With no racing on Wednesday Night last week and this week at Osky, i decided to make it a busy week of racing and it was just that. Started on Thursday Night with the Night of 1,000 Stars at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt (http://foxman1987.blogspot.com/2014/08/elliott-dominates-night-of-1000-stars.html) and then Friday Night at Marshalltown Speedway (http://foxman1987.blogspot.com/2014/08/stensland-luellen-gustin-smith-and.html).
Saturday Night i decided to over to Iowa's Action Track the Boone Speedway for a nice night of racing. As the month of August always brings in extra cars getting ready for the 32nd Annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals presented by Casey's.
First feature of the night in Boone was the Mod Lites feature and it was Joe Glick grabbing the lead and he looked to be pulling away until he ran down lap traffic which allowed Terry Brown to chase him down. Brown took the lead away on lap ten and three laps later the caution came out when Kevin Grisham spun in turn three. Brown held on to take the win with Glick, Bryan Zehm, Joel Keenan and Jimmy May finishing second through fifth.
Shawn Albers took the early lead but just after the completion of lap one in the IMCA SportMods feature, the caution came out for a pile up in turn four. After another lap was completed the caution came out again on lap two, first for Adam Shelman sitting on the front stretch and then for a couple of cars sitting in turn two. Albers continued to lead until Ben Kates took the lead away on lap eight, Kates went on to take the win over Jake McBirnie, Albers, Lynn Brockett and Tim Love.
Before a lap was completed in the IMCA Hobby Stocks 12 lap feature, the caution came out for Bryan Keeney flying off the top of turn two in to the wall. After the clean up it was Seth Janssen grabbing the lead and he looked to be heading on to the easy win but Cody Gustoff challenged him just after halfway but was unable to make the move. Tyler Pickett finish third, Eric Stanton was fourth and John Watson was fifth.
Just the like the Hobby Stocks the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature started with a caution when Lloyd Henderson and Jon Snyder got together in turn three. Kyle Krampe but his K1 machine in the lead early but it was not easy as Tyler Prochaska was right there. Joel Bushore made it a three car battle with Krampe and Prochaska but it was Krampe still holding on. The final race caution came out on lap 14 for Randy Havlik in turn two. Krampe lead the remaining six laps to take the win over Prochaska, Scott Davis, Russ Dickerson and Bushore.
Final feature of the night at Boone on Saturday was the 18 lap IMCA Stock Car feature. Ty Hill will spin on the back stretch bring out the caution before a lap was scored on the restart it was Scott Bailey taking the lead. Bailey saw the caution come out on lap three and that would allow Jay Schmidt to sneak by. Schmidt went on to take the checkered first, Robert Stofer was second. Donavon Smith was third, Jerry Gifford was fourth and Trent Murphy experienced a flat on the last lap that pushed him back to fifth.

Got home around midnight and went to bed so i could get up and head to the Iowa State Fair Speedway bright and early Sunday Morning for the Inauguaral Maynard Davis III Memorial. Hard to believe that it was 10 years ago that Maynard Davis lost his life in a crash on the start of the Modified feature which put an end to day time circle track racing during the Iowa State Fair until 2014. Midwest Racing Promotions led by Tony Moro and the Blue Ribbon Foundation/Iowa State Fairboard brought back day time racing to the fair with the Inaugural Maynard Davis III Memorial. Only three classes was the on the car as the IMCA Racesaver 305 Sprints, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA Modifieds.
First feature of the day was the IMCA Modifieds 20 lap feature and it was the "Hartford Rambler" Jason Murray grabbing the lead from his outside front row starting spot. Murray was pulling away but the caution came out on lap eight when Matt Waugh went for a tumble in turn three. Murray saw Todd Shute and Kyle Brown right behind him but he got a great restart and went on to take the win over Shute, Brown, Nick Roberts and Russ Gladson.
Ray Stock Jr. started on the pole in the IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature and he took advantage grabbing the early lead. Stock's lead was short lived until sixth place starter Dustin Griffiths worked his way up to take the lead away on lap four. Griffiths went on to take the win in the feature that went green to checkered. Eric Stanton wheeled his way to finish second, Jason See was third, Tommy Killen Jr was fourth and Rex Bonnett was fifth.
IMCA Racesaver 305 Sprints was out last and it was Jason Martin from Lincoln, Nebraska taking the lead. Martin never looked back until the only race caution came out on lap 19 which resulted in a green-white-checkered finish. Martin held on to take the win over Track Point Champion Matt Moro. Dustin Selvage was third, Eric Recihwaldt was fourth and Shayle Bade was fifth.

