VanDerWal won the Australian Pursuit for the SportMods and Nathan Wood won the Stock Car King of the Hill.
After all the qualifying heat races was completed there was two special races and the first one was the Sport Mod Australian Pursuit. The format for the Australian Pursuit was simple once passed you were done, to be eligible u had to finish top four in your heat race. Curtis VanDerWal started dead last and passed every car by lap three to claim the win and $100 plus a trophy.
The Stock Car King of the Hill was next and the final three was Damon Murty, Shane Weller and Nathan Wood. They started the three lap dash three wide and it was Nathan Wood grabbing the lead. Wood took the win along with $150 and a trophy. Murty took $50 home for finishing second and Weller was third.
First feature of the night was the KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMods 16 lapper and it was Leroy Groenendyk taking the lead on lap one. Groenenedyk's lead was short lived because Charlie Weber took the lead away on lap two. Weber led but Cory Van Zante grabbed the top spot away on lap five. Van Zante looked to be heading on to the win however lap traffic slowed him down and that allowed Track Point Leader Curtis VanDerWal to chase him down. VanDerWal made the move and completed the pass on the final lap to take his 5th win of the season at SIS. VanDerWal had his engine claimed by Brett Lowry and he sold. Van Zante finished second, Brayton Carter was third, Logan Anderson was fourth and Brett Lowry was fifth.
William Michel and John Girdley started on the front row of the 12 lap IMCA Sport Compact and it was Girdley grabbing the opening lap lead. Bill Whalen Jr started outside row two and he would grab the top lead away on lap two and held off a late race charge from his brother John Whalen to take his second win at Osky. Girdley, Michel and Trent Orwig rounded out the top five.
Just like he did two weeks ago, Jason See grabbed the early lead in the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature event but it was short lived because Cayden Carter took the top spot away on lap two. Carter saw the yellow come out on lap five when Taylor Inman spun in turn one. The caution came out two laps later for Mike Brown, Terry Clayton and Donnie Pearson in turn four. Carter held off challenges from Nathan Wood, Brad Pinkerton and Damon Murty for his second win. Pinkerton finished second, Murty was third, Wood was fourth and Mike Hughes was fifth.
In the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature, it was Steve Allen leading the opening lap shortly after the caution came out for Dale Porter in turn one. Allen continued to lead include through a caution on lap four for debris but on lap six, Bill Bonnett grabbed the top spot away. Bonnett saw the caution come out on lap nine for Allen on the back-stretch and then just as they were going green, Danny Thrasher slowed in turn three. Bonnett held on to the lead until lap 11 when Dustin Griffiths took the lead away. Griffiths and Bonnett battled the final four laps but it was Griffiths taking his third win of the season. Craig Brown, Nick Ulin and Jamie Songer finished third through fifth respectively.
Final feature of the night was the 18 lap Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds feature and it was Greg Cox and Brandon Banks leading the field to the green. Roberts and Pruitt $1,000 Winners at Bones/Ron Little Memorial and Stock Car Shootout
Sunday Night at the Stuart Speedway was a exciting night and a very emotional night all in one. The racing was exciting all night and left fans on the edge of there seats and all the moisture stayed away and I think thats because of Richard "Bones" Welch and Ron Little making sure the event was going to have no issues because it rained every where around Stuart. Besides being the Bones/Ron Little Memorial it was also the Stew Hansen Stock Car Shootout.
Travis Stensland led from start-to-finish in the 20 lap Mod Lites feature event. Joel Huggins finished second, Mike Morrill was third, Josh May was fourth and Randy Bryan was fifth.
Before a lap was completed in the 15 lap IMCA Northern SportMods feature, the caution came out for Kody Havens, Dusti Carlisle and Kyle Tanner in turns three and four. When the race got going it was Chase Rudolf grabbing the lead but just after two laps was complete the caution came out for Hunter Weber in turn four. Rudolf continued to lead until Havens worked his way back through the field to take the lead over on lap six just before a pair of cautions. Havens continued to lead until Clint Luellen made the move and took over the top spot away coming to the white flag. Luellen took the win over Dusty Masolini, Lynn Brockett, Matt Hays and Rudolf.
Cory Flanigan making the pull down from Storm Lake led all ten laps in the IMCA Sport Compacts feature. Track Point Leader Jacob Reiter finished second, Curtis Miller was third, Jacob Peters was fourth and Kevin Staack was fifth.
Buck "Wild" Schaforth grabbed the early lead in the 15 lap IMCA Hobby Stocks feature but it was Austin Luellen grabbing the lead away on lap three and never looking back. Luellen took the win after going for a wild ride just the night before in Harlan. Shannon Anderson came home second with John Watson in third. Cory Adams and Schaforth finished fourth and fifth respectively.
After his father Terry Pruitt decided not to race on Sunday and asked him to drive, Josh Pruitt grabbed the lead in the 25 lap Stew Hansens Stock Car Shootout feature and even three early cautions did not faze him. Pruitt held off several challenges from Brian Blessington, Jay Schmidt, Marcus Fagen and Brandon Pruitt to take the win.
Final feature of the night was the 25 lap Ron Little Memorial for the IMCA Modifieds and before a lap was completed the caution came out when Josh Gilman and Jason Murray got together in turn one. Jacob Murray grabbed the lead when the race restarted but the caution came out again on lap two for a couple of incidents. Murray still maintained the lead until lap 19 when Nick Roberts took the lead away. Roberts and the field saw the caution come out for the final time on lap 21 for Cole Ferguson coming to a stop in turn two. Roberts held off challenges to take the $1,000 win. Luke Wanninger took second away from Murray. Todd Shute and Jimmy Gustin rouned out the top five.
Next week will be Avey Sanitation Night at the Races. We will have our 5 regular IMCA classes and we can’t wait for another great night of side by side racing! See you then!

