After getting rained out after hot laps it was back to action at the Marshalltown Speedway with Minute Man Printing Night at the races.
Duayne Herb would take the early lead but it was Merv Chandler making the move to take the lead on lap 3. Chandler would have to battle with Moorman but hold him off for the 5th straight win in the IMCA Sport Compacts. Herb, Josh Keller and Justin Tharp rounded out the top 5.
O’Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites feature would see Joel Huggins lead the first lap but Josh May would take the lead away from Huggins on lap 2, nothing seemed to be slowing down May not even the lap traffic but then the caution would come out on lap 13. May held off the late race challenges from Huggins and Mike Kennedy to take his 3rd win of the season at Marshalltown. Huggins would settle for 2nd, Kennedy was 3rd, Mike Morrill was 4th and Randy Bryan was 5th.
In the Big 8 Tyre Center IMCA SportMods feature it was Gaitlin Leytham taking the lead and not look back as Leytham would go on take the win in the feature that would g green-to-checkered. For Leytham it was win number 2 for the year at Marshalltown. Jake Strayer, Jenae Gustin, Carter Vandenberg and Nick Roberts would finish 2nd through 5th.
Toby K’s Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks feature saw Brice Udelhoven lead the first 2 laps before Austin Luellen would get by and take the lead. Luellen looked to be going on to the rather easy win but the caution would come out on lap 11 forcing the feature to a green-white-checkered finish. Luellen would have to deal with Scott Pippert and Eric Larson; Luellen would hold both of them off to take the win. Pippert would finish 2nd, Larson would end up 3rd. Donavon Nunnikhoven and Kevin Fee would finish out the top 5.
The Mike’s Hard Lemonade IMCA Stock Cars would see Trent Murphy lead the first 7 laps before he would have some trouble and end up pulling off. Damon Murty would take the lead from Murphy but shortly after the caution would come out on lap 9. After yet another lap was completed the caution would come out again but Murty would not have any trouble as he would go on and take the win over Brian Irvine. Irvine would make several challenges but fall short and end up getting passed by Jay Schmidt on the final lap for 2nd. Point Leader Steve Meyer and Michael Murphy would complete the top 5.
The final feature of the night was Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel IMCA Modifieds feature and it was an exciting feature with 3 and 4 wide racing right off the start. Tim Stevens would lead the first lap before Josh Truman would make the pass to take the lead on lap 2. Truman would remain out front until Luke Wanninger and Jimmy Gustin would chase him down. Wanninger would make the pass on lap 13 followed by Gustin. The caution would come out on lap 17 and on the restart it was Wanninger getting a great restart and hold off the challenges by Gustin to take the win. Gustin would settle for 2nd. Finishing behind Wanninger and Gustin was Truman, Kyle Brown and David Brown.
Next Friday Night will be JR Motorsports and Chase Decals Night with local area pastors competing in the annual Faster Pastor Race. Hot laps at 6:45 pm and racing at 7:30 pm.
