking, Bryan & Dakota Claussen, and Big Blue Nutrition of Albia.

The first feature to take to the track was the Dirt N Asphalt Sport Compacts 10-lap feature event. Trent Fowler led the first lap, but Matt Moore took the top spot on lap two. Moore led until lap six, when Nathan Moody worked his way from nineth to the race lead. The field saw the caution come out on lap eight when Moore had his right rear wheel barring break in turn two, ending his night. Moody held off Seth Meinders and Tyler Haring on the restart to take the feature win. Meinders finished second, Haring in third, Fowler in fourth, and Colton Zaputil in fifth.

Andrew Schroeder grabbed the top spot early in the Midstate Machine Stock Cars feature event, fending off Dustin Vis and Cayden Carter. Carter refused to go away and took the top spot away on lap ten. The caution came out for the only time on lap 11 for Brett Maasdam spinning in turn two. Carter held off Schroeder and Maguire DeJong for the final four laps to take the feature win. DeJong finished second, ninth-place starter Nathan Wood in third, Schroeder in fourth, and Vis in fifth.

The Malvern Bank SLMR Late Models 25-lap feature event started off in a wild fashion, as Luke Pestka hit the wall, rode the wall exiting turn two, and when the wall ended, went for a tumble before landing on all four wheels. Pestka climbed out of the car and was okay. On the race restart, Chad Holladay jumped out to the race lead right away, fending off Jeff Tharp and Jason Hahne. The caution came out again on lap 2 for Nick Marolf slowing and then on the restart for Derrick Stewart spinning on the backstretch. Holladay got a great restart and pulled away from the field. The caution came out on lap 23 for Fred Remley in turn four, bunching up the field one final time. Hollada was determined to not be denied the win, his second of the season on the East Series. Tharp, Kyle Berck, Hahne, and Tad Pospisil rounded out the top five.

"Speedy Bray" Brayton Carter's cousin's Carter VanDenBerg hot rod outwrestled Andrew Schroeder for the race lead in the Oskaloosa Quality Rentals Sport Mods 14-lap feature event. Carter remained smooth out front until the caution came out on lap seven for Schroeder spinning in turn two. Carter now had to contend with Maguire DeJong and Logan Anderson on the restart, holding them off initially. DeJong managed to get by Carter on lap nine, though. DeJong went on to take the feature win ahead of Anderson, Carter, Kyle Harwood, and Cory Van Zante.

The final feature of the night was the Parker's Tree Service Hobby Stocks 14-lap feature event. Rick Van Dusseldorp grabbed the top spot earlier, but it was only a matter of time before Dustin Griffiths worked his way from eighth to the top spot. Griffiths took the race lead on lap five and was followed by Eric Stanton. Stanton tried to apply pressure to Griffiths but came up short, allowing Griffiths to pull away. The only race caution came out on lap 13. Griffiths held off Eric Stanton and Peyton Stephens on the restart, meaning the Bounty continues. Stanton finished second, Stephens was third, Tommy Luft was fourth, and Van Dusseldorp fell back to fifth.

Southern Iowa Speedway takes off next Wednesday for the 4th of July Holiday but returns on Wednesday, July 10th, for Dickey Transport and Middlekoop Seed Kids Night. It will also be the rescheduled Hall of Fame induction night for this year's Hall of Fame: Roger Dolan, Howard Gorden Jr., Jake Hughes, and Gary Morse. Midstate Machine Stock Cars, Oskaloosa Quality Rentals Sport Mods, Parker's Tree Service Hobby Stocks, Dirt N Asphalt Sport Compacts, and Tharp Enterprises NAPA Auto Parts Non-Wing Sprints fill out the card. Pits Open at 5 p.m.; Grandstands Open at 5:45 p.m.; Drivers Draw and Hot Laps at 7:15 p.m.; Racing at 7:45 p.m. Pit Passes are $30 for Ages (14 & Up), $15 for Ages (0-13). Then the following Wednesday, July 17th, is the Annual Caleb Hammond Memorial during the Southern Iowa Fair, presented by Copeland Auto Body. Extra money will be on the line in all classes, and that information is to come in the next few days.

