2010 Season Review at the Marshalltown Speedway

Well its time for the season ending stats and recap for the Marshalltown Speedway. Well unlike my buddy Ryan Clark from Positively Racing and the Independence Motor Speedway, my stats for the Marshalltown Speedway only go back to 2002 but even then they are only partial stats.


Before we get to the season ending stats we are going to start with taking a look back at each race night in this blog:

Friday, April 2
-For the fifth time since 2002 the Annual Frost buster would be rained out, the first time since 2007.

Friday, April 9
-Geoff Olson earned his first feature win at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods. Doing so he became the 21st different feature winner in the division since it became a weekly division at Marshalltown
-Scott Simatovich would pick up his 2nd win at Marshalltown in the IMCA Modifieds.
-Damon Murty took the win in the IMCA Stock Cars, this would be his 19th win in the IMCA Stock Cars at Marshalltown putting him 2nd behind Rick Brown on the all time win list since 2002.
-Josh Irvine took the IMCA Hobby Stock feature and strangely this would be his first win at Marshalltown.
-Josh May took his first ever win at Marshalltown, this win would be his 2nd win of the season as he won in West Burlington the Saturday before in the Mod Lites.

Friday, April 16
-Brett Moffitt would take the IMCA Sport Mods and collect his 4th win at Marshalltown in the Sport Mods
-Richie Gustin would take the IMCA Modifieds and collect his 7th feature win at Marshalltown in the Modifieds
-Trent Murphy took the IMCA Stock Car feature, his 4th win at Marshalltown in the Stock Cars, his 11th win at Marshalltown all together (7 Hobby Stock feature wins since 2002).
-Nick Murty would take the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, this would be his 10th feature of all time in the hobby stocks
-Dusty Masolini would claim his first feature win at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Friday, April 23
-For the third time since 2002 the 4th Friday of the Season at Marshalltown would be rained out and for the 2nd time in 3 years the 4th Friday of the Season was rained out. The 2nd rain out of 2010 season at Marshalltown.

Friday, April 30
-Oskaloosa’s Cayden Carter would pick up his first career IMCA Sport Mod win at Marshalltown on this night.
-Luke Wanninger would make the jump up to the IMCA Modifieds from the Sport Mods and it wouldn’t take him very long to get his first feature win at Marshalltown in the Modifieds as he would take the win. Giving him 19 Total career wins at Marshalltown (9 Hobby Stocks, 9 Sport Mods and 1 Modifieds)
-Trent Murphy would become the first repeat winner of 2010 by picking up the IMCA Stock Car Feature. Giving him his 5th Stock Car win and his 12th total wins at Marshalltown
-Devin Smith would get his first win of 2010 at Marshalltown giving him his 8th win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks at Marshalltown
-Tim Hennigar would get his first win of 2010 in the Mod Lites, this win would be his 13th win at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Friday, May 7
-Cayden Carter would become the 2nd driver to be a repeat winner at Marshalltown in 2010 as he would pick up his 2nd win at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods
-Jimmy Gustin got his first feature win in the IMCA Modifieds, his 21st feature win in the IMCA Modifieds at Marshalltown since 2002 putting him only 2 behind Jeff Schroyer
-Travis Shipman would make the pull from Mason City, Iowa and take the win and become the 3rd different stock car feature winner at Marshalltown in 2010, this would be Shipman’s first win at Mo’town
-Tyler Pickett would become the fourth different IMCA Hobby Stock feature winner. This was Pickett’s first at Marshalltown
-Mike Morrill would become the fourth different Mod Lite feature winner, this win would be win number 25 for Morrill at Marshalltown