Schatz Wins Fog Shorten World Of Outlaws at Knoxville
The decision was made to go to the Knoxville Raceway for World of Outlaws Mediacom Shootout and what a day/night/morning it was as mother nature could not make up their mind. It was Sunny, Overcast, Rainy and then Foggy at the end but it was Ryan Giles getting the win in the 360 Sprints and Donny Schatz in the fog shorten 410 Sprints. 305 Sprints had the night off but it was nice to get to see McKenna Haase through out the night. If you have not met McKenna, you really should she is a very sweet young lady and loves to meet everybody.
In Time Trials for 360 Sprints it was Tony Shilling having the quick time of 15.977. Justin Henderson was second fastest with a 16.134.
World Of Outlaws implemented a new qualifying format Saturday Night if there was more than 32 cars they would run two groups of qualifying and split the heat races the same way. In Group one, it was "The Madman" Kerry Madsen with a quick time of 15.388 and Justin Henderson was second fastest with a 15.499 and Danny Lasoski was 3rd with 15.618. In Group Two, Joey Saldana was quickest with a 15.591 and Daryn Pittman was second with 15.711. Knoxville Regular Lynton Jeffrey was third with a 15.743.
Jamie Ball, Sawyer Phillips and Russ Hall won 360 Sprint Heats. Donny Schatz, Brian Brown, Ian Madsen and Terry McCarl won the World Of Outlaws Heats. Schatz also took the 6 lap Dash meanwhile Logan Schuchart and Joey Saldana won the b-mains with Saldana setting a new 12 lap record.
Nate Van Haaften took the lead in the 360 Sprints feature and appeared to be heading on to the win but lap got heavy that allowed Tony Shilling to chase him down but they would make contact and both go for a wild ride coming out of turn four on lap ten. Both would climb out and walk away, the night was done for both though. That gave the lead over to Ryan Giles and he led the rest of the way. Dustin Clark, Matt Moro, Joe Beaver and Justin Henderson rounded out the top five. Clint Garner, Jon Agan, Russ Hall, Randy Martin and Calvin Landis rounded out the top ten.
Donny Schatz on the pole and lead until the caution came out on lap eight for Davey Heskin coming to a stop in the bottom side of turn four. Schatz continued to lead but by lap 15, chief starter Doug Clark displayed the yellow flag because he deemed it not safe to continue because of the Fog. After asking the drivers if it was okay or not many decided to call it a race and declare Schatz the winner. Justin Henderson tried to get by Schatz a few times but settled for a second place finish. Kerry Madsen, Brian Brown and Ian Madsen finished third through fifth. Joey Saldana, Sammy Swindell, Lynton Jeffrey, Daryn Pittman and Brad Sweet rounded out the top ten.

