Exciting Racing Action on Poweshiek Co Farm Bureau Night at Brooklyn

There may have been a heat advisory on Saturday but I think the only thing that was hotter than the actual weather was the racing action on the bullring of the Brooklyn Raceway. There was two, three and four wide racing through out the night. Thrills and exciting moments occur from the drop of the first green flag to the final checkered flag.

Poweshiek County Farm Bureau was the sponsor for the evening as they hosted their Family Fun Night. Eighty-Six Cars signed in to race at the Brooklyn Raceway with fifteen Front Wheel Drive, ten Micro Sprints, six JR Front Wheel Drive, fourteen Cruisers, nine Hobby Stocks, five Trucks; twelve Stock Figure 8, six Open Figure 8 and nine Pro Stock Figure 8.  Final Checkered flag at 10:28pm

First feature of the night was the Micro Sprints 20 lap feature event but before a lap was scored the caution came out when Josh Moffitt lost his left rear wheel coming to the green flag. Michael Lange wrestled the lead away for Dakota Young when the race got going and fend off challenges from Tyler Lee until the caution came out again on lap five when Justin Smith spun in turn four. Lange experienced issues and went to the back giving the lead over to Lee, however Lee was unable to lead an official lap as Travis Rewerts took over the top spot. Rewerts pulled away until the caution came out on lap 12 when Dallas Darnell stalled in turn one. Rewerts held off Lee on the restart and going on to take his fourth win in Brooklyn. Lee finished second, Derrike Clark finished third, Smith came back to finish fourth, Bill Livezey was fifth.

Before a lap was scored in the 12 lap Trucks Figure Eight feature event, Jerry Moffitt clipped a tire resulting in him tipping over on his side in turn three. Dave Sellers grabbed the early race lead and got a little seperation until the red flag came out when Deal Keasling blew up and caught fire just past the flag stand. Sellers experienced issues himself two laps later allowing Mark Ruggles to take over the lead. Ruggles went on to take the win, Moffitt came back to finish second, Michelle Keasling finished third. Sellers and Deal Keasling finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Brandan Long got redemption in the 12 lap Hobby Stock feature, as he led from start to finish. Long fending off several challenges from Jacob Lehman to take the his third win. Lehman finished second ahead of Leroy Kline, Jerry Glass, Preston Kline and Larry Routh Jr.

Junior Front Wheel Drive 8 lap feature was next up and unfortunately Dylan Zuck and Addalyn Stevens was not able to compete in the feature after mechanical issues sideline them for the rest of the night. Addasyn Spain wrestled the early race lead from DJ Albertson. Spain held off challenges from Braelynn Long. Long was driving a back-up car after she rolled when something broke in the right rear during the heat race. Long took over the lead when Spain experienced issues on lap seven. Long went on to take her first ever win ahead of Blaine Kriegel, DJ Albertson and Spain.

Laverne Lehman / Jacob Lehman grabbed the early lead in the 12 lap Cruisers feature event but they quickly followed by Austin Schuring / Ray Hill. Schruing / Hill took the lead away on lap five and held off Lehman / Lehman while dodging lap traffic to take the win. Lehman / Lehman finished second, Corey Vanderwilt / Brett Maasdam finished third, Mark Schuring / Jarrett Utterback was fourth and Michelle Keasling / Cody Schirmer was fifth.

Front Wheel Drive 12 lap feature went green to checkered without a caution flag. Matt Pool led all twelve laps to take his second win in Brooklyn. John Schuring finished a close second. Jody Kingery, Chad Larson and Mark Smith rounded out the top five.

Marvin Housley II jumped out to the early lead in the Stock Figure Eight 12 lap feature event. Housley held off challenges from Ashton Hartwig until the caution came out on lap three. The caution came out when Wyatt Clabaugh came to a stop in the middle of the figure 8 when he lost his driveshaft. Housley fend off challenges from Rick Goldsberry and Dan Arnett to go on and take the feature win. Goldsberry was second and Arnett was third. Josh Vandermolen finished fourth and Lane Leerhoff was fifth.