Friday, May 14
-Brett Moffitt took his 2nd win of the season at Marshalltown, his 5th win all together in the IMCA Sport Mods at Marshalltown
-Mike O’Lear got his 1st win of the year, his 11th win in the IMCA Modifieds at Marshalltown since 2002
-Dustin Smith would get his first win of the year, his 18th win in the IMCA Stock Cars at Marshalltown putting him tied for 3rd with Luke Veren and his 30th win total at Marshalltown since 2002 (12 wins in the Hobby Stocks)
-Devin Smith would become the first repeat winner in the IMCA Hobby Stocks in 2010, giving him 9 feature wins since 2002
-Joel “Huggie Bear” Huggins would become the fifth different Mod Lite winner, this win would be his 6th win at Marshalltown since 2002 putting him solo in the 4th position of wins
-John Schroyer would take his 2nd win in the Nostalgia Car feature

Tuesday, May 18
-Jeff Aikey would take his 3rd Deery Brothers Summer Series win at Marshalltown in the Series history at Marshalltown
-Brett Moffitt would get his 6th win all together at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods, not for track points
-Joel Huggins would get his 7th win of all time in the Mod Lites since 2002, not for track points
-Pat Fagen would become the third different Dirt Truck feature winner at Marshalltown in the history of the dirt trucks at Marshalltown

Friday, May 21
-Eric “Pacman” Elliott won his first feature at Marshalltown in the history of the IMCA Sport Mods
-Richie Gustin would take his 2nd win of the season at Marshalltown, his 8th win since 2002 in the IMCA Modifieds
-Nathan Wood would make the trek to Marshalltown after the CJ Speedway in Columbus Junction rained out and he would make it worth it as he would take the IMCA Stock Car feature win, his first win at Marshalltown.
-Jeff Gunderson would take the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks becoming the 6th different winner in the Hobby Stocks in 2010
-Mike Kennedy would become the 6th different winner in the Mod Lites, this win would be Kennedy’s 3rd win at Marshalltown in the history
-Brad Comergys would win the first of a few appearances by the Iowa Micro Mini Sprints Series at Marshalltown

Friday, May 28
-Richie Gustin would make it back-to-back weeks to take his 3rd feature win of the year at Marshalltown, his 9th win since 2002 in the IMCA Modifieds
-Dylan Book won his first feature at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods after moving up from the Hobby Stocks were he was the 2009 Rookie of the year
-Dustin Smith would return back to victory lane to take his 2nd win of the 2010 season, his 19th win in the IMCA Stock Cars, his 31st win at Marshalltown altogether
-Devin Smith would get his 3rd feature win at Marshalltown in 2010 in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, his 10th win total in the class
-Mike Kennedy would make it back-to-back weeks also to take his 2nd win of the year and his 4th win altogether at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Friday, June 4
-Jon Snyder after going winless in 2009 except for winning the topless non-sanctioned special, he would go on and take his first win of 2010 in the IMCA Modifieds.
-Gatlin Leytham would get his first career Sport Mod win at Marshalltown
-”Flyin” Brian Irvine would make a return visit back to the Marshalltown Speedway and make this one count as he would take the feature event getting his first of 2010. This win would be his 5th win in the IMCA Stock Cars and his 7th win of all time since 2002 at Marshalltown (5 wins in the stock cars, 2 in the hobby stocks)
-Dusty Masolini would take his 2nd of the season at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Friday, June 11
-“Toddzilla” Todd Shute would decide to skip Des Moines and come to Marshalltown and race and would make his well worth it as he would take the IMCA Modified feature adding his name to the history books
-Tracy Gienger would take the IMCA Stock Car feature, his first of the year, this win would also be his 7th since 2002 in the Stock Cars
-Cayden Carter would his 3rd win of the season at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods
-Calvin Dhondt, a driver making his jump from being a figure 8 racer to a Rookie in the IMCA Hobby Stocks and he would go on take his first career IMCA Hobby Stock feature win
-Mike Morrill would take his 2nd win of 2010 in the Mod Lites, this win would become 26th win of all time in the Mod Lites

Friday, June 18
-For the 2nd time in 2 years the third Friday in June would be rained out. This would be the 3rd rain out of 2010.

