Thunder Dome Return Back In Action

Marshalltown, Iowa (February 2nd, 2013) – After having 2 months off the Thunder Dome returned in action despite the temperatures being in the upper 20‘s and lower 30‘s as around 85 entries signed in too do battle for the day.

The racing action was some great racing all day long despite the track being slick and dry most of the day but with the cold temperatures no water could be added to the track and for a while this week the races were in limbo where or not they would be racing but the show went on as scheduled.

First feature of the day was ran during the heat races and that was the Box Stock class which had only 1 entry sign in and that was Austen Earley from Marshalltown. We Also had 1 Open 4 Cycle signed in too do battle but never made the call and that was Craig Havens.

After all the heats were finished the first feature to come out was the Jr 1 Animal feature and it Michael Bryant grabbing the lead but had several challenges from Larrissa Miller through out the race, Bryant held off Miller to take the win. Ethan Starrett was 3rd and Summer Anderson was 4th.

Kid Karts saw the “Toledo Terror” Kinzer Janennette lead all 8 laps to take the win over Keagan Thompson. Zachary McClain also signed in to do battle during the day but didn’t race the heats or feature.

In the Jr 2 Medium feature it was Brooke Havens taking the lead and not looking back. Havens brother Tyler Havens was 2nd, Mark Maas was 3rd, Brock Badger was 4th and Shawn Cooney was 5th.

One of our new classes was up next and that was the Quad C Trophy Class. Daniel Hollingsworth would get the wholeshot win over Sean Essex, Doug Slyvester, Todd Cooney and Brandon Gillette.

Rookie Beginners would see “Ty Man” Ty Solverson lead the entire 8 lap feature. Riley Shepard would finish 2nd, Izac Mallicoat was 3rd, Keagan Thompson was 4th and Alyssa Anderson not able to make the call.

Up next was the Rookie Advance class and it would be the “Motown Nightmare” Connor Kriegel taking the early lead but after 3 or 4 laps it would be Kamden Criss from Oskaloosa taking the lead and not looking back. Kriegel would finish 2nd, Brady Kohrs was 3rd and Landon Duffy was 4th.

The 2nd new division was up next and that was the Jr 1 Amateur division. Keaton Woosley and Walker Ashton would start on the front row, Woosley would grab the lead and hold off challenges from Blaine Webster to take the win. Webster settled for 2nd, Brayden Greubel was 3rd, Lainna Duncan was 4th and Brylee Egenberger was 5th.

Mad Dogg Bikes had only 1 official entry but Promoter Brian Kauffman would also ride his bike against Brandon Webster. Webster however would complete the sweep by taking the win.

Jr Quads would have 3 entries and it was Tristan Rethmeier from Newton completing the clean sweep by getting the whole shot win in the feature. Kaden Robson was 2nd and JP Strawn was 3rd.

Clayton Webster would complete the clean sweep with a whole shot victory in the Amateur Bike class over Schaffer Finney and Brandon Webster.

Quad B would see Doug Slyvester get the wholeshot victory to complete a clean sweep on the day. Riley Songer finished 2nd.

Unlimited All-Stars had only 2 sign in to do battle on the day and only 1 was able to make the call for the feature and that was Rob Crandell. Mike Cleghorn experience troubles during the heats that sideline him for the feature.

Jr 2 Animals would see Jessie Miller lead the entire 12 lap feature with Mark Maas in a close 2nd. Autumn Anderson was 3rd and Javen Ostermann was 4th.

In the Jr 1 Medium it would be Keegan Havens grabbing the early lead before McKinzie Culbertson would grab the lead on lap 4 but a few laps later Culbertson would lose the lead to Nick Rose. Rose would go on to take the win with Culbertson, Amy Thomas, Brenden Essex and Ethan Starrett rounding out the top 5.

The Largest class of the day was the Stock Heavy and it was Albert Wolfgram taking lead and leading until around halfway when it would be “The Reaper” Ryan Gustin grabbing the lead away. Gustin would take the win over Wolfgram, Jenae Gustin, Travis Hatch and Todd Zobel.

Just like he did in the Amateur Bikes, Clayton Webster would get the wholeshot and clean sweep in the Pro Bikes over Schaeffer Finney.

Final feature of the day was the Quad A feature and it was Doug Slyvester getting the whole shot victory. Blake Miller finished 2nd, Vance Misel was 3rd, Brandon Gillette was 4th and Riley Songer was 5th.