Duane Zander got pasted front row starter John Watts and Jerrod Thompson to grab the lead on lap one of Open Figure Eight 12 lap feature event. The caution came out on lap five when Thompson hit a tractor tire in turn two. Zander continued to lead until Ted Armstrong took over the race lead on lap nine. Armstrong's lead was short lived as he had a flat right rear wheel, allowing John Watts to take over the race lead. Watts held off Thompson to take the win. Thompson, Joe Icenbice and Zander round out the four cars that finished.

Final feature of the night was the Pro-Stock Figure Eight 12 lap feature. Brad Graham wrestled the lead away from fellow front starter Butch Lester and then had to fend off challenges from Bradly Graham until the caution came out on lap five. The caution came out when Aaron Roudabush stopped in the middle of the figure eight. It came out again on the restart when Bradly Graham was spun in turn two by Cameron Eichhorn. Brad Graham held off Roudabush to take his third win. Roudabush, Bradly Graham, Lester and Cade Groeneveld rounded out the top five.

Berry, DeFrance, Murty and Carter Win Again in MoTown

For the third night in a row, I was at the race track as last night made the across town drive to the high banked quarter mile, Marshalltown Speedway for Casey's General Stores, Rumours Bar & Grill and Salute to Local Law Enforcement Night at the Races. Racing action saw two and three wide racing through out the night. This was also initial scheduled as the final night of IMCA Late Models however Promoter Toby Kruse announced in the drivers meeting last night that they will be added a few more nights to make up for the loss of nights because of  COVID-19.

One Hundred Thirteen cars signed in to tame the 1/4 mile race track. Twenty Seven IMCA Hobby Stocks, 21 IMCA Stock Cars, 19 IMCA Sport Mods, 16 MADCRA Mod Lites, 15 IMCA Late Models and 15 IMCA Modifieds. Eric Knutson and Mike Morrill claimed first victories in Motown this season. Berry, DeFrance, Murty and Carter all make a return visit to victory Lane.

First feature of the night was the 15 lap MADCRA Mod Lites feature. "Huggie Bear" Joel Huggins jumped out to the early race lead fending off challenges from Mike Morrill and Travis Stensland. Huggins led until Morrill got the topside to work allowing Morrill to take over the race lead on lap six. Morrill after taking a week off to repair the car from his roll over two weeks at MoTown, managed to lead the remaining laps to claim his first win of the season. Huggins finished second, Tanner Gannon was third, Randy Bryan was fourth and Travis Stensland was fifth.

Brian Lepa and Ryan King led the field to the green flag in the IMCA Sport Mods 18 lap feature event. Lepa led lap one before Austin Kaplan got by King and Lepa to take over the race lead. The first caution came out on lap five when King got sideways in turn two forcing Johnathon Logue and Tony Olson to make contact, King kept moving so got his spot back. Kaplan got a great restart however the caution came out again on lap seven when Joe Luethje and Chance Titus spun in turn two. Kaplan fended off Brayton Carter and Kyle Olson however the caution came out again on lap nine when Brian Schrage spun in turn two as did Titus and Brady Hilmer. The final caution came out on lap ten when Dennis Stewart spun in turn two. Kaplan knew Carter was on his back bumper still and would have to fend him off the final five laps however Kaplan was unable to do that. Carter grabbed the lead with two laps to go and went on to take his third win in a row at MoTown. Kaplan, Logue, Austin Schrage and Kyle Olson round out the top five.

The IMCA Hobby Stocks had a caution come out before a single lap was scored in their 15 lap feature event. The caution came when Ben Newhouse, Matt Wahl, Brett Vanous and Chris McDonald got together in turn two. Eric Knutson grabbed lead when the race got going but Nathan Ballard took over the top spot on lap four. Ballard led until one lap to go when he experienced a flat tire allowing Knutson to grab the feature win. Eric Stanton, Jacob Floyd, William Klosterman and Austin Mehmen was second through fifth respectively.

Curtis Glover wrestled the early lead away from fellow front starter Shawn Cooney in the 15 lap IMCA Late Models feature event. The first race caution came out on lap three when Jill George, Randy Faux, Jenna Johnson and Thomas Stevens spun in turn two. Glover held off Cooney and Curt Schroeder on the restart but two laps later the caution came out. The caution was for Jenna Johnson getting spun on the front stretch. Then on the restart, Curt Schroeder smacked the front stretch wall and on the second restart, Faux spun on the front stretch. Glover hung on to the race lead until he jumped the cushion on lap ten allowing "The Ironman" Darrel DeFrance to take over the top spot. Dalton Simonsen spun on the front stretch by Greg Kastli on the final lap so forcing the race to end under yellow checkered. DeFrance took his second win at his hometown track this season. Simonsen was granted second place after much discussion by race officials. Cooney was third, Ben Seeman was fourth and Logan Duffy was fifth.

