Reu, Vanderbeek, Carter, and Kirkland Claim Victories at The Hidden Gem in Bloomfield

On Thursday night, I decided to make the 2-hour, 15-minute trip from Marshalltown down to the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway for Thursday Night Thunder racing action. It had been several years since my last visit to the 3/8-mile "Hidden Gem" on the Davis County Fairgrounds. Mother Nature is finally giving drivers and fans a break, so 56 cars checked in on a beautiful night. Hot Laps rolled on the track at 7 p.m., racing action followed shortly after, and the final checkered flag was waived at 9:05 p.m.

The first feature of the night was the Mast Overhead Doors IMCA Sport Compacts fourteen-lap feature event. Barry Taft jumped out to the race lead but was followed by Brandon Reu. Meanwhile, Codey Phillips got sideways in turn two on lap four, forcing Trent Fowler to spin. Both kept going, preventing a caution. Back up front, Taft and Reu raced side-by-side for a couple laps; Reu took the top spot on lap eight. Taft refused to go away and tried to get back around Reu for the lead, but came up short. Reu was able to slip away from Taft slightly to go on to take the feature win. Taft finished second, and Matt Moore came home in third. Codey Phillips came across in fourth but was disqualified in the post-race tech inspection, so that moved Kyle Rysdam to fourth and Katelynn Watts to fifth.

Before a single lap was completed in the M3 Fabrication IMCA Stock Cars twenty-lap feature event, the only race caution came out when Randy Rindom spun in turn two. Tanner Allen raced out to the race lead early, fending off Andrew Schroeder in the early going as drivers battled it out behind him for the position. Zack VanderBeek worked his way through the field from the eighth starting spot to put pressure on Allen at halfway. VanderBeek took the top spot on lap eleven and pulled away to claim the $1,000 to win the B&B Chassis All-Star Invitational Qualifier. Allen held off Schroeder for a second. Tenth-place finisher Cayden Carter came home in fourth, and Dennis Elliott was fifth.

Kollison Korner IMCA Northern SportMods was up next for their twenty-lap feature event for $750 to win. Trent Brink took full advantage of his pole position, quickly jumping to a big lead. Brayton Carter, Maguire DeJong, Dylan Van Wyk, and Logan Anderson worked their way up to try to chase him down, which happened when a caution came out on lap eight for Charlie Rindom spinning on the backstretch entering turn three. Carter took no time and wrestled the top spot away from Brink on the restart. Van Wyk, Anderson, and DeJong would also get by Brink for second through fourth. Van Wyk set his sights on getting by Carter as Anderson and DeJong battled for third. The caution came out again for Rindom, this time on the front stretch, collecting Trevor Tanner. Carter held off Van Wyk and Anderson on the restart and appeared to be heading to take the feature win until a caution came out again before he saw Kevin Eggleston's checkers. This caution on lap nineteen for Cody Agee getting into the wall initially, then forcing Kyle Harwood to spin to avoid. Carter held on through the Green-White-Checkered Overtime finish to take the win ahead of Anderson, Van Wyk, DeJong, and Agee.

The final feature of the night was the Mike's Tire IMCA Hobby Stocks sixteen-lap feature event. There may have only been seven Hobby Stocks on hand, but they were fairly evenly matched, and that showed up through the feature event. Brad Graham took the race lead early and was followed by Derek Kirkland. Graham looked strong out front as Kirkland followed, waiting for Graham to make a mistake.  On the final lap, Graham slipped up, leaving the door open, and Kirkland capitalized, and those two ran door handle to door handle down the back stretch and through three and four. Graham got sideways exiting turn four, allowing Kirkland to take the top spot, but even Kirkland had to fend off Corey VanDerWilt at the line to claim the win. VanDerWilt claimed second, ahead of Graham. Keaton Gorden and Kale Hemsley rounded out the top five. Kirkland and Graham exchanged words before Kirkland, but nothing to the extreme like NASCAR incidents lately.

