Dripps and Williams Take First on Central Iowa Farm Store Night

Marshalltown, Iowa (July 10th, 2015) – Mother Nature prepared an amazing track this week for Night 11 of IMCA Weekly Racing Series. The night sponsored by Central Iowa Farm Store as part of the Central Iowa Fair saw 69 cars signed in to tame the high banked quarter mile.
Mike Morrill (Mod Lites), Eric Stanton (IMCA Hobby Stocks) and Donavon Smith (IMCA Stock Cars) all make return visits to winner circle meanwhile Corey Dripps (IMCA Modifieds) and Brandon Williams (IMCA SportMods) take first wins at Marshalltown in 2015. Youngster also got involved with bike races at Intermission. Central Iowa Fair Queen Shelby Sly and first Runner Up Tylia Kaisand was on hand for victory lane photos and pace truck duties.
Jason Whitehead led the first two laps of the Mod Lites 15 lap feature event but Charlie Brown worked by his brother Terry Brown and Joe Glick to take the lead away from Whitehead on lap three. Charlie Brown led until lap seven when Mike Morrill took the lead away just before a caution when Travis Stensland spun in turn two. Morrill held off Randy Bryan and Charlie Brown to take his 2nd win at Motown in 2015. Bryan was second, Brown was third, Glick was fourth and Josh May was fifth.
Frank Packer started outside row one in the IMCA Northern SportMods 18 lap feature and he took advantage by grabbing the lead. Packer continued to pave the away holding off Dusty Masolini and Sam Wieben but then Brandon Williams worked his way to second on lap seven and then just after the completion of lap eight the caution came out for Curt Hilmer in turn one. On the restart, Packer saw Williams battle for the lead and it was Williams taking the lead away on lap ten. Williams held on to take his first win at Motown ahead of Wieben, Packer, Jared Van Deest and Ryan King.
Toby's K Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature event went green-to-checkered but the action was exciting behind your leader. Jason Cox led the first four laps before Eric Stanton grabbed the lead away. Stanton went on take his fourth win meanwhile Eugene Nicklas settled into second ahead of Garrett Eilander, Tyson Overton and Jason Cox.
JD Kennedy grabbed the early lead in the Miller Lite IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature but it was Robert Stofer taking the lead away on lap six. Stofer looked to be heading on to his second consecutive win but the only caution came out on lap 11 for Nick Thelen in turn three that allowed Donavon Smith to restart second. Stofer and Smith began to battle for the lead and it was Smith taking the lead away on lap 15. Smith went on to take his 5th win of the season. Stofer was second, Trent Murphy took third away from Tyler Pickett coming to the checkers. Michael Jaennette was fifth.
The caution came out just after the initial start in the Coors Light IMCA Modifieds feature when Rod Clement lost a driveshaft coming down the front-stretch. On the restart, Corey Dripps grabbed the top spot with Eric Elliott in tow. Dripps and Elliott battled for the lead until the caution came out on lap ten for Colby Heishman experiencing troubles exiting the track. Dripps got a great restart, Elliott however did not get a great restart as that allowed Josh Gilman and Jimmy Gustin to get by for second and third. Dripps went on to take his first win at Marshalltown meanwhile Gustin grabbed second away from Gilman on the last lap. Elliott and Ronn Lauritzen rounded out the top five.
Next Friday Night is Fast Shafts and Marshalltown Police Night at the Races. Tough Truck Tug of War also will be taking place. Hot Laps at 6:50pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
