Ron Little and Hogan Families Take The Final Ride and Flag This Week

This week will see two of the great special races in Iowa that I have had a pleasure of sponsoring and/or working at and that beening the Ron Little Memorial and Hogan Memorial Races. Ron Little Memorial will have its 20th and Final event tonight July 2nd at the Stuart International Speedway meanwhile the Hogan Memorial will hold its 25th and Final event tomorrow July 3rd at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton.

Never got to meet Ron Little but many things I have heard was he was amazing man that would help anybody in the pit area unfortunately he left the racing world here on land but I am sure he was watching us from above. This race honors a great racer, friend, husband, father and an ambassador of our sport. I have gotten the pleasure to meet and know the Little Family over the last 20 years and I am positive Ron is proud of you all. One of my memories of the Ron Little Memorial was the three years I had the honor of announcing the races in Stuart and the few times I have helped sponsor the event. I know its been hard to try to keep finding sponsors but you all have done amazing job remembering Ron.

Hogan Memorial started as a tribute to Dick Hogan in 1995 when he suddenly passed away and later became Hogan Memorial when his wife Janet passed away. Scott Hogan, Dick and Janet's son, won the first Hogan Memorial race and has won it a total of 4 times. Scott & Jolyne Hogan, Terri Shafer and the entire Hogan Family have continued to make memories remembering Dick and Janet. This is one special event, I have always made sure to make it too and having got the chance to work it these last few years, I promise it is a must see event. I also have helped sponsor this event the last few years and It has been a pleasure to be a part of the event in every way possible, I know you all tearing up to say good bye to this event.....this even made me cry but remember those are happy tears and you all deserve a pat on the back or hug for all you have done the last 25 years.

For history notes and stories from the Hogan Memorial check out Ryan Clark on Facebook as Ryan has been posting things since last week about the Hogan including past winners.

Its so hard to put things to word because it does make me tear up since I have gotten to know Little and Hogan Families over the years. So if you can attend either race this week, no excuse why you shouldn't be able to since we all know not much work is getting done this week because of the 4th of July, i suggest you attend them and thank the families for all their hard work all these years.

See You at the Track!