Thanks to promoter Mike Van Genderen for inviting me down to Bloomfield last night. Kudos to Mike and the entire crew for creating a fantastic racing surface all night long. Also, thanks to Tony Paris for letting me hang out in the tower all night with you; it was a lot of fun. I can't forget about the great flagman Kevin Eggleston. It was nice to see you waving the flag, big guy. Carroll Hoover took some amazing photos all night long, so be on the lookout for those. I also took pictures, and they are posted on the Trackside Report by Foxman Facebook page.

Next up for me is the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway on Friday for Drury Automotive & Truck Repair/Knight Sanitation Night at the Races. Then Military and First Responders Night at the Warren County Speedway in Indianola. Both nights, I will be behind the microphone, announcing races. Sunday is still unsure, but it will either be the Benton County Speedway in Vinton or Stuart for the co-sanctioned Malvern Bank 360's and Sprint Invaders Special/Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel.

The next racing event at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway will be on Saturday, July 20th, during the Davis County Fair. IMCA stocks cars, sport mods, hobby stocks, and sport compacts. Hot Laps at 7 p.m. and Racing to Follow.

Other grandstand fair events: Wednesday, July 17: Queen Contest and Harness Races; Thursday, July 18: Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull; Friday, July 19: Sammy Kershaw Concert; and Sunday, July 21: Demo Derby.

After the Davis County Fair Races, the Bloomfield Speedway will have the Sprint Invaders invade on Tuesday, July 30th, and it will be the Hidden Gem Fall Special on September 20th and 21st.

Berry and Anderson Take Mod Anniversary Wins, and Zehm Takes Mod Lites Corn Belt Clash in Boone

For the first time in 2024, I made the trip to Iowa's Action Track, the Boone Speedway, for race action. Saturday night saw fantastic racing all night, and the final checkered flag was displayed at 10:27 p.m. Allowing fans heading back east to get ahead of the George Strait concert traffic.

One hundred-seventy-two cars signed into tame the 1/3 mile, including 41 D&E Outdoor Services IMCA Modifieds and 26 Elmquist Towing IMCA Sport Mods for the Modified Anniversary Weekend. Thirty-two IMCA STARS Mod Lites checked in for the Stealth Racing Corn Belt Clash.

Originally, the Modified Anniversary Weekend was supposed to be three nights: Marshalltown on Friday, Boone on Saturday, and Vinton on Sunday. Mod Lites Corn Belt Clash was supposed to be in Motown, Boone, and Stuart, but unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans.

The first feature of the night was the Stealth Racing Corn Belt Clash for the IMCA STARS Mod Lites presented by Carquest Auto, Truck, and Farm. Bryan Zehm jumped out to the captain of the ship early and was flanked by sixth-place starter Joe Glick. Glick's attempt failed, and Zehm pulled away. Zehm was really only slowed down by lap traffic as he led all 25 laps to claim the victory, paying $1,000 to win. Silvis, Illinois Jon Padilla worked his way from eighth to finish second. Glick fell back to third, Cory Sonner ran fourth, and Austin Gray came in fifth.

Logan Anderson took full advantage of starting on the pole in the Elmquist Towing IMCA Northern Sport Mods 23-lap feature event. Hunter Longnecker, Cory Pestotnik, and Dusty Masolini tried to apply pressure, but Anderson pulled away. The caution came out on lap six when Reed Hilpipre refused to listen to track officials and slowed in turn four. Anderson got a great restart and again pulled away until a caution came out on lap 14 when Ryan Leeman hit the wall exiting turn two before coming to a stop on the backstretch. Anderson held on to claim the win ahead of hard-charging Dylan VanWyk, fifteenth to second. Longnecker, eleventh-place starter Cam Reimers, and twelfth-place starter Colby Fett rounded out the top five.

Next up on the speedway was the D&E Outdoor Services IMCA Modifieds 25-lap feature event for Modified Anniversary Weekend. Trevor Fitz from Camarillo, California, grabbed the top spot early after fending off Arizona's Zachary Madrid. Fitz then received pressure from "T-Dub" Tim Ward, starting on lap seven, but Ward couldn't get by until a caution came out on lap 18 for Riley Simmons in turn three. Another caution came out on lap 19 for Jerry Flippo and Nick Roberts getting together exiting turn two. Ward got by Fitz briefly on lap twenty, but that was short-lived as "TBJ" Tom Berry Jr. worked his way from tenth to claim the lead on lap 21. Berry led the remaining laps, fending off several haymakers from Ward to claim the $3,500 cash prize. Ward finished second, eleventh-place starter Dallon Murty was third, fifteenth-place starter Izac Mallicoat was fourth, and Jake McBirnie was fifth.

