For many years on a Memorial Day, I found myself at the races and it was no different as i ventured over to the Stuart International Speedway for night two of the Whole Hog 50. Opening Night saw Dallon Murty and Luke Lemmens take the Stock Car qualifiers on Sunday Night. Logan Anderson won the Sport Mods, Joel Rust in the Modifieds, Curtis Masterson in the Sport Compacts. and Justin Kinderknecht in the Mod Lites.
Night two did not disappoint as there was fantastic racing all night. Troy Ihrke won the Outlaw Mini Mods, Logan Anderson won the IMCA Sport Mods, Todd Shute won the Modifieds, Daniel Wauters won the Hobby Stocks and Dallon Murty took the Stock Car feature win. However each feature winner had to kiss the Hog in victory lane.
First feature of the night was the Karl Pre-Owned IMCA Sport Mods 20 lap feature event. Izac Mallicoat wrestled the early race lead from Dylan Van Wyk and led until the caution came out on lap eight when Mitchell Morris and Mike Dullard spun in turn three. Sunday's Night winner Logan Anderson took the top spot away on the restart and appeared to be cruising on to the win until the caution came out on lap 19 for debris on the front-stretch forcing a green-white-checkered. However the caution came out just after lap 20 was scored when seven cars got together in turn one and two. Anderson held off Brayton Carter and Mallicoat to take the win. Carter finished second, Mallicoat was third, Miles Morris was fourth and Maguire DeJong was fifth.
The Outlaw Mini Mods feature scheduled for 10 laps. Kamdyn Haggard led the first two laps before Troy Ihrke took the spot away on lap three. Ihrke paced the way with Luke Daniels following in to the runner-up spot but the caution came out on lap nine when Luke Daniels spun in turn four. That forced a green-white-checkered finish however the caution came out after lap ten was scored when Spencer Nelson spins in turn two. Ihrke held off the second green-white-checkered restart to take the feature win. Haggard finish second ahead of Dalton Faber, Bobby Daniels and Luke Daniels.
Up next was the feature headliner the the Whole Hog 50 for the IMCA Stock Cars. Dallon Murty won the Dash granting the front row along side with Luke Lemmens. Lemmens took the race lead early but Dallon Murty took the top spot away on lap five. Dallon Murty started to get a little separation until the caution came out on lap 14 for debris in turn four. Another caution came out on lap 16 when seven cars got together in turn three which resulted in Todd Reitzler ending up on his roof. Dallon Murty had several battles with Lemmens, Johnathan Logue and Tom Berry before pulling away again.
The caution waived again in the Stock Cars on lap 29 when Scott Davis lost oil on the front stretch. Three laps later another caution for Todd Van Eaton taking exit off top turn one. Kyle Brown spun in turn four on lap 44 and Tathan Burkhart and Bob Daniels got together in turn three with 4 laps to go. Dallon Murty held on to take the win over Logue, Kelly Shryock, Tom Berry Jr and Damon Murty.
Before a single lap was completed in the IMCA Hobby Stocks 25 lap feature event, there was a caution when Colton Garside spun in turn two. Daniel Wauters make his first trip to the speedway took the race lead fending off Luke Ramsey and Jason Kohl. Wauters pace the way until the caution came out on lap 21 for debris in turn four. Wauters held off the field to take feature win and kiss the hog. Tom Killen Jr finished second, Jason Kohl was third, Eric Stanton was fourth and Matthew McAtee was fifth.
Final feature of the night was the IMCA Modifieds 30 lap feature event. Matthew Meinecke let the first seven laps including leading through a pair of cautions on lap four and five. Todd Shute took the lead away and pulled away until the final caution came out on lap 11 when Tom Berry Jr spun in turn four. Shute got a great restart pulled away just a little until lap traffic slow him down allowing Tim Ward to get close. Shute held on to take the victory. Ward, Cayden Carter, Meinecke and Kelly Shryock round out the top five.