Malvern Bank SLMR Late Models continued their four races in four nights swing, 3 on the east series and 1 on the west series. Thursday night, they head to the Cresco Speedway in Cresco for the Mighty Howard County Fair Races, then Friday night at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union on the East Series side. Saturday Night, they head to the Adams County Speedway in Corning for the Gail and Karen Hampel Memorial. The remaining SLMR Races this week will all be live on Dirt Crown TV.

Pierce Wins The Storm Shield Exteriors Monday Madness Shootout In Indee

On Monday night, I decided to make the 85-mile trip up to the Independence Motor Speedway for the Storm Shield Exteriors Shootout, part of the Monday Madness at Indee co-presented by Rydell Auto. The racing action was exciting all night long on the 3/8-mile banked oval, as one hundred-ten cars signed in, including 27 CASE Construction World of Outlaws Late Models. Thanks to the evening sponsors Storm Shield Exteriors and Rydell Auto.

Last year I went to one CASE Construction World of Outlaw Late Models show at Mason City Motor Speedway and was really impressed, so I made it my intention to attend one in 2024, so Independence Motor Speedway was for sure one. I had planned to attend the show in Webster City on Tuesday night as well, but it looks very unlikely I will be able to make it. I do wish Todd and Janet Staley a fantastic show at the Hamilton County Speedway after their announcement of reducing the remaining race nights left this season.

The first feature of the night was the Storm Shield Exteriors Shootout for the CASE Construction World of Outlaws Late Model Series, for a distance of 40 laps. After the field of 27 late models was reduced down to only twenty-four, Matt Ryan and Bobby Hansen broke in qualifying, and Max Hofer took a tumble in his heat race. Bobby Pierce redrew the Bilstein Pole for the feature, but he didn't take command of the top spot. Nick Hoffman took command using the high-side to get by Pierce after Chad Simpson fell out before the start with mechanical issues. The caution came out on lap 2 when Garrett Alberson slowed in turn two. Hoffman got a great restart and pulled away from Pierce. Pierce was followed by Brandon Sheppard. Sheppard used every line on the track to get by Pierce, but came up short. Hoffman then began to encounter lap traffic, and that allowed Pierce to reel him in. Pierce took back the top spot on lap 18, when Hoffman got caught up by a lap car on the high side going over the cushion.

Pierce continued to lead the way and looked to be heading on to the easy win until the final caution came out on lap 33 when Billy Moyer went off the top of turn two. Pierce held off Hoffman and Sheppard on the restart to go on and claim the victory, pocketing $10,000. Sheppard got by Hoffman on the final restart and finished second. Hoffman took third, Cade Dillard took fourth, and Brian Shirley took fifth. Sheppard took back the point lead by 14 points over Hoffman, 90 over Dillard, and 120 over Pierce. Bobby Pierce set the fastest time in Sea Foam Qualifying. Pierce, Sheppard, and Chad Simpson won the heat races.

Cole Mather grabbed the top spot early in the Christie Door Company IMCA Stock Cars 20-lap feature event, fending off Dakota Sellers and Vern Jackson. Just as Mather got some separation, the caution came out when Terry "Scooter" Dulin spun in turn three. Mather had a great restart, pulled away before being reeled back in just before the cautions log jammed the last half of the race. Lap 13 saw a pair of cautions, first for Jackson sliding off the top turn two and then when Sellers spun after contact from Dustin Vis on the restart exiting turn four. Mather was determined to not be fazed, but again, the caution came out on lap 14 for Kevin Rose and Riley Hanson in turn two. One final caution came out on lap 16 when Kaden Reynolds spun in turn two; Hannah Chesmore and Leah Wroten got caught up in the incident. Mather held off Damon Murty and Tanner Allen on the restart to take the feature win. Murty finished second, Tom Schmitt got by Allen for third, putting Allen in fourth, and twelfth-place starter Jarod Weepie was fifth.