Bryan Snell led the opening lap of the IMCA Stock Cars 20-lap feature event before Trenton, Missouri's Austin Bouzek took the top spot away. Bouzek pulled away until cautions plagued the middle of the feature event. First caution on lap eight for Daniel Hagen spinning in turns one and two. Then, on lap nine, Tom Cannon spun in turn three. Lap 12 saw Bo Eads and Josiah Moulds get together on the front stretch, and Garrett Corn slid off the top side of turns three and four on lap 15. Bouzek remained strong and went on to claim the victory ahead of Jimmy Gustin, Tyler Pickett, Johnathon Logue, and Doug Smith.

In the IMCA Hobby Stocks 15-lap feature event, we saw three different leaders in the first three laps. Daniel Smith is on lap one, Andrew Burg is on lap two, and Josh Vancannon is on lap three. Burg retook the lead on lap four, but the caution came out a lap later on lap five for Will Smith spinning in turn two. Another caution came out on lap six. When Mike House spun in turn four, House was not happy and thought Solomon Bennett had made contact with him, so he went up and spun Bennett under caution, resulting in the disqualification of House. Mike Smith worked his way from ninth to second, got by Burg on the restart, and managed to take the win. Eleventh-place starter Eric Knutson got by Burg for second, putting Burg in third; Dustin Filloon was fourth; and thirteenth-place starter John Watson was fifth.

The final feature of the night was the eight-lap Cruiser feature event. Blake McAllister / Logan Wurr led all the laps to claim the win. Brandon Bonschmit / Trenton Merical took second on lap four when Tanner Lyon / Zach Schacter experienced issues.

Next Saturday night at the Boone Speedway is the Eloise Davis Memorial Race for the IMCA Stock Cars. It will be $750 to win and a B&B Chassis All-Star Invitational Qualifier. Also racing are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Mod Lites, and Cruisers. Pits Open at 3:30 p.m., Grandstands Open at 4:30 p.m., Hot Laps at 5 p.m., and Racing at 6 p.m.

You can catch all the racing action at the Boone Speedway in person or on IMCA.tv.

Chisholm With Last Lap Pass To Capture USMTS Spring Classic in Webster City

Just the way my schedule works out, I very rarely get a chance to take part in a United States Modified Touring Series Race, so with a Wednesday night, that allowed me to go. I made the trip up to the Karl Chevrolet Buick GMC Hamilton County Speedway for the 14th Annual USMTS Spring Classic.

Car count may have been low, but the racing was not disappointing, and the final checkered flag was waived at 9:51 p.m. It was a beautiful night with crystal-clear skies.

The A1 Automotive USRA Tuners eight-lap feature event was first up, and Tyler Crimmins grabbed the top spot early. Crimmins was followed by Jake Paysen, and those would battle it out for the race lead, with Crimmins on the high side and Paysen on the bottom. Paysen would take the race lead away on lap six and off Crimmins to claim the victory. Charles Prime finished third, and TJ Williams came home fourth. That is Paysen's second win of the season in Webster City.

Bryce Sommerfeld led the first six laps of the 15-lap USRA Hobby Stocks feature event before Jeremy Crimmins was able to take the top spot away. Crimmins was followed by Joshua Monson and Scott Dobel. Crimmins went on to take his second win of the season in Webster City. Monson, Dobel, Danny Ayers, and Riley Crimmins rounded out the top five.

Shadren Turner took the race lead early and checked out of the field in the Stein Heating and Cooling USRA B-Mods 15-lap feature event. Turner appeared to be heading on to the win until the caution came on lap eight when he slowed on the front-stretch after blowing up, and Ty Griffith was also slowing and blowing up in turn three. Bryer McCoy inherited the lead on the restart, but Klay Beemer grabbed the top spot on lap nine. McCoy regained it on lap ten and went on to claim his first of the season in Webster City. Beemer finished second, Kaedon Bronner was third, John Ross was fourth, and Oliver Sackett took fifth.