Action Packed Friday Night at the Iowa State Fair Speedway
After Marshalltown Speedway cancelled Friday Night for standing water in the infield from the 2.5 inches of rain Thursday Night and early Friday Morning the decision was made to make the hour drive to the Iowa State Fair Speedway presented by Hy-Vee Fueled by Casey's for a night of racing. The orginal plan was to watch the races and tweet results through out the night from the grandstand but at 6:15, I got asked to come down and announce races all night.
By the time i got down to my car grabbed my equipment and came around to the pit shack, Ross Peterson, one of the track announcer was there so we co-announced as Ross's normal partner Scott Casber had the night off. I had a lot of fun thanks to Josh Reynolds, Tony Moro, Paula Moro, Ross and Debbie Sweeney for asking me to come over and join in the stand.
As Ross and myself were making our way down to the infield the Racesaver Sprint Cars ran the final 4 laps from last weeks feature where Tyler Thompson picked up the checkers ahead of Clint Benson, Matt Moro, Michael Johnston and Bob Hildreth.
Also running make up features was the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Late Models. It the Modifieds, Brandon Kern led the first half the race before John Davis made the pass and took the top spot away. Davis took the win over Kern, Matt Waugh, Tyler Vandekamp and Todd Shute.
Stock Cars make-up feature saw Steve Hill dominate and take the win despite several challenges from Daniel Gordon. Ronald Bougher, Tommy Killen and Don Wear round out the top five.
The final make-up feature was the IMCA Late Models and it was Daulton Maassen leading all 14 laps in the feature that was called short when there was a 40 minute delay for the ambulance to return to the track after taking Craig Jacobs to the hospital for further observations after hitting the inside wall hard on the back stretch. Charlie McKenna finish 2nd, Paul Nagle was third, Ryan Griffith was fourth and Paul Glendenning was fifth.
During the wait for the ambulance to return a very light drizzle came down but the race track was not damaged by it and after race cars and push trucks rolled in racing resumed as soon as the ambulance was back.
Austin Kaplan jumped out to the early lead in the IMCA SportMods feature but a couple of cautions mid race slowed the event but it was Kaplan was not fazed until the final lap when Glenn Gladson Jr made the move and took the lead away. Gladson took the win with Jack Housley taking second away from Kaplan, who ended up in third. Taylor Musselman and Jonathan Logue rounded out the top five.
Pat Gordin and Anthony Moro started on the front row of the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks feature but it was neither one of them leading as Matt Moro, started sixth had the lead by the exit of turn two. Matt Moro led the entire distance to take the win but held off several challenges from Damon Murty. Gordin was third, Anthony Moro was fourth and Rick Clark was fifth.
Cory Adams took the early lead in the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature but it was Rex Bonnett taking the lead away on lap three just before a caution came out on lap four. Bonnett continued to lead until Shannon Anderson worked his way through the field to take the lead over. Anderson went on to take the win over Kevin Fee, Brandon Cox, Matt Smith and Tommy Killen Jr.
Tyler Thompson led the entire distance in the IMCA Racesaver Sprint Cars to claim back-to-back wins. Matt Moro finished runner up, Clint Benson was third, Michael Johnston was fourth and Bob Hildreth was fifth.

Rookie Matt Webb led the first eight laps of the IMCA Modifieds before John Davis took the lead away. Davis went on to take the checkers meanwhile Webb fell back to fourth after Todd Shute and Scott Davis passed him. Tyler Vandekamp came home fifth.

Haase Wins Again at Knoxville on Slideways Karting Center Night
After waiting to see what Mother Nature decided to do i made the decision to drive down to the Sprint Car Capital World in the Knoxville Raceway for Slideways Karting Center Night where 93 cars signed in to race.
Quick times was set at 15.286 in the 410 Sprints by "The Dude" Danny Lasoski, Justin Henderson with a 16.144 in the 360's and 18 year old McKenna Haase set quick time in 305 Sprints with a 17.568.
Heat Winners in the 305 Sprints included Tanner Edwards, Kade Higday and Mitchell Alexander. 360 Sprints heats went to Henderson, Nate Van Haaften and Jack Dover. Matt Moro, Dustin Selvage, Kraig Kinser and Brian Brown.
After a quick intermission the b-mains in both the 360's and 410's came on to the track and it was Matt Moro winning the b-main in the 360's meanwhile after fixing a drive line, "T-Mac" Terry McCarl won the b-main in the 410's.
McKenna Haase led the entire way in the 305 Sprints feature that was shortened from 12 laps to ten laps because of a handful of cautions. First caution came out when Bob Weuve got in to the turn two fence. On lap three, Trevor Smith, running fourth at the time, flipped in turn one. Devin Kline broke a dragline on lap four in turn four, Josh Jones spun in turn one on lap six and Kevin Hetrick rolled in turn two on lap eight. At this point the time had expired forcing track crew to call for a green-white-checkered. Stacey Alexander finished a close second, Christian Bowman was third, Kade Higday, Matthew Stelzer, Ben Woods, Mike Mayberry, Brad Comegys, Jeff Wilke and Tanner Edwards rounded out the top ten.

A lap later the caution came out again on lap seven for Tasker Phillips spinning on the front stretch after he avoided to hit Nate Van Haaften. Henderson restarted ahead of Billy Alley and Russ Hall. Hall experienced damage after contact from Clint Garner on lap nine forcing the final stoppage. Henderson pulled away but "Rockin Roll" Billy Alley chase down Henderson and when Henderson lost some momentum in traffic. Alley took the win with Henderson finishing second. Van Haaften, Garner and Tony Shilling rounded out the top five. Calvin Landis, Joe Beaver, Jack Dover, hard-charger Matt Moro and Jon Agan finished sixth through tenth.
