Barnes, Ulin, Lowry and Hughes Victorious at Bloomfield
by Jeremy Fox

Bloomfield, Iowa (July 30th, 2016) - A few weeks ago, I was asked by normal scorer of Bloomfield and Eldon to go fill in for her at Bloomfield on Saturday Night and I accepted and other than the two hour drive from Marshalltown, it was a really good night. Not only was i doing scoring duties but i also was on the raceceiver to the drivers.

First feature of the night was the Sport Compacts 12 lap event and it was a pair of 13B's on the front row, Josh Barnes in the 13B and Brandon Ruffcorn in the 13BX. It was Barnes wrestling the top spot away from Ruffcorn and never looked back cruising on to the win. Ruffcorn ran second the entire distance, Kyle Boyd finish third, Brandon Reu finished fourth and Brandon Housley finished fifth.

Justin Millhouse and Sierra Wilsey led the field to the green in the 14 lap Hobby Stock feature but before a lap was completed Millhouse, Wilsey and Christian Huffman got together on the backstretch forcing a complete restart. That moved up Dustin Griffiths and August Bach to the front row and it was August Bach taking the lead but Griffiths stayed close until Griffiths experience mechanical issues forcing him to exit on lap three. Bach than saw Nick Ulin running second but then the caution came out on lap nine for Chris Archer in turn nine. Bach and Ulin began to battled for the lead and it was Ulin taking the lead on lap 11 when Bach experienced issues forcing him out of the race. Ulin led the remaining laps to take the win ahead of Scott Shull, Jon Irwin, Huffman and PJ Veenstra.

The 16 lap SportMod feature, saw the caution come out before a single lap was completed when Steven Berry, Aaron Bridgeman, Danny Brau and Colton Nelson all got together in turn three forcing the caution to be displayed. Michael Guthrie and Jim Walker led the field to the green when the race got going but it was Brett Lowry grabbing the lead early. Lowry look comfortable out front until the caution came out on lap ten for Brandon Dale coming to a stop in turn two. Lowry had Lancaster and Jason McDaniel on his back bumper but that was not going to deny Lowry the win as he led the remaining laps to take the victory. McDaniel ran second the last six laps with Lancaster in third. Jim Walker was fourth and Colton Nelson came back to finish fifth.

Shane Paris grabbed the lead early in 18 lap Stock Car feature but Mike Hughes, started eighth by then end of lap one, Hughes was running second. Hughes grabbed the top spot away just before the caution on lap three for Brad Egbert in turn two. Hughes and Paris continued to run one and two but the field saw the caution again on lap six for Derek Kirkland, Darin Dezwarte and Riley Newton on backstretch. Hughes went on to take the win, Ryan Cook finished second, Jason See was third, Paris slipped back to fourth and Howard Gordon Jr, driving brother Daniel's Stock car, finished in fifth.
