The Southern Iowa Speedway was back to action on Wednesday Night where it was KISS 101.5 FM of Ottumwa Night and residents of Sigourney and Montezuma got in for five dollars. Before the races there was also 2 dollar on beers happy hour and race car rides for the kids.
Most of the heat races where run with out problems but the final hobby stock heat would see Richard Puhlka Jr roll his car in turn 3 and 4. Puhlka would climb from the car okay. After the heat races the fans would see the top 2 in points in all classes in a frozen t-shirt contest. Shannon Anderson, John Watson, Shane Weller and Jesse Sobbing would be the top 4.
The feature of the night was the Pyramid Graphics & Sports IMCA SportMods feature for 14 laps. Byron Weyer would take the lead and not look back as he would cruise on to the win in the green-to-checkered feature. Jesse Sobbing, Bill Gibson, Brayton Carter and Tony Johnson would round out the top 5.
Autocrafters IMCA Sport Compacts would see Bill Whalen Jr lead the race from flag-to-flag. Merv Chandler would end up 2nd. Kassidy Kirkpatrick came home 3rd, Cody Thompson was 4th and Kevin Kirkpatrick was 5th.
In the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds fifteen lap feature it was Mark Widmar taking the early lead. Widmar would hold off several early race challenges. Widmar and Cayden Carter would get together with just three laps to go and sent Widmar into the wall and sending Carter to the pits. This would hand the lead over to Jacob Murray, Murray would hold everybody off to take the win. Brandon Banks, Shane Weller, Jeff Streeter and Stephen Streeter would finish second through fifth.
Carter Manufacturing IMCA Stock Cars would see Kyle Harwood take the early race lead but then on lap two the caution would come as there would be a whole tranmission on the race track. Harwood look as if he was going to take the win but with just 1 lap to Colt Mather would make the move and take the lead, Harwood would also get passsed by Nathan Wood. Mather would cross the line in first but in post-race tech inspection, Mather would be disqualifed for Illegal Stud Gridles handing the win over to Wood. Harwood would end up 2nd, Rich Vogt was 3rd, Corey Stout was 4th and Matt Greiner was 5th.
The final feature of the night was the Tracy Elevator IMCA Hobby Stocks. Bill Bonnett would lead lap one but it was Donavon Nunnikhoven taking the lead on lap two. The only race caution would fly on lap four when Shannon Anderson would end up coming to a stop in turn 2. Nunnikhoven though would not be denied the win. Craig Brown, John Watson, Kevin Fee and Bonnett rounded out the top 5.
Racing action came to an end at 10:05 pm and that exactly what they hope can happen every week. Next Wednesday Night will be Supreme Lawn & Landscape Night with a Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA SportMods Special, Hot Laps at 7 pm and Racing at 7:30 pm.