Friday, June 25
-Scott Simatovich would return back to victory lane in the IMCA Modifieds giving him his 2nd win of 2010 and his 3rd win in the Modifieds since 2002
-Fred Leytham would get his first win of the year in the IMCA Sport Mods, his 2nd win of all time in the Sport Mods
-Trent Murphy would get his 3rd win at Marshalltown in 2010 in the IMCA Stock Cars. Giving him his 6th Stock Car win and his 13th total wins at Marshalltown
-Todd Reitzler would take his first feature win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks of 2010 at Marshalltown, his 7th win altogether since 2002 in the Hobby Stocks
-Josh May would take his 2nd win of the season at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Monday, June 28
-Brian Irvine would take the opening night of the Great American Stock Car Shootout Series giving him 2 wins at Marshalltown in 2010, his 6th IMCA Stock Car of all time and his 8th all together since 2002.
-Todd Reitzler would return to victory lane in the IMCA Hobby Stocks for his 2nd win of the year, his 8th since 2002
-Cayden Carter would take the win in the IMCA Sport Mods giving him his 4th win at Marshalltown
-This race was not for track points

Friday, July 2
-The “Mo’Town Missile” Brett Ladehoff would get his first win of 2010 by taking the win in the IMCA Modifieds, this win was his 5th win in the IMCA Modifieds and his 13th win total at Marshalltown (8 Sport Mod wins)
-Scott Davis would get his first feature win at Marshalltown in 2010 by picking up the IMCA Sport Mods feature, this win would be his 7th win in the Sport Mods at Marshalltown
-Trent Murphy would get his 4th win of the year at Marshalltown, giving him 7th total wins in the IMCA Stock Cars and his 14th win of his career at Marshalltown
-Aaron Rudolph would take his first of the year and the first of all time in the IMCA Hobby Stocks at Marshalltown
-Joel Huggins would take his 3rd win of the year at Marshalltown, his 2nd win for track points, his 8th win in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown

Friday, July 9
-Brett Ladehoff would make it back-to-back weeks in the IMCA Modifieds to take his 2nd of the year at Marshalltown. Now giving him 6 wins in the Modifieds and 14 total wins at Marshalltown
-Scott Davis would also make it back-to-back weeks in the IMCA Sport Mods to take his 2nd of the year. This would now give him 8 Sport Mods wins at Marshalltown altogether
-Dustin Smith would take his 3rd feature of the year at Marshalltown in the IMCA Stock Cars, his 20th win in the Stock Cars putting him 1 win behind Rick Brown in IMCA Stock Car feature wins since 2002.
-Devin Smith would take his 4th feature of the year at Marshalltown
-Josh May would take his 3rd win of the year at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Friday, July 16
-Luke Wanninger would get his 2nd win of the year in the IMCA Modifieds at Marshalltown
-Nick Roberts would get his 1st career win at Marshalltown by taking the top honors in the IMCA Sport Mods
-Dustin Smith would make it back-to-back weeks to take his 4th win of the year in the IMCA Stock Cars at Marshalltown
-Devin Smith would make it back-to-back weeks to take his 5th win of the year in the IMCA Hobby Stocks at Marshalltown
-Josh May would also make it back-to-back weeks to take his 4th win of the year at Marshalltown in the Mod Lites

Friday, July 23
-Jimmy Gustin would return back to victory lane and take his 2nd win of the year at Marshalltown in the IMCA Modifieds
-Cayden Carter would make a return to victory lane and take his 5th win at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods
-Dustin Smith would make it 3 weeks in a row and taking his 5th win of the year in the IMCA Stock Cars
-Calvin Dhondt would make his rookie season worth it as he would go and take on his 2nd win of the year in the IMCA Hobby Stocks
-Joel Huggins would take his 4th win of the year at Marshalltown, his 3rd win for track points, his 9th win in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown
-The Mod Lites would be the only class to run their feature on this night, the rest of the classes made their feature up on August 6th

Friday, July 30
-The 4th rain out of 2010 at Marshalltown, the first final Friday night in July rain out since 2003

