Porter Dominates Southern Iowa Chassis Hobby Stock Special

Oskaloosa, Iowa (April 22nd, 2015) – Mother Nature always seems to make a presence known on race nights and this time she made it well known she was in control as there was strong north winds and very chilly temperatures.
77 drivers signed in on Southern Iowa Chassis Night that featured the IMCA Hobby Stocks Special. Stock Cars and Sport Mods racing for some extra cash thanks to Edel Lawn Care plus free front bumpers to Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks winner.
John Whalen lead the first two laps in the 12 laps IMCA Sport Compacts feature before Trent Orwig took the lead away on lap three. Orwig was challenged by another Whalen, as John's twin brother Bill will battle for the top spot. Orwig held off Bill Whalen to take the win. John Whalen fell to third, Jon Girdley was fourth and Tim Bevins was fifth.
Next up was the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature event. Daniel Hilsabeck took the early lead but Michael Peterson and Todd Reitzler right behind him before Damon Murty worked his from tenth to second on lap 11. Murty took the lead away from Hilsabeck, Nathan Wood and Reitzler got by Hilsabeck for second and third. Murty took the win despite a late race charge from Mike Hughes. Hughes, Wood, Reitzler and Jason See rounded out the top five.
In the KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMods 18 lap feature, it was Cory Van Zante taking the early lead but Curttis VanDerWal worked his way from ninth to third by lap six before taking the top spot away on lap seven. VanDerWal saw the caution come out when Austin Paul and Derek Liles got together in turn two on lap ten. VanDerWal went on to take the win over Colton Livezey, Brayton Carter, Brett Lowry and Logan Anderson.
Scott Dickey grabbed the top spot in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds 18 lap feature event. Dickey looked to be comfortable out front until Todd Shute chase him down and put some pressure on Dickey. Dickey held Shute off until lap 17 when Shute made the move in turns one and two that allowed him to take the lead away. Shute took the win over Dickey, Andrew Schroeder, Carter VanDenBerg and Cayden Carter.

Final Feature of the night was the 20 lap Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stock Special feature presented by Southern Iowa Chassis. Dale Porter grabbed the lead on lap one but just after the caution came out when several cars got together in turn three. Porter did not let that get to him, even though he had Nick Ulin and Dustin Griffiths behind him. Porter pulled away to win by a full straight-away over Ulin, who edged out Griffiths for second. Craig Brown worked his way to fourth and Brad Stephens was fifth.
KBOE Radio is the sponsor next Wednesday Night at the Southern Iowa Speedway. The IMCA Stock Cars will be $500 to win (22 or more cars) or $400 to win (21 or less) and IMCA SportMods will be $400 to win (18 or more cars) or $300 to win (17 or less). Also racing will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