Anthony Goldsberry led the first laps of the IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature event but Rod Richards took over the top spot on lap two. Richards led was short lived as Todd Reitzler took the lead away on lap three. Reitlzer pulled away until the red flag came out when Scott Rice rolled off turn one and two, Rice was okay. Reitzler held off Damon Murty and David Atcher on the restart but the caution came out again on lap nine when Austin Gray spun in turn two. Reitzler led until Damon Murty got by on lap 13. The caution came out again on lap 17 for Gray in turn two. Damon Murty held off Reitzler and Dustin Vis to go on and take his third win of the season in Motown. Reitzler, Dustin Vis, Steve Meyer and Dallon Murty rounded out the top five.

Final feature of the night for regular racing was the 20 lap IMCA Modifieds feature event. The feature went green to checkered without out a single caution. Ronnie Hults led the first lap before Thor Anderson took over the lead on lap two. Anderson until he bobbled allowing Gatlin Leytham to lead on lap seven. Leytham lead was short lived as Points Leader Tom Berry Jr worked his way from tenth to take over the race lead on lap eight. Berry led the remaining laps and held off a late race charge from Ethan Braaksma to claim his fifth win in Motown. Braaksma finish second, Tim Ward was third, Leytham was fourth and Scott Simatovich was fifth.

Final Checkered Flag was displayed 10:11pm of the normal nights racing action. However the MADCRA Mod Lites had their yearly powder puff race after the Modifieds feature. Jane Zehm won the Mod Lites Powder Puff Race leading from start to finish.

Next Friday Night will be Triple E Insulators Night at the Races. IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and MADCRA Mod Lites are all racing next Friday. Hot Laps at 6:50pm and Racing at 7:30pm.

Shute, Masters, Boumeester and Nielsen Take Victories on Salute to Veterans Night

Thursday Night decided I would make the two hour and twenty-one minute drive to the Kossuth County Speedway for some Racing at the home of Thursday Night Thunder. It was Salute To Veterans Night presented by Hunting with Heroes from Lakota. Many other sponsors donated money to the purses for all classes plus prizes for Military Veterans. Salute to Veterans tribute cars was driven by Nick Meyer (Modifieds), Jake Masters (Stock Cars), Colby Fett (Sport Mods) and Brandon Nielsen (Hobby Stocks).

Lange managed to hold off Devries and then a late race challenge from Lucas Parsons to take the win. Parsons finished scond with Devries in third. Richards and Murty Cash in on Balmer Racing Night

It was a beautiful hot summer night of racing on the high banked quarter mile of the Marshalltown Speedway. IMCA Stock Cars ran for the top prize of $1,000 to win and the IMCA Hobby Stocks had a $350 bounty thanks to anonymous sponsor on Balmer Racing Night. There was fantastic two, three and four wide racing on the night and some wild incidents mixed in on the night. First green flag took the track straight up 7:30pm and the final checkered flag was displayed at 10:43pm.

One Hundred Twenty Eight Cars signed in to tame the 1/4 mile on Friday Night. Braden Richards claimed the bounty in the IMCA Hobby Stocks and Damon Murty claimed the $1,000 prize in the IMCA Stock Cars. Tanner Gannon (Mod Lites), Brayton Carter (Sport Mods), Logan Duffy (Late Models) and Tom Berry Jr (Modifieds) also took feature wins.

First feature of the night was the 15 lap MADCRA Mod Lites feature event. Jeff Stensland wrestled the early lead from son Travis Stensland. Jeff Stensland led until the caution came out just after lap two was scored when Bryan Wonick spun in turn two. Tanner Gannon got by Jeff and Travis Stensland on the restart to take over the race lead. Gannnon held off Jeff Stensland, Cory Sonner and Randy Bryan to take the feature win. Cory Sonner finished second. Points Leader Randy Bryan finished third, Jeff Stensland fell back to fourth and Bryan Zehm was fifth.