Friday, August 6
-Brett Ladehoff would take the feature honors in the IMCA Modifieds on his birthday, giving him his 3rd win of the year at Marshalltown, 7 total Modified wins
-Scott Davis would claim his 3rd feature win in the IMCA Sport Mods at Marshalltown in 2010, 9th Sport Mod win altogether at Marshalltown
-Dustin Smith would make it 4 weeks in a row at Marshalltown minus the rain out and taking his 6th win of the year in the IMCA Stock Cars
-Michael Murphy claimed his first win of 2010 at Marshalltown in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, his 3rd of all time at Marshalltown
-Tim Hennigar would take his 2nd win of the year at Marshalltown, his 13th win of all time in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown

Friday, August 13
-Todd Conrad would get his first feature win at Marshalltown since June 6, 2008 in the IMCA Modifieds.
-Cayden Carter continues to show them up in the IMCA Sport Mods as he would take his 6th win of the year at Marshalltown
-Dustin Smith would make it 5 weeks in a row at Marshalltown and take his 7th win of the year in the IMCA Stock Cars
-Devin Smith would get his 6th win of the season at Marshalltown in the IMCA Hobby Stocks
-Ivan Guerra would pick up his first career win in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown

Friday, August 20
-The first rain out in the month of August since August 24th, 2007. The first rain out on the third Friday of august since August 19th, 2005. The fifth rain out of the 2010 season at Marshalltown.

Friday, August 27
-Jon Snyder would claim his 2nd win at Marshalltown of the year in the IMCA Modifieds
-Jenae Gustin would join the family history and claim her first career IMCA Sport Mod feature event.
-Dustin Smith would take his 6th straight win minus the 2 rain outs in the IMCA Stock Cars, his 8th of the year at Marshalltown
-Clint Nelson would get his first IMCA Hobby Stock win at Marshalltown
-Mike Kennedy would take his 3rd win of the year in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown
-Ben Woods would take the Iowa Micro Mini Sprints Series feature

Tuesday, August 31
-Jon Tesch took the win for the 2nd year in a row in the USMTS Modifieds at Marshalltown, the feature was shortened to 20 laps due to rain
-Cayden Carter would take the win in the Sport Mods his 7th win of the year at Marshalltown, this race was non-sanctioned
-Tim Hennigar would take his 3rd win of the year at Marshalltown, his 14th win of all time in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown, not for track points though
-Stock Cars feature was rained out and cancelled
-Dirt Trucks feature was to be made up on Night 2 of the Havoc on the High Banks

Friday, September 3
-Jon Snyder would make it back-to-back weeks and take his 3rd win of the year at Marshalltown in the IMCA Modifieds
-Cayden Carter would take his 2nd win of the week at Marshalltown, his 8th win of the year at Marshalltown
-Trent Murphy would be the driver to end the streak of Dustin Smith and in doing so would claim his 5th win at Marshalltown in the IMCA Stock Cars in 2010
-Devin Smith would take his 7th win of the year at Marshalltown in the IMCA Hobby Stocks
-Tim Hennigar would take his 4th win of the year, his 15th win of all time in the Mod Lites at Marshalltown
-Wade Russell would take his 3rd win in the vintage cars at Marshalltown in the last 4 years

Friday, September 17
-Richie Gustin would continue the power of 19 in the Havoc on the High Banks IMCA Modifieds feature as he would take the win, his 4th win of the year at Marshalltown.
-Cayden Carter would get his 9th win of the year at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sport Mods
-Dustin Smith would claim his 9th feature win of the year at Marshalltown in the IMCA Stock Cars
-Scott Pippert won the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature, his first win of the year at Marshalltown
-Tim Hennigar would take his 5th win of the year and his 16th win of all time in the Mod Lites
-This was a none points race

Saturday, September 18
-Night 2 of the Havoc on the High Banks was rained out. it’s the 3rd night rained out totally during the Havoc on the High Banks. In 2008, both of the originally scheduled nights were rained out but one night was reschedule 2 weeks later for a Sunday.
