Marshalltown, Iowa (July 31st, 2015) – Mother Nature continues to throw curve balls at speedway officials but everything came together as there was exciting three and four wide racing through out the night. 85 drivers checked in which included nine Open Flat Track Quads.
Donavon Smith (IMCA Stock Cars), Jared Van Deest (IMCA Northern SportMods) and Josh May (Mod Lites) all made a return to victory lane at Marshalltown. Jon Snyder (IMCA Modifieds) and Garrett Eilander (IMCA Hobby Stocks) made his first trip there. George Hood captured the Quad feature.
Josh May started outside row two of the 15 lap Mod Lite feature but by the end of lap one he was out front in the lead. Charlie Brown wrestled second away from Justin Rankin meanwhile Mike Morrill followed to third. Rankin spun on lap two in turn two bring out the only race caution. May lead the remaining laps to take his fifth win of the season at Motown ahead of Travis Stensland, Morrill, Bryan Zehm and Charlie Brown.
Bill Hildreth took the early lead in the IMCA Northern SportMods 18 lap feature event but just after the completion of lap two the caution came out for Tom Rawlins in turn one. On the restart, Hildreth saw Sam Wieben and Frank Packer right behind him but he held them off but shortly after Scott Williams exited to the infield and then caught fire, Williams climbed from the car just as the caution was displayed twice on lap four. Wieben made the move and took the lead away by lap six and appeared to be heading on to the win but a caution came out on lap ten for Nick Duncan in turn two. Wieben now had Hildreth, Jared Van Deest and Brandon Williams in tow. Van Deest grabbed second away on lap 12 and then wrestled the lead away from Wieben on lap 15. Van Deest led the remaining laps to take his fourth win of the season. Travis Peterson worked his way through to second away from Wieben. Brandon Williams was fourth and Hildreth settled for fifth.
Jason Cox and Brandon Pitts led the field to the green in the Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap event but it was Tim Barber taking the early lead. Barber continued to lead until lap seven when Garrett Eilander finally found away to take it away. Eilander held on to take the checkers first even though lap traffic slowed him down and a hard charger Austin Luellen. Luellen, Last Week's Feature Winner Gary Pfantz, Barber and Eugene Nicklas rounded out the top five.
Tyler Pickett grabbed the lead from his outside front starting spot and held off early challenges from Robert Stofer in the Miller Lite IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature. Stofer exited the race track on lap four which then saw Michael Jaennette right there challenging him but by lap five, Donavon Smith entered the picture. Smith took the lead away two laps later, on lap seven just before a pair of mid race cautions. Smith went on to take win number six at Marshalltown. Jaennette, Jay Schmidt, Steve Meyer and Pickett rounded out the top five.
Jon Snyder jumped out to the early lead in the Coors Light IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature but just after the completion of lap one the caution came out for Jesse Belez and Derek Reimer in turn two. Snyder was not going to let that damper his parade as he remained out front and held off challenges from Jake Strayer. Josh Gilman nearly went for a wild ride off turn two on lap three but kept it going. The final race caution came out on lap nine for Joel Rust going off the top of turn four, Rust was able to continue. Snyder held on to take his first at Marshalltown in 2015 ahead of Brian Irvine, who got by Strayer for second on lap ten. Strayer, Ronn Lauritzen and Jimmy Gustin finished third through fifth respectively.
Final feature of the night was the Flat Track Open Quads and it was George Hood getting the wholeshot victory by leading from start-to-finish in the ten lapper. Adam Streeter, David Petithory, Tyler Owens and Dannon Daleske finished second through fifth.