Ryan King grabbed the early lead in the 18 lap IMCA Sport Mods feature fending off Beau Kaplan and Brayton Carter early. The caution came out on lap four when Beau Kaplan spun and collected Brian Lepa and Austin Kaplan on the front stretch. On the restart, the caution came out when a driveshaft was sitting in turn one after going back to the green. King held off Carter and Johnathon Logue on the restart only to see the caution come out again after the completion of lap five when Michael Miller went off the top of turn two. Carter managed to get by King on lap seven just before another race caution came out when Chris Burke rolled off the top side of turn two. Carter held off Logue and Kyle Olson to take the feature win. Logue, Kyle Olson, twenty-first place starter Austin Schrage and thirteenth place starter Jenae Gustin rounded out the top five.

IMCA Hobby Stocks had anonymous sponsor place a $350 bounty on Kaden Reynolds, who remained perfect after last week's feature so there was a good field of "bounty hunters" on Friday Night. Braden Richards started outside row one and he jumped to the race lead early fending off Scott Ellis. Richards look smooth riding the top side until the caution came out on lap seven when Nathan Ballard spun Kaden Reynolds in turn one. Richards was not fazed fending off challenges on the restart from Tom Killen and Aaron Rudolph. The caution came out again on lap ten, Mike Kincaid spun in turn four. Two more cautions came out before a lap was scored again, first one was when Travis Merical got a shot in the rear by Reynolds going down the back stretch launching him Dukes of Hazzard style off the back stretch. Then again on the restart for debris in turn one. Richards slipped up allowing Brett Vanous to get by on lap fourteen before a caution came out for Rudolph going off turn two. Vanous appeared to fend off but Richards did not go away as he pulled the perfectly excuted slider exiting turn four. Richards won the drag race back to the line to take the win. Richards claimed the bounty and his first career win. Vanous finished a close second, finishing behind Vanous in third through fifth was nineteeth place starter Bill Bonnett, fifteenth place starter Solomon Bennett and Reynolds.

Before a lap was scored in the IMCA Late Models 15 lap feature event came out when Darrel DeFrance spun on the front stretch after trying to avoid other race cars in front of him. Jill George grabbed the early lead when the race got going and held off challenges from Curt Schroeder until the caution came out on lap six when Thomas Stevens flipped upside down in turn one. Stevens was okay but it ended his night meanwile George had to deal with Logan Duffy and Schroeder on the restart and it was Duffy grabbed the race lead on lap eight. Duffy went on to take the feature win allowing him to take the points lead by himself. Dalton Simonsen got by George on the last lap to take second putting George in third. DeFrance came back to finish fourth and Schroeder slipped back to fifth.

Normally they are the final feature of the night but up next was the 20 lap IMCA Modifieds feature event. Zack Rawlins grabbed the early lead fending off Ronnie Hults and Scott Simatovich. Rawlins led until Jeff Aikey worked his way through the field and took over the top spot on lap six. Aikey lead until lap 12 when points leader Tom Berry Jr worked his way from tenth place to take over the race lead on lap twelve. Berry pulled away and went to take his fourth win in Motown. Aikey finished second, Paul Nagle was third, thirteenth place starter Tim Ward was fourth and twelfth place starter Kollin Hibdon was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the IMCA Stock Cars $1,000 to win 20 lap feature. Robert Stofer grabbed the early race lead but just after lap two was in the books, the caution came out for Kyle Everts, Jeff Mueller, Anthony Goldsberry and Leah Wroten got together in turn two. Stofer held off Damon Murty and Scott Rice initial but Murty found his way by on lap four. The caution came out on lap six for debris in turn two. Dallon Murty, Everts, Jason Hall and Russell Damme Jr got together in turn four on lap seven. Damon Murty held off Stofer and Dustin Vis on the restarts but the caution came out again on lap nine when Shane Stoneburner and Jami Ritter got together on the front stretch. Murty looked to be heading on to the easy win after fending off Stofer and Dustin Vis but the caution came out on lap 17 for debris on the back stretch. Murty held on to cash in the prize and take the feature win. Dustin Vis, Steve Meyer, Kenzie Ritter and David Brandies rounded out the top five.

Next Friday Night will be Casey's General Stores, Rumours Bar & Grill, Salute to Marshalltown Law Enforcement and Late Model Season Championship Night. IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and MADCRA Mod Lites are all racing. Hot Laps at 6:50pm and Racing at 7:30pm.

