Boone beats Mother Nature the Punch Once Again

The orginal plan was to head to the Hamilton County Speedway on Saturday to fill in for track announcer Ryan Bergeson but mother nature decided different late Friday Night and early Saturday Morning as she decide to make it rain so that set up several options to go else where.

The decision was made to head to Boone at about 4pm and so i grabbed the clipboard, pens, scanner, camera and jacket and head to Boone for a nice night at the races. I drove the entire way in a light rain shower but the races went off with out a drop of rain at the track.

On to the action on the track now.

First feature of the night was the 15 lap Mod Lites feature. Travis Stensland started inside row two but he found his way to the lead early. Stensland tried to pull away but Terry Brown stayed in check and then the only race caution came out on lap five when Amber Coffman came to a stop in turn four. Stensland continued to lead until lap traffic slowed him down and that allowed Brown to sneak by. Brown took the win over Stensland, Brother Charlie Brown, Andy Hennigar and Robert See.

Brian Eppert lead the first five laps in the Elmquist Towing IMCA SportMods feature. Rookie Jake McBirnie took the lead away on lap six and shortly after the caution came out when Tim Love, Jacob Schau and Chad Ryerson got together in turn two. McBirnie lead the remaining laps and held off challenges from Birthday Boy Ben Kates to take the win. Johnathon Logue finished third, Eppert was fourth and Randy Roberts was fifth.