Tom Berry Jr. and Jeff Aikey led the field to green in the Waterloo Auto Parts IMCA Modifieds 20-lap feature event. Berry quickly jumped out to the lead and pulled away from the rest of the field. Aikey and Ethan Braaksma battled out for second and third. Berry had no troubles with lap traffic, and the only thing slowing him down was the only race caution on lap 15. Berry got a great retart and again checked out, cruising on to claim the feature win. Braaksma out-dueled Aikey on the restart to take runner-up honors. Aikey finished third, tenth-place starter Tim Ward took fourth, and Milton, Florida's Owen Barnhill finished fifth.

The final feature of the night was the 16-lap Performance Bodies and Parts IMCA Hobby Stocks feature event. Bradly Graham out-wrestled Joren Fisher for the top spot early. Graham pulled away slightly, but Fisher refused to go away and went right back to the back bumper of Graham. The only caution came out on lap seven for Trenton Neuhaus going off the top of turn one. Graham and Fisher continued to battle for the race lead, with Graham remaining in position 1 until the final lap. Fisher forced Graham up the race track, giving Fisher just the opportunity to get by for the race lead. Fisher took the feature win ahead of Zach McNeese, Graham, Jim Ball Jr., and Solomon Bennett.

Next race at the Independence Motor Speedway is another Monday Night Madness on July 1st for People's Company Night featuring the Pro Late Model Victory Ford Tour Late Models. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts also compete. Gates Open at 4p, Hot Laps at 6:30p, Racing to Follow.

World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Models head to the Karl Chevrolet Buick GMC Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City on Tuesday night and will be joined by USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks. Then they head to I-94 EMR Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Thursday night, River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday Night and Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minnesota on Saturday. Next week they are the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50.

World of Outlaw CASE Construction Late Models head to the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota on Thursday (originally scheduled for Wednesday but mother nature forced it to be postponed to Thursday), River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday and I-94 EMR Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

McBirnie, Murty, Anderson, Stanton, Sonner, Bunch, and Cox are Victorious on Midwest Liquid Systems Night in Motown

The Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway saw one hundred-fourty-seven cars sign in to tame the high bank quarter mile on Midwest Liquids Systems Night at the races. It was picture perfect, with a southerly breeze keeping things from feeling extremely hot. The racing action was hot and heavy all night long. They ran two, three, and four times throughout the night under the Strawberry Full Moon; the first green flag was waived at 7:30 p.m., and the final checkered flag was waived at 10:36 p.m.

Midwest Liquid Systems of Eldora specializes in the sales, installation, and service of convenience stores, service stations, bulk plants, airports, and automobile dealership equipment. They also have DOT-approved VAC services. Call them at 1-800-430-0175 or 641-858-2668.

The first feature of the night was the IMCA STARS Mod Lites 15-lap feature event presented by Knight Sanitation. Cory Sonner jumped out to the race lead early, with Jason Masengarb running second. Sonner continued to lead as the battle for second heated up between Charlie Brown and Masengarb. Brown took second as Masengarb exited to the infield. Brown reeled in Sonner and began to battle him for the top spot. Brown took the lead away on lap 11. The only race caution came on lap 13 for Brittani Dominguez spinning in turn one right in front of Brown, resulting in Brown making contact and exiting to the infield. Sonner regained the lead and held off Jon Padilla on the restart to take the feature win. Padilla, tenth-place starter Josh May, Alex Eischeid, and Joe Glick round out the top five.

Damon Murty out-wrestled Jared Daggett for the race lead in the Drury Automotive and Truck Repair IMCA Stock Cars 20-lap feature event. Murty pulled away as Daggett battled with Scott Rice and Jay Schmidt. Schmidt grabbed second away from Daggett on lap four and ran there as Daggett was third until late in the race. Behind them were Michael Jaennette, Maguire DeJong, and Points Leader Jimmy Gustin. The caution came out on lap 16 for debris on the front stretch and then again a lap later on lap 17 when Kaden Reynolds spun in turn three after contact from Tyler Pickett. Murty held off any challengers on the restart to claim his second win in Motown this season. Daggett came home second, Gustin finished third, Jaennette was fourth, and Rice was fifth.