Wild Night in Motown on Williamson Repair Night

This week the plan was to attend the races at the Marshalltown Spedway on Thursday and Friday but mother nature had other plans. Thursday Night was to be the rescheduled 3rd Annual Dale DeFrance Memorial Race but a brief rain shower moved in around 3pm and forced the show to be postponed again until Thursday September 17th which means it will now lead into the World Nationals on September 18th and 19th.

On Friday Night, it was Williamson Repair Night at the Races with the IMCA Modifieds ($1,000 to win) and the IMCA Late Models getting the night off.  The race track saw two, three and four wide racing throught out the night. You would have thought there was a full moon, that was last weekend, but four cars took a tumble on the night, all the drivers would climb from their cars under their own power.

One Hundred and Twenty Two cars signed in to tame the high banked 1/4 mile oval of the Marshalltown Speedway. Randy Bryan, Kaden Reynolds, Brayton Carter,  Dallon Murty and Joel Rust all took feature wins on the night. Racing action wrapped up with the final checkered flag at 10:48pm. Unoffially the flip count was four last night as Matt Wahl rolled in turn three in Hobby Stock heat 3 after his driveshaft and rear end came out. William Russell rolled in Stock Car heat 1 when he rolled off turn two, the other two were in the Mod Lites feature.

The MADCRA Mod Lites was the first feature of the night for their 15 lap feature event. Before a single lap was completed Mike Morrill made contact with Cody Yaw in turn three, Morrill then rolled several times off the top of turns three and four. Morrill climbed from the car but that ended his night. Tanner Gannon grabbed the lead on lap one but shortly after the caution came out when Byran Compart flipped in turn two before landing back on his wheels. Cory Sonner wrestled the lead away on the restart and led until Randy Bryan worked his way to take the top spot away on lap five. The caution came out again on lap eight when Yaw spun in turn two. Bryan and Jonathan Braathun battled it out for the race lead but Bryan hung on to take his first win in Motown. Braathun finished second, Sonner was third, eleventh place starter Zac Forster finished fourth and Ryan Mills was fifth.

Dylan VanWyk grabbed the early lead in the IMCA Sport Mods 18 lap feature event fending off Izac Mallicoat. VanWyk led until the caution came out on lap five when Jared Dew spun in the middle of turn two. "Speedy Bray" Brayton Carter got a great restart and took the lead away from VanWyk but the caution came out again on lap six when Dew spun in turn four. Carter held off VanWyk and Tony Olson on the restart to take win number one in Motown. VanWyk ran second, tenth place starter Jenae Gustin got by Tony Olson with four to go to grabbed third. Tony Olson was fourth and eleventh place starter Jonathon Logue was fifth.

Before a single lap was completed in the 15 lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature event, the caution came out when Shane Palmer spun exiting turn four and Darin DeZwarte had no where to go making contact. Ray Fees led the first lap before Tom Killen Jr led lap two. Gary Pfantz however grabbed the race lead on lap three and led until twelfth place starter Mike Kincaid took the lead away on lap six. Shortly after the caution came out when Ben Newhouse spun in turn three. Kincaid pulled away until Points Leader Kaden Reynolds worked his way from twenty-fourth. Reynolds made a move but before he was scored the leader the caution came out for Brian Derry in turn two. Kincaid held off Reynolds and Austin Mehmen on the restart and came across the line in first with Mehmen in second and Reynolds in third. However in post race tech inspection, Kincaid and Mehmen both were disqualifed so that handed the win over to Reynolds. Eleventh place starter Solomon Bennett, twentieth place starter Aaron Rudolph, Pfantz and Bill Bonnett rounding out the top five.

In the IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, it was Leah Wroten grabbing the early race lead fending off several challenges from Dustin Vis. The caution came out on lap two when Dave Atcher spun in turn three with a flat tire after making contact with another race car. Wroten continued to fend off Vis and looked to be heading on to the win until the caution came out on lap 13. The caution came for Austin Gray in turn two. On the restart, IMCA National Points Leader Dallon Murty made move and took over the race lead from Wroten. Dallon Murty went on to take his first win in Motown this season. Dustin Vis finished second, Todd Reitzler was third, Wroten fell back to fourth and Damon Murty was fifth. Jeff Wollam charged the most cars as he started eigteenth and finished sixth.

