Sunday the decision was made to head to the Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway for the Frostbuster event. The temperature a little warmer than Saturday's races in Boone but the very stiff wind left track crews on their toes. Promoter Mike Van Genderen was not sure all the frost came up out of the racing surface so to prevent any ruts, they waited to put water on the track until closer to noon. There was very beautiful sunny skies but the wind was very strong.
Van Genderen stayed ahead of the racing surface and appeared to work as there was fantastic two, three and at times four wide racing through out the night. MVG always does an amazing job with keeping a program moving and making sure everybody has the best racing surface to race on and that showed once again on Sunday.
One Hundred thirty six cars signed into tame the quarter mile bull ring on the Northwest side of Stuart. IMCA Northern Sport Mods had 37 entries, IMCA Stock Cars had 25 entries, IMCA Modifieds 19 entries and 18 IMCA Hobby Stocks. IMCA Sport Compacts saw 14 entries and the Outlaw Mini Mods ran for extra money as they had 23 entries. Hot Laps took place at 4:30pm, Racing followed and the final checkered flag was displayed at 9:25pm.
First feature of the night was the Outlaw Mini Mods feature event, originally scheduled for 15 laps but after a seven car pile up on the first lap in turn one and two, the race was shorten down to 12 laps. On the following restart, eleven year old Kaden Rice went for a tumble in turn one, he climbed from his race car uninjured. The feature saw three more cautions bring the total to five during the feature. Lucas Daniels lead all twelve laps and held off a late race charge from Kamdyn Haggard to take the win. Garrett Seals, TJ Findlow and Zackary Schaefer rounded out the top five.
In the Karl Pre-Owned (Spangler Automotive) IMCA Northern Sport Mods feature event and it went twenty laps caution free with some great two, three and four wide racing action. Jace Whitt from Hamilton, Missouri started fourth but by the time lap one was scored he was in the top spot. Whitt held off Logan Anderson and Minnesota's Tim Bergerson to take his first career feature win. Anderson settled for second, Bergerson was third and twelfth place starter Brayton Carter came home fourth. Jake Sachau held off Boone's Frostbuster winner Taylor Kuehl for fifth.
Trenton, Missouri's Brad Whitney and Iowa's Johnathon Logue led the field to the green flag in the Affordable Quality Roofing Exteriors IMCA Stock Cars 25 lap feature event. Logue driving a car for Todd & Traci Van Eaton grabbed the early race lead but it was only a matter of time before a pair of ninety-nine cars would challenge for the race lead. It did not take Damon Murty long as he took the race lead away on lap three using the high side and opened a big lead but then cautions came out . A caution came out on lap 14 for Scott Bailey in turn three. Two more cautions came out, Lap 18 when Rowdee Van Genderen was spun by Bryan Snell in turn four and then again on lap 19 when Scott Davis slow in front of the field. Damon Murty knew that his son Dallon Murty, started in ninth place, was on his back side on the restart and it was going to be exciting final six laps. The Murtys battled it out with Damon Murty taking the feature win by .007 seconds over his son Dallon. Troy Jerovetz, Logue and tenth place starter Buck Schafroth finished third through fifth.
Michael Hotze led the first two laps for the John's Tree Service IMCA Sport Compacts 15 lap feature event. Beatrice, Nebraska's Kaden Murray started first but slipped back to third before working his way back to take over the race lead on lap three. Murray led the final 13 laps in the feature after getting by Hotze but then had to hold off Kolby Sabin late to take the feature win. Sabin was second, Mitchell Bunch was third, Hotze was fourth and Tyler Fiebelkorn was fifth.
VIP Contractors and Karl Chevrolet of Stuart IMCA Modifieds 25 lap feature event was up next and Quitman, Arkansas's Brint Hartwick grabbed the early race lead fending off Drew Janssen off until the caution on lap two when Doug Smith spun on the front stretch hitting the front stretch wall. Hartwick held of Janssen again on the restart meanwhile Tom Berry Jr., was working his way from tenth place starting spot. Berry took the lead away on lap 13 and appeared to be heading on to the easy win but as Berry was taking the white flag, Spencer Hartwick slowed to a stop on the front stretch causing a green-white-checkered finish. Berry held of Brint Hartwick and Cayden Carter off on the restart to take win. Carter got by Brint Hartwick for second putting Hartwick in third. Saturday's winner Tim Ward was fourth and Janssen was fifth.
Final feature of the night was Rick's Towing IMCA Hobby Stocks 20 lap feature event. Fourth place starter Dylan Nelson powered his way to the race lead early with Skylar Pruitt running in second but the caution came out three times on lap three and four. Nelson was not to be denied as he fend off the challenges on the restart, only to see another caution come out on lap nine. Nelson held off Luke Ramsey to take the feature win. Ramsey, Brandon Cox, Solomon Bennett and Pruitt rounded out the top five.
