Rust, Kaplan, Olson, Watson, Bryan and Driscol Take Victories on Kwik Star Night

Friday Night was an absolute picture perfect night for racing on Kwik Star Night at the Races. Ninety-four race cars signed into tame the high-banked 1/4 mile dirt oval known as the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway located on the Central Iowa Fairgrounds. The racing surface was in fantastic shape and the racing did not disappoint either. Kudos to Jerry Vansickel, Toby Kruse and Dave Wolf on great job. Final Checkered flag waived at 9:45pm by Flagman Grant Oskvig.

First feature of the night was the IMCA Mod Lites 15 lap event. Joel Huggins started outside front row and took advantage by grabbing the lead early. Huggins lead until lap nine when Randy Bryan worked his way by for the lead. Bryan lead the remaining laps to take the feature win. Huggins finished second, Josh May came home in third on his first night out this season. Cory Sonner was fourth and Mesa, Arizona's Gary DeWitt was fifth.

Chance Titus led the first ten laps for the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature event before eighth place starter Kyle Olson was able to work his way through the field to challenge for the race lead. Olson took the lead away on lap 11 and started to pull away. The only race caution came out on lap 14 when Jessiah Taylor and Robert Patava get together in turn two. Olson held off Titus and Kaylin Lopez on the restart and went on to take his third win in Motown this season. Travis Peterson, Sam Wieben, Lopez and Jason York round out the top five.

Before a single lap was scored in the IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event, there was a caution. The caution was for Sam West spinning in turn two collecting Darin DeZwarte, Aaron Elliott, Briar Kriegel and Kaitlyn Schuring in turn two. John Watson jumped out to the race lead on the restart and never looked back as he pulled away. Watson took his second win of the season in Motown. Bradly Graham finished a distance second, Eric Knutson finished third, Corey VanDerWilt was fourth and Seth Butler was fifth.

In the IMCA Sport Compacts 12 lap feature event, Matt Miller lead the first seven laps before Blake Driscol wrestled the lead away. Driscol went on to take his first win in Marshalltown. Miller settled for runner-up finish, Curtis Masterson was third, Mark Smith was fourth and Danny Robinson was fifth.

Austin Kaplan jumped out to the early lead in the Drury Automotive  & Truck Repair IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature and fended off challenges from Michael Jaennette, Damon Murty, Scott Rice and Kaden Reynolds. Kaplan hit his marks and did not mess up. The only caution came out on lap nine when Jeff Byers Jr spun in turn four, Brett Maasdam had nowhere to go and made heavy contact. Kaplan held off Jannette and Reynolds are got a little separation as those two along with Murty started battling for position. Kaplan went on to take his first career Stock Car feature win on a night his wife Amy and daughter Chesney was at Chesney's dance recital rehearsal. Jaennette finished second. Jeff Wollam after having to take the race car back to the shop to reweld a shock mount that got broke in the heat race made it back just in time to come home third. Reynolds finished fourth and Murty was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Tire Demon by Love Tap IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event. Jacob Murray led the first lap but Joel Rust took the lead away on lap two. Rust pulled away and never looked back going on to take his second win of the season at Marshalltown. Murray, Ronn Lauritzen, Ethan Braaksma and Gat Leytham round out the top five.