Final feature of the night was the 25 lap IMCA Modifieds feature, Josh Gilman jumped out to the early lead but Tim Ward took the lead away on lap four. The caution came out on lap five when Paul Nagle and Cayden Carter got together in turn four. Ward held off Jared Van Deest and Gilman on the restart. The caution came out again on lap ten for debris on the back stretch. Ward did not seem to be fazed however just after the completion of lap 11, the caution came out for debris in turn four and then again on the restart when infield tire was ripped out of the ground. Ward led until lap sixteen when Joel Rust made his way from twelfth to take over the race lead. Rust went on to take the win. Ward, seventeenth place starter Tom Berry, Kollin Hibdon and twenty-second place starter Ethan Braaksma rounded out the top five.

Racing action resumes at the Marshalltown Speedway Next Friday July 10th with Balmer Racing Night at the Races. IMCA Stock Cars will be $1,000 to win. Independence Day Racing at Independence Motor Speedway

Well the 4th of July is known as Independence Day so what better way than spend the holiday watching races at a speedway named the Independence Motor Speedway. That is exactly what i did as I made the trip for the second week in a row to Independence for the 4th of July Special at 3/8 mile banked oval.

One Hundred and eleven cars signed in for the 4th of July Special at the Independence Motor Speedway. It was a hot night so was the racing action as it was hot and heavy. All the racing action was completed in 3 hours as the first green flag was at 6pm and final checkered was displayed at 9pm.

First feature of the night was the 15 lap Burco Sales IMCA Sport Mods Feature. Tony Olson started inside row two but by the end of lap one, Tony Olson was the leader. The caution came out for Steve Wimer spinning in turn four. Tony Olson fend off Brett Thomas and Jason Doyle on the restart and pulled away until the caution came out again on lap nine, this time for Jordan Dumer spinning in turn four. Tony Olson now had Doyle and Cousin Kyle Olson on the back bumper. Tony Olson held them off and late race challenges from Kyle Olson to take his third win of the season in Indee. Kyle Olson finished second, last week's winner Kip Siems finished third, Doyle fell back to fourth and Thomas finished fifth.

Dominator Chassis IMCA Stock Cars were up next for their 20 lap feature event. Jarod Weepie wrestled the early race lead from fellow front row starter Leah Wroten. Weepie and Wroten ran one and two until the caution came out for debris in turn one and two. Weepie got a restart, Wroten did not and slipped back to fourth as both Chris Luloff and Cole Mather went by Wroten. The caution came out again on lap 8 for debris in turn three. Weepie held on to the race lead by riding the top side until lap 16 when Mather got the bottom side to work and he nosed his way to the top spot. Mather went on to take his fourth win in Indee. Weepie, Chris Luloff, Tom Schmitt and Leah Wroten rounded the top five.

Ronn Lauritzen jumped out to the early lead of the Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event. Laurtizen held off early challenges from Jeff Aikey and Darin Duffy. The first caution came out on lap three for Kevin Hurst going off the turn two. Laurtizen held off Duffy and Aikey on the restart. Another caution came out on lap 6 when Tony Snyder slid off the top side of turn four. Kollin Hibdon restarted fifth on that restart and made the right move as he found himself in second and then going for the race lead on lap thirteen. Hibdon pulled away and cruised on to the win. Lauritzen finished second, Aikey was third, Mark Schulte was fourth and Duffy was fifth.

In the RCZ Enterprises Indee Cars (Micro Mods and Late Models) for their twelve lap feature. Donald Erger grabbed the early lead fending off Chaz Thompson and Cole McNeal. Erger however experience over heating issues on lap seven just after Thompson took the top spot away. Erger exited pit side meanwhile Thompson battled with McNeal for the race lead. The caution came out on lap ten when Logan Takes spun in turn three. McNeal made the right move on the restart and passed Thompson. McNeal went on to take his first win in Indee this season. Thompson finished second, Carson James was third, Matt Dugan was fourth and Skylar Dugan was fifth.

