The race track produced two and three wide racing including some exciting finishes in the features.

First feature of the night was the 15 lap IMCA Mod Lites feature event. Justin Kinderknecht from Salina, Kansas wrestled the early lead away from Josh May. Kinderknecht held off May and Joel Huggins before Huggins exit on lap four. The caution came out on lap five when Mike Agan spun in turn two. Kinderknecht got a great restart but the caution came out again on lap seven when Rodney Brown and Agan got together in turn two. Kinderknecht was determined to not be denied after the final caution on lap 10 when James Beebe and Rodney Brown spinning in turn two. Kinderknecht went on to take the feature win ahead of May by .430 second margin. Cory Sonner, Ed Griggs and Mike Kennedy rounded out the top five. Joe Glick was hard charger moving up eight spots to finish sixth.

Matt Wahl led the first lap of the 18 lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature event before Luke Schluetter took the lead on lap two. Schluetter lead was short lived as Kaden Reynolds took the top spot on lap three before a caution came out when Schluetter spun on the front stretch. Reynolds held off Braden Richards and Kyle Parizek on the restart. The red flag came out on lap six when Chad Rigby rolled off the top side of turn two. Reynolds flexed his muscle and pulled away to take the feature win. Richards came across in second but was disqualified in post race tech inspection moving Eric Knutson to second, Parizek was third, Schluetter came back to finish fourth and Jeremiah Andrews was fifth. Knutson was the hard charger of the race moving up eight spots from tenth.

Brayton Carter grabbed the race lead from the outside front row starting spot in the 18 lap IMCA Sport Mods feature event. Izac Mallicoat and Jenae Gustin battled for second behind him as they both got by Ryan King on lap one. Carter started to pull away only to have the yellow come out on lap five. Carter held off Mallicoat and Gustin on the restart but the caution came out on lap seven when Bill Hildreth and Dennis Stewart got together in turn three. Another caution came out on lap 15 when Jessiah Taylor spun in turn one forcing Carter to fend off another restart. Carter held off the late race challenge from Johnathon Logue to take the win. Logue finished second, Gustin was third, Dylan VanWyk was fourth and Mallicoat fell back to fifth. Tony Olson was the hard charger moving up eighteen spots from 22nd to sixth.

Up next was the "Class Too Tough Too Tame" IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature event and they proved that once again as they had the closest feature finish of the night. Before a single lap was scored though the caution came out when William Russell spun in turn two. "Chelsea Charger" Damon Murty took advantage of his pole position to grab the race lead on lap one. The caution came out shortly after when Kylie Rawlins spun in turn two. Damon Murty fended off challenges from Chanse Hollatz on the restart but again the caution came out on lap three for Rawlins in turn four. Murty was challenges from Hollatz and Jeff Mueller several times but fended them off. As the leaders caught race traffic, Mueller was working the bottom side and Damon Murty and Hollatz worked the top side meaning it was setting up for exciting finish. Damon Murty went on to take the win by .033 seconds over Mueller. Hollatz finished a close third, Steve Meyer was fourth and "Game Changer" Dallon Murty was fifth. Kyle Everts was the race hard charger moving up 15 spots from twenty-fourth to ninth.

In the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event, it was "G-Money" Richie Gustin Jr grabbing the early race lead. Cayden Carter worked his way through to take the top spot on lap eight. The only race caution came out on lap 12 when Thor Anderson spun in turn two. Carter held off Gustin and Joel Rust on the restart before pulling away to take the victory. Rust, Tim Ward, Dylan Thornton and Richie Gustin finished second through fifth respectively. Ward was the race's hard charger after starting sixteenth and moving up 13 spots to finish third.

Final feature of the night was the 44 lap Dale DeFrance Memorial IMCA Late Model feature event. "Racing Auctioneer" Greg Kastli wrestled the early race lead from fellow front row starter Joe Zrostlik. Kastli looked smooth out front but the caution came out on lap two for Joel Callahan spinning in turn two. Kastli continued to lead until lap 19 when Justin Kay, worked his way from seventh. Shortly after the caution came out again when Preston Stoecker came to a stop on the run off road. It came out again on the restart when Jill George spun exiting turn four on the restart. Kay held off Kastli and Zrostlik on the restart and pulled away until the caution came out for the final time on lap 25 when Jenna Johnson spun her dad Todd Johnson in turn two. Kay got a great restart and went on to take the feature win, his 100th career IMCA Late Model win. Zrostlik, Todd Cooney, Kastli and Matt Ryan rounded out top five. Ryan was the hard charger moving up nine spots from 14th place starter to fifth.

