The second night of the King of the High Banks presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair at the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway took place on Friday. The weather was near picture perfect for Friday Night in middle April and the racing was heated and exciting all night long on the high banked quarter mile.
One hundred seventy-one race cars checked into the pits on Friday Night, that was headlined by IMCA Stock Cars $5,000 to win 50 lap feature event. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Mod Lites and IMCA Sport Compacts saw increased payouts as well. Final checkered flag was waived at 12:15 am.

First feature of the night was the 20 lap IMCA STARS Mod Lites presented by Knight Sanitation. Before a lap was completed the caution came out for Bryan Compart and Dillon Bush spun in turn two. Bakersfield, California's Riley Clem grabbed the race lead early but Kansas City's Dillon Raffurty managed to take the top spot away lap five. Dillon Raffurty pulled away only to see the field get bunched back up for cautions on lap 14 and a pair on lap 16. Dillon Raffurty hung on to claim the checkers. Thursday's winner Jaedon McDowell from Murfreesboro, Tennessee came from eleventh starting spot to take the runner-up spot. Clem fell back to a third place finish, Bryan Zehm was fourth and Cory Sonner in fifth.
"Speedy Bray" Brayton Carter took the race lead early in the IMCA Friesen Performance Sport Mods presented by Rugged Radios 25 lap feature for $1,000 to win. Carter was challenged by Thursday's winner Cam Reimers many times through out the race. The first caution came out when Zander Keeland spun in turn three and four. Carter worked the top side and Reimers worked the bottom side of the speedway. Carter continued to lead but the caution came out on lap 13 for Hunter Clement in turn two. Dylan VanWyk joined the battle of Carter and Reimers up front. VanWyk got by Reimers for second on lap 17 and then set its sights on getting by Carter. VanWyk attempted a slider out of turn four but Carter was ready to defend until two laps to go when VanWyk dove under Carter on the backstretch. VanWyk was successful and he held off Carter to claim the win. Carter came home second, Logan Anderson got by Reimers on the last lap to take third. Reimers was fourth and tenth place starter Tyler Inman came home in fifth.
Up next was the headliner $5,000 to win IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Drury Automotive and Truck Repair 50 lap King of the High Banks feature event. Ten Drivers was locked in from Thursday's heat races passing points, Everybody had a chance to qualify through five Last Chance Qualifying heats and two B-Mains to complete the 24 car field. Kelly Shryock, starting his 40th year of racing earned the pole position and "Game Changer" Dallon Murty started second. Shryock took the race lead at the drop of the green and Murty fell in to the second spot meanwhile Last Year's winner Jeffrey Abbey from Boyd, Texas jumped in third. Shryock, Murty and Abbey ran closely together but it was the veteran maintaining the race lead. The first caution came out on lap 12 when Dylan Thornton came to a stop in the top of turn three. Shryock got a great restart and started to get a gap on the field until the caution came out on lap 30 for David Brandies and Johnathon Logue in turn four. Final caution came out three laps later on lap 33 when Todd Reitzler in turn two. Shryock was not fazed and went on to take the victory and lock himself into the B&B Chassis All-Star Invitational. Abbey was able to sneak by Murty to take over the second spot. Murty came home third, Ocheyedan's Elijah Zevenbergen was fourth. "Chelsea Charger" Damon Murty worked his way from twelfth to finish fifth.
In the "Wild Thing" IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Big8 Tyre Center 25 lap feature for $1,000 to win event came on to the speedway. "The Mayor" John Watson took the top spot with Seth Butler and Jacob Floyd on his back bumper. The Only race caution came out on lap four when Floyd made contact with the "Flyin' Fireman" Calvin Dhondt. Watson looked strong but on lap ten it was Minneapolis, Kansas's Cody Williams, nicknamed Meatloaf, taking over the top spot away from Watson. Watson settled into the second as Williams went on to take the feature win. Twentieth place starter Eric Stanton nabbed third, Dhondt worked his way back from 23rd after the caution lap four to finish fourth, Butler rounded out the top five.
The IMCA Friesen Performance Modifieds presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap 30 lap feature with $1,500 pay day and Fast Shaft All-Star Invitational qualifier. So far in this young season, the guy to beat has been Tom Berry Jr and Friday night was no different as he started on the pole and despite cautions on lap five, twenty-seven and twenty-eight. Berry never looked back going to take the feature win. Seventh place starter Joel Rust, Todd Shute, Chase Weimer and Denmark, Wisconsin's Cole Czarneski rounded the top five.
Final feature of the night was the IMCA Mach-1 Sport Compacts presented by Hy-Vee of Marshalltown was the final feature of the night. Sioux City's Tyler Thompson led the first eleven laps before Mason City's Devin Jones took the top spot away. Jones took the feature win in the only feature to go caution free on the night. Thompson finished as the runner-up, Jeremy Williams came home third, Cristian Grady was fourth and Oliver Monson was fifth.
Next Friday Night April 19th, the Karl Auto Group of Marshalltown Speedway will kick of the 60th season of weekly racing action. IMCA Sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and Mod Lites. Pits Open at 5:15p, Grandstands at 5:30p, Hot Laps at 6:45p, Racing to Follow.
Grandstands are $15 for Adults, Seniors & Veterans are $10, Students (11-17) are $10, Kids 10 and under are Free with a paid adult. Pit Passes are $30 for Adults, Kids (3-12) are $15 and Children (2 and under) are Free.