Cristian Grady led the first five laps of the Indee Compacts 12 lap feature. Korey Lana got by Grady when Grady made contact with the lap car of Trevor Forey on lap six. That resulted in the caution coming out on the speedway. Lana got a great restart but that was all washed away as a just after lap seven was scored, the caution came out when Justin Hempstead spun on the backstretch. Lana led until he slowed just bit after he hit what appeared to be an exhaust pipe sitting in the top side of turn three. Ryan Havel took the race lead and went on to take the win. Lana managed to finish second ahead of Justin Hempstead, Adam Gates and Alicia Steepleton.

Up next was the Dunlap Motors IMCA Late Models 25 lap feature and it was Eric Pollard grabbing the lead. Pollard held off Sean Johnson and Jeff Aikey early before pulling away until the only caution came out on lap nine when Scotty Welsh spun in turn four. Pollard was not to be denied as he went on to take the feature win. Curt Martin grabbed the runner-up honors ahead of Johnson, Logan Duffy and Aikey.

Final feature of the night was the 15 lap Christie Door Company IMCA Hobby Stocks feature event. Aaron Rudolph with his normal Saturday Night track (Boone Speedway) giving Hobby Stocks the night off, grabbed the early lead. Rudolph's lead was short lived as Kaden Reynolds worked his way from sixth place starting spot and took the race lead from Rudolph on lap three. Reynolds pulled away and not even lap traffic slowed him down. Reynolds went on to take his fourth win at 3/8 mile dirt oval. Rudolph finished second ahead of another Boone Speedway competitor visiting Miciah Hidlebaugh. Tyler Ollendieck and Justin Hanson finished fourth and fifth.

Exciting Racing and Fireworks on Mid Iowa Night at Brooklyn

After not attending last week's make-up night races at the Brooklyn Raceway, it was already on my schedule to attend Mid Iowa Real Estate, Auctions and Appraisals (Archie Kuntz) Night at the Races. There was also Fireworks thanks to Archie Kuntz and the Mid Iowa Team. There was also a Candy Toss for the kids after the heat races were completed.

Don Wauters and the track crew did an amazing job on the race track once again and it produced exciting racing action to match the Fireworks. One Hundred entry signed in on Friday Night including fourteen Legend Cars for their Racing for a Cause C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) remembering the Cops who lost their life while doing their job and helping the families of a fallen officer. The first green flag took place just after 7pm, Fireworks took place at 9:45pm and the final checkered flag was displayed at 11:22pm.

Micro Sprints ran a double feature format with the points being awarded out they finished in both features combined. In feature one, Dallas Darnell led the first lap before Bill Livezey took the lead away on lap two. Livezey held off Tom Steinbach until the caution came out on lap nine when Greg Dennis came to a stop on the back stretch. Livezey went on to take the win in the first feature. Darnell, Steinbach, Michael Lange and Greg Dennis rounded out the top five in feature one.

In Micro Sprints feature number two, Darnell grabbed the lead early and not even the caution on lap five for Justin Smith in turn four would prevent him with taking the feature win. Greg Dennis, Morgan Dennis, Bill Livezey and Dakota Young rounded out the top five.  After combining race one and race two finishes together, Dallas Darnell was the winner and Bill Livzey finished second. Greg Dennis was third, Tom Steinbach was fourth and Morgan Dennis was fifth.

The INEX Legends Cars 20 lap feature event, Jeremy Meyer and Tim Franz led the field to the green flag. Jeremy Meyer led the first lap but Ryan Sullivan took the race lead away on lap two. Sullivan and Meyer battled it out utnil the caution came out on lap six when Meyer spun on the back stretch. Sullivan now had to battled with Mike Mueller and Franz on the restart and two laps later the caution came out. Franz and Keith Meyer got together on the front stretch. The caution came out on the restart when Nelson Stewart spun in turn one resulting in Michael Weber, Warren Ropp and Jeremy Meyer got together. Sullivan went on to take the win ahead of Mueller, Cole O'Brien, Kody King and Adam Meyer.

After the Legends feature was the fireworks displayed presented by Mid Iowa Real Estate, Auctions and Appraisals Agent Archie Kuntz. Once the lights were turned back on it was back to racing with the Trucks.

Only three entries in the Trucks Figure 8 class so they only ran a feature event. Mark Ruggles led all the laps with the only caution coming out with two laps to go when Jerry Moffitt had a small fire under the hood. After the fire was extinguished, Moffitt was able to continue but Ruggles went on to take the win. Moffitt got by Michelle Keasling to finish second moving Keasling to third.