Rugged Radios IMCA Friesen Performance Northern Sport Mods was up next for their 20-lap feature event, and this week they were better behaved than the week before. Tony Olson held off Will Wolf early to lead the first three laps, but that was short-lived as Logan Anderson took the top spot away on lap four when Olson left the door open. Anderson fended off Olson, but the caution came out on lap 5 when Sierra Rose Gary slid off the top of turns one and two. Anderson got a great restart and pulled away, as Olson now had to battle with Matt Avila, Brayton Carter, and Dylan VanWyk. The caution came out again on lap 11 when Gary spun in turn four in front of the race leader, Anderson. Anderson held off Avila, Olson, and VanWyk on the restart and went on to claim his first feature win this year in Motown. Avila, VanWyk, Olson, and Carter rounded out the top five.

Next up was the Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Friesen Performance Modifieds 20-lap feature event for $1,000 to win, making it a Fast Shaft All-Star Invitational Qualifier. Jake McBirnie outdueled Jerry Flippo for the top spot early. McBirnie pulled away as Tripp Gaylord and Johnathon Logue worked by Flippo for second and third. The caution came out on lap eight for Izac Mallicoat spinning in turn one, and then on the following restart when Garrett Wilson, Paul Nagle, David Brown, and Zachary Madrid got together in turns one and two. McBirnie held off Gaylord and Logue on the restart, but just after lap nine was scored, the caution came out one more time when Griffin Taylor spun in turn two. McBirnie again held off Gaylord and Logue on the restart and fended off any challenge to take the feature win. Gaylord finished second, Logue was third, Drew Janssen driving Ethan Braaksma's ride was fourth, and twelfth-place starter Tom Berry Jr. was fifth.

The initial start of the Cappy's Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks 20-lap feature event was called back when DJ Robinson was deemed to jump the start. Robinson encountered a flat tire and exited the pit area on the restart. Ben Newhouse took the top spot and led the first two laps before Corey VanDerWilt, back in his own car, took the top spot away on lap three. VanDerWilt pulled away as the battle heated up behind him, but the caution came out on lap seven when Briar Kriegel spun in turn four. VanDerWilt had to battle with Zach McNeese and Solomon Bennett on the restart. McNeese took the top spot away on lap nine. Eric Stanton worked his way from twelfth to take the top spot away on lap 12. The caution came out again on lap 13 for Brandon Bombardo and Chad Rickett Jr. in turn two. Stanton had to contend with McNeese and Calvin Dhondt, but he fended them off until one final caution on lap 15 for Aidan Lamasters spinning in turn one, avoiding making contact with Bennett, who initially spun but kept going. Stanton held on to claim the victory ahead of Sam West, McNeese, Dhondt, and Bennett.

"Ricky Bobby" Mitchell Bunch led from start to finish in the Hy-Vee of Marshalltown IMCA Sport Compacts 15-lap feature event. That was win number three for Bunch in Motown. Michael Gardner grabbed second early and settled in there. Jeremy Williams came home in third, Kinzer Jaennette out dueled Cristian Grady for fourth, putting Grady in fifth.

The final feature of the night was the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Truck Series 15-lap feature event. Brandon Cox out-wrestled Brandon Toftee for the race lead early. Toftee refused to go away, but a slight bobble let Cox pull away. Cox looked to be heading to an easy win, but Tyler Inman worked his way by Toftee for second and started to reel in Cox. Cox held on to claim the feature win, his second series win this season. Inman finished second, Toftee was third, Austin Meiners, driving Del Eno's truck, was fourth, and Mason Mitchell was fifth.

Next Friday night at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway, its RBF Electric and Mid-State Boring Night at the races. Murty Captures Feature Win, McBirnie Takes Structural Shootout on P&D Welding Solutions Night

As some race tracks close down or go to a limited amount of racing because of car counts, it's nice to see a race track still running strong on Friday nights in the area. This weekend, there were some options for some racing as NASCAR race weekend went on at Iowa Speeway with the ARCA Menards Series racing and Knoxville Raceway running the first of two nights during the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.

Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway ran its normal Friday night race action on the high bank quarter mile for P&D Welding Solutions and 1-800 BETS OFF night at the races. One hundred twenty-four cars checked in on Friday night, including 21 IMCA Modifieds for $1,000 to win plus $500 to win P&D Welding Solutions Modified Structural Shootout. The racing action feature was either caution-filled or the action was filled with excitement, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Racing began at 7:35 p.m., and the final checkered flag was waived at 10:56 p.m.

P&D Welding Solutions LLC of Nevada is your professional welding service, offering welding, custom fabrication, and installation welding shop. Give them a call at 515-297-4147. If you or a loved one has a gambling or sports betting problem, call 1-800 BETS OFF from your partners at Your Life Iowa.

Following the heat race action, it was time for the P&D Welding Solutions Structural Shootout. The quarterfinal round saw Izac Mallicoat, Todd Shute, Joel Rust, and Jake McBirnie take the wins, with Tripp Gaylord, Ronn Lauritzen, Johnathon Logue, and Dallon Murty finishing second. The semifinals saw Mallicoat and Rust take the victories, with Gaylord and McBirnie in second. The final round saw McBirnie grab the victory for $500 to win and a custom-built trophy from P&D Welding Solutions. Gaylord finished second, taking home $300; Rust was third, grabbing $200; and Mallicoat was fourth, getting $100 for his effort.

The first feature of the night was the Knight Sanitation IMCA STARS Mod Lites 15-lap feature event. Cory Sonner jumped out of the race lead, fending off Joe Glick and Alex Eischeid early. Sonner pulled away from the field and looked to be heading on to the race win, despite Jon Padilla and Josh May reeling him in ever so slightly. The caution came out on lap nine when Eischeid spun in turn four. Sonner held on to the lead another lap, but May got his line to work and grabbed the top spot on lap eleven. However, Padilla made it a three-car battle for the top spot. The caution came out on lap 13 for Garrett Barber in turn four, forcing a green-white-checkered restart. May held off Padilla and Sonner to take his first win in Motown this season. Padilla finished second, Sonner was third, Eischeid came back to finish fourth, and Glick was fifth.

Rugged Radios IMCA Friesen Performance Sport Mods had a little trouble getting laps under their belts as the caution came out on the initial start when Josalyn Elmquist, Jonathan Jensen, and Curt Smeins got hooked up in turn four and Hunter Clement came to a stop in turn two. The following restart saw it come out for Sierra Rose Gary and Hunter Clement spinning in turn one. Camdan Vincent took the top spot early when the race finally got rolling with racing, but the caution came out again on lap two for Gary in turn two. Vincent had Matt Avila and Brayton Carter on the back bumper on the restart, and it was Carter that took the top spot away on lap four. The red flag came out when Elmquist and William Klosterman went off the top of turn three and needed assistance from the wreckers. Carter got a great restart and checked out from the rest of the field, and not lap traffic slowed him down, but a late race caution lap 17 bunched the field back up. Carter held off all challengers on the restart to claim his third win of the season at Motown. Kyle Olson and Vincent were second and third, respectively. Will Wolf came across in fourth but was docked 2 spots for deck height in tech, so that moved Jensen to fourth and VanZante to fifth.

Next up on the speedway was the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" Drury Automotive and Truck Repair IMCA Stock Cars 20-lap feature event. Garrett Corn led the first lap before Todd Reitzler took the lead on lap two when Corn slid off the top of turns three and four. The caution came out shortly after for Corn. Steve Meyer took the top spot on the restart and held off Reitzler and Michael Jaennette. The caution came out for the final time on lap six for Austin Kaplan. Meyer again held off Reitzler and Jaennette, and then later for eleventh-place starter Jimmy Gustin. Meyer went on to claim his first feature win of the season in Motown. Gustin, Jaennette, Reitzler, and twelfth-place starter Jeff Mueller rounded out the top five.

