The orginal plan for me was to head off to the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison were just this week i was asked to be the PA Announcer but mother nature would dump rain on friday night in Allison making the pits to wet to be able to race the so the races were forced to cancel and making next Saturday the "Welcome Back" Season Opener.
After Allison cancelled there was plans to get to Delaware Speedway in Delaware but with it too late to make it to Delaware the decision was made to head to the Boone Speedway for the night of racing.
First feature of the night was the Mod Lites 15 lap feature and before a single lap was completed Brad Melton would roll off the top of turns three and four, Melton would be okay. Bryan Zehm would take the lead when the race got going but then another caution came out on lap 6 for a couple cars in the bottom of turn 2. Zehm would continue to until Mike Morrill would chase him down and make the pass for the lead. Morrill took the win with Zehm finishing 2nd. Mike Kennedy, Josh May and Joel Keenan rounded out the top 5.
In the IMCA SportMods feature it was Jerry Hinton taking the early lead but then Randy Roberts would make the pass and take the lead on lap 4. Roberts would go on to the win in the feature that virtually went green-to-checkered despite the yellow coming out right after Roberts had cross the line for the checkered. Hinton, Cody Hennings, Clint Luellen and Nick Roberts finish second through fifth.
Up next was the twenty lap IMCA Modified feature and this feature was a very exciting one. Jon Snyder would lead all 20 laps in the green-to-checkered feature but it didn't come easy specially the last ten laps as Snyder would battle side-by-side with Mike Van Genderen. With Snyder winning and Van Genderen coming home 2nd, Josh Gilman was 3rd, Jimmy Gustin was 4th and Russ Dickerson was 5th.
In the IMCA Stock Car feature it was Jay Schmidt taking the early lead but Schmidt would be passed by Jerry Gifford on lap 6. Gifford and the field would end up seeing the yellow come out on lap 9 when several cars would get together in turn 2. Gifford would manage to go on to the win with Robert Stofer finishing 2nd. Wayne Gifford, Jay Schmidt and Trent Murphy rounded out the top 5.
The final feature of the night was the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature and it was Dustin Lynch leading lap one but he would blow up and pull in to the infield giving the lead over to Austin Luellen. Shortly after that the caution came out when Tyler Pickett would have something break in the rear end. Luellen would go on to the win despite another caution with just 4 laps to go. John Watson, Brandon Brinton, Aaron Rudolph and Matt McDonald rounded out the top five.
Racing action came to an end at 10:31 pm and i was back on the road for home at just before 11 pm. Thanks for the great hospitality from Tim Stevens Racing. It was a great night until i was about halfway back to Marshalltown and some dumb police officer in Nevada wanting to pull people over for no reason after a warning i was on my way back home and got back to the house at just after midnight