Myles Michehl led from start to finish in the originally scheduled 15-lap Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Cars Feature event. The only thing slowing him down was a pair of cautions when Brent Fielder spun in turn four on laps 11 and 14. The latter caution forced a green-white-checkered finish, and Michehl held off Reid Keller and Rodney Schweizer to claim the victory. Keller came in second but was disqualified in the post-race tech inspection, so that handed second to Schweizer. "Presidente" Todd Staley, John Ades, and Jack "Bugs" Vincent rounded out the top five.

The final feature of the night was the 35-lap feature for the Summit Equipment USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt. Gary Christian and Kyle Brown led the field to the green flag. Christian grabbed the top spot quickly and pulled away, while Brown had to fend off several challenges from Alex Williamson. The first caution came out on lap seven for Jake Timm slowing with a flat left rear tire. Christian again checked out until the next caution on lap 16 for Williamson in turn two. Christian got another great restart, but three laps later, the caution came out for Dereck Ramirez in turn four. Another caution came out on lap 24 for Steven Glenn stopping on the front stretch, and the final caution came out on lap 27 for Mike Hansen stopping at the top of turn four. Christian led through all, while Jim Chisholm was working his way through. Chisholm put pressure on Christian late, and coming out of the final corner, Chisholm took the win away from Christian to take his first USMTS win in Webster City and his eighth of his career. Christian settled for second, and Dan Ebert got by Kyle Brown for third after Brown slipped up out of turn two. Brown came home third, and eighteenth-place starter Rodney Sanders was fifth.

Warren County Finally Roared to Life in 2024 With Bones Memorial and Kids Ride Along Night

Finally, on Saturday night, the Warren County Speedway in Indianola roared to life in 2024 with the Bones Memorial Race and Kids Ride Along Night. Sixty-nine cars signed in for a nice, beautiful May night to tame the quarter-mile semi-banked oval and figure 8 track. The racing action was exciting all night long, and the final checkered flag was waived at 10:19 p.m.

The first feature of the evening was the Micro Sprints 20-lap feature event. "The Bullet," Brantley Tjaden, jumped out to the race lead, fending off Luke Lane. The only caution came out on lap one for Brady Edwards, who slows and comes to a rest in turn two. Tjaden was not fazed, as he got a great restart and pulled away to claim the win. Joe Freidel came across in second, and Edwards came back to finish third.

Dylan McKasson grabbed the top spot in the Cruiser Car feature event, with AJ VanderMeiden taking second. The caution came out on lap two for Isaac Seger in turn four. McKasson continued to lead until Tarter took the top spot away on lap five. That lead was short-lived, and McKasson regained the lead and went on to claim the victory ahead of Collins, VanderMeiden, Braelynn Long, and Seger.

Emily Duncan jumped out to the race lead in the Junior Front Wheel Drive feature event, fending off Skylynn Inman and Katelynn Watts. Duncan pulled away, never looking back, the only thing slowing her down was lap traffic. Watts grabbed second, Emberli Van Clark took third, Inman fell back to fourth, and Emma Lynn King rounded out the girl power top five.

In the Open Figure 8 class, David Burnell led the first two laps before Dylan McKasson took the lead away. Burnell lost second to Aubrey McKasson on lap five. The only caution came out on lap 12 when Burnell hit the wall hard in turn three. Dylan McKasson held on to take the win ahead of Colton Wicker and Aubrey McKasson.

Chris Mitchell led all the laps in the Stock Figure 8 feature event despite pressure from JR Tarter throughout the early going. The caution came out on lap four when Tarter spun in turn two, but Mitchell was not fazed and pulled away to claim the win. Isaac Seger finished second, Tarter was third, and Billy Bough Jr. was in fourth.

Before a single lap was completed in the Trucks feature event, Robby Dittmer flipped in turn four, resulting in the red flag. The following restart saw Warren Breeden spin in turn four. Cole Becker took the race lead early and led until the next caution on lap five, when Josh Bear was in turn one. Travis Shivers grabbed the top spot on the restart, but the final caution came out on lap eight when Clay Collins spun in turn one. Shivers held off Becker to go on to take the feature win. Becker finished second, Breeden came back to finish third, and Troy Becker and Collins round out the top five.