Races were done and i still had sometime to walk around the Fair more before making the 30 minute drive over to Stuart for my normal Sunday Night home to announce the Inaugural Bones Memorial $1,000 Topless SportMod Special. The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Late Models were also back to make up the race that got rained out in June and the Mod Lites were back as well for a visit to the track.
First feature of the night was the IMCA Late Models 20 lap feature and it was Bill Crimmins taking the early lead. Crimmins led until lap five when he got into the wall in turns one and two forcing the yellow to come out. That handed the lead over to "Chargin" Charlie McKenna and McKenna lead the remaining laps despite Todd Cooney trying to chase him down as McKenna was going through lap traffic. Randy Foote was third, Randy Faux was fourth and Vic Lovejoy was fifth.
Mike Morrill led all 15 laps in the Mod Lites feature. Charlie Brown was second, Travis Stensland was third, Jimmy May was fourth and Joe Glick was fifth.
Only three IMCA Stock Cars signed in on Sunday and it was a great race between Brian Blessington and Marcus Fagen for the lead. Fagen took the lead for the first three laps before Blessington nosed ahead on lap four. Fagen again took the lead on lap five but it was Blessington taking it a back on lap eight. Blessington went on to pick up his 200th IMCA Stock Car win on his 23rd Wedding Anniversary. Marcus Fagen finished a close second and Norman Belew was third.
Jacob Reiter beat out Brandon Patava in the six lap IMCA Sport Compacts feature to take the win. Cody Cleghorn was unable to make the feature after breaking something in the heat race.
In the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature it was Rex Parkison leading the first three laps. Jake Durbin took the lead away on lap four and it appeared to be heading on to the win but "Fergie" Cole Ferguson got by Durbin late in the race to take the win. Josh Gilman finished second, Nick Roberts in third, Durbin was fourth and Todd Van Eaton was fifth.
Andy Forcht led all the laps in the 6 Cylinder Outlaw Front Wheel Drive feature. Korbin Nourse finished second and Cody Cleghorn was third in a borrow car. Veronica Patava was fourth.
IMCA Hobby Stock 15 lap feature saw Jeremy Auten lead the first three laps but it was Shannon Anderson taking the lead away on lap four. Anderson look to be going on to the win but Austin Luellen snuck by on lap 13. Luellen took the win meanwhile Jamie Schirm got by Anderson to finish second. Auten and Jacob Keiser rounded out the top five.
Final feature of the night was the Bones Memorial Topless Memorial Sport Mod 25 lap feature. Jeane Gustin took the lead from the outside second row starting spot and lead until lap four. Gustin was passed by Clint Luellen on the highside on lap five. Gustin and Luellen battled it out the entire distance with Luellen holding on including after a couple of cautions on lap 11, a caution on lap 15, lap 19 and lap 23. Luellen held on to take the win with Gustin in second, Taylor Musselmand was third, Jerry Hinton was fourth and Rookie Chase Rudolf was fifth.

Monday Night it was back to the Iowa State Fair Speedway for the Yearly Deery Brothers Summer Series fueled by Casey's General Stores.
After having the intial start called back in the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks feature event it was Lou Siplot taking the lead. Siplot held on to the lead through the only caution during the race on lap six. Siplot appeared to be heading on to the win but going into turn one on lap 13, Siplot slid up the track to leaving the door open for Sather, Sather slipped up in turn four that allowed Siplot to edge him out at the line. Sather took the lead back in turn one on the last lap and went on take the win over Siplot. Brad Moyer beat Brother Bret Moyer for third and AJ Nelson was fifth.
Ty Griffith looked nearly flawless in the 15 lap IMCA SportMod feature event. The only race caution came out on lap 12 for debris in turn four but Griffith was not to be denied the win. Matt Webb was second with Glenn Gladson Jr in third. DJ Robinson and Austin Kaplan was fourth and fifth respectively.
IMCA Stock Cars 20 lap feature saw Scott Pippert taking the lead early but it was "Terminator" Mark Elliott taking the lead away on lap four. The caution came out twice first on lap six and then again on lap 15 both for debris. Elliot went on to take the win over Clay Mercer, Brad Deery, Pippert and Damon Murty.
Final feature of the night was the 35 lap IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Models feature event but before a single lap was completed the caution came out when Jonathan Brauns, Ben Nading, Paul Glendenning, Spencer Diercks, Jay Johnson and Greg Kastli getting together on the front stretch. When the race got resumed it was Joel Callahan taking the lead but that was short lived as Ryan Dolan took it away on lap six. Dolan was running 22.8 sec laps through out the feature meanwhile the caution came out two more times. Josh Most spun in turn two on lap 17 and then again the caution came out again on lap 28 for Jason Rauen coming to a stop in turn four. Meanwhile yes i heard about the incident involving NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart at a dirt track in New York and i am not going to comment about but i will say this my good friend Bobby Hansen said it best and you can read what he said at http://khak.com/a-tragedy-that-should-have-never-happened/.
This week you will find me Friday Night at Marshalltown, Saturday Night at Boone and Sunday Night at Stuart. See you at the races real soon!
