Oskaloosa, Iowa (July 19th, 2017) - Hot and steamy night filled with action packed racing during night number two of the Southern Iowa Fair Races. The Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifeds made their yearly visit to the monster half mile. 64 cars signed in to compete during the 5th Annual Dave Lowry Memorial presented by Monte Motor Parts, Nutz Graphics, KBOE Radio and Mahaska Bottling.

Cayden Carter (Hawkeye Dirt Tour Modifieds), Dustin Griffiths (Stock Cars), Curtis VanDerWal (Sport Mods), Shannon Anderson (Hobby Stocks) and Ryan Havel (Sport Compacts), all took feature wins on Wednesday Night.

First feature of the night was the 10 lap Kelli Steli State Farm IMCA Sport Compacts feature. Tyler Harring and Levi Heath led the field to the green flag and it was Heath grabbing the top spot early. Heath was chase down by Ryan Havel on lap four and that allowed Havel to make the pass on lap five. Havel held on to take the checkers and the win meanwhile Heath experience issues and exited pit side. Bill Whalen Jr., driver nicknamed Happy Feet, came home in second with Marshalltown's John Gill in third. Nathan Moody and Dalton Winkleman finished fourth and fifth.

Christian Huffman started on the pole of the 14 lap KBOE Radio / Mahaska Bottling IMCA Hobby Stock feature event, Huffman took full advantage of that by grabbing the top spot early. Huffman knew that Shannon Anderson was coming and by lap four, Anderson was in second. The caution came out just after lap four when Jeff Anderson hit the front stretch wall exiting turn four, it ended his night. Huffman got a great restarted but it was Shannon Anderson getting a better restart as Shannon Anderson took the lead away. Shannon Anderson went on to take his 11th win of the season in Osky and his 29th win of the season. Chanse Hollatz, Mike Kincaid, Steve Allen and Huffman rounded the top five.

In the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour for the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds 25 Lap feature, Hunter Marriott and Kyle Brown led the field to the green flag. Marriott jumped out to the lead and began to pull away until lap traffic slowed him down allowing Cayden Carter, who worked his way up from his sixth place starting spot. Marriott and Carter began to challenge for the race lead but the red flag came out on lap 16 when Dan Brockert got upside down in turn two. Marriott along with a few other cars head to the pits, that handed the lead over to the track points leader Cayden Carter. Carter took advantage of the opportunity as he headed on take the win. Ricky Thornton Jr., driving a borrowed race car, finished second. Joel Rust, Kyle Brown and Kelly Shryock rounded out the top five. Rust and Shryock leave Osky tied at the top of the points standing for the Hawkeye Dirt Tour.

Oskaloosa True Value IMCA Sport Mods 14 lap feature event was next up on the speedway. Austin Paul and Carter VanDenBerg led the field to the green and it was VanDenBerg wrestling the top spot away early. VanDenBerg looked comfortable out front but Brayton Carter was trying to chase him down, Carter did exactly that on lap seven but so did Curtis VanDerWal. VanDenBerg, Carter and VanDerWal was three wide battling for the race in turn three on lap 7. VanDerWal took the lead away on lap eight and went on to take his ninth win at his hometown track and fifth consecutive win. Carter wrestled second away from VanDenBerg, who came home third. Dan Drury was fourth and Tony Johnson was fifth.

Final feature of the night was the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars 14 lap feature event. Just like he did on Tuesday, Dustin Griffiths grabbed the race lead early. Griffiths held off several challenges from Nathan Wood until the caution came out on lap seven. Griffiths was not going to let that mid race caution deny him his second win at the monster half mile in 2017 as he would hold off Wood for the win. Mike Hughes worked his way up to finish third ahead of Derrick Agee and Danny Thrasher.

Next Wednesday Night will be Kiss 101.5 Night at the Races. Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks make their third and final appearance along with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts.

Hobby Stocks will still have the $300 bounty on the line, if they can beat Shannon Anderson, thanks to Edel Lawn Service, Cindy Drost and Independent Auto of Marshalltown next week. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