Ryan Lippert led the opening two laps of the Hobby Stocks feature event before a caution came out when Jason Collins spun in turn two. On the restart, Travis Fenton grabbed the top spot away, but the caution came out shortly after lap three was scored when Josh Fredrickson spun in turn two, then again on the restart when Lippert spun in turn three. Braelynn Long stole the lead away from Fenton on the restart, but Fenton refused to go away. Long and Fenton battled it out until the caution came out on lap nine, when Long spun on the back stretch. Fenton held on to take the win despite late race pressure once again from Long. Long finished second, Collins in third, Brandon Willemsen in fourth, and Kylea Millard in fifth.

The final feature of the night was the Front Wheel Drive feature event. Michael Gardner jumped out to the race lead, and the only thing really slowing him down were the cautions. First caution on lap five for Dakota Tuttle spinning in turn three after receiving help from Corbin Funke, and on lap six for Preston Kern window net going down. Gardner claimed the win ahead of Michael Gardner III, Matthew Howard, Gabriel Hoover, and Funke.

Next race night at the Warren County Speedway in Indianola is Saturday June 1st for Military & First Responders Night. Pits open at 4p, Grandstands Open at 5:15p, Hot Laps at 5:45p, Racing at 6:30p. Janssen, Corn, Olson, Knutson, George and Williams Claim Victories on API Solutions Night in Motown

It was a picture-perfect May Friday night for racing, as it was sunny and 80s all day. The racing action did not disappoint those in attendance or watching at home on FloRacing. There was great two-and-three-wide racing and some exciting finishes.

A total of one hundred and twenty-one cars checked in to tame the high banked quarter mile on API Solutions Night. We also had a special guest Dustin Jarrett in the house taking a trip through Iowa for some Racing. First Green Flag was out at 7:32p, Heat Races completed at 8:38p, First feature when green at 8:45p and the Final checkered flag waived at 10:44p.

First up for their feature event was the IMCA Stars Mod Lites presented by Knight Sanitation for their 15-lapper. Jeff Stensland led the opening lap, but shortly after, a caution came out for Jaxon Carr in turn four. Ben George and Josh May got a great restart and passed Stensland. George tried to pull away, but May remained in tow until May slipped up, allowing a hard-charging Jon Padilla to sneak by for a second. Padilla tried to chase down George but came up short. George went on to take his 2nd career win, 1st win in Motown. Padilla finished second, Alex Eischeid came up to grab third, Josh May came in fourth, and Bryan Zehm came in fifth.

The initial start of the Friesen Performance IMCA Sport Mods presented by Rugged Radios 20-lap feature event was called back. The following restart did not fare too well either, as Eddie Ingram got sideways exiting turn two and got it straightened out, but it caused Brady Hilmer, Brayton Carter, Jenae Gustin, and Jonny Williams to get together. After that incident was cleaned up, it was time to get to racing. Ingram ended up leading the first lap before Kyle Olson took the top spot. Olson and Maguire DeJong pulled away from the rest of the field and battled it out for the win. Olson claimed the checkers first, with DeJong finishing second. Will Wolf came in third, Danny Concelman in fourth, and Mike Rutherford in fifth.

Cappy's Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA Hobby Stocks 20-lap feature event had its initial start called off. Joren Fisher jumped out to the race lead when the race final got going, as the battle behind him was heating up on the race track. The caution came out on lap 4 for Aidan Lamasters in turn one. Fisher held off Brad Graham and Eric Knutson on the restart, but another caution came out on lap five for debris on the front stretch. Fisher continued to fend off challenges from Eric Knutson until the caution came out for the final time on lap 12. Prior to that caution, Knutson narrowly missed a lap car. Knutson managed to get by Fisher for the lead on the restart and went on to lead the final 8 laps to take the feature win. Tenth-place starter Bradly Graham, Dustin Filloon, Briar Kriegel, and Solomon Bennett round out the top five.