Dallon Murty used the experience of just running the Stock Cars to grab the top spot in the Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Friesen Performance Modifieds 20-lap feature event for $1,000 to win. Murty fended off Todd Shute early before pulling away slightly, when Murty began to encounter lap traffic that allowed Shute to reel him back in. Murty and Shute traded sliders, with Murty maintaining the race lead at the start-finish line. Murty held on to claim the victory. Shute finished second, Johnathon Logue came home third, Joel Rust came in fourth, and Izac Mallicoat came in fifth.

The Cappy's Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks lived up to the name of the "Wild Thing" Hobby Stocks in their 20-lap feature event. The initial start was called off when Derrick McNeece jumped the start and Kale Hemsley spun in turn four. Chad Legere grabbed the top spot on the restart, fending off Dustin Filloon, but shortly after lap one was scored, the caution came out for Chad Rickett Jr. in turn four. Legere maintained the lead on the restart, but again, a caution came out shortly after on lap two when McNeece spun in turn four. Another caution on lap four for Aidan Lamasters going off the top of turn two. Legere continued to lead until "Flyin' Fireman" Calvin Dhondt worked his way from tenth to the top three using a line nobody else was running. Dhondt took the top spot away on lap six, then checked out of the field. The only thing appearing to slow him down was the lap traffic until a caution came out, forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Dhondt held off Eric Knutson and Cory VanDerWilt, driving Bradly Graham's backup, on the restart to go on and take his third win in Motown this season. Knutson, VanDerWilt, Solomon Bennett, and Bradly Graham rounded out the top five.

The final feature of the night was the Hy-Vee of Marshalltown IMCA Sport Compacts 15-lap feature event. David Kimmel led the first four laps before Hannibal, Missouri, driver Dyllan Bonk took the top spot away after a three-car battle between Kimmel, Bonk, and Mitchell Bunch. Bonk pulled away and took the easy victory. Devin Jones came home second, Michael Gardner came home third, Kimmel was fourth, and Cristian Grady came home fifth.

Next Friday night at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway, the IMCA Modifieds will be $1,000 to win again on Midwest Liquid Systems Night. McBirnie and Kuehl Take Topless Dirty 30s and Braden Gifford Nabs 1st Career Win in Boone

After announcing the topless beauties at Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night, I decided I should head to Iowa's Action Track, Boone Speedway, for night two of the Capital Signs Company Twin Topless Dirty 30s weekend to take some pictures and, of course, write this blog recap. It was picture-perfect, and as always, the track was in fantastic shape, creating some exciting racing action.

One hundred-fifty-four cars signed in for Capital Signs Twin Topless Dirty 30s Night, including 28 IMCA Modifieds for $1,200 to win and 29 IMCA Sport Mods for $1,000 to win. There was side-by-side racing throughout the night, exciting late-race endings, and tempers flared. Racing wrapped up at 11:00 p.m. when the final checkered flag from Flagman Logan Kelly.

The first feature of the night was the Carquest Auto, Truck, and Farm IMCA STARS Mod Lites 15-lap feature event. Charlie Brown grabbed the top spot early and cruised away from the rest of the field as they battled it out until the caution came out on lap six for Tracen Glick spinning at the top of turn four. Brown was not fazed and held off Cory Sonner, tenth-place starter Josh May, and Mike Kennedy on the restart. A lap later, though, the red flag came out on lap seven when Kennedy barrel rolled down the front stretch before coming to a rest in the infield. Kennedy climbed from the very battered race car. Brown again held off May and Sonner to go on and take victory. Sonner finished second, May in third, thirteenth-place starter Bryan Zehm in fourth, and Ben George in fifth.

Taylor Kuehl and Curtis Veber led the field to the green flag in the Elmquist Towing IMCA Friesen Performance Northern Sport Mods topless 30-lap feature event presented by Capital Signs. Kuehl out-wrestled Veber and held off Cory Pestotnik and Hunter Longnecker before pulling away. Kuehl appeared to be heading on to take the easy victory, but lap traffic slowed her down, allowing the others to chase her back down. The only race caution came out on lap 20 when Kyle Free spun in turns three and four. Kuehl held off Longecker and Willy Kirk on the restart and went on to claim the $1,000 top prize and the victory. Kirk came home in second, Longnecker in third, Dusty Masolini in fourth, and Logan Anderson in fifth.