Benischek Cashes in Compacts on Casey's Night in Indee

Weather was much better this week then the previous two weeks but it made it difficult for track crew to keep moisture on the racing surface. It may have been the 80s with sunshine but unfortunately the combination of this and a strong south west wind meant as quick water was put down it vapored. One hundred and thirty two cars still made it and exciting night of racing on Casey's Night at the Races. Final checkered flag was displayed at 10:27 pm.

Sport Compacts had a special initial $500 to win but after TBG Advance Tuning & Perfromance, Brad Built (Brad Chandler) and Denny Henniga added money to the winner's share making it $1,100 to win. TBG also added $50 to each position from second through third. Curt Gibbs and War Turtle Racing each added money to the Hard Charger Award.

First feature of the night was the Burco Sales IMCA Sport Mods 16 lap feature event. The caution came before a single lap was scored when Ethan Krall spun in turn four on the start. "Nitro" Nate Albrant took the top spot early but again the caution came out on lap one when several cars got together in turn one and two. The caution came out again on the restart when Kole Quam spun in turn two.
Lap two, five cars got together in turn one. Albrant got a great restart pulled away only to see one more caution on lap ten whan Ethan Krall and Dawn Krall got together in turn one. Albrant held off Brian Kauffman and Tony Olson to take the feature win. Kauffman, Tony Olson, DJ Clendenen and Scott Busch round out top five.

Dominator Chassis IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature was next on to the Speedway. Cole Mather took off right where he left off a week ago by taking the race lead however just after lap one was scored, the caution came out when Matt Burmeister spun in turn one. Mather pulled away only too see the caution again on lap four when handful of cars got together in turn two. Mather was determined to not be denied the victory despite two more cautions on lap seven and thirteen. Mather took the victory ahead of Tom Schmitt, Scooter Dulin, Philip Holtz and Jarod Weepie.

It was then time for the three wide 20 lap Waterloo Auto Parts Sport Compacts feature event. Before a single lap was scored in the books, the caution came out when Andrew Bieber, Justin Anderson, Mitch Balol, Joseph Hempstead and Steve Knight in turn two. Jake Benischek led the first lap before a caution came out again for Adam Gates and Jerry Coopman in turn two. Benischek got a great restart and pulled away looking to be taking the easy win until the caution came out again on lap 16 for Timothy Hanson in turn two. Benischek held on to take the $1,100 pay day and the win. Nate Coopman was second, Nathan Chandler was third, Jerry Coopman worked his way back to fourth place and Cristian Grady was fifth.

Kolton Osborn led the first lap of the Waterloo Auto Parts Indee Cars 12 lap feature event before Dale Schwamman took the lead away on lap two. The caution came out on lap three when Reggie Rema spun in turn three and four. Schwamman held off Osborn and Tyler Carey on the restart until a caution came out on lap ten, when Rema spun in turn one. Schwamman went on to take feature win. Osborn held on for second. Tyler Carey was third, Bryce Carey was fourth and Carson James was fifth.

Before a single lap was completed in the Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event, the caution came out when four cars get together in turn one. Rod McDonald wrestled the lead away from Kip Siems and pulled away. McDonald looked to be heading on to the easy victory but Mike Burbridge reeled him in late. Burbridge could not get by McDonald though. With McDonald taking the win, Burbridge finished second. Siems, Josh Barta and Derrick Stewart finished third through fifth respectively.

Albert Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks 16 lap feature saw Luke Bird grab the early race lead after fending off Shawn Kuennen. The only caution came out on lap three when Trenton Neuhaus spun in turn one. Bird again held off Kuennen on the restart and went on to take the feature win. Kuennen finished second, Kaden Reynolds worked his way to third, Jim Ball Jr was fourth and Justin Hanson was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Dunlap Motors IMCA Late Models 25 lap feature event. Logan Duffy wrestled the early race lead from Veteran Curt Martin. Dillard and Babb Win Twin Hawks on Night 1 of Hawkeye 100 in Boone

When this event was placed on the schedule a year ago, the plan was to attend at least one night if not both nights well the COVID pandemic hit and cancelled just about every racing event possible. So the Inaugural Hawkeye 100 race for the Morton Buildings World of Outlaws Late Models at Iowa's Action Track had to wait until 2021.