Hy-Vee of Marshalltown IMCA Sport Compacts 15-lap feature event saw the caution come out when an infield tire was hit out on the track in turn four and Mitchell Bunch slid through a billboard. Corwyn Whisler grabbed the lead on the restart, but that was short-lived as Jeremy Williams took the top spot away. The caution came out on lap four when Bunch made contact with a slowing John Patterson in turn three. David Kimmel took the lead away from Williams on the restart; however, he did not go away, but Cristian Grady entered the battle. Williams regained the lead when Kimmel went off the back stretch on lap 14. Williams went on to take the feature win, Grady came home second, Kimmel finished third, Corwyn Whisler was fourth, and eleventh-place starter Blake Driscol was fifth.

Garrett Corn out wrestled Austin Schrage from the race lead early in the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 20-lap feature event presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair. Corn out front led as the battle for second on the back was heated and exciting lap after lap. The caution came out on lap eight for Russell Damme Jr. in turn four. Corn and Tyler Pickett battled it out for the race lead following the caution, and Pickett briefly gained the lead on lap 16 using the bottom side. Pickett slipped up on lap 17, allowing Corn to regain the lead. The caution came out on lap 18 when Austin Kaplan, who worked his way into the top five, spun out in turns three and four. Corn held off Pickett to take the feature win. Pickett, Scott Rice, Jeff Mueller, and Jimmy Gustin rounded out the top five.

The final feature of the night was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds 20-lap feature, even presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap. David Brown grabbed the top spot early, but the caution came out shortly after lap 1 scored when Tommy Belmer spun in turn two. Brown continued to lead, but caution came out again on lap two, first for Troy Morris and Tripp Gaylord in turn one and then on the restart for Randall Paxton in turn three. Todd Shute took the top spot away on lap one of the restart and continued to lead through cautions on laps five, six, and eleven. Drew Janssen took the top spot away on lap 14, but Shute and Dylan Thornton continued to challenge for the lead. Thornton forced Shute off the top of turn two on lap 17, forcing the caution to come out one final time. Thornton was black-flagged for questionable driving. Janssen went on to claim the victory; Tripp Gaylord worked his way back to finish second; Troy Morris III also did and came home in third; fifteenth-place starter Jaxon Saathoff came home in fourth; and Jayden Schmidt was fifth.

Holladay, Murty, Mather, Olson, Graham, Lana, and Miller Take Victories on Tribute to Legends Night in Indee

Saturday night, I decided to venture to the Independence Motor Speedway for the Tribute to Legends Night featuring the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing East Series and the A.I.R.S. American Iron Racing Series. The night was a tribute to Glen Martin, Red Dralle, and Greg Hunter. The night was sponsored by Red's Limo, Curt Martin ReMax Realty, Hunter Auto Sales, Pat's Auto Salvage, Emerson Crane, Sheetz Towing, and Jim Hackett.

A total of one hundred fifty cars were in the pits to tame the 3/8-mile banked dirt track on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds, including 32 SLMR Late Models. Racing action started shortly after late model time trials, and the final checkered flag was waived at 11:46 p.m.

The first feature of the night was the CC's Floors and More IMCA Sport Compacts 16-lap feature event. Blake Driscol out wrestled Clayton Loeb for the early lead, but he was also pursued by Korey Lana, driving Jeremy Williams hot rod, and Jaice Tuttle. The caution came out on lap four when Austin Kirkpatrick spun off the top of turn three. Driscol remained out front until Lana was able to take the top spot away on lap eight. Lana went on to claim the victory ahead of Driscol, nineteenth place starter Christopher Mannion, eleventh-place starter Chris Pittman, and Loeb.

After passing points in the heat races, 2 Predator Custom Trailers b-features, and provisionals, the field of 32 Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing Series was dwindled down to 24 cars for the thirty-lap feature event. Andy Eckrich took the early lead, fending off challenges from Jason Hahne and Derrick Stewart. Chad Holladay finally worked his lane and wasted little time getting up to challenge Eckrich for the race lead. Holladay took the top spot away on lap seven, using the high line, and started to pull away. The caution came out on lap 17 for Andrew Kosiski slowing off the backstretch. Holladay held off Eckrich on the restart, but the caution came out again on lap 21 when Dylan Thornton slipped off the top of turn four. Holladay got another great restart and went on to take the win for a $3,000 pay day. Last year, Holladay won the East Series points without getting a win, and now, after two races, he has a win and leads the points. Eckrich came home in second, Derrick Stewart in third, Nick Marolf in fourth, and fourteenth-place starter Blair Nothdurft in fifth.