Next up on the speedway was the D&E Outdoor Services IMCA Friesen Performance Modifieds topless 30-lap feature event. Trevor Fitz, originally from Camarillo, California, but now calls Iowa home, grabbed the race lead early. The first caution came out on lap three for James Reichart and Dave Finstad spinning on the front- stretch near turn one. Fitz got a great restart and looked strong out front until another caution came out on lap 10. The caution was for Izac Mallicoat off the top of turns one and two. Fitz held off Jimmy and Richie Gustin on the restart, flexing his muscles, but slipped up on lap 13, allowing Richie Gustin to take the top spot away. Richie Gustin led the way until Fitz regained the lead on lap 18. Fitz led the way until lap 26, when he experienced mechanical issues, handing the lead over to Jake McBirnie, who had gotten by Richie Gustin. McBirnie held off Richie Gustin to take the feature win worth $1,200. Richie Gustin, seventeenth-place starter Cory Sauerman, Jimmy Gustin, and Riley Simmons rounded out the top five.

Bryan Snell led the first lap of the Boone Moose Lodge 104 IMCA Stock Cars 20-lap feature event. Craig Carlson led the second lap, but it was "The Bobcat," Johnathon Logue, who took the top spot on lap three. Logue was comfortable out front until cautions plagued the race just after halfway. The first caution came out on lap 11 when Jason Vansickel spun in turn four, then on the restart for debris in turn four. Logue held off David Smith and Buck Schafroth, but another caution came out on lap 12 when Austin Bouzek hit the wall exiting turn two before coming to a rest on the backstretch. The final caution came out on lap 13 when Kevin Opheim and Alan VanGorp were in turns three and four. Logue remained tough and held off Schaforth and David Smith to take the feature win. David Smith, Schaforth, eleventh-place starter Jay Schmidt, and thirteenth-place starter Tyler Pickett completed the top five.

The final feature of the night was the Pickett Salvage IMCA Hobby Stocks 15-lap feature event. Hobby Stocks have been known as the Wild Thing, and on Saturday night, they lived up to that name as twenty-four cars took green and only ten finished. Aron Fye outwrestled Garrett Croy for the race lead. Fye checked out of the field until lap ten, when eighteenth-place starter Mike Smith took the top spot away. Shortly after, cautions came out. The first caution on lap nine was for Seth Butler having something break or lock up in the front end of his car, forcing him to a dead stop. John Watson and Andrew Burg had no where to go and got picked up. Smith continued to lead until cautions came out on lap 11, first one for Keith Burg and Curt Reed spinning, then on the restart when Smith was spun by Eric Knutson in turn two, sending Smith to the tail and Knutson black-flagged for questionable driving. That gave the lead over to Wayne Gifford, but McNeill took it away on lap 12, but that was short-lived as he bobbled, allowing Wayne Gifford and his son Braden Gifford to get by prior to a caution. The final caution came out on lap 13, but this one would end up being a red flag as Solomon Bennett would roll in turn two. Wayne Gifford appeared to have regained the lead, but he would have to head to the work area for a flat tire, and that handed the lead over to Braden Gifford. Braden Gifford held off Smith for the last two laps to take his first career feature win. Smith finished second, Joe Doran in third, McDonald in fourth, and Seth Janssen in fifth.

Next Saturday night at the Boone Speedway, the Saturday Night Weekly Racing Series continues with Farley's Pre-Owned Night. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Mod Lites, and Cruisers all take to Iowa's Action Track. Pits Open at 4:30 p.m., Grandstands Open at 5:30 p.m., Hot Laps at 6 p.m., and Racing at 7 p.m.

Grandstands are $15 for adults, youth (13–17) are $5, and kids (12 and under) are free. Pit passes are $30. You can catch all the racing action at the Boone Speedway in person or on IMCA.tv.