The wait was over as the 24 Late Models took to the quarter mile race on Friday Night for not one 25 lap feature events but 2 features called the Twin Hawks. The first feature was lined up based on qualifying and the 2nd race was invert based on the number drawn by the winner of race one. Also race one was dubbed as being awarded World of Outlaw Points, the 2nd would not but race points would be used to determine the heat races on Saturday.

Also racing was the D&E Outdoor Services IMCA Modifieds, Arnold Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars and Elmquist Towing IMCA Sport Mods. Four Heats, 1 B-Feature in Stock Cars and Sport Mods, 2 B-Features in the Modifieds. All three feature events would be 20 laps.

First feature of the night was the 1st Twin Hawk 25 lap feature for the Morton Buildings World of Outlaws Late Models. "Mr. Smooth" Billy Moyer and Points Leader "B-Shep" Brandon Sheppard led the field to the green flag. Sheppard grabbed the early lead but the caution came out on lap two when Brent Larson spun on the front stretch. "Thriller" Cade Dillard got by Moyer for second on the restart and followed Sheppard. Sheppard continued to lead until lap traffic starting slowing him down allowing Dillard to make the move. Dillard took over the race lead on lap 19 and added a little separation between him and Sheppard. Dillard took the win in Twin Hawk No. 1 over Sheppard, Moyer, Chris "Smoky" Madden and "Smooth Operator" Bobby Pierce.

Elmquist Towing IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature was next up on the race track, Austin Price and Dusty Masolini led the field to green flag. Masolini took the top spot early however the caution came out on lap three when Tyler Titus spun in turns three and four, Josh Most spun in turn one. Masolini had to battle with Colby Fett on the restart but the caution again came out after another lap was scored when Most and Blair Simmons got together in turn four. Masolini and Fett swapped the lead on lap five and six before another caution came out when Cam Reimers and Chance Titus in turn four. One more caution came out on lap 13 when Hunter Longnecker and Ryan Leeman get together on the back stretch. Fett gets a great restart and goes on to take the feature win ahead of Cory Pestotnik, Garrett Nelson, Masolini and Troy Bauer.

Up next was the 2nd Twin Hawk 25 lap feature for the Morton Buildings World of Outlaws Late Models. Shannon Babb and Logan Martin led the field to the green after Dillard drew a 12 meaning the top 12 from race one was inverted. Martin lead the first three laps before the caution was displayed when Daniel Hilsabeck spun off the top of turn two. Babb wrestled the lead away on the restart but the caution came out again after the 4th circuit was completed when Chris Madden, Chase Junghans and Jeremy Grady spun in turn four. Babb was followed by Frank Heckenast Jr but hung on to the race lead until the caution came out on lap 21. The first caution was for Grady slowing in turn four and then on the restart for Brent Larson spinning in turn one. Babb held off Heckenast to take the race win. Tyler Bruening finished third, Spencer Diercks was fourth and Martin fell back to fifth.

After a quick farming session because the race track rubbed up, it was time for the D&E Outdoor Services IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature event. Andy Tiernan and Kelly Shryock started on the front row and it was Shryock taking the early race lead. Shryock was challenged several times by Todd Shute. Shute took the race lead on lap seven just before a caution when Chris Snyder spun in turn four. Shute initial held off Shryock and then Kyle Brown until the caution came out on lap 16 for Kelsie Foley in turn four. Shute appeared to be heading on to take the win but Kyle Brown wrestled the race lead away on lap 17 and two laps later the caution came out when Shute spun in the back stretch forcing a green-white-checkered finish. Brown held off Shryock and Cody Thompson to take the feature win. Lucas Lamberies and Jake McBirnie was fourth and fifth respectively.

Final feature of the night was the Arnold Motor Supply IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature event. Anthony Goldsberry wrestled the lead away from his father Mike Goldsberry and fend off challenges from Donavon and Devin Smith. Anthony Goldsberry led until coming to the halfway point when he spun in turn four. Mike Goldsberry inherited the lead but had to fend off the Smith Brothers. The caution came out on lap 11 for Tobie Talk, Abe Huls and Chris Toot in turn one. Goldsberry looked like he was going to take the win however Devin Smith made a move as did brother Donavon Smith. Donavon Smith won the race by .085 seconds over Devin Smith. Devin Smith finished second by .192 seconds over Mike Goldsberry. Randy Brands finished a close fourth and Kyle Brown was fifth.

Final Checkered flag was displayed by Boone Speedway Chief Starter Logan Kelly at 11:43pm meaning after an hour drive back to Marshalltown, I got home right around 12:45am but it was a lot of fun and if you didn't make plans to go some where else go to Boone for Night two on Saturday.