In the Hobby Stock 12 lap feature event, Brandan Long grabbing the early lead but Jacob Lehman stayed close and tried to get by and just after completing lap four, the red flag was displayed when Long rolled over in turn four. Lehman inherited the lead and he held on to the race lead until Travis Fenton made a power move on lap nine. Fenton was able to wrestle the lead away from Lehman and go on to take the win. Lehman finished second, Morgan Kline finished third, Chad Heyveld was fourth and Brian Bries was fifth.

Dylan Zuck led all eight laps of the Junior Front Wheel Drive feature, to take his second feature win of the season. Dayton Filloon worked his way to the back bumper of Zuck but could not make the pass ended up taking second. Blaine Kriegel finished third ahead of Addalyn Stevens and Addasyn Spain.

Corey Vanderwilt and Brett Maasdam jumped out to the early lead in the Cruisers 12 lap feature event. Vanderwilt / Maasdam was the car to beat but Lavern Lehman and Jacob Lehman was determined to put up a fight. The only caution came out for a bumper laying on the front stretch under the flag stand. Vanderwilt / Maadam got a great restart after holding off the Lehman / Lehman and Bruce Kline / Danielle Kline. Vanderwilt / Maasdam took the victory.  Lehman / Lehman, B. Kline / D. Kline, Zach Leach / Josh Albertson and Bryan Stephenson / Deal Keasling rounded out the top five.

In the Front Wheel Drive 12 lap feature event, it was Hometown driver Chad Larson leading the opening lap but just after the completion of lap one the caution came out. The caution was for John Schuring who slowed exiting turn four. Larson was passed by Ethan Wauters on the restart but stay close meanwhile Tony Audas and Brooklyn Henderson battled for third until the caution came out on lap seven. The caution was for Audas who spun in turn four after suffering front end damage. Wauters got a great restart and went on to take the win. Larson was running second until two laps to go, he suffered a flat tire that allowed Henderson to sneak by for second. Larson held off Cody Howe to finished third, Howe finished fourth and Danny Robinson finished fifth.

Josh Vandermolen wrestled the early lead away from fellow front row starter Jerome Kline in the 12 lap Stock Figure 8 feature. Just after the completion of lap one, the caution came out when Kline, Josh Albertson and Dan Arnett got together un turn two. Josh Vandermolen had his dad Mike Vandermolen on the back bumper on the restart but held off his dad until the caution came out on lap four. The caution was for debris in turn three. Josh Vandermolen to not only finished but to finish first and after fending off his dad Mike, he did exactly that. It was a one two finish for the Vandermolen's with Josh taking the win and his dad Mike finished second. Ashton Hartwig finished third ahead of Kline and Ben Dillon.

Open Figure 8 class saw Jerrod Thompson take the early lead fending off John Watts but the caution came out on lap two when Michael Lint was stopped because he appeared to be leaking fuel. Thompson held off Watts and Jesse Sanders on the restart but the caution came out on lap six when Ted Armstrong came to a stop in the middle of the figure 8. Thompson held off Watts and Sanders on the restart and lead the remaining laps to take the victory. Sanders finished second, Duane Zander was third, Russell Cline was fourth and Watts finished fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Stock Figure 8 twelve lap feature event but before a lap was scored the caution came out. The caution was for Scott Shook and Kevin Walters in turn two at the same time, Brad Graham was forced to exit with a flat tire. Bradly Graham wrestled his way to the top spot. Bradly Graham held off Kyle Richardson and dodged the lap traffic to take the feature win. Richardson finished second, Cameron Eichhorn was third, Walters came back to finish fourth and Aaron Roudabush was fifth.

Once again Thanks to Don and Shelley Wauters for allowing me to come down and be a part of the staff at the Brooklyn Raceway. I enjoy writing a blog recap and taking pictures at Brooklyn because everyone on the staff and/or the drivers appreciate my love and passion for this sport.

All the pictures I took last night are posted on the Trackside Report Facebook Page and you find the direct link to the photo album at Brooklyn Mid Iowa Night + Fireworks 7-3-20. If you share the pictures please give me credit because I do this for the love of this sport and not to make money, however if you want to give me some I wouldn't complain.
