Well as the 2016 racing season unwhining to a close, many track promoters start planning for the 2017 season. One track learned its fate and another announced a few months ago of a group of four going to be in charge.

Now the word that was tossed around by one party is indefinitely. The definition of indefintely is : not clearly defined or determined; not precise or exact. The other party was saying 3-5 years and racing will be back at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
It is unknown if racing will trully return to the Iowa State Fair Grounds in 3-5 years like the fairboard says so let me say this i have spent the last 20 years going to the races somewhere and i want to see this sport, continue to go so you better get out and support your local tracks before they are gone!
Yes I did spend my 2016 Friday Nights at the Iowa State Fair Speedway and It was fun announcing races all season and I was looking foreward to returning there next season, I now like many of the racers that raced there have to find a Friday Night home elsewhere. Does that mean a return to Marshalltown in 2017, since the race track is only five minutes from the house (a race track I worked at for five seasons before Des Moines) or another track including one that moves back to Friday?
Today the Hancock County Speedway announced it will move its racing program from Saturday Night back to Friday Night in 2017.
Fast Fridays are back in Britt in 2017

Britt, Iowa - The tradition of Friday night IMCA racing will return to Hancock County Speedway for the 2017 race season. "This is huge for the Hancock County Speedway and the Britt community. We have been hearing from race fans in the community, and they wanted Friday night racing back in Britt" states Brian King, of 4 Wide Promotions. Along with racing returning to Friday nights, many exciting things are happening at the speedway. Some of these changes include a kid's zone, reshaping of the racetrack, Whelen caution lights, and an overall face-lift to the facility. 2016 season still has some events left in Iowa or within a few mintues of the border and they include Fall Bash at Cedar County Raceway (Thursday-Saturday), Fall Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway (Friday and Saturday), Fall Extravaganza at Lee County Speedway (Next Friday and Saturday), Memphis Fall Nationals at Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Missouri (October 21st and 22nd) and Shiverfest at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson (October 29th).