Wolfey's and Eddie's IMCA Sport Mods 20-lap feature event had a little trouble getting started off on the right foot. After two attempts, Kole Quam, the pole sitter, was penalized and sent to the tail. When the race finally got rolling, Tony Olson took the top spot. Olson checked out with Will Wolf and Cole Suckow in hot pursuit. The caution came out on lap six when Curt Smeins went off the top of turn two. Olson held off any challenges until another caution on lap 16 when Mason McNett spun in turn four as Chris Lewis spun off the top of turn two. Olson fended off challenges again from Suckow to claim the victory on his birthday weekend. Suckow came home as runner-up; Kyle Olson used the high groove to come home in third; Rayce Mullen in fourth; and Wolf in fifth.

Jim Ball Jr. led the first lap of the Performance Bodies & Parts IMCA Hobby Stocks 16-lap feature event. The caution came out shortly after lap one scored for Zach McNeese, sitting on the top of the backstretch. Bradly Graham got a great restart and got by Ball for the race lead. Graham pulled away, and the only thing going to slow him down was lap traffic. The caution came out on lap 11 for debris in turn two. Graham got another great restart and cruised into victory lane. Ball, Jacob Floyd, Trenton Neuhaus, and Carson James round out the top five.

Next up was the A.I.R.S. (American Iron Racing Series) feature event, initially scheduled for fifteen laps but ending up going 16 laps because of a late-race green-white-checkered finish. Jake Hayes and Steve Olson battled side by side for the race lead in the early going. The first caution came out on lap four when Dennis Etten blew up and came to a stop in turn one. Olson was the race leader, and he continued to lead the way until Bart Miller worked his way from tenth place. Miller took over the top spot on lap 11 from Olson. Another caution came out on lap 13, when Brian Gade blew up coming to a stop. Miller held everybody off on the restart, but the caution came out again on lap 14 for Domanic McNabb spinning in turn four. Miller held on to take the win after the green-white-checkered restart. Nineth-place starter Tracy Quigley, Jake Hayes, Owen Hayes, and Bruce Yoerger finished second through fifth, respectively.

Christie Door Company IMCA Stock Cars, known as "The Class Too Tough Too Tame," lived up to their name as there were great battles throughout the field. Scooter Dulin and Kaden Reynolds battled for the top spot early, with Dulin leading the first two laps. Reynolds took the top spot away and looked pretty tough out front as John Oliver Jr., Cole Mather, and Rowdee Van Genderen entered the battle with Dulin. The first caution was on lap seven when Dru Kueker spun turns one and two. Reynolds held off all challenges on the restart initially until Mather worked his way into second. Mather took the top spot away on lap 12 just prior to a pair of cautions. The first caution on lap 12 was for Dulin spinning in turn one. The second one was on the restart when Braxton Franks, Dulin, Buck Swanson, and Russell Damme Jr. all got together in turn one. Mather got a great restart and went on to take the feature win. Twelfth-place starter Tom Schmitt moved through the field to finish second. Reynolds fell back to third, Oliver came in fourth, and Jarod Weepie came home in fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Waterloo Auto Parts IMCA Modifieds 20-lap feature event, It took three attempts to get a single lap scored. Jerod Ballhagen led the first lap before Adam Shelman took the top spot on lap two. Kip Siems moved ahead of Shelman on lap five, while Dallon Murty worked the high line from tenth. The caution came out on lap seven for Brandon Lewis in turn four. Murty used the high side on the restart to get by Siems and pull away from the field to claim victory. Nineth place started, and Jeff Aikey took second place following the restart on lap seven. Twelfth-place starter Troy Cordes came home in third, Siems fell back to fourth, and Brennen Chipp came from eleventh to finish fifth.

No racing next Saturday, the next race at the Independence Motor Speedway is on Saturday, May 25th, for the Denny Osborn Memorial.
